Chapter 13: Heavenly Meeting

Hope

The two girls were getting ready for a New Year's Eve party. Hope wore a purple cocktail dress. Faith wore a red one, or would wear a red one if she could get the zipper up. Hope struggled to get her friend's zipper up but it refused.

"Maybe this is a sign I shouldn't go," Faith grumbled in annoyance. Hope felt bad. Faith was only going for her. Whereas Hop had her boyfriend going, Faith was going solo. She hadn't heard a peep from Michael since their fight.

"Let me try," a voice offered. The girls turned around to find Gabriel looking sharp in a dark grey suit. "I have the magic touch."

"Yes you do," Hope giggled. Faith made a face that clearly said "TMI."

"Keep it for the bedroom you two," she said with a smirk. Gabriel gave her an impish grin as he attempted to get her dress completely zipped up. Even he had trouble but somehow, he got it to close.

"Thank you," Faith said sweetly, going over to her dresser to put on jewelry. "So how's everything with the war?"

"We're about ready to make an attack. We just need the Winchesters on board. Problem is they don't like us or our enemy. But we need them. They've defeated Raphael and Uriel before. I'm sure they could do it again."

"When do we get to fight, Gabriel? I'm tired of sitting around and waiting," Hope complained. Faith seconded this sentiment.

"Your time is coming. It's just Michael and I don't want to throw the two of you in too soon. This is dangerous. Suicidal for humans unless you're the bloody invincible Winchesters. But don't worry about it for now." Gabriel's expression then changed to one of hesitation. "So, um, Faith, I talked to Michael."

Hope saw her friend tense slightly. It'd been a month since Faith had actually seen and spoken to Michael. He hadn't been to the house since their fight. It was a tense subject to be brought up anymore. Faith acted like she didn't care, but if anyone came into the store and they looked like Michael, she had Hope help them out. Faith never mentioned his name. If she had to refer to Gabriel and Michael, she said y'all. Never did she refer to Michael as a separate person, even though he was the top leader on their side.

"Not surprising since you two work together," Faith remarked, putting on an earring.

"Faith, don't be like that," Hope chastised.

"What? They do," she pointed out.

"You and I both know he's not talking about the war."

"I told Gabriel he could find out, but I told him I didn't care what excuse it was he found out." Faith froze. "What's he doing downstairs?"

"How did you-" Gabriel began.

"I just do. Now you have five seconds to explain before I go and kick him out," she growled. Hope backed away.

"I'm going to let you two talk this out. I'm going to go… somewhere other than here," Hope said, trying to get out of the room as fast as she could. The last things she saw was a murderous glare from Faith and Gabriel giving her a silent plea to not leave him alone because he obviously believed Faith could and would hurt him. Hope gave him an encouraging smile and left. She went downstairs to see Michael. He sat, or more like slumped, on the couch. Even though she could only see the back of his head, Hope could tell he was absolutely miserable.

"She hates me, doesn't she?"

"God, you're as bad as each other. Faith won't say your name and you won't say hers." Hope sighed and softened her tone. "I think she's acting like she does so she can try and convince herself that she does, if that makes sense. But honestly, she's still totally in love with you and hates that she is. Particularly after the way you left her. By the way, I've been meaning to ask you, why the hell did you do that?"

"Gabriel didn't tell you?" Michael inquired.

"No. He hasn't breathed a word to me about it."

"I'm surprised. He trusts you so much."

"Maybe he thought Faith told me. Oh, by the way, she knows you're down here."

"How?" Michael sounded worried.

"I don't know. Gabriel is talking to her."

"What?!"

"Michael, look at me. What are you so worried about and why won't you look at me?"

She saw his jaw clenching and unclenching. He turned around though. Hope gasped. Gashes were in his face, neck, and chest. Bruises covered the areas that weren't damaged. Injuries like those could kill a normal man. Thank god Michael was an angel.

"Michael, what the hell happened?" Hope demanded.

He grimaced. "Angels. Gabriel had to come rescue my ass. They ambushed me."

"What were you doing walking around by yourself in the first place?"

"Watching."

"Watching?"

"I was watching out for Faith," he whispered. "They were going after her. She was alone. You and Gabriel were at the store or something. They were going to get her. I had to stop them."

"Does she know about this?"

"Not at all."

"Michael you have to tell her!"

"No! I'm not supposed to even be near her!"

"Why not?" Hope asked calmly.

"I can't tell you, not-"

"Why the hell didn't you tell me?" Faith growled, coming from the stairs. Gabriel came running behind her, looking panicked. "Why did you leave like that and not tell me?"

Michael had backed himself up to a wall. "Gabriel, I can't leave. Something's anchoring me."

"I'm not doing it, I swear," Gabriel said.

"Like hell you're leaving without explaining yourself. Hope, Gabriel, go to the party. I'll meet you there," Faith ordered.

"I think she's doing it," Michael said.

"How? She's not-"

"I don't know."

"GO!" Faith commanded, glowering at Hope and Gabriel. The two of them understood they had no other choice. They gave Michael an apologetic look before leaving him to the mercy of a very pissed off blonde.

Faith

She trembled with a fury Faith didn't know she possessed. Michael refused to look at her, instead staring at the floor. She wanted to strike him so badly for what he did. But she wouldn't. His face gave the impression he'd gone through a wood chipper or something.

"What do you need to heal?" Faith inquired, keeping her tone calm and unemotional.

"Wh-what?" He stammered.

"There's a war coming. You need to be ready for it, and being injured the way you are, you're obviously not ready. What do you need to heal?"

"I need to touch a soul," he replied.

"Touch mine," Faith said.

"No!" he exclaimed quickly. "No. I don't want to risk you. It's a tedious procedure. I could kill you."

"But you won't because it's me. Now come on, you're sitting down when you do it and so am I." Faith grabbed his hand, leading him to her couch. She felt her pulse jump to an abnormal rate, hoping he couldn't feel it. They sat down on the couch and stared at each other awkwardly.

"Well what are you waiting for?" Faith prodded.

"I won't do it to you. It's not like you even care about me anymore. I deserve it too after what I did."

"A person can care about someone and still be pissed at the same time. But Michael, there is a war to be fought. You need to be ready if there's an attack. I'm strong. I can do this and so can you."

Michael grimaced. "Hold onto my shoulders to support yourself because this will hurt."

She did as he recommended. Steeling herself, she said, "Go."
