I did manage to disappoint myself, so...yeah. On a better note how was your day? OuO

There was an immediate lock down. Teachers were all stuffed into the office, where a patrol of two men stood guard. Two office desks were shoved in front of the main exit. Most people were herded away from windows and doors. People were unsure of what to do and almost ran over each other in the huge mess. All they knew was to stay away from the gun.

They themselves didn't end up going very far. In the spur of their run down the hall, towards the exit, they heard several shots fired. Miku noticed that some kids hit the ground and then curled into balls to protect themselves from the stampede, and most of them seemed to make it out of the cross fire, scrambling into classrooms. She didn't think anyone had gotten seriously shot, at least not yet...

She saw a flash of white hair, Tei, dash into a random closet. There seemed to be a handful of janitorial closets, most looking unimportant and dull. Hopefully even the bullies would be okay. No one deserved death or this kind of fear. Suddenly she heard thundering foot steps in the hall not far behind her. That man, throwing around his yo-yo, was having a casual stroll with a gunman on his side. He whistled a jolly tune that was quickly drowned out by gunshots and horrible, agonized screaming. Miku, fueled by fear, found that for a moment she didn't know what to do. She suspected she wouldn't even make it, being so weak and so terrible in situations like this.

No, I have to protect myself, not to mention Teto, she reminded her self. She swallowed, a bitter taste in her mouth, and pulled Teto into an out-of-the-way closet before anyone with a gun noticed. She didn't feel they would make it into a class. But at least here, if anything. They hid next to a bucket of stale mop water which filled the room with a musty stench. But Miku's top priority right now was to stay hidden, not worry about any weird smells. Once they were crouched in a well hidden position behind a rack of mops, she scanned Teto.

Poor, poor Teto. Her chest was heaving. She cradled herself, shaking like she was having her own personal earthquake. Her skin was slick with sweat. When looking at someone who was even worse affected, Miku felt the intense need to be brave. She had to be as supportive as possible...right?

"Are you okay," she whispered, pulling out her handkerchief and delicately drying Teto's moist eyes, "Teto?" The girl shuddered like she was about to cry, but swallowed and took deep breaths until she was calm enough to reply.

"T-t-they're coming after us," she said. Miku hushed her, for her tone was louder than necessary. "They're not," the tealette assured.

"Yes they are." Teto shook her head furiously. "We ran away from them years ago, and they didn't bother us until n-now..."

"Who are they, sweetie?" She took a careful, gentle tone.

"I don't know...a company, a major company. Kuro-kun and Ru-chan wouldn't tell me, they said that they shouldn't have to..."

"Wait, Kagene - um, Rei-kun and Neru are involved?"

Teto glanced at her fearfully, her eyes glittering, and nodded slightly. The window in the door was covered with a translucent paint that allowed some light in, but no one could really look into the tiny room. At least, you couldn't see the two girls inside.

"Haku is...Haku is in it too."

"Oh, Teto-chan," Miku whimpered, feeling a heavy sympathy for them. Questioned backgrounds, odd characteristics, this all clicked. They weren't regular people. They all lived in apartments away from their families, that is, if they even had families other than Miku's. It was because she thought she knew everything about them that she constantly decided not to ask. Now was not a time that she could afford the luxury of shutting up, however.

"What happened that you're so scared of them?"

The girl with hot pink hair was skittish, and she tried to keep her mouth sealed for a moment. But the silence was almost deadly, so she ended up exposing her secret.

"For a very long time, since we met, Neru, Rei, Haku and I have been running away. Something horrible wants us back. It was a big lab, where they kept a bunch of kids for stuff we didn't like to do. We got the chance to leave, and we've been so, so happy we didn't think they would find us again. But they still have their ways of making everyone obey, they used to not feed me for days when I misbehaved. And always lots of blood, I can always smell it when I think of them. I can, I think I can smell it now. O, God-" she wretched, and Miku flinched. There was only the bucket in there, which was mostly filled anyway. But she forced herself to be strong and pressed her lips together. She held down every hiccup, because she knew her noise would help the guys outside in locating them.

"So...you all had this hidden from me the whole time?"

Teto looked fearful, like there were repercussions she had ignored until now.

"We had to. Please don't be angry, Mi-chan, we didn't think we would see them again." Miku could never, ever be angry with Teto. There was no clear time she could remember it. She almost tried to hug her. Of course, on the inside her heart was pounding, and she almost couldn't breathe. Hugs from Teto would make her suffocate.

This had to be the second time someone came after Miku...Unless they weren't coming after her? With the way she was acting it might have been her friends they were looking for...

But no. She felt the intense, frightening gaze burn into her and no one else. And his stare was terrifying. Even though it was nothing like Len's, it held a solid contempt.

She blinked, and then slowly turned down to her bracelet, whose glow seemed to reveal a keen patience. It was waiting - or rather, Len was waiting - for her call.

She reached down and pressed the cold jewel, hard, as if that would present anymore urgency for the situation. A muted beep came to resound. Afterwards she begged and begged that God would help her now.

"W-what..." Teto murmured, staring dazedly at the light it produced.

"I just sent for help. We're going to be okay. I won't let them take you away, Teto-chan. Not you, not anybody." Now, it seemed, a hug was the best thing she could offer. But it was so brief, it barely existed.

After a painful wait for an unknown amount of time, Miku noticed it had gone quiet outside. She was taking shallow breaths through the mouth, for the closet was stuffy and still smelled strongly. Teto was having a nervous little nap, which was pointless judging from the amount of times she jerked awake. Her legs were falling asleep, but Miku kept in a light crouch just in case she needed to jump up for something.

For some reason, the noise and the light outside was almost back to normal. She hated to think that she was hiding in the closet for nothing, in all honesty, although she felt it was better to be safe than sorry and decided to wait quite a while where she was.

She didn't know how Teto managed to fall asleep at any point. Every frantic sentence of her vague story seemed to burn a picture of agony and fear, so maybe the pinkette was simply used to these conditions during her sleep. But it felt so horrible to think a dear friend had been living like this without telling her anything. She couldn't comfort herself, not efficiently, so she passed the time by asking herself a lot of questions and providing her best answers. She had very vague ideas of where her friends came from, and not much solid information. It could be her fault. She never really knew when it was right to ask questions. Maybe they didn't trust her enough...after all, she was just another spineless teen with a selfish impression of the world, seeing it as her home for her family and not much else.

This balance of thought and distress tempted her to press the gem once more, but she could just imagine wrath simmering in his eye and decided not to risk ruining his temper further. She had been told it was like an electric shock to him. She had also been told the habit of finding comfort in her gift from Kaito was something he had trained her to do when she was little. Perhaps all of that was predetermined. They had decided when they would appear in her life, when they would try to kill her and such. She meditated on why Len hated her, and why she kind of disliked him. Apparently, her existence was a problem for most people, her own Patronus included. She thought, in the end, there would be nothing so good about him like Ruko and Luka told her. They probably just wanted to make her feel better.

Miku glanced at her pocket. Her phone was dead, and Teto's was in her locker. Len was really the last hope, so as much as they couldn't stand each other she found herself yearning to see him again.

Teto whimpered, scrambling to sit up straight. She rubbed her red eyes and brushed hair out of her face. This snapped the tealette out of her reverie, returning her to a real, frightening situation.

"Miku-chan, it's gotten quieter," she said softly, confirming Miku's suspicion.

"Do you think they left for some reason?" She asked. But she immediately regretted it, for Teto's eyes shone with hope at the unlikely idea. How it would hurt if she was to discover men still lurking around.

"Maybe the 'help' you called for really worked," she whispered.

Actually, Miku hadn't considered what would happen when Len came. Would he search for her in the building, or save the day and disappear as quietly as he had come? All she knew was that there was an itching wonder she could not relieve.

"Please stay here." She rose to her feet, almost falling back down because of pins and needles. Also, Teto tried to drag her back down, but the girl didn't succeed.

"No!" Came they harsh, worrisome cry. "They've got guns!"

"But if I don't try to investigate, we'll just stay in here forever," the tealette replied with a sad smile. Her bangs tickled her, irritated her. She'd been so afraid, there was no notice of the much-needed clip. In fact, she assumed it was probably gone for good. So was the bento. But she hoped to God Neru, Haku and Rei were safe. She didn't even want to think of what might happen to her siblings, but she felt they were okay. It seemed, for now, she was the main target.

Which made Teto a target.

"Just don't move from this spot, and I promise no one will find you," she said in a light, panicked voice. Her friend shook her obstinate head, twin drills bouncing.

"I...I want to come with you," Teto confirmed, looking more determined then ever. The fear was not gone, but it was miniscule. She was sick of hiding in the closet, and Miku knew that no amount of pleading would make her change her mind.

With Teto huddled close behind, Miku took a few careful steps to the door. It was hazy, because of a special privacy paint, but she could see the general light and colors. The hall was still lit up. There were colored lumps on the ground, what she presumed, with much horror, to be the students. Some lay in amorphous lakes of blood, others were hopefully playing dead.

But no one else was there.

She peered as far as possible through the narrow frame of the little window, and found that she didn't see anyone headed in from either direction.

"I think we can leave," she said, her voice raising just a little. "I'm not sure, but we might be able to make it." Her fingers wrapped around the icy doorknob. If this door had been closed, maybe they would be dead. She suddenly felt a wave of gratitude, stronger than even the cold metal. Teto squeezed her arm again, as though she was feeling the same way.

The door seemed to take forever to move away. When it did there was nothing much to see. A couple of teens their age writhing in agony on the floor, holding an extremity that had been mangled or shot. Miku felt the deathly grip of fear which made her heart drop low into her stomach, but slowly turned her eyes away. She kept telling herself, "someone will come to help them." Even if she partially couldn't believe that, it comforted her just enough that she kept moving. She even passed the closet that Tei had hidden in. It seemed said girl had hidden carefully.

Miku was moving towards the exit, which she failed to do last time. A lot of students laying on the floor looked up at her. Apparently, a good number were "playing 'possum" and had just slapped on some blood, already provided for them by students that were hit, before dropping to the ground and hiding beneath bodies. She saw them peer at her expectantly, like her coming out meant she was here to rescue then. What reason did they have to lay on the floor like that for so long when the man and his group were gone? Her eyes came to rest on one boy that she recognized as Yuuma's friend. His appeared panicked, despite not budging an inch. There was an urgent message burning in his mind. And then, for Miku, it clicked.

"Wait...if you guys are still here, then that means...they are?" She wished she could calm the heightened panic of her tone, but there was no way. The boy suddenly went limp again. She noticed his opened left eye flicker to the far right before closing.

"Mi-chan," Teto managed to say in her quivering voice. She nudged, bidding for just a sliver of attention.

Both girls turned where he had looked and realized the man at the other end of the hall, tie tossed to the ground, as he played tricks with his yo-yo. He greeted them with a sick smile.

"Been waiting for you long enough. These kids you go to school with are no fun," he cackled. Although her first response was to stop moving, the tealette tightly held onto Teto's hand and turned the other way, hoping to run.

She stopped, as a massive man with an AK-47 stepped in their way. Behind him there was a whole team of others. He motioned the gun back towards his boss, before pressing the end to her shoulder as a warning. She noticed an odd little black box, blinking with green numbers and beeping softly. It was strapped to his bare bicep.

"Come here." The lead dog put his yo-yo into his pocket and folded his hands in front of him. He waited as his gunner herded the girls toward him, but his smile never faded. Teto began shuddering uncontrollably, and it only got worse as they neared him.

After a painful walk through a hallway of blood, they were all a foot away from each other.

"Well now," he laughed, "we were wondering when you were gonna step out of your closet so the fun can begin." He reached out to put a hand on her shoulder. She flinched away. Miku was not hoping to feel the repulsive touch of a murderer.

"Who are you and what do you want with me?" She whispered. She was held between this man's sharp smile and the other's lethal gun. It was not really a rock and a hard place, but one could certainly compare it.

He frowned when she shied away from his hand. "Miku, Miku, Miku. I'm not here to hurt you. My friend Brutus over there, however, he's equipped to blow this shithole to pieces. If you don't want to see a fireworks display made of your friends, I'd suggest you listen to me."

Well, the fact that he left all those kids alive, filled with lead but still breathing, she figured he did want to make a deal here. But she didn't respond. She had already asked him what he wanted. Her eyes were glued to the floor.

"Hand me your bracelet. And your phone."

"Excuse me?" She glanced back up at him fretfully.

"Don't play dumb. I know what you can do with that thing. Now hand it to me." He held out his hand, with an impatient glare on his face. She heard Teto gasp as the gun thumped her shoulder blade.

"Okay," she said, her voice shaking. First she tugged her phone from her pocket and dropped it in his palm. He hastily slid it into his own pocket, close to the yo-yo. His hungry eyes devoured the bracelet from where he stood. While everyone could tell what he wanted, they didn't know what he was thinking. Miku, even in the current situation, was hesitant in giving it away to this man.

"Now or I'll send blood flying all the way to China," he demanded. She slowly slid it off and let it drop into his hand. Was it too much to say her heart died a little with this sight? At least, now he wouldn't harm the others...

He seemed to feel it's weight in his palm, like he could judge its worth this way. "So this is how easy it is to take over a building, and...catch the princess. Huh. You're really not anything special, are you? Now we're going on a little trip. Brutus, set the bomb somewhere," he said carelessly, and the group of men parted to let their leader walk down to the exit on the other end of the hall.

"No! You said you wouldn't!" Miku cried, forgetting the fear for herself for just a minute.

Brutus latched onto her shoulder with a painfully tight grip and started dragging her off. She yelped. Teto began to scream as another man grabbed her. She tried to deliver a flurry of kicks but to no avail.

"I lied. Besides, it would be better to kill all the witnesses in one blow," the red-eyed maniac responded dismally. Brutus ripped the bomb's straps off of his arm and pressed in into the wall. He tapped a couple of keys which led to a tinkling noise, and then a louder series of beeps. The small numbers on the pad read ten minutes.

"Let us go, stop the bomb! Please, I'll-" she stopped.

"You'll what?" He laughed slowly. "You'll cry me a river?"

He turned to her, but realized she wasn't looking directly at him. This dimmed the satisfaction of a real takeover. Her stare appeared to be going straight through him, and through the reflection in her wide, fragile teal eyes he could just barely make out a moving figure.

That, of course, was a second before a barrage of pain and force rammed against the back of his head and sent him flying into the apathetic embrace of the ground. He hit the smooth waxed floors straight onto his face.

Miku's stomach lurched as a painful crunch echoed through the space, making everyone stop what they were doing. Teto stopped screaming. The men wouldn't move an inch in their combat boots. Even the bomb seemed to pause for just a minute, as if it was an onlooker. The dark-haired man slowly lifted his head for all to see. There was a steady stream of blood pouring from his nose, which anyone would figure was broken. It was bent and slowly turning a deep shade of purple. Len stood behind him, staring nonchalantly at the damage he had done. This routine bored him to death; he didn't usually do rescues, but he knew best when it came to breaking things. Now, the raven knew it was Len, and the bitterness, the awful recognition flamed to life in his damned red eyes. He suddenly gave a piercing shriek, spittle flying.

A curious behavior in any group is their loyalty. If you are stronger than their leader, they recognize this without much difficulty. If they have any respect for this person they will follow in their footsteps and fight. If not, they won't move.

The blond turned to address the entire group. "We all know how this works, right? You get one warning; drop your weapons, give me the girl, so on and so forth. If you ignore me I will bend your spine in ways you never imagined. Now get on with it because I have somewhere to be in an hour." Teto gaped. It was not just a regular o of surprise, it was the capital O in Oh Shit. One man had her arms locked behind her back, holding her torso, and the other held her pencil thin legs. Suddenly Len's crisp blue eye came to rest on her, and she flinched as though he tried to throw a rock at her.

"You two, drop the little one." They instantly did as they were told, and Teto fell on her rear with a thud.

"Now the guns," he said in a disdainful tone, like he couldn't believe how many idiots he had to deal with. Nonetheless they listened to this too. Every gun hit the floor with a hideous clatter.

"And you, stop the bomb. Last thing I need is being blamed for the destruction of a high school." Brutus turned, with some distress, towards the bomb. He tapped the keypad a couple of times and the numbers magically popped into red, all frozen. They might've been awaiting more orders with their stiffness.

Len finally, finally turned to look at Miku, and even then all he focused on was the hand Brutus had firmly clasped on her shoulder. It was such a hateful, murderous expression. It was the kind a reclusive, troubled child gives you when you touch their toys. Slowly, Brutus let go. Pain was still lingering through the delicate mesh of nerves in the tealette's upper back.

"So. Do you remember me?" The man slowly stood up, holding his broken nose in his hand while deep red came down in rivers over his mouth. The rest of his face was also contorted, but more so with anger and not because all of it had been broken. Len couldn't be that powerful.

"You remember the day we met? What you did devastated me. But then I thought, what kind of pleasure would it bring me to take away what you treasure the most?" The way he scanned Miku was unjustified. It was depraved in ways one could not fathom. She shuddered, wondering what kind of horrible things he did to gain this opportunity.

"I can remember your friend...Her name was Zatsune, or something. She was an easy target. Weak. She snapped like a twig." Len spoke slowly, like he was taunting with his words.

There would have been more than talk, Some kind of fist fight, but the way he could warn with just his frozen expression kept the angry, wounded man at bay. It scared the tealette, too. She was rather new to such a world of violence. She had permanently burned the faces of that gang, the one that had been torn apart in front of her, into her mind. But Len spoke of that girl like she was nothing worth remembering.

"You're not allowed to say her name," said the raven, lowly. "I promised her vengeance."

"Like this? You could have picked a better crew, or you could've just taken her by yourself because she isn't strong enough to fight you off. And yet you chose to invade her school. That makes it a much better idea to leave you to the authorities, because trust me, the board of education would have your head on a platter for this."

"Oh, but here's the thing," the wounded man laughed, "I wouldn't have seen you if I didn't cause a commotion. And the Big Man, you know...He sent me to do just that." He revealed his charming red yo-yo and clicked a ridged button on the side, with great ceremony, to reveal large silvery spikes protruding out of the gap in its side. He began to swing it swiftly by the string, a vivid weapon designed perfectly for its owner. Miku wondered how he ever played with it if it was such a monstrous tool.

"Nice toy," Len cracked. I am inclined to believe he's crazy! Miku's mind screamed. That's death's toy right there. Oh, Kami.

The man gave his most twisted, psychopathic smile, which split his face with grotesque madness. The swinging became more aggressive, as his blond enemy waited patiently and unimpressed.

"You made a mistake leaving me alive when you killed my sister, Kagamine Len. But trust me, I can correct it!"

The fight, although appearing violent, was rather anticlimactic. Len was a very calm, speedy person, who dodged a blow like he was crossing a street during a red light. The other men mostly watched. They didn't dare undo what they were told, so the bomb remained frozen in time as well as the team.

But it seemed the Patronus was just entertaining Zeito, who was giving his all to attack but never receiving anything more than a block or evasion. He mostly tried to aim for the head because that would work best in reaching his goal. Each time the yoyo came flying at him, Len slipped just out of reach. The vivid red passed as a blur. Zeito tried to swipe his feet out from under him with a low kick, but Len countered it deftly. How Zeito didn't get frustrated with this game, no one knew. No one could read his mind, after all.

What could Len possibly be thinking? Maybe he was thinking about how bored he was, or how pathetic Zeito's plan was. Maybe he was angry that he had to come rescue Miku again. In this fight his expression was blank, so maybe it was none of those things.

He glanced at the buff and brash Brutus, who's hand inched clasped around something in his pocket.

This slight second of distraction had allowed a huge opening. Zeito turned from Len and stared directly at Miku, winding his arm to swing. All she really looked at was his face, his revenge-filled eyes and the broken nose that had rather blackened to match his hair. All she could muster was an expression of sympathy. She noticed the yo-yo of doom too late, just as it was about to impale her face.

Len snatched his arm and yanked him back as the longest spike was a centimeter away from her left eye - she was practically blinded by its gleam before it suddenly flew away from her. He threw the raven headfirst into Brutus, who was slammed backwards into the wall. The yo-yo flew across the hall and landed in a sticky puddle of blood. Then he scooped up a gun and began shooting across the room. Not a bullet was wasted, as there were men that dropped like flies. Some were hit just before they could reach their guns. Others tried to run away and were shot in the back of the head. Brutus would've reached for his own gun if he hadn't received a bullet to his forearm and two others to his chest.

The noise came to an abrupt stop, once the last man fell.

"Len," Miku whispered, aching with fear and relief and an emotion that was almost like happiness but more empty than anything she had ever felt.

Suddenly he turned to gun on her, appearing so fierce that she believed she was about to die. She didn't move. She knew he was too fast for her to protect himself.

Teto tackled her before she could even react, and then she heard the sound of a bullet piercing flesh and grazing metal. The shell danced across the floor and came to roll right next to her foot.

She looked up and saw Zeito, cradling his bloody hand to his chest. His eyes appeared more calm, no, more dead than before. She saw tears spring into their red depths.

"You always win, don't you. And yet you don't finish me off," he whispered. A trickle of crimson streamed down his chin.

Len dropped the gun in his hand. There was one last glance that showed absolute full attention for his enemy. Then he said in a slow, mechanical tone, "I did finish."

Zeito slowly moved his palm, looking down at his chest and saw a torrent of blood decorate the floor in spatters. With a weak little whimper, he dropped. And he didn't move again.

It was over. Blood was everywhere, wounds peppered the building. But those men were dead. Like last time, they would be engrained in her mind. Zeito had an entire story that she didn't know or understand, and it had just gone to waste at the hands of a Patronus. They were made to protect people but they were trained to break them. How painfully counterintuitive.

Teto tightly gripped Miku's arms.

"You're one of them now?" She begged like she was hoping it couldn't be true. She made full eye contact with Len for the first time.

"Apparently. And just so you know, I'd never shoot her," he replied. The vague gesture he made towards Miku made her feel like a background character.

Soon enough, however, he grabbed her away from Teto and pulled her up. Her legs were dangling uselessly. He scowled, making it clear that her behavior would always upset him.

"Not this again," he snapped. "this is not the first or last time we will be in this situation. Do you honestly believe you can afford to be scared? Suck it up, dammit." Now, Miku knew he was being worse to her than when they met. She could confirm it. Before it was a feeling of indifference, but it had become a more pointed sensation of aggression. It was like he was slowly hating her more and more...and it stung.

The pink-haired friend quickly rose to brace Miku against her and was suprisingly helpful. It felt wrong that she was involved in this deeper than need be but Miku had no way of preventing her involvement, at least, not anymore.

"You killed them all. You said you - you wouldn't if they did as you said," she stammered.

He sent her a bone-chilling glare. "I lied."

Murderer.

"We need to clean up some things before the Cops get here," he continued like he wasn't talking to her. "Put together a picture so that they think they know what happened." Miku's eyes wandered over the thick pools of blood, with the occasional lump of what she thought could be flesh. She couldn't swallow. Vomiting didn't seem unlikely.

He picked up the elegantly weaved ring of gold that had dropped from Zeito's free hand and tossed it to Miku carelessly. She caught it and wasted not a all single second apart from it. Being sentimental and very loving, she had a hard time parting with anything that reminded her of people she loved. There was immediate relief in being able to hold it again. She pulled away from Teto, and stood on her own.

"He had your phone, too, right?" He looked up at her, waiting for a response. But then, it seemed, he changed his mind and dug it out of Zeito's pocket immediately. He tossed this one too. She caught it, her numb fingers fumbling with the devise. She paused, with Teto, as they watched him silently. He didn't do anything very interesting, but neither could really turn away. It was like the appeal of a basic horror film.

"Len," she muttered, just trying out the name. It seemed like an often used word in her vocabulary. She knew that it couldn't be, but it felt nostalgic to say it now. "They're dead."

"Go ahead and entertain yourself with basic phrases, Princess. This won't take long." She felt an indignant expression take over her face, and she wasn't sure if it was because of the "princess" part or the way he brushed off the slaughtered human beings at his feet.

He flipped Brutus' corpse over and patted him down until he found a small grip handle with a vivid red button on the top end. Or, in shorter terms, an emergency detonator. He took this and the bomb on the wall before throwing the body back into place. In hindsight, his treatment of dead bodies was not any more gentle than his treatment of the living.

"Hold this for me." He handed Teto the bomb in a more direct, polite manner than throwing, and somehow Miku acknowledged the stab of envy. She seemed to be treated worse than her friend.

"My name is Teto," she responded.

"That's nice." He seemed oddly placid. Miku had never thought he had anything to say better than some cruel threats and Russian profanities, but apparently he had the intelligence of a regular person and could carry out a simple conversation.

She quickly snapped the thought away, shaking her head. A blush of shame settled on her cheeks. What am I thinking? That's an awful thing to even consider!

"And yours is Len!"

"What about it?" He asked as he curled Brutus' cold dead fingers around the gun he had used to shoot Zeito. When he was satisfied with the way it looked, he walked over to where the yoyo was and proceeded carefully to pick it up. He swung it a few times and frowned as though he were unhappy with the design.

"This was the Kagamine-san you were talking about?!" Teto sucked in a huge gasp. "All the weird behavior...the lying...the time spent away from home...Mi-chan are you in love with him?!"

Miku bloomed a deep red, like a rose before piping, "No! Never in a million years!"

Len snickered. "Well doesn't that just break my fucking heart."

The spikes retracted obediently into the yo-yo and he pocketed it.

"Alright, the ride home is waiting outside. Lets go." It was curious how he called it "home" and somehow Miku knew he was referring to Luka's mansion. She was pretty sure he didn't live there. But the home is where the heart is, so...maybe his heart was with them? Nah, she couldn't believe it.

"I can't go," said Teto, gripping the bomb with vice. "My family's still around here somewhere and I-"

"All the freaks are piled into the car already."

"Huh?" Both Teto and Miku chirped in unison.

"I'm under the impression that genetic mishaps are attracted to you like magnets and nails. All your friends? Yeah, we know them," he said casually, like it was a common occurrence.

She froze up. What? Her friends were pure human, pure flesh and blood. They never showed any specific unnatural talents - she paused. No, that was a stupid thing to think. Neru was tough, a natural-born leader. Rei could practically read minds and project his thoughts without speaking. And Teto - what she said could possibly link up with Shion Corp.

The only question that remained was who are these monsters and what did they do to my family?
