Nathaniel Evergold, Head Gamemaker, Control Room

There were some finishing touches that Nathaniel still had to do to the arena but he knew he can do that whilst the tributes were in the arena so he wasn't that worried. Well he was a bit worried. His assistant, Clio Abbot, is beside him as they walked toward the main control center for the arena. He glanced at his watch and guessed that it must've been that time already. The time where the tributes changed into what would be their arena outfit.

"We are still on track with the other additions?" The Head Gamemaker asked his assistant.

"Yes, excepting the traps." She looked at the clipboard that never leaves her side. "They should be ready by the third day, that is if the tributes last that long."

The slight jab at what could be a flop of a Games had Nathaniel nervous for a moment. He had high expectations, not only from the Capitol but from the president himself. With the success of last year's Games, he wanted to give a twist to the upcoming bloodbath that would surely not be a hit but in the long run would make the rest of the Games entertaining.

"Yes, well, that shouldn't be a problem then." He manages to say as he fixes his tie before putting on the golden robes of the Head Gamemaker. "Shall we begin?"

"The last tribute is ready, raising the platform in three…two…"

Nathaniel had his eyes glued to the giant screen in front of him as the Cornucopia comes into view. The glistening midday sun bounces off the water from the fountain that would act as the holder of weapons and supplies for the tributes. It was a simple fountain, round base to hold water that is drinkable; the middle consists of a two-tier spout with a flat base. Atop the base is a small angelic girl, downtrodden with her left hand across her face as if she had been crying whilst the other is holding a long scythe twice the size of the girl.

"The tributes are prepared starting five-minute countdown." Clio announced as she nods to one of the interning Gamemakers.

Nathaniel scanned each of his tributes once more; each one of them has a chance of winning, some have better chances than others but nevertheless they have a chance. He saw the four-minute mark and watched the as the tributes either focused on the statue on top of the fountain or their surroundings. He knew what was going to happen after this first day but they didn't so he hoped that at least some of them memorise the surroundings.

The north of the Cornucopia, the back of the little girl, stood a hotel. A hotel that had seen better days from the outside, it almost looked haunted, vines growing on the side of wooden panels. Windows tainted dark with either dust or moss or some form of grime. There's several chimneys atop the roof that is missing some shingles. The overall colour scheme resembled a faded cream colour but it was hard to tell from the vines. Stone steps lead their way towards its entrance with surprisingly green hedge at either side act as bannisters.

The left of the girl is where an abandoned church lay, barely visible from the Cornucopia. Dark in colour and mostly made of stone, this church looked more modern and well put together than the hotel itself. There are a few surprises in store there, should the tributes decide to enter it. Surrounding the church is a dense forest of oak and pine as well as a graveyard immediately to its right. A rusted and bent metallic fence also surround the outside perimeter of the church that seemed to have blocked the advancement of the trees.

The south of the girl is a hedge maze. It was nothing fancy, just a medium sized one. Far smaller than the one on the presidential gardens. It was put in there to attract tributes to what prizes that can be pilfered from the centre. Nathaniel was sceptical at first about the idea but Ouran and Calli the main heads for arena construction had convinced their boss that it would be good.

To the right of the girl was called the dead woods. It contrasted heavily to the other two which were surrounded by healthy trees in a sense that these trees are dead and no longer living. The dead woods offered no hiding places for the sneaky tributes that preferred to hide. Far inside the woods is a natural lake, crystal clear as the waters in the fountains and drinkable. It offers respite for any tributes that have managed to stumble towards it.

"Two minutes till the Game begins, Nathan." Clio managed to shook the dark brown haired man from his thoughts.

He only nodded at what his assistant had said. He hovered a finger over a button on his computer screen awaiting till the last ten seconds have begun to drop what would be the first twists of the Games.

He saw from the screens how anxious some of them are. Their platforms looked out of place from the rest of the arena as crows have begun to fly around in circles above the Cornucopia. Behind each platform is a tombstone; each one had their full names and their district written on it. It was a nice touch from himself, one that would go unappreciated he was sure but it made him feel good.

The one-minute mark has begun and the sixty second hologram appears on all four sides of the fountain. The Careers began to ready themselves to bolt when the timer reached zero. The leader of the pack seemed to be the Ones this year; both Amber and Castor have scored impressively, Amber scored higher with a ten whilst Castor scored a Nine. Moving clockwise from Amber, Ash Orrender of Seven stand anxiously with a score of seven under his belt and a lukewarm approach to the interviews, the boy had managed to garner a bit of sponsors.

He is followed by Isla of Ten and then by Ava of Two. Both impressive but a Career is a Career, Ava's score was also a nine but Isla's a seven just a score lower than her district partner, Petros. District Five's Serafina stands next in the line-up. She looked nervous as she scanned for her allies, she felt a lot more comfortable during training. Beside her is Castor who dazzled the crowd during the interviews with his sensibility but he doesn't let on too much and unlike Falko who was next on the line up who had the audience entranced by his charisma. Nathaniel believed that Six could have a potential victor, and he believed that for Eight and Twelve also. Holly Nimbus of Twelve was next with a score of eight, a better score from her district in a long time, her potential and score have garnered her with a lot of sponsors which is why Nathaniel believed that she can win.

"Forty seconds." Clio announced beside Nathaniel.

Isaac from Nine was aloof throughout the whole time in his Capitol appearance that Nathaniel couldn't decide if he was being purposefully dumb or he was actually just like that. Beside him is Lysander of Twelve. From what Nathaniel could tell from him, it was that he liked to be the person in charge, he lives just to spite other people but he's smart about it. Next is another clear-cut winner, apart from the Careers, Faith Knight of Eleven had declared that she was going to be going solo in the arena but Nathaniel had spotted the boy from Nine looking at her as if they belonged in an alliance. Next is Matrix, he scored the lowest this year with a three, he didn't talk much during his interview either. Tempest beside him, however, was as competitive as her leader, Amber, is. They have butted heads once or twice already and she called her out on it during the interviews as well. With her score of seven, Estella from Eight is ready to face the arena. Her allies as she had said from the interviews were Kolby and Serafina from Five and that she wouldn't have it any other way, her beauty and grace got her most of her sponsors. Juniper Silverwood from Seven is spunky and somewhat bubbly once her exterior shyness had been broken and Nathaniel had hoped that she survives long enough for her to show her real self.

"Thirty seconds."

Nathaniel was surprised that Pip of Eleven had allied himself with the boys from Twelve and Eight. He had thought that the little boy didn't really fit with the other two but only time will tell if he actually does. Fuse was a wildcard; calm and collected, she played mind games with most of the outlier tributes during training and then she did the same for her individual sessions too. Her interview was cut short once she managed to even creep out the host. Skyrus was definitely the runt of the Career pack this year, he didn't volunteer to be in the Games but was instead reaped but that didn't stop last year's reaped tribute from Four coming in third. Petros stood on his platform with a stoic expression as if he was giving instructions to Isla, who also looked at him. The same can be said for the last of the Career pack member, Travis. He had a calm disposition about him and he was definitely the quietest of them all, along with his district partner. Kolby Dwight from Five looked at the weapons and supplies strewn about on the green grass of the Cornucopia, he was ready to jump into the bloodbath.

"Twenty."

Pan Silversmith of Eight also looked ready, he wore that trademark smirk better than any tribute that Nathaniel had ever saw. He was a natural born leader, how he managed to unite the contrasting personality of Pip and Lysander. Gigas Amlys was definitely the favourite of the interviews for Nathaniel, she made him laugh several times at her sassy replies. If Gamemakers were allowed to sponsor tributes then he would have been sponsored Gigas a while ago, too bad the rest of the Gamemakers didn't have the same thought process as him. Last but not least was Laila Rudder of Six who had told Cyril Valentine during the interviews that she planned on grabbing a weapon and then leaving before the Cornucopia bloodbath can begin.

"Fifteen…fourteen…thirteen…"

The button that Nathaniel pressed during the ten-second mark was going to change the way the pace of the bloodbath and set the tone for the rest of the arena. He was almost certain that it was needed to drum up possible excitement for the Capitol. The tributes definitely could possible not have predicted this.

It is a necessary evil after all.

First of all, Hello! I am not dead. I just simply got a massive writer's block. It was really worse and I don't even think this chapter is good enough either. I remember I used to be able to churn up 5k worded chapters and now I'm lucky if I'm able to manage 2k at best.

I do plan to finish this, in fact I have planned this story already (That's right folks, I have picked a winner and it was a close pick between 5 tributes). The only thing is that I will skip over some chapters: Training day 3 and Private sessions as well as showing Scores and Interviews will be cut and instead will just be the Games. I may put these side chapters out periodically though just for when I feel lazy actually writing the tributes or if my writer's block get's worse.

Second of all, is there anyone actually still reading these? Not that it matters because I am only doing this for myself at this point. After this is finished I plan on doing my own Victor's Stories type thing much like Victor's Project by Oisin55 or 500 Years of Penance by tracelynn. I love creating characters and being able to create Victors around my universe would be great. In fact I have the plot for first four Victors already. Who knows at what point I would stop it at, it's definitely no going to be 500, that's too much. .
