I miss their bickering..

Clueless

"Aarrghh!" Letty slammed the door of Mia's bedroom, the owner looked at her tantruming best friend with a frown, she doesn't like it if other people slam her door, it's her door, she owns the right for any door wrecking activity. Okay, maybe she's being possessive, but as a thirteen years old, living under the same roof with other teenagers, her room is her sanctuary. She just wish they all can respect that.

Letty pointed her finger at her, "Don't give me that look" she threatened.

Mia rolled her eyes and sat up from the bed, closing her biology textbook and putting it aside, obviously a protozoa's life is less important than the glaring tomboy pacing her room right now.

"Him?" She asked. One word. It was enough to explain for her best friend frantic behavior.

"Yes. Him! That jackass of a brother of yours!"

"What did he do this time?" Mia sighed. This was going to be another of Letty's heart-pouring session that has been going on for a few month now. She finds it quite amusing though, how her brother can pushed her button and send the sixteen years old tomboy Latina to a toddler like tantrum. Any other guy would already received a black eye and bruises, probably a mild concussion, but Dom?

"I wish it was legal to kill an idiot!" Letty growled as she kept pacing in Mia's room. There you have it. Dom was on Letty's death list. "I'll be doing the state a favor, wouldn't it? Not to mention the effect of it for humanity.. And the continuity of man kind"

"Let, can you sit down? You're making me dizzy" Mia said exasperatedly.

"I can't sit down!" Letty glared at her. "I need something to punch!"

"Then punch him!" Mia's hand directed to the next room.

"He's the 'Boss'" Her voice mimicked Dom's heavy tone mockingly, while her hand flew up to exaggeratedly gesturing the air quote before snorting with disgusted look. "Just because your dad is away, he thinks he got the rights to be bossing around, telling us what to do like he owns the place. What a jerk!"

"Owh.. He pulled that one out today huh?" Mia's lips twitched, trying to suppress a smile. Her brother knew a few things to irritate the grumpy girl, one of them being an authority figure, she always hate that.

"He told me I put the crankshaft the wrong way. How dare he?! Who does he thinks I am? A five year old?! He thinks I'm an idiot that doesn't know how to assemble an engine!"

That's another card he knew how to pull, underestimate her skills and knowledge of cars, it irked her so bad. Major time!

Mia caught Letty's hand and pulled her to sit next to her on the bed. Letty obeyed with a scowl.

Mia smiled, "Do you remember when we went to Leon's ranch last year? When you met her brother Mike and had your first kiss with him? In front of everybody?"

Letty's face would be bright red if it weren't for the naturally tanned complexion she inherit. "What does that got to do with this?"

"Do you notice that that was the start of your feud with Dom?" Mia wiggled her eyebrows, hinting her best friend to her suggestion.

"I don't see your point" Letty huffed and folded her hands to her chest.

Mia rolled her eyes, "Can't you see?! Dom likes you!"

Letty rolled her eyes, "He likes to pissed me off, that's why"

"No! .. Um well, yeah.. But it's a sign that he likes you" Mia said, her eyes shone with glee.

Letty shook her head, and stood up. "You really should lay off that romantic stories you're reading. they give you false ideas of reality, Mi"

"Ugh! I'm telling you Let, he likes you, and he's pissed that Mike stole your first kiss"

"Why would he like me? He saw me only as an annoying addition to the family"

"He's not!"

"He said so, many times" Letty shrugged her shoulders.

"You don't get it.." Mia said with a pout, a bit hurt that Letty won't accept her idea.

"I get it, Mi. I get it a loooong time ago.. He doesn't want me, he wants a girl with massive rack, thick make up, and easy lay.."

Mia's lips tightened to a line. Realizing the fact Letty stated, she was right, those were her brother's typical choices in women, dolled up and brainless.

"Maybe he did that to make you jealous.." She let out, hoping she would listen to her.

"I'm not and never will be anything to him but the annoying kid that lives down the street. Give it up, Mi. I know I have.." Letty walked out and closed the door behind her.

Mia stared at the closed door. But she can't give it up. She must do something, she must come up with a plan, but what? And how? It's not like she can trapped them in the same room and expect them to sort their feelings, can't she? No no no.. they'll break the door in minutes. Maybe she should wait until they come to their senses. Which may happen when they're already a wrinkling bag of skin and wearing diapers, drooling all over the place.

She sighed.

.

.

"Mi.."

She heard Vince calling her before a series of knock on her door. She got up and opened the door.

"What is it?" She saw that Vince had a worried look on his face.

"Have you seen Letty?"

"No, why? Didn't she come to the garage today?"

Vince ran his fingers through his messy hair, giving it a bed hair look. "That's the problem, she hadn't come to garage in three days, no phone call, she's not home, nada. Like she disappear. Did you have a fight? I think she's avoiding us"

"No. I saw her in school, as usual, we talked at lunch, she didn't say anything just that she won't be walking home with me because she's.. There's a guy she likes for a while now, but only recently that she let him giving her a ride home"

Vince eyebrows knitted together, "a guy?"

"Yeah"

"That doesn't sound like Letty to abandon work over some guy"

"It's not just some guy.."

"What d'you mean?"

"It's Josh Miller, the school's football team's Captain"

"And that supposed to mean..?" Vince raised his eyebrow signaling Mia to elaborate further.

"He's the school's hottest guy!" Mia shrieked, "He's tall and handsome with sexy blue eyes and his dark hair is so soft and fluffy, the kind you want to run your hands through it .. and his abs-"

"Alright-alright! I get the picture!" Vince held his hands up to stop her.

Mia sighed with a dreamy look still plastered on her face.

"Well, Dom and I are heading to a party, you gonna be okay alone?"

Mia rolled her eyes. It's so typical of them, whenever his father was out of town for a race, they dig up any party they can find. "Just make sure you bring your keys, I'm not waking up at three a.m. To open door to two drunks"

"Right. Call us if anything happen, okay?"

"Okay, V. G'night" Mia smiled before closing her door. Vince nodded and head downstairs.

.

.

.

"Check that one out, bro" Vince nudged Dom's side, nodding to his left where a blonde girl in a skin tight leather mini skirt talking and giggling to another girl in pink frilly short dress.

Dom shook his head and said, "You go ahead, I got what I need right here" he nuzzled the side of the red head of the girl he was holding in his arms, the girl let out an 'aaww' before spinning around and kiss his lips. They engulf in the tongue battle and Vince decided to approached the blonde.

A few minutes later Vince were back and tapping Dom's shoulder, stopping his make out session with this week conquest.

"What?" He scowled.

Vince leaned closer to whisper, "Letty's here"

Dom spun to face him, his brows gathered in a scrunch. "What? Where?"

"Three o'clock" Vince nodded.

Dom looked her way and saw her talking and laughing on the lap of a guy.

"Who's she with?"

"That would be Josh Miller, her school's jock"

Dom let go of his hold from the girl and commanded her to stay put. She pouted but said nothing. Dom tilted his head to Vince, signaling him to follow.

"Ahem" Dom cleared his throat, interrupting Letty's laugh. The girl looked behind her and a scowl replaced the smile in a blink.

"What are you doing here?" She stood up, Josh stood behind her putting his hand on her waist possessively.

"I was about to asked you the same question" Dom smirked.

"I was having a good time, until you show up"

"Don't you think you should go home, Let? It's past your bedtime"

"Don't you think you shouldn't be ordering me around, Dom? We're not in the garage" she smarted back.

"I'm just looking out for you" he sighed lowly, desperately trying to suppressed the building anger.

"Well, thank you, what a noble thought you have. But so unnecessary, as you can see.." She tilted her head to Josh, "I got it covered, so.. Enjoy the party" she raised her red plastic cup.

That's it.

Dom slapped her cup and it slammed the floor, spilling the content to the absorbing carpet bellow.

Josh gasped as the crowd surrounding them look their way to see what the commotion was about. Letty glared at Dom.

He glared back.

Josh glanced at him, feeling unease.

"You're out of line, Toretto" she growled.

Josh pulled her away, "Let's go Let.." He whispered in her ear.

She ignored him and kept her gaze, boring to Dom's equally raging eyes.

Vince huffed behind Dom, noticing the night won't end well, and he should just forget about banging the Blondie tonight.

"You were drinking" Dom said, it was more of an accusation than a question.

Letty felt the urge to roll her eyes, but instead, she forced a smirk. He didn't even give the chance to look at her drink, and already he accused her of drinking. What a jerk. "You got a problem with that?"

"You're sixteen!"

"And your point is?" She placed her hands on her hips in challenging manner.

Josh held up his hand to Dom, "Dude.. She's not-"

"Shut up, Josh!" Letty cut him off.

"Just go home, Let" Dom growled his order. Letty scoffed.

"No" she growled back.

Dom gritted his teeth and grabbed Letty by the arm, forcefully he yanked her away from Josh and dragged her towards the exit.

"Hey!" Josh shouted, "You can't do that! You're hurting her!" He tried to catch up with Dom.

Letty struggled to release her hand from his grip. "Let go off me, jackass!"

"Shut up!"

"I won't shut up! You have no right to treat me like this! You're embarrassing me!"

"That's the idea"

Letty tried to kick him, but it have no effect. She looked at Vince, asking for help with her eyes, he shrugged his helplessness.

In the drive way, Dom threw Letty to his car.

The girl winched from the force.

Josh immediately stood between them, protecting Letty like some knight in shining armor.

"Get out of the way!" Dom growled.

"Look, I don't know what's going on between you two, but you shouldn't hurt a girl!"

Dom narrowed his eyes threateningly.

"I know you, you're Dominic Toretto right? Rumor said that you race by the railroad" Josh glanced behind him and saw Letty rubbing her arm.

"I race you" Josh blurted out.

Dom raised his brows and looked at him questioningly. Am I hearing this right?

"If I win, you leave her alone, If you win, I won't get in the way" he offered.

"Deal!" Dom said flatly.

Letty looked at Dom's furious face, not believing what she just heard, he agreed to race? But then it dawned on her and she rushed to Josh, "What the hell are you doing?"

"I-I don't know, but I can't let him hurt you" he said walking to his parked car. Letty grabbed his hand.

"Don't do this, you've been drinking! You can't concentrate on a race"

"Well, him too" He shrugged as he opened the door.

"No, Josh! I can't let you do this. This is my battle. I can't let you fight my battle. This is between me and him. I should race" Letty stood before him, determination written clearly on her face.

Josh's lips pulled to a tight line, he was thinking his options. "Can you drive?"

She nodded, stuck out her palm asking for the keys. He glanced at Dom, ready in his car. He notice Dom was looking back at him.

Josh placed the keys in her palm and leaned to kiss her lips, she kissed him back.

Dom's engine roared hoarsely.

.

.

.

She did know how to race, she saw Mr.T race a few times, she was once beside him when he practice. But to experience the race herself, to be the one behind the wheel, nothing could have ever prepared her for such a thrill, the adrenaline rushing in every inch of her body, the hum of blood pumping in her ears like a cheering melody, the engine vibrating through the deep of her bones, like she was one with the car, a soul clad inside a metal casing propelling through the wind. She felt alive, unbeatable and fantastic. It was.. Awesome.

She couldn't stop herself from grinning as she passed Dom's car, she glanced and saw him, his face was hard, determent to win this, to prove he can top her, he and his superior ego.

Her grin fell as she saw in her rear view mirror, a distinguish red and blue light flashed behind them.

Fuck. There goes the race.

Dom accelerated his car and swerved to the right of an intersection, Letty swerved and head the other way, almost clashing to another car by a few inches. She gasped but the familiar crash and bang didn't happen, so she focused on loosing the cop of her tail.

Wait.

She glanced at the rear view mirror. No cops.

She released the breath she have been holding. That means they were on Dom.

.

.

.

"That was very stupid of you Let!" Dom pushed the front door open with more force than necessary.

"Me? You're the one who ruined my night!" Letty followed behind him, her voice equally loud as Dom's.

"You just be glad that I saved you from that boy, who knows what he was putting in your drink" He turned around to face her. She stood her ground.

"He didn't put anything, I made sure of it! it's just coke.. And that 'boy' is more of a gentleman than you'll ever be!"

He shook his head.

"That's ridiculous"

"You are ridiculous, Dom. You are a man-whore that's been banging every skank in two mile radius, and then act so self-righteous in front of me? Puh-lease.. I'm not some girl that you just met"

"I just don't want you to get hurt! Can't you see that he just want to get laid?!"

"Must've missed it, in the flood of hypocrisy you've been throwing" she smirked mockingly.

He glared at her, she tilted her head to challenge him the argument.

He sighed. He hated arguing with her, because she can throw back what ever bullshit he lashed at her as fast as he can come up with one, but he also loved it seeing her devilish smirk when she's winning the argument.

"You bicker like an old couple"

Vince brushed pass them and headed to the kitchen, they were so engrossed in their argument to notice him entering the house.

"Just kiss and make up already" Mia stepped down the stairs.

"You've been listening?" Dom scrunched his brows.

"Who doesn't? I'm sure even Mrs. Evans next door didn't need her hearing aid to listen to you guys" she said shrugging and followed Vince to the kitchen.

Really? Were they loud?

Letty rolled her eyes, she knew they were loud, they were screaming to each others face, but not that loud weren't they?

She wanted to ask Dom, but he already left her and joining Mia and Vince in the kitchen. She joined them eventually, Mia was just closing the oven door and pressing the buttons.

"What d'you got there?" Letty asked, pulling a chair across from Vince.

"Leftover pizza" Mia hopped to sit on the counter.

They gathered in silence, with Dom and Letty stealing annoyed glances at each other.

"So?" Mia asked to no one in particular.

Letty raised her brow at her.

Vince slumped further down the chair.

Dom put his hands under his chin and closed his eyes.

"Okay.." Mia huffed, irritated that none of them willing to share her details of tonight's event. Looks like her plan to make Dom jealous was not working like she hoped for. Maybe she should talk to Josh again, or maybe not. Maybe she should stick to 'locking them in a room' plan.

Hours ago she was imagining Dom come home with Letty in his arms, sucking each others face off after confessing how much they needed one another and it was written in the stars that they were meant to be together, not shouting to the top of their lung.

Well, she won't stop until they're together.. ooh.. such romance, such chemistry, all they need is stop being so stubborn and realize that they're perfect for each other. They may able to strip an engine, but they're clueless when it comes to love.

Mia smiled dreamily.

Thank you... :)
