13 - Isolation
Saturday morning Haley pulled up her jeep at Mercer´s mansion, Trent, who was walking outside recognized her so he stood among some bushes and
camouflaged with them.
"Thank you the ride and for not telling Tommy, he would freak out if he knew" Kim told Haley
"To be honest Kim, I don´t like this man either" Haley said taking a deep breath "He suddenly donated those Christmas trees, then fixed your car and bought
you a new outfit" Haley said pensive
"Yeah, he is so mean" Kim answered sarcastically "Don´t worry, I can take care of myself" Kim said
"I know, but Kim, watch out" Haley warned her as she got off from the jeep
"I´m just picking up my car and leave" Kim sighed and shut up the door "Bye Haley" She waved her
Kim walked over to the steel gate and pushed the bottom of the electrical doorman system, a voice answered asking her to state her name
"I´m Kimberly Hart and I´m looking for Dr Mercer" Kim stated
The door opened and she stepped in, she followed the path until the main house door. Before the steel door was closed Trent hurried out.
Inside Mercer´s house
The maid let Kimberly in and made her wait at the living room. Some minutes later Dr Mercer showed up, Kim placed the cup of coffee onto the coffee table and
stood up.
"Good morning Ms Hart, It´s always nice to see you" Dr Mercer said
"Good morning Dr Mercer, I came to pick up my baby" She answered
"It is waiting for you at the garage" Dr Mercer informed
"Dr Mercer" Kim cleared up her throat "I want to pay you back for repairing my car" Kim stated
"No Ms Hart, we´ve already talked about it and you owed me nothing" Dr Mercer said
"Dr Mercer, please accept my payment because I feel like I am abusing of our friendship" Kim insisted
"There is only one kind of payment I will take" Dr Mercer stated "Piano lessons" ¨He said
AT Kim´s house
"Piano lessons?" Aisha sighed while cooking some hotcakes "Tommy is totally freaking out!" she said
"Yeah, that´s why you´re not going to open your big mouth" Kim said from the seat
"What? Did you say yes?" Aisha sighed turning to face her friend
"Well, I have so much free time for the moment and I´m going to need the money if I want to run my own Gym" Kim answered
"That´s great! But lying Tommy is not a good idea" Aisha said
"I´m not lying, I´m just keeping it from him" Kim cleared up
"In other words, lying" Aisha said as she placed the hotcakes onto a plate and poured some chocolate sauce on it
"Don´t twist my words ´Sha" Kim sighed
Aisha placed the plate with a pile of hotcakes in front of Kim. On the top of it the word ´LIAR¨was written with chocolate sauce.
" ´Sha!" Kim cried out
Later that day at Tommy´s lab
"Remember that Ninjor talked about the special connection between Kimberly and Tommy?" Billy said
"Yes?" Haley, Tommy and Kim answered not sure of what Billy´s was aiming
"Well, what if Kim´s power can help him to demorph?" Billy sighed
"What are the risks?" Tommy asked
"Do you think it may work?" Kim asked
"I´m not sure about the risks but I think it could work" Billy answered
"Let´s do it!" Kim sighed
"No way, I´m not going to risk you" Tommy said
"But I want to take the risk, please Tommy if there is any chance we should try" Kim insisted
"Kim I don´t want you to do it, there got to be another way" Tommy spoke to Kim grabbing her shoulders
"Billy and Haley are going to watch over us so they can stop it whenever they consider it is risky" Kim told him
"Okay, but you have to promise me that as soon as you see the minimum risk you´ll will stop it" Tommy asked Billy
"Yes sure I will" Billy answered
"So let´s start" Kim sighed
Tommy stood in front of Kim, then they raised their arms joining palms together.
"Okay Kim I want you to focus your energy on Tommy" Billy told Kim
She closed her eyes and all the memories arrived like butterflies into both heads. The first day they talked to each other at school, when she found out he was
the evil green ranger and the day he finally joined the team.
The pink energy started to flow from Kim´s body towards Tommy´s.
She remembered how happy she felt when Tommy fixed her model for the parade and how sad they were when he lost his powers.
Tommy´s black suit started to vanished when they remembered how good it felt their very first kiss.
Another happy moment was spending Christmas together and when he became the white ranger and were fighting side by side again
The pink energy became brighter and wrapped the bodies
The memories continued flowing into their heads, the sadness of saying goodbye, how much he would have liked she had stayed.
The painful letter, the day they met again and the passionate kiss at the Cyberspace.
She opened her eyes and looked into Tommy´s eyes, he was completely demorphed. She smiled.
"It worked!" She sighed excited
"Really? But I still can feel the helmet" He said touching his head
"It´s because you have had it on for so long" Haley said
However, when Kim tried to kiss him she felt the hard and cold helmet instead of his lips.
"What´s going on?" Kim sighed frowning
"I look like as if I´m demorphed but I feel like I´m not" Tommy stated
Suddenly the human figure of Tommy vanished and the black dino power ranger appeared again.
"Kim you focused so much on him that made up a holographic image of Tommy, since that is your power, but it was never real" Billy explained
"We need to try again" Kim said
"No Kim" Tommy said
"I´m feel good, I mean it" Kim answered
Suddenly Kim collapsed into Tommy´s arms
"Kim, Kim!" Tommy sighed in desperation
At Reefside high
Kira walked through the high school aisle and met one of the girls from Ms Hart´s class
"Have you heard the rumors about principal Randal firing Ms Hart?" the girl asked
"What? That´s not possible, where did you hear it?" Kira asked her annoyed
"Cassidy published it at the Reefside High daily" She answered
"Don´t believe everything Cassidy says" Kira warned her "See ya later" the girl said and walked away
"Oh no" Kira huffed when she saw Cassidy and Devin turning round the corner of the aisle
Kira hurried to the ladies´
"What´s wrong with you Devin? We should have posted those videos on the web!" Cassidy yelled at him
"I don´t know what happened" Devin sighed
"I want you to find out what´s going on with Dr O, I want pictures, videos and everything you can get. Do you understand?" Cassidy glared at him
"Yes" He answered
"I don´t want to watch any other video on the web unless we are the ones that post it" Cassidy said
Kira realized that the ladies´ room looked very different. There was no roof, no walls and when she turned round there was no door neither. It was obvious
that she wasn´t at Reefside High anymore,she was not sure of being at Reefside either.
But what was this place? there were white sand until you were able to see, she started moving forward under the blue sky, however she wasn´t sure where
to aim to.
"Conner, Ethan, do you read me?" Kira spoke to her communicator. she heard nothing but silence
At Tommy´s house
"I´ve got an idea!" Kim sighed excited
"I can use my hologram power to make you look normal so we can go to the ball together!" Kim explained
"There is nothing I would like best than going to the ball with you, but I can´t show up at the school because I´m supposed to be in Angel Grove looking after
my mother remember?" Tommy explained
"Oh, yeah" Kim huffed
"I´ve got a better idea, why don´t we stay home and watch a movie?" Tommy suggested
"That sounds great!" Kim sighed
"And you can help me to make up something to tell our parents on Christmas night" Tommy stated
"Actually . . . I´ve already booked at a french restaurant for Christmas dinner with my mother mother and her husband" Kimberly informed him
"Oh, that´s great" Tommy said lack of excitement
"No it´s not, I was willing to spend Christmas with you" Kim sighed
"Yeah me too, but what else we can do?" Tommy asked
"I think my hologram power is the best option we have in this issue too" Kim said
"No way, you shouldn´t abuse of your powers Kim" He warned her and she rolled her eyes
"I´m fine Tommy, there is nothing wrong with my powers, Tommy said I need some rest that´s all, but I´m going to be okay for Christmas" She said
"I got to go right now, see you later" Kim said
Later at Mercer´s Mansion
Kim had just arrived and the maid told her Dr Mercer would be with her in a few minutes. As the minutes passed by and he didn´t show up Kim sat at the piano
and started playing. Five minutes later Dr Mercer walked downstairs, he didn´t say a word as not to make her stop.
"It´s a delightful performance Ms Hart" He sighed as soon as she stopped
"Good afternoon Dr Mercer and thank you" Kim sighed
"Please you can call me Anton" Dr Mercer said
"But I´m here to teach you not to entertain you" Kim cleared up.
"Okay, okay let´s start" He said and sat at her side.
At Reefside High
Trent and Ethan met Conner who was dressed up in his soccer uniform
"Hey bro, how are you doing?" Ethan sighed "I thought you´ve been kicked out from the team" Ethan said scowling
"Yeah, but I haven´t told my father yet" Conner answered "Listen guys I got to go to change I´ll see ya at the classroom" Conner said and walked away
Trent and Ethan hurried through the aisle to get on time for Chemistry
AT the locker room
Conner opened his locker, which was one of those large lockers almost as tall as himself, at the other side of it he could see a large sandy landscape
underneath a blue sky.
"What is it, Narnia?" Conner said scowling, suddenly he was sucked up by the locker.
At the Chemistry classroom
It had been a while since the class had started and neither Kira nor Conner showed up.
"Where are Kira and Conner?" Trent asked Ethan who shrugged, both of them were wearing goggles as they were manipulating chemical substances.
Ethan was trying to contact their friends meanwhile Trent mixed up several substances into a tube and then placed it over the fire. Suddenly a heavy smoke
started to collect along the ceiling and everybody left the classroom.
"What did you mix up?" Ethan asked Trent coughing
"I did exactly what it said in your notes" Trent answered as he waved his hands to disperse the smoke.
a wind started flowing and took the fumes away.
"Ethan we´re no longer in Reefside or that smoke really affected our brains" Trent sighed surveying the place
"What is this place?" Ethan asked taking off his goggles
"Conner do you read me?" Ethan contacted his friend
"Ethan, I´ve been trying to speak to you" Conner sighed
"You won´t believe where I am!" Ethan sighed
"Yes I do believe you" Conner answered approaching to him
"Conner!" Trent sighed
"I`m so glad to see you guys!" a familiar voice said from behind them
"Kira!" Trent sighed
"Have any of you idea of where we are?" Conner asked his friends who nodded no
"I was at school and I went into the ladies room when . . ." Kira explained
"Kira we don´t wanna know that part" Conner said and Kira glared at him
"I was hiding myself from Cassidy and Devin!" She cleared up "Anyway! suddenly the ladies room turned to a desert" Kira explained
"We were at Chemistry and Trent did a mistake with the substances he was mixing . . ." Ethan explained
"Hey I was following your notes!" Trent complained
"Anyway! the place was full of fumes and when the smoke cleared up we were here" Ethan said
"I was sucked up by my locker" Conner commented
"I think you need to stop watching Disney Channel" Kira teased him and he glared at her
"Dr O" Ethan said rising his communicator
"I´ve already tried to contact him but apparently it doesn´t work here" Kira informed
"So what are we gonna do?" Conner asked
"I suggest we start moving or we´ll end up sunk into the sand" Ethan said looking down
They all looked to their feet, which were all covered up by sand, so they started walking aimlessly
AT Mercer´s mansion
"Very good Dr Mercer!" Kim cheered him up as he played some notes
"Please call me Anton" He reminded her
"Yes, sorry I´m not used to" Kim said "Well, I think that´s enough for today" She added and stood up.
"Ms Hart, please wait" Mercer sighed
"Yes?" She said turning round
"Are you going to the Christmas Ball tonight?" Mercer asked
"No, I´m not" Kim answered
"What do you say if I ask you to be my date?" Mercer asked
"Well, I´m afraid that the answer is still no" Kim answered glancing down
"Oh, that hurts" Dr Mercer sighed placing his right hand on his chest
"I´m sorry Dr Mercer don´t take it too personal" Kim explained
"I always take everything very personal Ms Hart" He stated fixing his eyes on hers
Meanwhile Kira, Trent, Ethan and Conner walked over to an ancient building they found in the middle of the desert
IT was like a huge white impregnable fortress surrounded by bushes.
"What is this place?" Kira whispered, they walked along the perimeter but they found no way inside.
"Do you think we´ve died?" Conner asked
"There got to be a way to get into" Ethan sighed staring at the wall, which began to lift
They looked at each other, on the other side of the wall they could see an intense bright light that made them narrow their eyes.
At Mercer´s
"I´d better go" Kim said and when she was about to turn round to the door Dr Mercer grabbed her wrist tightly
"You´re not going anywhere" Dr Mercer stated
"Excuse me?" Kim asked looking at him scowling
"What´s the matter with you? Let me go! You´re hurting me!" Kim yelled at him
As soon as he released her Kim hurried to the door and pulled out the handle but it was locked. "Open it!" She demanded to the maid who was standing there
The maid did no answer and stood still "Would you please open the door?" She asked eagerly, but the maid stayed immutable
"She only receives orders from me" Dr Mercer commented
"Then tell her to open the door!" She demanded to Dr Mercer "I´d prefer you to stay" Dr Mercer answered
"Let me out!; this is illegal!" Kim yelled
Kimberly rushed back to the living room and tried to open one of the big windows that led to the park but she couldn´t find the handle so she took a wooden
chair and smashed it against the window glass. She tried several times but the glass didn´t crash.
"Take it easy Kimberly, all the windows glasses are reinforced, it is a security matter, don´t take it personal" Dr Mercer informed
"I guess I´m staying after all" Kimberly sighed,
she discreetly took out her morpher from her purse and walked slowly towards Dr Mercer
"So why don´t you take care of my stuff?" Kim said and threw her purse to Mercer. Then she rushed upstairs
Dr Mercer ran after her, Kimberly got into a room in the first floor, it was full of photos of herself everywhere. She got frozen as she stepped in.
Kimberly held her morpher in front of her and yelled "Dino thunder power up, ha!" she felt the pink energy wrapping her up but she started to feel weak. The
morphosis ceased. "Not now" Kim sighed and raised her morpher again "Dino thunder power up, Ha!" she yelled again, but she didn´t morph when she was
about to try for the third time her sight went out of focus and she collapsed on the floor.
