Sorry for the very short chapter.

I really just wanted to get something posted.

I'm taking a break from school, so hopefully updates will be more often.

Thank you all for your support.

Chapter 13: I suppose a second chance is in order

'Raven'. Her name was written out somewhat in bad handwriting on the envelope. Her head tilted in slight curiosity. This wasn't from the school, not with this handwriting. Then who was it from. It wasn't even written in pen. It had been written in pencil. Turning the envelope over, she slid her thumb under the seal and opened it. The girl pulled out a folded piece of lined paper. It was somewhat crinkled, as if it had been crumbled up into a ball and thrown into the recycle. Perhaps the person hadn't been sure about sending this letter and had had second thoughts once they had thrown it out. Raven couldn't be sure until she unfolded the paper.

Was this even worth reading she thought; probably not, but if she didn't she'd always be wondering in the back of her mind what it had said. With a slight exasperated sigh she unfolded the piece of lined paper that wasn't in good condition.

Hey Raven!

How are you? I hope you are feeling better. I know we didn't get off on the right… can't really remember what the rest of that saying is… Anyways, I thought maybe… you don't have too… but I thought you might like to do something… Yea, can you tell I'm nervous? Oh crap, I shouldn't have written that… or that… oops. Yea, I know this is probably the worst letter you've ever gotten.

Maybe we could hang out sometime. As friends that is, nothing more, I won't try anything, I swear. Ok, I think I'll end this letter now before I write something else terrible. Why did I just write that?

Number's on back of piece of paper if you want to call

Not like a date or anything, I swear, well I suppose if you wanted to we could… ok, again I think I'll stop right there

Beastboy

Her violet eyes starred at the horribly written letter with amusement. It wasn't only horribly written as in hand writing, but also in content as well. She was sure that he had meant well, but maybe he should have continued with throwing this out and possibly rewriting it, though it definitely was entertaining to read.

Was he asking her out? Sure, he had said he wasn't, but that was just to cover up the fact that he totally was. It felt kind of nice to know that somebody cared… why did she feel this way? She shouldn't even care at all. What difference would it make if he cared or not? Nothing! There would be no difference. No one on that planet mattered. They were all inferior to her.

Sure, she could tell herself that, but she still felt it in the back of her body, the want to be wanted. It made no sense. This was a human need, a human emotion. She would not let her inner human control her. It would only make her weak. She absolutely hated the idea of her being a frail insignificant human.

She still held the letter in her hand. Maybe I should just tear this up thought Raven. Her hand glowed softly, but she hesitated. She didn't think she could just destroy it like that. It meant something to her, even if it shouldn't. She couldn't deny the fact that he made her feel wanted and maybe even normal, in human standards anyways, or maybe something else… she wasn't quite sure. All she knew was that she couldn't destroy this letter.

Carefully she folded the letter and slipped it back into the envelope. She levitated a book over and placed it inside the cover then put it back.

He deserved a second chance. He had proven himself a good friend when she had needed it the most. She would accept his invitation, no matter how unclear it had been.
