Bree sighed as she approached her locker, twisting the lock three times and then opening it. She shoved her books in and leaned against the surrounding blue doors, her mind completely full.
She hadn't been able to focus on anything but Mr. Davenport's banquet. She already had the dress and the shoes, the only problem was getting a date. Obviously she wanted to go with Chase, but seeing the circumstances, she couldn't.
But who else could she ask?
She tried Ethan, but that didn't go over very well.
"Hey, Ethan." Bree smiled as she walked over to her ex-boyfriend, who was currently talking with his friends. Although when he saw her, his happy mood faltered. "Uh, can I talk to you for a minute?"
"..Sure." He waved his buddies away and turned to her. "What's up?"
"Look, I know we left off on…bad terms." She started awkwardly. "No one is as sorry as I am-"
"Do you want something from me?" He asked suddenly, obviously annoyed by her. She sighed at that fact.
"Yeah. You see m-my Dad is having this sciency banquet thing this weekend, and I was wondering if you'd like to be my date?"
Ethan just stared at her. "Do you really think that's a good idea? I mean, we broke up, Bree. And now you're just asking me out again as if it's no big deal?"
"Is that a no?" She asked, the feeling of regret bubbling behind her abdomen.
He shut his locker door and picked up his book bag. "I just can't. Sorry." He gave her an uncomfortable smile before walking off.
Bree sighed and rested her forehead against her locker. Not only did she not have a date after that, she also felt horrible for even mentioning it to Ethan of all people. She should've known he would reject her, after what she did to him. She just couldn't blame him.
But that didn't leave very many options. She didn't know any other guy well enough to ask him out without it being weird.
Just then a group of jocks walked by, interrupting her concentration. The leader, the quarterback of the football team, was Trent. And, as usual, he was being loud and obnoxious. Bree couldn't help rolling her eyes whenever he came around.
He, with a smug smirk plastered on his face, stopped a few feet away from her to torment his victim of the day.
"Hey man." He said, looking down at the smaller kid. He then took the so called nerd's baseball cap. "Aw, thanks! How'd you know I love the Giants?"
The boy ran away in fear as Trent put the hat on, his buddies laughing behind him. He then turned and caught Bree watching the scene. She quickly turned back to her locker, but it was too late.
"Hey, Bree." He smiled, approaching her.
She took a deep breath before facing him, putting on a fake sweet smile. "Hello Trent."
He leaned against the lockers, putting one arm above her. "So, I heard you're having a party this weekend."
She furrowed her eyebrows. "What are you talking about?"
"Word's out that your dad, Davlestick or whatever, is hosting a shindig on Saturday."
Bree sighed. "It's Davenport. And yes, he's having a banquet." Then realization hit her. "Wait, what are you getting at?"
He shrugged, grinning. "Oh nothing. Only that it'd be spectacular for you to have a member of the winning football team on your arm when you go. It would definitely up your cool factor."
Her eyes went wide. "I am not taking you, Trent!"
He shrugged. "Alright, fair enough. It's the ladies choice after all." She sighed in relief as he began to back away. "Say, you don't know where little Leo is, do you?"
She narrowed her eyes. "Are you blackmailing me into taking you?"
He held his hands up. "Where did you get that idea?" He took a step closer. "Of course, I might be a little harder on Leo if you reject me."
She huffed. "You're despicable."
"Hey, I'm not that mean." He defended himself. "The worst I would do is add another trip to the dumpster."
Bree shuddered at the thought. "Why do you want to go anyway? All it would be is fancy clothing and snooty scientists."
For the first time since she'd known Trent, he looked shy. "No reason…"
Her eyes got bigger. "Wait a minute. Trent, do you like me?"
He scoffed. "What? Pssh, no! Why would I like you? I mean, that's ridiculous!"
She crossed her arms, smirking. "Alright, fine. You can be my date to the banquet."
His eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Yes, but only if you stop bullying Leo." She told him.
His shoulder slumped. "What? Oh come on!"
She shrugged. "No deal, no date."
He scowled before reluctantly nodding his head. "Fine. From now on, Leo is safe." Bree smiled in satisfaction. "Now what time should I be there?"
She tried not to look too disgusted when she realized that she actually had a date with Trent. The only thing she'd been thinking about was Leo's safety the whole time they were talking.
"I'll text you the details." She said at last, looking downtrodden.
He, fortunately, didn't notice as he turned to his friends and high fived each one of them. "Alright! Just scored a date with one of the hottest girls in school! Whoo!"
She rolled her eyes as he left, making sure to bang her head against the lockers when he was gone.

"Okay, this one's for the win." Chase stated as he stared at Leo across the table. "You ready?"
Leo nodded. "Bring it!"
Chase bit his lip as he held his cyber pong paddle up, in full concentration as he positioned the ball in the right place. Then he hit the target with full force, sending it flying toward Leo.
Leo, of course, was ready as it bounced off of his own paddle. It went back and forth for a few minutes, causing Leo to sweat and Chase to get more focused. But eventually it flew passed Leo, hitting the wall behind him.
"Yes!" Chase cheered, fist pumping the air in victory. "In your face!"
Defeat was visible on Leo's face as he threw his paddle down. "I'm disappointed in myself." He watched Chase do a happy dance. "But stop showboating!"
Chase chuckled as the lab doors opened, in walking Bree. Leo noticed and took his leave.
"Hey." Bree greeted as she walked passed him.
Leo narrowed his eyes at her. "Not in the mood!"
Bree looked taken aback as he left, then turned to Chase. "What's his problem?"
Chase shook his head as he put the supplies away. "Don't worry about it. He's just a sore loser!" He yelled the last part to make sure Leo heard him.
Bree laughed at his usual behavior. "Well, I'm happy to inform you that I have a date to the banquet."
The smirk faded from Chase's face. "What? Already?"
Bree shrugged. "I'm just that good!"
He rolled his eyes. "Oh great." He looked up at her. "Do I even want to know who it is?"
Bree shook her head. "I don't think you do. Why don't we just…keep it a secret until the actual event?"
Chase quirked an eyebrow. "Why? Who is it?"
"Nah, I don't think you should know just yet."
He chuckled. "Bree, just tell me."
She crossed her arms. "No! You'll find out on Saturday."
He let out a breath. "Come on! I'll tell you who I'm taking?"
She shook her head again. "No, I don't want to-"
"Lindsey Daniels!" He confessed, cutting her off.
Her eyes went wide. "Lindsey Daniels?"
He smirked and mimicked her position, also crossing his arms. "Yes, now who are you taking?"
She just stared at him for a second, her lips in a tight line, before turning on her heel and walking toward the elevator. "Bree! Just tell me!"
She smirked as she waved him off over her shoulder. "Just because you told me who you're taking doesn't mean I have to do the same thing!"
He groaned. "Alright fine! But don't think that this will drive me crazy. Because it won't!"
"Whatever you say!" She shrugged. They caught each other's eyes before the door closed, her disappearing from his sight.
He let out a chuckle, shaking his head. "This girl will be the death of me."
Wha-la! Another chapter! Haha
For those of you who didn't know, the whole 'cyberpong' gae was from the episode "The Rats Strike Back." I didn't want to confuse you! :P
And yes, I'm having Bree go to the banquet with Trent. But, I mean come on, if you've seen him in the show you know he's just a weirdo! He's anything BUT intimidating in my opinion! XD Also so he will stop bullying Leo, so there're two reasons!
Anyway, please read&review! :)
