"So tell me something." Harvey hands Veronica a drink as they take a break from dancing. Veronica accepts the drink and the continued conversation with Harvey. So far, this has been the most interesting Gala that she has been to in years. "What would you like to know?"
"Why aren't you bickering with Cooper?" Veronica gives Harvey a confused look. "Harvey, Cooper and I don't exactly see eye to eye. We are not exactly Yin and Yang… more like Yin and Yin… and that, my dear Harvey, I am quite sure is the name of a panda." She turns towards him with her coy little smile that Harvey knows Veronica employs when she is distracting him.
"So tell me something, Harvey." Harvey offers a warm smile in return to Veronica's counter. "Fair enough go ahead and ask."
"So why is it that you offer up so little of yourself?" Harvey gives Veronica a questioning look. "What do you mean?" Veronica takes a sip of her drink as she surveys Harvey. "Harvey, you spend a great deal of time inquiring of and about people but have not offered any skin in the game. You asked me about Edward, Louis, Travis and Cooper. You have had Mike look up my past. You are trying to find out if I have any secrets yet you have not offered any equity."
"I am your attorney and it is my job." Harvey pulls his safe card. He is surprised how quickly Veronica is able to pull down his defenses. Veronica gives him a sly look. "You, Harvey, are my father's attorney."
Harvey realizes that Veronica has a point. He is technically not Veronica's attorney. He finishes his drink as he thinks for a moment, he leans into Veronica with a hushed tone next to her ear and a gentle kiss to appear that he is not whispering. "My mother."
Veronica gives him a look as Harvey removes her drink and takes her hand. "It was my mother that broke my heart." He speaks softly so that she is the only one who can hear him. Veronica is touched by the trust that Harvey just put in her. Harvey proceeds to escort her towards the dance floor as Harvey pulls her in close to begin their dance Veronica counters with a soft flirtation delivered as only a debutante can deliver. "Are you expecting me to swoon, Mr. Specter?"
"No, I am expecting you to dance, Ms Tate." He pulls her in closer with a flash of his smile and a wink. "then I expect a little swooning." He sways in time with her on the dance floor.
"Are you always such a gentleman, my dear Mr. Specter?" He smiles as he gazes down at Veronica. "Yes" He whispers in her ear provocatively.
Veronica gives him a wink as she whispers in return. "What a pity." followed by an air kiss. Harvey laughs and pulls Veronica closer for a more intimate dance. As they finish their dance, Edward approaches and asks to cut in. Harvey kisses Veronica hand as he releases Veronica to Edward. Harvey chats with a few friends and Donna while Veronica dances with Edward.
"You look perfect my Poppet." Veronica offers a warm and loving smile which Harvey can't help but notice from across the room. Veronica casts a quick glance his way as she dances with Edward.
"So, I see you brought Mr. Specter this evening." Edward is far from shocked to see who escorted Veronica this evening. He is just pleased she decided to come. "He is handsome and pleasurable company, DD." Edward gives her a coy look in response. "And bringing Harvey will tweak your father." She gives him the sly grin. "And bringing him will tweak my father."
Edward escorts Veronica back to Harvey after their twirl around the dance floor. A short time later, Donna and her date decide to leave for the evening. Veronica offers up her car. Harvey will have Ray drive himself and Veronica home. Much to Harvey's surprise, he his having a wonderful time in the company of his debutante and would like the opportunity to see where the evening goes.
After an enjoyable conclusion, Harvey escorts Veronica to her door. "Would you like to come in." Veronica offers as she turns inward towards Harvey. Harvey has a warm but faraway look in his eyes that tells Veronica that he is tempted but will be a gentleman. "I would love to come in and for that reason I will say goodnight." Harvey brings Veronica's face close to his own placing a tender kiss her on the cheek. "I had a really nice time tonight you are quite a remarkable woman, Veronica." He caresses her cheek with his fingertips before parting.
Veronica turns towards Harvey with flash of her lashes and a run of fingertips down his tuxedo jacket as she says. "If this works out, spare me a thought once and a while you clever boy." Harvey cannot help but smile. Veronica Tate is definitely growing on him as he turns to walk to the elevator.
Veronica shuts the door and leans against it with a sigh. She changes out of her heels and couture into cashmere and converses over PJs. It is late but she is antsy and decides to heads out for a bit to clear her head. The loneliness is hitting her. Being with Harvey made her acutely aware of the loneliness of her current situation at this moment in time. She gives into temptation and heads to Travis' apartment.
As Travis opens his door, he is pleasantly surprised to see Veronica. "Well, hi there beautiful." Veronica looks up with a flirtatious expression. "Promise that you won't read anything into this." Travis is willing to take a chance with a nod. "Scout's honor." He moves to allow Veronica to enter while she pulls him into a kiss. "You weren't a scout." Travis laughs. "I know." He takes Veronica by the hand to lead her into his apartment. He doesn't know what is driving this sudden appearance of Veronica in his life but he is not one to mock his good fortune. He has missed the hell out of her.
The next morning finds Veronica walking down the hall towards her apartment. She rounds the corner from the elevator to find Louis is leaning in her doorway with a coffee. "So is this the walk of shame from Harvey's or Travis'." Louis as a judgmental smirk on his face.
Louis hands Veronica a coffee after she opens the door. Veronica surmises that Louis must be on his way to the office given his attire. Louis figured he would find out where she ended up last night before arriving at the firm. He wants to preempt any of the gossip and go straight to the source.
"What if I said it was Donna's." Veronica takes a sip of the coffee as she plops onto her sofa.
"Well then I would really love to see the video and you are lying 'cause that only happens in movies." Louis joins Veronica on the couch.
"Or your dreams." Veronica gives him a sarcastic wink as she lays her head on Louis' shoulder. "Only the really really good ones."
Louis begins his brief interrogation of Veronica. "So what is going on with you?" Veronica knows that she has little defense to Louis. He knows her too well. "Nothing, Louis, I was just lonely." He now knows… it was Travis. "Let us not forget what he did to us, Poppet?" She smiles at Louis. She knows that she leaned on him when Travis broke her heart. "You know there is only one person on earth who can call me Poppet… and live." Louis laughs. "Just be smart my darling… I don't want another broken heart. I am running out of duct tape… savvy."
