Still own nothing, but Faolchu Oisin and this plot

~Faolchu's POV~

A week had passed since Merida had started to wear my family crest. It was the night before she would have to hide in order for me to find her by sunset. Maudie had agreed to watch Oisin, but I had to figure out a way to get Merida to hide. I had noticed over the past week she was quieter and seemed to think more about what all this stuff meant. I was walking to the kitchen, and passed the library only to hear Merida and Elinor talking.

"Mum, why is Faolchu doing all these things?"

"Why do you think?"

"Mum, if I like her as more than a friend, would you be okay with that?"

"Merida she has been here for about two months now (If I did my math right) how do you feel about her?"

"I feel this pull, and she makes me happy, and feel safe, and all around ecstatic. How do I show her this?"

"You do what you need to for her to do what she needs to," Elinor spoke, moving towards the door I was standing at and looking in. She nodded to me, and gestured with her hand for me to join.

"But what is that?"

"I need you to hide before dawn in a place I would not look for you. I will then have to find you by sunset, if I cannot then I fail," I spoke moving into Merida's view, she turned bright red before looking down. "That pull you feel, I feel as well, but about ten times stronger. I am more in tune with my instincts and animal side and that is why. Now, for me to be able to be with you I have to complete the steps to the mating ritual. Two of eight are done. This is the next one, and I cannot tell you what they are."

"So you have been courting me?"

"The necklace was step one, family crest replaced the scent that wolves do, and this one is to show that I can come to you and find you should you need me."

"I am sorry that…"

"I knew that you did not feel it, at least not as I did. I am ready to take time, but this step must be preformed a week after the scent has started, or family crest."

I ducked my head, and did not look up till her feet were in my line of vision. "Anyway, I can make this easier?"

"If you do not want this, tell me at any time. Oisin is literally family to me by the actual pack law, and I can explain all this to him whenever you want him to know."

"You can tell him tonight, is he allowed to know the steps?"

"No, not till he shows if he would be dominant male in same sex, or interested in females. Only then may he know."

"So you would be dominant?" she asked before turning bright red.

"Yes, and no. I would be dominant in the way that is natural. Be that in all aspects, or only in those outside of diplomats and the bedroom. I am dominant because I am more like a male in the way I act. Thus I used to run with the male wolves and hunt with them, we often pulled off dangerous stunts and fought the battles more, because we felt that the women should not have to. Though my mother could beat my father in a fight if he did not call on the beast and nature at the same time."

"So, it depends on what is natural?"

"Yes, as a wolf-raised I do what is natural to my instincts."

"Okay, so I just need to leave at dawn?"

"And cover your tracks as best you can. This is not meant to be easy."

"Understood, I will go back to our rooms."

"I will go with you to get Oisin and explain to him what is going to be happening over the following weeks and months." I followed her back to our rooms, but stayed slightly behind her so that she did not feel any pressure. This only caused her to stop, turn around, grumble, grab my hand and continue on to our rooms.

When we got there I pulled Oisin back out into the hall as Merida got ready for bed. "Wah goin' on da?"

"So remember how I said that I could not tell you what the courtship entailed?" I asked as I kneeled down to his level.

"Yeah?"

"Well, I still can't but I can tell you that I am courting Merida…"

"Yes! I was right!" he interrupted, while jumping up and down causing me even more confusion.

"What?"

"Well you see, I saw 'ow you did anyfing for 'er. So I jus' kinda figured it out." (I know the mistakes are there for how Oisin speaks) He grinned at me.

"Its 'anything' and I guess this means that you are okay with this."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," he answered nodding his head vigorously.

"Then I guess we should go to bed, so that we can celebrate tomorrow. Though you will spend time with Maudie while your ma and I play a game okay?"

"What game?"

"A wolf one, where your ma hides before dawn and I have to find her before sunset, or I fail."

"Then you need to west now!" he shouted, pulling me into the room and getting ready for bed quickly and glaring at me when I wasn't doing the same.

I smiled and chuckled as I changed and got in bed. Merida curled into my side as Oisin climbed on my chest. Wrapping my arms around my family, I rested and wished by the moon that I could find Merida before sunset the next day.

I woke the next morning and had only Oisin for company. The curtains were open, and the rising sun was starting to hit my eyes. It was time; I carried Oisin to where Maude was watching the triplets. "Do you mind watching him today? I'll be back later with Merida but I don't know how long that will be."

"No problem, now go find your mate," she grinned.

I blushed and handed the sleeping child over before slipping outside. Taking a big whiff, I did something I had only done in secret for my stay here; I called even more on my wolf side. I felt my instincts come out even more, and my sense seemed to become sharper. I quickly found Merida's scent of pine trees and lilacs, though the pine trees part was hard to distinguish from all the other pine trees. I caught Angus's scent , but it went in a different direction. Very smart Merida, making it harder for me. I quickly took off following Merida's scent. It went very far and over lapped with Angus's. She must have had him loop around and then got on his back.

Continuing to follow after her, I came to a clearing at about midday. Her scent was stronger, but still fading. Stop for lunch here and took off to the right. Why are you going west? I quickly turned and knowing I was gaining on her and took off after her. I came to another clearing about two hours later and found her resting her feet in a river. Quieting my footsteps, I let go of some of wolf side and snuck up on her. When I got close, I grabbed her around her waist, and covered her mouth and lifted her against me.

She went to fight me, and I whispered in her ear, "Found you."

Letting her go, she spun around and smiled at me. "How close was this to the fastest another has been found?"

"Actually in my pack, this was the fastest. We are taught how to cover our scents, and you were not so that made it not as hard. Though the idea with Angus was genius."

"How do you cover your scent?"

"Take mud and cover yourself in it, or walk in water as the water always moves and takes your scent with it."

"Ah, time to go back?"

"If you want though since I am supposed to be the father to Oisin, and I have not spent much time with anyone other than Elinor, I would feel better the sooner we get back."

"Aw, you love him," she cooed, making me blush.

"Of course, he is my son," I answered without a doubt. For to me and any other wolves, he was my son.

She got on Angus, leaving space in front of her for me to climb on and be the one with the reigns. I quickly climbed on and we took off back towards the castle. We spent the rest of the day spending time with Oisin, as the next step involved Fergus and he wanted to wait and see if he understood what he had to do. That step was to take place after dinner.

Hi, sorry for the delay this was supposed to be up about a week and a half ago, but lo and behold I scratched my eye. If you scratch your eye make sure you are careful and use the antibiotic eye drops. My doctor never faxed the prescription or called it in, so I never got them. This caused it to get infected and now I have an ulcer on my right eye. They should be coming out more often now. Again leave any comments.
