So, I know some of you wanted to see Sydney and Derek's first kiss, which I briefly mentioned in the first chapter. Well, you got your wish! Also, I heard that Isaac is leaving the show next season which totally screws up my plans, but I do have a back up! Anyways, I've blabbed for long enough, ENJOY THE CHAPTER!

I sighed as I looked at the text Derek sent me. He knew we weren't supposed to talk to each other, and yet he was requesting my presence immediately. Quickly, I sent a text back. 'I can't get out of the house, Dad's being extremely overprotective.' After I didn't receive a reply, I assumed we would just talk tomorrow. I was getting tired anyway. I was about to take off my training clothes when I heard a tap on my window.

Squinting, I realized that someone was at my window. I stealthily grabbed one of my knives from my side table next to my bed and tip toed toward the window. I carefully opened the window and jumped as a voice spoke, "Don't scream, it's just me." My eyes widen and I grabbed the new comer and pulled them into my room.

"What the hell? Are you crazy? You can't be here, Derek. My dad is going crazy since the attack at the school, and my aunt is down the hall. I don't want you to-" I got cut off as Derek put his hand over my mouth. I glared at him, he really knew how to push my buttons. The werewolf raised an eyebrow and shushed me. "Stay quiet, we don't want your hunter parents to come and kill me, now do we?"

I rolled my eyes at him, but they softened as I took his hand away from my mouth. I kept hold of it and squeezed lightly on it, "You shouldn't be here; it's too dangerous." Derek simply stared right into my eyes before replying, "Everything's dangerous for us these days." Then, as I was about to retort, he smashed my lips into his.

I stiffened for a moment in surprise before I started to kiss him back. This was actually happening, I was kissing Derek Hale. Bad boy/werewolf. My heart fluttered in my chest as our lips moved together, but Derek pulled away suddenly. "Someone's coming." I gave him a pleading look, and he quickly kissed my forehead before jumping out the window.

My bedroom door then opened, revealing Allison in the doorway. "Hey, Syd...earth to Sydney?"

Allison repeatedly snapped her fingers in front of my face, bringing me out of my memory. "What?" I asked her, and she smiled, "You were completely out of it for a moment there. I was just gonna ask if you wanted to go get something to eat." I nodded at my sister as we walked the streets of France together. We were on a pre-school shopping spree.

"I can't believe we're going back in 2 weeks. Have you told Lydia yet?" I questioned my twin, who had just gotten her hair cut. Allison nodded and spoke, "Yeah, she's excited to see us both in person and catch up before school starts."

It was silent for a moment, the two of us lugging our bags around. Allison broke the ice, "So, have you talked to anyone back home since we left?" I knew she really wanted to know if I had talked to either Isaac or Derek, and I admitted, "Not really, only Lydia and Stiles. Well, I talk to Stiles every night and Lydia once a week. But other than that, no. How about you?"

Allison sighed, knowing that I wanted information about Scott. "Only Lydia. And no, I haven't talked to him. He's respecting my space, like Derek is doing for you. Even though you know I don't approve." I warned her to not go any further with her comment, and she shrugged and replied, "I'm just saying that he and his family have killed our family members. And, I know that you didn't agree to the pact Dad and I made about not getting involved, but you should. Getting in the middle of werewolf business will get you killed. It's the Argent curse."

I raised an eyebrow at my sister, and she added, "Anyways, I'm pretty sure Lydia will be wrangling up dates for us when we get back." I chuckled at that and mumbled, "Let her try."

2 weeks later

Stiles flipped through the book of tattoos and stopped at one, "Hey Scott, you sure you don't want something like this?" He joked to his best friend, who frowned at the picture of a giant lizard. "Too soon?" The boy went on and spoke, "I don't know man, are you sure about this? I mean they're pretty permanent."

Scott just shrugged it off and told his friend that he already made up his mind. Suddenly, Stiles' phone started to ring. The boy quickly got out his phone and smiled at the text he received. He swiftly replied to the person, Scott looking on in confusion. Stiles put his phone back into his pocket and acted like nothing happened, "But why two bands? I mean your first tattoo should mean something."

"Getting a tattoo means something." Scott deftly shot back, and the tattoo artist agreed with him. Getting a tattoo was like a right of passage. Scott smiled and said, "See? He gets it." Stiles squinted at his friend, not really sure he was grasping his point, "He is covered in tattoos, literally."

The werewolf then brought up, "Who are you texting? You literally never text anyone, ever." Stiles opened his mouth to retort, but he had to admit his friend had a point. The human shrugged and responded, "I was texting Sydney. She says hi, by the way. I wasn't going to say anything, but-" "But you thought it would bring up some feelings about Allison. Look, I'm okay. Tell her I said I miss her." Scott finished his friend's sentence.

The tattoo artist then started to work after Scott gave him his cue. Stiles stared at the needle and got a little squeamish. The boy then fainted, hitting his head on the floor.

Afterwards, the boys got into Stiles' blue jeep. Stiles held his ice pack to his head while Scott cringed due to his pain. When Stiles asked if the werewolf was okay, Scott admitted, "It kind of burns." The teen raised an eyebrow at that and snarked back, "Yeah you just had your skin stabbed about 100,000 times. By a needle." The tanner boy argued that he didn't think it should hurt this much.

Scott then took the bandage off and stared at the tattoo in horror, it was fading. "It healed." Scott sadly stated, and Stiles sighed, "Thank god, I hated it." The boys then drove away.

"It is not a triple date, it is a group thing." Lydia argued to one of her best friends. Allison sat in the passenger seat of Lydia's car and asked, "Do they know it's a group thing? And does Sydney even know about this at all? Because I told you, I'm not ready to get back out there." The red head huffed and questioned, "You were in France with your twin sister and neither of you did any dating for four months?"

Allison shook her head in reply and added, "Did you? I mean since-" Lydia cut the brunette off and snapped, "Don't say his name." Allison asked her best friend if Jackson was okay, and the girl responded, "The doctors looked like idiots when he turned up alive, but everyone got over it. And yes, Sydney's former beau, Derek, taught him the werewolf 101. Like how not to kill someone on a full moon."

"So you've talked to him?" Allison inquired, and Lydia halted before speaking, "Uh, not since he left for London." The brunette pointed out that Jackson's dad moved him to London, wanting his son to get out of Beacon Hills. The former hunter broke Lydia's silence and asked, "So you're totally over him?" The red head then snapped, "Would I be going on a triple date if I wasn't?"

The girl chuckled a bit in response, and Lydia sighed, "Yes, it is a triple date. It's not an orgy, you two will live." The two came up to a red light, oblivious to the car coming up next to them. "I agreed to give her the summer: no texts, no calls." Scott explained to his best friend.

Stiles knew the Argents were coming back soon, but Sydney wouldn't tell him when. She said she wanted to surprise him. "How do you know she won't be back in school then?" He questioned, and Scott didn't know. Stiles then noticed Allison in the car next to them, with Lydia. His eyes widened, and he stuttered, "I think she is, I'd say pretty definite, you know. Like 100 percent."

Scott gave his friend a questioning look and asked, "Why did Sydney say anything to you?" Stiles then pointed to the car to their right, and Scott's jaw dropped. It got really awkward when Allison noticed him. Allison tried to hide her face, and Stiles was trying to say hi. Lydia then sped away from them, running through the red light. Allison exhaled in relief as they got away, she could not face him at the moment. She didn't even know what to say.

But, she made up her mind and told Lydia to stop the car. She needed to talk to him, explain. Allison then noticed that the boys stopped too. Lydia then stated, "It's Stiles and Scott. Without Sydney they're a mess." The girls screamed as a deer crashed through Lydia's windshield. The four teens scrambled out of their cars, but Stiles ran towards it. "Is Sydney in there? Is she hurt?"

Lydia shook her head and assured him, "She's jet lagged, so she decided to stay home." Stiles was extremely relieved. Allison and Scott made sure the other was okay, and Lydia snaped, "Well, I'm not okay! I am totally freaking out, how the hell does that just run into us?" Scott attempted to check the scene out while Lydia continued, "I saw it's eyes right before it hit us;it was like it-it was like it was crazy."

Scott, however, disagreed. "It was scared, actually, terrified."

The next morning, Chris Argent walked into Sydney's bedroom. It was littered with boxes, and Sydney sat still on the bed as she stared into nothing. "You ready?" He asked her, and she nodded numbly. Her father walked further into her room and tried to put a smile on his daughter's face, "You know, you could wait until tomorrow if you want. I know the first day can be tough."

Sydney shook her head and replied, "No, I'm alright." Chris could see right through the lie and smiled, "You know you could wait a week if that would make things easier." Sydney cracked a smile smile at that and replied, "I wish, but I told Lydia I would take her since her car's wrecked. And I promised Allison that I would be there with her today, so."

Mr. Argent nodded at his daughter and held out his hand, and she took it. Sydney then hugged her dad before she left for school with her twin.

Lydia stared at all the boys from her spot next to Allison and Sydney's lockers. "Freshmen. Tons and tons of fresh men." Sydney smiled at her friend and pointed out, "You mean fresh boys. Lydia, they're like 14 and haven't hit puberty yet." The red head shrugged it off and Allison commented, "You know, it's good to be single. Focus on yourself for a while, work on becoming a better person."

The other two girls gave each other a look and Sydney spoke, "Allison, we love you." Lydia then finished her best friend's sentence, "So if we do that thing where we talk about me and pretend that we're not actually talking about you, it's totally fine. But, I don't want a boyfriend; I want a distraction." Sydney whole heartedly agreed with her. "I'm with you, Lyd."

Lydia gave Sydney a disbelieving look and argued, "Syd, I would kill to have your love life. Literally. You have multiple men vying for your attention and one of them said he would wait for you forever." The girl in question shook her head and stated, "I can't talk about him." Lydia challenged, "Can't or won't?" The red head caught the look she was receiving from both Argents, and she shrugged.

"Anyways, speaking of distractions. Sydney, what is up with you and Stiles?" Now that Lydia mentioned it, Allison was wondering the same thing. "What are you talking about?" Sydney denied, and Lydia raised her eyebrow at the girl. "I am talking about how he kept asking where you were, what you were doing, and if you were okay after the accident the other night. It's like you were the only thing on his mind."

Sydney rolled her eyes at her friend and Allison added, "They have talked to each other every day for the past 4 months." Lydia had a calculative look in her eyes, and she eventually smiled, "I am really liking this pairing. He's not a psychotic werewolf and he didn't kill you mom or ruin your life." Having enough of the conversation, Sydney told, "We should get to class."

Allison and Lydia looked at each other, an understanding between the two of them came about. Mission Stiles was a go. But, they were all snapped out of their thoughts as two teens with leather jackets walked through the doors. "Brothers?" Allison asked, but Lydia corrected her, "Twins." There was Lydia's distraction.

Sydney, Allison, and Lydia all walked into class together, chatting about the new twins. Sydney immediately spotted a seat next to Stiles, for she asked him to save her one. Stiles immediately brightened as he saw the huntress walk in. He talked to her every day, but seeing her was a whole other thing. Lydia took the seat in front of Stiles, leaving one empty seat for Allison. Right in front of Scott.

When Stiles awkwardly gave Scott a thumbs up, Sydney laughed. Oh, how she missed their funny antics. Stiles then turned to her and waved, and Sydney leaned over and stated, "You grew out your hair. I like it." Stiles blushed while the girl laughed at him. Lydia watched the two like a hawk until everyone's phones went off. Sydney checked her phone and was confused at the message.

"'The offing was barred by a black bank of clouds and the tranquil waterway, leading to the uttermost ends of the earth floats somber under an overcast sky, seemed to lead into the heart of an immense darkness.' This is the last line of the first book we are going to read. It will also be the last text you will receive in this class. Phones off everyone." The teacher, Ms. Blake, spoke. Immediately, Sydney knew she was going to enjoy this class.

The kids were all taking notes when Scott got dismissed. Sydney sent a questioning glance towards Stiles, who shrugged in response. Neither of them had any idea what was going on. Stiles then noticed something on Lydia's ankle, a bandage. Stiles called her out on it, keeping his voice low. Lydia told him that her dog bit her, "Has it ever bitten you before?" Lydia shook her head in response, which only fueled Stiles more.

"What if it's like the same thing with the deer? You know how animals start to act weird before an earthquake or something?" Stiles went on, and Lydia got frustrated with the hyperactive teen, "Meaning what, there's gonna be an earthquake?" Sydney turned her full attention to her friends' conversation, and she heard Stiles admit that maybe something bad was coming.

"Maybe it's like the thing you say about threes: once, twice-" The huntress got cut off as a bird slammed into the glass window next to her. Blood stained the window, and Sydney and the entire class stared at it curiously. Ms. Blake walked towards the window and widened her eyes as she saw crows flying to them. Suddenly, birds started to smash into the window, some even breaking the glass.

The teacher yelled for everyone to get down, and Lydia tumbled to the ground next to Allison while Sydney ducked. Stiles stumbled over to the huntress on the ground and shielded her from the chaos. After a moment, the cawing of the crows stopped as they all lay on the ground, dead. Stiles helped Sydney up, and the two stared at the scene with shock.

The police were called, and they showed up relatively quickly. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. Mr. Argent stormed in to check on his daughters. He looked at his eldest and said, "Next time you have a feeling that you want to stay home, stay home." Sydney argued with him, "I'm okay. But, dad, the deer, Lydia's dog, and now this? It can't be a coincidence." Somehow, the Sheriff heard the Argents talking and came over.

Apparently, Stiles had let it slip that Chris was a hunter, and he had assumed that meant wild animals. Argent just replied, "Well, not anymore." He looked at Allison, who promised not to get involved. Stiles glared at his dad, and Sydney got up from her spot on the desk and made her way to Stiles. "We should call Scott. This definitely isn't a coincidence, Stiles. Something's wrong."

The boy nodded at her and pulled her into the hallway where he called Scott. "We've got a serious problem at the school. In Ms. Blake's class-" Stiles was cut off by Scott, and he continued, "No, I'm pretty sure this qualifies for immediate discussion...Derek's house? What the hell are you doing there?" Sydney gave the teen a look as Stiles hung up and asked, "What is he doing with Derek?"

Stiles shrugged and sighed, "Hey, you don't have to come if you don't want to. I know you're still kind of on the fence about him, which is totally understandable. I mean, yeah he killed your mom-" Sydney cut the boy off and snapped, "I get it, Stiles. I was going to have to see him sooner or later, and it's time the three of us got back into business together."

"If you're sure." The boy said, grabbing his keys from his backpack. "I am." She replied stubbornly, and she quickly texted her dad to tell him she was leaving.

Stiles and Sydney drove up to the Hale house, and Sydney sighed before getting out of the car. She climbed up the steps of the abandoned, creepy house and remembered seeing her aunt killed there. She snapped out of her thoughts as Stiles placed a hand on her shoulder, knowing what she was thinking. Sydney nodded at him, silently telling him she was okay.

The two humans heard the werewolves talking about Scott's failed attempt at getting a tattoo, and Stiles interrupted their conversation. "Hey, sorry to interrupt, but I have a present for you." Scott gave him a confused look, but when Sydney emerged, a smile grew on his face. He immediately went in to hug her, and he spoke, "Hey! I haven't seen you in forever. Sorry I didn't say hi to you this morning, but-"

Sydney cut him off as she ended, "But you were too busy drooling over Allison. trust me, I get it." Scott gave her a sheepish grin, and Sydney laughed a bit. Her smile faltered, however, when she caught sight of Derek standing in front of her. "Hi." She greeted softly, and he repeated it back. A silence developed as the two simply stared at each other, and Stiles was the first to break it. "So what are we doing here exactly?"

"Derek is going to help me with my tattoo." Scott stated before sitting in the chair in front of Derek. The alpha used his werewolf sight to spot Scott's incredibly faded tattoo. "The two bands, right? What does it mean?" He asked, and Scott replied, "I don't know, it's just something I trace with my fingers."

"Why is it so important to you?" Derek questioned, not fully understanding why he wanted to do this. Stiles and Sydney just stood behind the pair of werewolves, watching. "Do you know what the word tattoo means?" Stiles leaned over to tell Derek, "To mark something." Sydney elbowed the teen as he winked at the alpha, earning a small nudge from the human.

Scott corrected his friend, "That's in Tahitian. In Samoan it means open wound. I knew I wanted to get a tattoo when I turned 18, I always wanted one. I wanted to get it now to make it kind of a reward." When Derek asked a reward for what, Scott shyly responded, "For not calling or texting Allison all summer." Derek nodded, knowing exactly what that felt like. He felt the same way about the girl next to him. "Even when I really wanted to, even when it was so hard to sometimes. And I was trying to give her the space she wants. And four months later, it still hurts. It still feels like an..."

Sydney finished her werewolf friend's sentence, "Like an open wound." The huntress gave her sister's ex a look of understanding, and he knew that she was feeling the kind of pain he was. Derek buried his feelings for Sydney and took out a blow torch. He quickly changed the subject, "The pain's going to be worse than you've ever felt." Stiles then took that as his cue to leave, but Sydney stopped him before Derek could.

"Don't be a baby; help me hold him down." She ordered, and the teen groaned in response. He obliged, though, and held one shoulder as Sydney held the other. Derek slowly took Scott's arm and applied the flame to his skin. Scott started to scream and thrash, and Sydney and Stiles struggled to hold the werewolf down. Scott's werewolf form started to come out, but Sydney grabbed a rock from the floor and hit him over the head.

Stiles gave her a look of shock, and Sydney shrugged, "What? It's not like I killed him or something. He'll heal." Derek snorted at that, making Sydney chuckled under her breath. Derek had to admit, it was nice having her back.

Scott awoke with a gasp, sweat dripping off of him. He stared in awe at his new, permanent tattoo on his arm. Sydney threw Scott his shirt, which landed on his face. "Put your shirt on, Scotty. You're all tattoo-y and gross." Scott raised an eyebrow at that and did as she asked, while Stiles taunted, "Tattoo-y?" The hunter rolled her eyes and grumbled, "Shut up."

Sydney then spotted Isaac on the table, and she rushed over to him. He wasn't waking up, and she figured he was attacked. "An alpha did this, didn't he?" She mumbled, knowing Derek was listening. The alpha walked up to the hunter and revealed, "Yeah, he did." The girl sighed and put her face in her hands, rubbing her temples. "It's been four months. Has there been any news?"

Derek shook his head and answered, "No, we still can't find Erica and Boyd." Sydney took in a deep breath and Derek took her hands from her face, "I'm going to find them, okay? I'll bring them back." Sydney nodded and gazed into his eyes for a moment before walking away. She heard the boys talking at the front door, "You painted the door, why'd you paint the door?"

"Go home, Scott." The alpha told, and Sydney immediately understood that Derek did that to hide the symbol. "And why only one side?" Scott mumbled to himself, and Sydney put her hand on Scott's shoulder. "Leave it be, Scott." He ignored her and clawed his way through the paint, chipping it away. The beta quickly put the pieces together and questioned the alpha, "How many are there?"

Sydney saw that Derek wanted to remain silent, so she answered, "A pack of them, an alpha pack." Stiles and Scott looked at the hunter with shock, she knew this whole time. "You knew? And this whole time you were pretending to be oblivious?" Stiles questioned her, a mixture of disbelief and disappointment. The hunter defended herself, "In all honestly, I never really put together the alpha-animal problem."

Stiles was partly relieved at her answer, she wasn't totally lying to them. "A pack of them? How does that even work?" The human questioned, and Derek was the one to reveal, "I here there's some kind of a leader. They call him Deucalion. We know they have Boyd and Erica. Peter, Isaac, and I have been looking for them for the past four months. Don't blame Sydney at all, she had no idea. She just saw the symbol on the door."

"Say you find them, how do you deal with an alpha pack?" Scott asked Derek, who admitted, "With all the help I can get." He stared at Sydney as he spoke, and she looked down. Could she help? Isaac's voice cut them all out of their thoughts, "Where is she? Where's the girl?" Derek snapped back at his beta with confusion in his voice, "What girl?"
