Yet another chapter to the emotional roller coaster I am putting out two favorite people through. I hope you all like this chapter (in a sense that you can stand Josh for a little while longer), since I had a relatively hard time writing it.

Please, don't hate me. I promise this is going to turn out soon enough. Our crime fighting duo will have their moments, and some good moments if my story goes as plan. Thank you to all who have reviewed my story. It actually does help me write a bit faster.

Disclaimer: I do not own Castle (unfortunately) but I do own this plot. I did not copy it from anyone, only from my devious mind that was keeping it to itself.

Kate hadn't heard from Rick since her visit twelve hours earlier. She had gone home, cried a little bit, than gone to bed. She woke up, went to the precinct after her normal morning routines and got the low-down on what was going on with Castle and his sudden stop of shadowing her.

"Mr. Castle says he has received enough research for the rest of the series, so he can stop shadowing you. As I'm sure you knew, he came in yesterday to sign the immediate termination of the contract he had with the NYPD and your team, and once you sign the papers, his privileges to go on ride-alongs, go into crime scenes, and get private information on the victims, their families and the killers will be revoked." The 12th's lawyer sat in front of her, explaining everything about the stuff she'd heard about a million times before. No matter how many times she was told, though, it still stung her.

Nodding numbly, she signed the papers where she was told and left the office, not even bothering to listen to the man's words after that. Going to her desk, she took a deep, cleansing breath as she took a drink of her water. The coldness went down her throat and got rid of the lump that had begun to form. Leaning back in her chair, she let her eyes close as she listened to her surroundings.

There was chatter throughout the bullpen, fingers fiercely hitting the keys on the keyboards to finish the last of the paperwork before almost all of them got the next week off. The laughter that rang though her ears gave her a headache, and she was tired of listening to it, so she stood and walked into the break room, sitting at one of the tables and resting her head on the cool wood, her mind beginning to race.

The one question that stuck in her mind and beat all the rest was if Castle was really going to go to the Hamptons with her or not?

The night before continued to run through her mind, the image of him leaning into her, the hug that lasted a lifetime, her walking out, it all played over and over again as if it were a clip put on repeat just to torture her. Well, it was working. She was officially on the point of breaking, again.

"Kate, are you ready to go?" Kate sat up and turned, looking at Lanie who was giving her a sad look as she stood in the doorway. Looking behind her friend she could see Ryan and Jenny standing there, talking to Esposito, who was laughing. The Captain's wife had just shown up with his 17 year old daughter and their 14 year old daughter. She always thought the Cap was at least 20 years older than her, but that wasn't the case.

Nodding, she stood up, grabbing the bottle of water and walking out of the room behind the ME. She joined the group that had formed around the cluster of desks, seeing them all give her a smile before they went back to the previous conversations.

Kate grabbed her items and walked towards the elevator, her friends in tow behind her. The elevator ride down was filled with a comfortable hum of chatter. Kate, though, was silent the entire time, her eyes on the ground.

When the door slid open, she made her way through the lobby and towards the parking lot, going towards her car. She was stopped by a rough, dark hand on her shoulder.

"Kate, you're not driving in the condition you are in. You can ride with Lanie and me." Esposito's voice was soft and almost soothing as she nodded slightly and made her way to the car that Lanie was standing by.

The car ride was silent as each car filed out of the parking lot and towards the Hamptons. Her eyes stared out the window the entire time, the building going by her eyes as they glazed over and soon she was looking at nothing but a blurry outside. The car ride to the beaches they were going to were 7 1/2 hours away, nine with traffic. Luckily, they had left relatively early, but traffic was still pretty bad. It wasn't the only thing that was bad in New York, either.

Castle hadn't slept at all that night, and the morning after wasn't that great, either. He had numbly packed his bags and gotten plane tickets to go to the Hamptons, which he knew were more hours than he could handle in a car, by himself, driving.

At nine the morning after he was at the airport, checking in the bags he had and walking through airport security to get to his gate. His plane left at nine thirty, so when he was done and at his gate at nine ten, he decided to get himself a cup of coffee. He made his way towards the coffee vender, his eyes not looking or seeing anyone around him.

The whispers around him he could handle. He could handle the staring and pointing and some of the squealing that went through the airport as he received his coffee. For the first time, though, he looked up to see a woman walking away from him.

Her brown hair reached her mid back, the curls bouncing as she walked.

Her mile long legs were visible in the black dress pants that she wore.

Her slender figure was mesmerizing as she walked, her hips swaying.

That's what gave her away, though. The night before, the image of her walking away from him was burnt into his mind. As much as this woman looked like the woman he was imagining, the sway of her hips gave her away and took him out of his daze.

As he walked to his gate he heard his flight number be called and ask that all begin to board. So, he went to the flight attendant, handed her his plane ticket, and walked onto the plane.

Being Richard Castle got him a few perks. Like one, he got to sit in first class. One that he wished he had; Kate Beckett.

She was all he could think about.

Sitting in one of the white fluffy chairs, he let his eyes close as he prepared himself for the flight that would hopefully clear his mind, only to be reminded of what he was trying to clear.

Kate had fallen asleep in the back of the car, her body curled up on the back seat of the SUV. She had only woken up by the hands on her shoulders, shaking her slightly, probably to wake her up. Her eyes slowly fluttered open as she saw Josh's face in her view, a small smile on his features as she woke up.

"Hey babe. How are you feeling?" His voice was soft as his hands softly ran over her face and pushed a few strands of hair out of her face, only to reveal the confusion that was on it.

"What do you mean? I feel fine." Kate slowly sat up, her head pounding slightly for reasons unknown.

"Lanie said that you hadn't felt well, which was why you didn't drive up here yourself." Kate's eyes wandered to behind Josh and onto Lanie, who was staring at her. Lanie knew exactly why Kate hadn't driven herself up there; and to hell if it had anything to do with how she felt. She didn't want Josh to know, though, so she turned her eyes back to his.

"My head hurts a little, but I feel better." The look of relief on his face brought a small smile to her face as she took his hands and slowly moved out of the back of the car and into the sunshine and heat of Hampton, Virginia.

The feel of his hands around her waist, pulling her close, was nice. It brought back some of the better memories. Wrapping her own arms around his neck, she returned the hug, her chin resting on her arm as her eyes scanned the people behind them. She could see a few of his friends, including the best man, her friends, including the Maid of Honor, Lanie.

None of them kept her stare for very long. There was a pair of ocean blue orbs that did keep her stare. For longer than she wished it to be. Seeing him standing there melted her into her fiancé's body. She knew he would think it was because of the hug, but she also knew that to anyone who was watching, they would know differently.

Richard Castle stood behind the crowd, leaning against the wall of the hotel like one of the 'cool kids' that leaned against the wall when the nerdy girl looked over everyone and their eyes locked. Her breath caught in her throat as he stood up a bit straighter and he let his crossed arms fall to his sides.

He didn't want to come, but he knew he had to come. For his best friend, his partner, and his soul mate. Even if they weren't together and she was getting married, as her best friend and partner, he had to watch out for her and make sure she followed through with the one decision he felt was wrong.

Their eyes stayed locked as Lanie looked at her best friend, seeing that her eyes were staring at something; or someone in this case. Following her eyesight, she saw the writer standing behind everyone in the shadows, his eyes locked on the detective's eyes. That was a sign; a sign that this was going to be one hell of an emotional rollercoaster, and one hell of a week.

This week was going to change everything.
