Giselle sat with Tara in the hospital cafeteria. They'd got done running tests and they were waiting for the results. Giselle stared into her hot chocolate. It was eighty degrees outside and she was craving hot cocoa. "Tara. . I need to talk to you and it needs to stay between you and I." She looked at Tara,"Nice haircut, by the way." Tara had cut her hair short and shaggy. And in Giselle's opinion, it was awful.
"Oh shut up," Tara frowned,"One of my patients got a ridiculous wad of gum in it. It was chop it off or burn it off."
"At least you know it's awful."
"It's not terrible. It's not as hot now that it's short, easier to manage." She looked at Giselle,"But I doubt you wanted to talk about my new hair do. What's the problem, Giselle?"
". . I ran into D.A. Patterson." Giselle looked down,"She said some things that I just can't get out of my head and only you would understand."
"What'd she say?"
"She brought up Opie's death, Jax getting stabbed in prison, Chibs's car bomb incident. . . And it made me think of Abel being snatched, David being murdered, everything bad that could hurt my kids that Jax and the club couldn't stop." She looked at her engagement ring,"It made me so scared. . . My children are innocent and I don't want them hurt or taken or. . Or. . I love them more than anything. More than my own life. . ."
"You're wondering if you should go through with the wedding and marrying Jax and risk your childrens' lives or break it off and take your kids somewhere that Jax won't find you." Tara said.
"How'd you know?"
"Because I had the same thoughts when I was with Jax. But Jax and I weren't meant to be. And you two are." Tara sipped her coffee,"Giselle, I can't tell you what to do because I have no children with Jax and I never let myself get to the point of marriage with him. I decided to run from Jax's life because I was afraid for me. Because I couldn't let myself feel what you do for Jax and running was easier to do than to face facts that love hurts sometimes and Jax and his lifestyle were dangerous to me. But you're not me. You're stronger. You grew up in this life and you love it. Things have changed because you have children yes. But that just means you need to do what you think is best for your family. I hate to say this, but you need to take a page from Gemma's book. Do what you need to in order to keep your family safe."
"But Gemma would just shoot the problem."
"Well, I don't think you should do that. But take a look at your life. Think good and hard about what is best for your kids in the long run. Don't do anything violent or anything. Maybe you should even talk to Jax. He's a nut, but he's a nut that would do anything for you and your kids. Even give you up if it meant keeping you safe and healthy."
"I don't want Jax to think I don't want to marry him. . . Or that I don't love and trust him with everything that I am.. . Because I do. Now that we've come this far, I can't imagine spending my life with anyone but Jax. I can't fathom anyone else fathering my children. . And Jax is the only person I've ever felt absolute joy and safety with." Giselle stirred her drink.
"Well," Tara put her coffee down,"It sounds to me like you've already made your decision, Giselle."
"My heart says stay but my brain says run as fast as you can. ."
"Sometimes your brain is right, sometimes your heart is." She took Giselle's hand,"Look, you love Jax. Don't let Patterson get to you. Honestly? She's trying to do exactly what Stahl did. Get in the head of the one woman that could bring Jax down. And remember how awesome everything went with Stahl?"
Giselle nodded,"You're right, Tara. I'm gonna think on it a bit. . But I already know my answer." She stood,"Call me with the results?" Tara nodded.
Giselle left St. Thomas and went to the police station and noticed that Patterson was in Roosevelt's office. She opened the door and went in,"Forgive my intrusion, Chief. I only need a second." She walked up to Patterson,"Listen here, D.A. Patterson. I love my husband. And I love my children. And you're very right, my kids probably are in danger. But you know what? The world is a dangerous place. At least here they have the club and Jax and me to protect them. Your concern isn't for my family. It's for your reputation because you can't pin anything on my man. So, I'm going to give you one warning: Stay away from me, my family, and my club. Because I have no criminal past, I pay taxes, I'm an upstanding citizen, and if you harass the people I love or myself one more time, I will sue you, drag your reputation through the mud, and ruin your career. And if you think I'm incapable of that, I beg you to test me because I am DYING to take some revenge on you people for hurting people I love."
Giselle stormed out and went home. She smiled, seeing Jax playing with Fy and Abel. They were wretling with each other. Jax laid on the floor,"Oh no! You two got me!"
Abel and Fy crawled onto him and high fived in victory.
Giselle walked over and picked up her kids,"Hey you guys. Take it easy on your old man." She sat by them.
Jax sat up and kissed her,"Thanks, babe. . How'd it go at the hospital?"
"Tara will call me with the results." She kissed him back. "I love you, Jax."
"I love you, too," He smiled.
"Also, if you get a call from Roosevelt. . It's nothing serious."
"What?" Jax blinked.
