Hey guys! So, I've been gone for a while... oops

Feel free to be a little mad...

I actually had this chapter written for a while, but I just felt like it wasn't good enough. It's short and unsatisfying but... might as well get it up for you guys.

AnywayZzz... I'll have my FGM at the bottom for you guys.

Oh ya, I also joined Vine today, so you can follow me at K8ie. Tanchi (no spaces) if you want, and I might follow you back! You can also follow me on Google+ if you've got gmail... I'm Kate T... the one with the profile pic that says screw calm and get #loud. And don't worry, you protective onliners, I don't put up personal info.

Disclaimer: she said I don't own, I don't own any of this... (awful All Night parody...)

Recap:

Ally's eyes had stayed on the handgun, traveling up to Austin's face. She tilted her head. "What are you?"

He shook his head and lowered the gun, staring at it, looking almost ashamed. "I don't even know."

The girl fixed her feet and chanced it. "I think you do. I think you know exactly what you are, but you don't want to tell me for whatever reason. You're scared. You're ashamed."

"I'm not scared."

"Then tell me who you are. Or at least what you've become."

The gun landed on the coffee table. "I'm an assassin, okay, Ally? I kill people. It's my job. One minute, I'm walking behind them with the crowd, and the next, they're on the ground, their neck snapped in half. It's what I've been trained to do. And it's the definition of me that I want to kill." He looked her dead in the eye. "It will be the last thing I murder with own hands."

But then he was shaking his head. "It's the hardest thing to do when all I can think of is how to protect you."

"Then teach me how to defend myself," Ally cried breathlessly.

"Doing that would only make it mean I'm killing more than I need to."

"How?"

"Because you deserve your innocence. And I can't risk taking that away."

Ally sagged against the couch. "Why is my innocence so important to you?"

Austin fell onto the other end of the couch. "Because... because that's what it was like when we were kids. Almost everything has changed now. My hands are layered in blood, your wrists are scarred. The only thing left of us as kids is the innocence that still lives in your eyes. I can see it, Ally. And I want you to keep it."

He ran a tired hand through his hair. The truth was out, and it was not gratifying.

She nodded tiredly, turning sideways to lay down. "Okay," she sighed, emitting a yawn.

Austin let out a deep breath and put a hand on her ankle. "Hey," he murmured softly.

"Mm?"

"You know I'm only doing this because I love you."

The small girl bumped him with her foot. "I love you too."

Chapter 11- Stay With Me Tonight

(Stay With Me by R5)

His arm swung the blue, plastic shopping basket back and forth lazily as they ventured down the aisle, and he let it dangle from the crook of his elbow as he reached up to grab one of the clear plastic bottles on the shelf. The small brunette with her arm hooked through his other placed another hand where his wrist disappeared into his jacket pocket, peeping around his side to see what he was getting.

"Why do we need all this oil?" She inquired, watching as he selected six bottles if castor oil, sesame seed oil, and olive oil.

"Safety precautions," he answered, continuing down the row. She nodded and nuzzled her cheek into his sleeve, as if playing a couple in public was a natural thing for them. Maybe it was- she'd learned to roll with the punches the past few weeks.

"If I was the check out clerk, I'd think that you have some extreme diarrhea with all this castor oil," she stated, looking up at him through her lashes.

"Nice to know you're not judgemental at all." He retorted, glancing down at her for a moment. "Besides, this stuff is for you."

Her eyes widened. "How?"

"Your hair. One of my... crewmembers told me about this thing called the inversion method. We're going to put these oils into your hair and flip you over for seven days, and it'll be an inch longer by the end of the week. It's pretty neat."

"That sounds nasty. How does that even work?"

He dropped a pack of AA Batteries into the basket. "The oil stimulates the hair follicles, and these ones have special penetrating powers, along with vitamins that will help it grow. The head inverting will bring the blood flow to your head, and then the greenhouse effect afterwards will help with the growth."

Ally looked up at Austin, disbelieving. "How did you learn that? And what do we even need it for?"

Austin leaned down and skimmed his lips over her hairline. "The internet. Well, the internet that I won't leave footprints on. And we need it for a disguise as we travel. By the time we get where we're going, you'll have five extra inches- one treatment per month. And not with your period... or if you're pregnant."

She glared up at him at this point, and he chuckled. "Where are we going, anyway?"

The blonde watched as a piece of hair fell behind her while she hurried- her small steps to match his lax, easy pace with his long strides. He smirked down at her.

"California."

"I never knew that picking the right pads could be so grueling," Austin stated as he threw the three plastic bags on the table; one with canned food, one with the oil, and one with girly products.

"That's just because I was too short to see that the package I needed was on the top shelf, and then I made you get it."

"Okay, but who knew there could be so many?"

Ally looked up as she grabbed her grocery bag. "Like you haven't been down that aisle before."

"I'm not that bad." His voice was muffled by the fridge door.

"You are. I mean what kind of caretaker are you? Reluctant to buy for my feminine needs. How awful. Who else will do it?"

He glanced over the fridge door and rolled his eyes. "You're ridiculous."

She chucked her bag into her room, collapsing onto the couch. "You're the ridiculous one."

His eyebrows flew up as he closed the fridge door and made his way over to the couch. "Really? I'm the rediculous one?" He asked as he came to tower over her.

"That's what I said." She grinned.

Shaking his head, Austin began to walk away, a hint of a smile on his lips. Ally quickly scrambled forward and grabbed his hand, yanking him back as hard as she could. He stopped and plopped down beside her, his gaze questioning.

A rather shy look crossed Ally's face before she took him by surprise, leaning over to curl into his side, burying her head in his chest. He hesitated for a moment before letting an arm fall over her shoulders, still not used to her sudden mood changes.

"But thank you anyway," she mused, turning her face up to look at him.

A feeling of guilt sent a pang through his chest. He wasn't typically affected this way- he wasn't supposed to be. He was supposed to be fake and emotionless, not sincere. But she shouldn't be thanking him.

It was nearly impossible to thank him.

But she found a way.

He pulled her closer as her arms curled around his torso, and pressed his lips to her hair. She closed her eyes, smiling lightly and resting her forehead in the crook of his neck. They sat still, frozen in their position for a moment.

"Austin?"

Her voice was drowsy and shy, her lips mere whispers against his collar bone.

"Mhmm?"

She scooted closer. "This time, will you be there when I wake up?"

Austin held her tighter. No promises.

He was there.

He was there and holding her and gripping her tight to his chest. He was there and squinting open his eyes because it was finally sunny outside. He was there and holding her and squinting and wanting to stretch and crack his back. But he didn't.

Because for once, he was there.

And she felt protected.

Because she opened her eyes and let out a cat-like yawn, trying to stretch in his embrace like a small kitten. She felt his sturdy arms around her waist and turned over to face him, smiling shyly before laying her head back down on his chest and sighing contentedly.

"You're still here."

"I am."

"Do you still love me the same as when we were kids?"

"I do."

"Then why don't you sleep along with me anymore?"

"I prefer to watch you."

"Why?"

"Because I worry about you."

"You shouldn't."

"And why is that?"

She moved so that her chin rested on his chest and she was facing him. "Because I'm a big girl now."

The corner of his lip raised. "But you're in my world now."

"Don't you miss when it used to be our world?"

He sucked in a breath. Yeah. He did. "I'd rather this, now, not be both ours. Just mine."

"Why?"

"Because it's too dangerous for you."

She turned her face once again, her cheek on his warm chest. "I knew you love me."

"I know."

He waited for her to fall asleep again before looking around the room. There had been something odd when he woke up- a new scent in the air, a new aura about the place. His eyes fell on the coffee table, which held a simple yellow piece of translucent paper. He reached over Ally to pick it up, reading the curvy handwriting.

See you in Cali

-Vegas

Austin groaned and crumpled up the paper, fisting it and bringing it to his forehead.

He'd always hated Mondays.

He woke Ally up an hour and a half later, gently letting her know that they were leaving. She nodded half-heartedly and changed into shorts and long-sleeves. They were on the road again in a matter of minutes,

The line to South Carolina wasn't approaching any time soon. They stopped at an old, run-down diner, deciding to save the canned-food for later.

Ally toyed with her napkin. "So, what's the plan?"

Austin crossed his arms over the table, leaning toward her. "Since when have I ever told you the plan?"

The small girl huffed. "And look where that got us the past two times."

"Ally, I told you to trust-"

"Austin, you were shot in the back," she stated firmly, her eyes flicking up and locking on his. "I almost got kidnapped and knifed. I'm clueless, not naïeve-"

"You are naïeve, you almost went with Elliot-"

"Because I didn't know. So don't you dare say that I have to put every ounce of trust I have in you without knowing the slightest what's going on."

For a moment, he thought she might start yelling. But then he noticed the tears pooling in her eyes.

He hated how he couldn't keep up with her moods.

"I don't even know what's going on," she whispered, her eyes falling again. "I don't know what's going to happen. Am I going to get back to school? Are we going to die? Are you going to leave me again?" She sniffed, not bothering to wipe her eyes. "Why do you even need me?"

Austin stared at her across the table, his expression unreadable. Uncrossing his arms, he grabbed her hands and gently grasped them in his own. "I never would have left you if I could, Ally. But it was either you or me. And the things I've seen, the things I've done, and the things I've experienced would kill you. They surely have done it for me.

"Now, I'm not enough. They want you too, and I'm not letting that happen. I'm not letting them take from you what they took from me. You-"

He stopped as the tall red-head waitress set down their plates before them. She raised an eyebrow at the sight of them, a tall, lean boy holding the hands of a small, shy girl as he whispered to her words that made her stressed. Shaking her head of red hair, she walked away.

Austin released her hands, leaning back. "We're going to California to set things straight."

Ally nodded numbly. Asking for more would be taking too big of a bite for her. She turned her attention and picked at her food.

They ate in silence until the waitress came by and took their plates, laying the bill on the table. Austin threw in a few bills, and she returned with a receipt, and a small paper, ten digits scribbled across the bottom. She slid both slips to him, smirking at the two quiet teens. With a whip of her curly ginger pony tail, she had disappeared.

Austin picked up the receipt, sliding out if the booth. He offered a hand to Ally, who took it with hesitation. She slid out of her booth, following behind as he lead them back out to the lot to set out onto the road again.

She pretended not to see him slip the other paper into his back pocket.

AN: is it just me or as that kinda short?

Ah well...

WHO ELSE IS READY FOR #SometimeLastNight!

I AM SO EXCITED! I'm so in love with All Night, and I watched the bits and pieces of songs from All Day All Night sound so good.

And WB&WB was soooo good. I fangirled through the whole thing. I also heard "On My Own" from TB2 and I felt so sad the whole night after. I told myself that I wouldn't watch the movie, but R5 wrote the song and I couldn't help myself.

About Rourtney, I honestly think he was bound to get a girlfriend at some point...

Anyway, it's summer time and that means more updates and one-shots! Yay!
