Chapter 13: Worst. Christmas. Ever

Part 1: Harry

Harry's Christmas began with another dream. This one seemed to be inside some sort of throne room, as two large bone-made thrones sat at the end. A very tall, menacing looking, man sat on one. He had long black hair, a robe that seemed to have tormented faces for the fabric, and a large sword was sheathed at his waist. Next to him sat a beautiful woman with a dress that looked like it was made of leaves. She looked extremely bored, she was twirling something in her hand. At first, Harry thought it was a hand Grenade, but he looked closer and saw it was a pomegranate.

A voice that sent chills up Harry's spine spoke in the shadows to his right.

"Master," it hissed, "We have searched all over Britain, but we could not find him."

"Dammit." The man said, "How has he avoided me four twelve years?"

"Language, dear." The woman said sarcastically, her voice sent thoughts of spring through Harry's head.

"Are you sure that he's still alive, master?" The voice asked.

"Of course I'm sure!" The man snapped, "I can sense if people have died, Alecto."

"My apologies, Master."

"Have you checked on any leads?"

"Yesss," Alecto hissed, a hint of sadistic hunger in her (At least Harry assumed Alecto was a she) voice, "He almost died while trying to kill a toddler."

"What was this child's name?" The man asked.

"Harry Potter."

A chill went up Harry's spine, he didn't like where this was going.

"Potter… I recognize the name…"

"It was a pair of people who died twelve years ago." The woman said, "The judges sent them to Elysium."

"Ahh, thank you Persephone," the man replied offhandedly.

"You're welcome," Persephone said spitefully, and in a whisper she added, "It's quite bad that I can remember the dead better than you."

"We should question this Potter." The man continued, either not hearing her or ignoring her, "Bring him to me… Alive!"

"Wouldn't it be easier to just kill him?" Alecto asked in a disappointed tone.

"No, I'd have to fill out a lot of paperwork for why I had an innocent mortal killed, than I'd have to testify on Olympus. It's just less of a hassle to capture him."

Harry's vision faded, and then he awoke to Ron complaining.

"Mum knows I hate maroon."

Harry put on his glasses and saw Ron looking at his newest sweater, maroon as usual.

Harry saw Percy sitting at the end of his own bed, wearing a blue sweater with the letters "PJ" sewn in gold that Mrs. Weasley seemed to have knitted; he was opening a present with a blue cupcake at his side. Leo was messing around with a handful of mechanical pieces; he was wearing a red sweater. Jason was Reading a book, but the title was in what looked like Latin, so Harry couldn't read it. He had a cyan colored sweater.

"Maybe she thinks it brings out the color of your eyes." Percy said sarcastically.

"Whatever 'PJ'." Ron replied.

"What're you reading?" Harry asked Jason.

"'Greek and Roman Battle Strategies'."

"Why is it written in Latin?"

"I'm practicing speaking Latin." Jason said simply.

Harry thought that was odd, but he didn't press the subject. As he opened his own presents, Harry's thoughts drifted to the dream he had. The only thing he knew for certain was something was coming for him. He brushed the thought of it aside; it was probably just a dream. Harry got a sweater from Mrs. Weasley too, his green. He also got a book called "Quidditch Teams of Britain and Ireland" from Ron, and another book, this one from Professor Lupin, called "Dark Creatures of This World" which had an entire chapter about Dementors.

After opening their presents, The five of them met Hermione in the Common Room, she was reading a book.

"Wow, Hermione's reading a book, shocking." Leo said.

Hermione glared at him, though it seemed half-hearted.

"It's a book Annabeth gave me." She replied.

"Well, read it later, breakfast won't eat itself." Ron said hungrily.

Hermione rolled her eyes.

They met the other Americans outside the Great Hall, Annabeth had her nose in a book dedicated to architecture, Piper had a Native American headband on her head, complete with an Eagle feather, Frank didn't seemed have anything, but Hazel wore a T-shirt that had "Marti Gras 2013" written on it, she also wore a necklace with a running horse design.

They ate breakfast and went to back to the Common Room where they played Wizard Chess while Hermione read her book. Percy was horrible at it as he kept getting distracted, Leo seemed to busy trying to figure out how the pieces worked to actually play, but Jason was actually quite good at it. He was actually the first person Harry seen beat Ron at Chess. They were putting the Chess board back when they heard an explosion.

They six of them ran out of the Common Room to the source of the explosion. They found it near the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom. A gaping hole was in the wall, debris was lying everywhere, and standing at the center was three old women.

At least that's what they had looked like at first. They really had bat-like wings, Claws, glowing eyes, and yellow fangs.

"What are they?" Harry asked.

"Those three old ladies?" Ron asked, looking confused.

"You don't wanna know." Percy said grimly. "You guys better get out of here."

"What about you?" Harry said.

To his surprise, Hermione said, "I think they can handle themselves Harry."

"But…"

"Just go!" Annabeth shouted.

Harry unwillingly followed Hermione and Ron, but Hermione stopped around the first corner.

"Why'd we stop?" Ron asked, looking horrified.

"Let's just wait here," Hermione replied, "you know, in case they do need help."

Harry had a feeling she knew something he didn't, but decided not to push her as he peeked around the corner to watch the battle between the Americans and the demon-women.

Part 2: Percy

Percy was getting fed up with the Furies. First they'd tried to kill him to get the Master Bolt, then they captured him on Hades' orders, and worst of all, Alecto, their leader, had been Percy's Pre-Algebra teacher.

The three Furies stood there now for Gods-know-what reason, (No, really, Hades probably knew), and were about to fight him again.

At least he had Annabeth at his side.

"Hey Mrs. Dodds, what's up?" Percy said.

Alecto hissed, "Jackson, I knew I smelled your scent."

"What're we, Beef Jerky?" Leo muttered.

"Leo," Annabeth warned, "this is not the time."

"If you value your lives," Alecto said, "you'll move, demigods. We only seek the Potter boy."

"Why does Hades want Harry?" Piper asked, her dagger, Katropis, held at the ready.

"Let's just say he has a few questions, and he doesn't want to go through the hassle of killing him."

"So," Leo said, "he'd rather go through the hassle of capturing him? Wouldn't it be easier to just kill him?"

"That's what I said!" Alecto agreed.

Percy knew Leo was buying for time. If they didn't attack now, they might lose the edge. Percy noticed a knight helmet lying by his foot. He barely glanced at Jason and Annabeth, signaling them to get ready. Percy knew they got the message when Jason's grip on his gladius tightened, and Annabeth's brow creased in concentration. Percy made sure that the Furies were busy with Leo's distraction, they were. He quickly reached down and picked up the helmet. He then threw it at Alecto. Before she could react, the helmet flipped over and her head slid into the space. She leaped into the air with shock with the helmet's back covering her face. She looked like a demon-lady knight who put her helmet on backwards.

"Get it off me! Get it off me!" she screamed.

Hazel reacted first, she leaped forward and slammed the butt of her spatha onto the helmet, a trick that Percy had taught her. The helmet emitted a hollow dong! As if it was a small bell. While Alecto writhed in pain, the other two Furies launched themselves forward. The first went to Annabeth, who barely dodged the Fury's charge by diving to the right. The second one Flew at Frank who dived to the ground. While the first Fury had recovered from its miss and was attacking Annabeth and Piper, the one who had attacked Frank wasn't so lucky. She missed Frank and slammed spread-eagle onto the wall.

Frank turned around to see a very angry, flatten nosed Fury. Frank quickly turned into a bull, and smashed her back into the wall. Jason and Leo charged forward to help him. Percy focused his attention on Alecto, who'd managed to pull the helmet off and was battling Hazel. Percy charged forward and jumped.

"Hey ugly!" he shouted.

Alecto turned only to get a face full of Percy's shoe as he kicked her. She stumbled back and screeched. She then leaped forward and formed her fiery whip out of thin air. She swung the whip at Percy, but he managed to deflect it off of Riptide. Hazel took the opportunity to summon a large chunk of silver and lob it at Alecto. With a loud BAM! the silver found it's mark at the back of her head. Alecto fell, looking dazed. And began to rise again.

Percy heard a girl scream and looked over to see one of the other Furies holding Piper in the air by her throat. Percy was about to try to help her, but Annabeth beat him to it. She lunged forward and stabbed the Fury in the back of her knee. The Fury screamed and dropped Piper, who quickly got back up. Before the Fury could recover, Piper stabbed her in the forehead. The Fury exploded into dust as it died. At the same time, Jason impaled the second Fury, pinning her to the wall.

"Heads up!" Leo shouted as he summoned fire into his hand.

Jason leaped out of the way as Leo shot a torrent of fire out of his hand. The Fury shouted in shock as the fire slammed into her. She exploded into dust just like her sister. Jason's sword fell to the floor, glowing red-hot.

"I'm not touching that for a while." Jason said.

"PERCY!" Hazel screamed.

Percy spun around to see Alecto flying towards him, whip in hand. Percy didn't have time block or dodge…

"Expelliarmus!" a voice yelled behind Percy.

Alecto's whip flew out of her hand falling out of the gaping hole in the wall. She looked at her empty hand in shock, giving Percy the chance he needed to duck and stab her stomach as she flew overhead. Alecto turned around and began to slash with her claws.

"Immobulus!" another voice yelled, this time a girl.

Alecto froze in mid-air, a look of shock on her face. Percy looked in the direction of the voices and saw Harry and Hermione standing there wands at the ready.

"Thanks," Percy said gratefully. "I owe you."

Before anyone could say something, Alecto broke free of Hermione's spell and charged at her and Harry.

Ron appeared around the corner and shouted "Petrificus totalus!"

Alecto's arms, legs, and wings snapped straight down, causing her to fall to the ground.

The ten of them surrounded her.

"Yeah," Leo said, "If you want to get Harry, you'll have to go through us!"

"And then you'll have to go through them." Percy agreed gesturing to Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Before Alecto had a chance to talk, if she could while being paralyzed, Percy stabbed her in the throat. She exploded into dust.

The seven demigods collapsed, exhausted.

"That," Hermione began, "was amazing!"

"What were those things?" Harry asked.

"The Furies." Percy said with disgust.

"Right," Ron said, "well, if you don't mind. COULD YOU TELL US WHAT THE BLOODY HELL A FURY IS?!"

"Ron calm down." Hermione hissed.

"No!" Ron shouted, "Not until you tell me what's going on, what were those things, why'd they attack us, why'd you fight them, WHAT'S GOING ON?!"

"How about this, we calm down, fix the wall and tell you the truth." Percy suggested.

"Truth?" Harry asked.

"Yeah, we're demigods."

So now Harry and Ron know. And Ron's appropriately freaking out. I'll try to update sometime next week. Thank you for waiting! :D
