Looking For A New Life Chapter 13

Emily returned a few hours later to Ali's hospital room. She wanted to tell Ali some things.

Ali saw her come back into the room and said, "Emily, please go home."

"No, I won't go home. I love you Ali and I'm not going to give up on you." Emily said.

Ali responded, "I'm damaged now, I don't know if I will ever be completely ok again."

"I'm damaged too Ali. I know what I went through is different from what you are going through. But I know what it's like to be hurt so bad and to have your life change. I lost my parents in that fire and I almost died. I wanted to give up too, but Aria, Spencer, and their families didn't give up on me."

Ali got angry, "This is different like you said, Emily. You can't help me. Those memories can't be erased. Please go home, I don't want you to be hurt."

Emily said, "I'm already hurt. I hurt for you Ali and went you through. Please don't send me away, I love you."

Tears were streaming down Emily's face.

Ali didn't say anything. A few minutes later, Emily left the room, after Ali refused to speak to her. She went back to the DiLaurentis home. She told Jessica about how Ali was trying to send her away. Jessica comforted her.

Jessica looked at Emily and said, "She might need time on her own to deal with things on her own. Maybe you should go, but Ali might come around."

"I don't want to leave New York or Ali. I want to make to see that she will be ok."

"She will be ok. It will just take time, Emily. About you go home and I will keep tabs for you. I'll call you and update you." Jessica said.

Emily thought about what Jessica said and she thought that maybe Ali needed time alone. She left New York, the next day and left a sealed letter for Ali.

Emily felt defeated as she came back to Rosewood. She arrived at the boarding house, where Aria awaited her. She told Aria everything and the truth about Ali's family being in the mafia. She explained to Aria that Ali broke up with her. Aria comforted her friend and encouraged her to fight for Ali. Emily said that she had tried, but Ali still sent her away.

That first night back in Rosewood, Emily didn't sleep at all. The second night, she headed to a bar in Rosewood that was known to cater to the gay and lesbian communities. She knew people would be staring at her, but she didn't care. She ordered a drink and looked around the bar.

Several minutes later, a woman came up to the bar. Emily saw that she had brown hair and her sunglasses on. Emily then realized it was Jenna Marshall. Jenna was the ex-stepsister of Spencer's boyfriend, Toby Cavanaugh. When they were in high school, Jenna was blinded due to a firecracker prank that happened on the 4th of July one year at a barbecue. Jenna was sent off to a school for the blind for a year. But she returned to Rosewood and finished her final two years at Rosewood High. Jenna's mother and Toby's father divorced soon after Jenna returned to Rosewood. Emily had occasionally talked with Jenna in high school, but the two were never friends.

Jenna folded up her white cane. The bartender asked if she wanted to order something. Jenna ordered a vodka with cranberry juice. Emily watched her.

Jenna sensed someone and said, "Who is there? My name is Jenna."

Emily spoke a bit loud and said, "It's Emily Fields."

Jenna smiled and said, "Emily, I'm not surprised you would be here."

Emily was surprised though about Jenna.

"I needed to do something, tonight. I needed to get my mind off of some things. I didn't know that you hung out here Jenna."

"I just moved back in town. I started my own business training guide dogs for blind people. I'm bisexual. I had relationships with a few women in college. You aren't dating anyone Emily?"

Emily responded, "No, I'm not anymore."

Jenna said, "You just broke up, I can tell. Want to talk about it?"

"No." Emily responded. She didn't want go into the specifics because of Ali's situation.

Emily said, "Tell me more about this business, you've started."

Jenna then told her about how she appreciated her first guide dog Shadow, which she had in high school. Emily remembered the guide dog and how Jenna sometimes took him to school with her. Jenna then talked about how she came became a guide dog teacher.

A couple of hours later, Emily was driving Jenna home. Jenna had gotten to the bar through a cab. Emily offered to take her home. She walked up with Jenna to the front door. She was living in a home near Emily's parents' home.

Jenna said, "I had a good time tonight Emily. I know you are going through some kind of breakup, but maybe we could go out for coffee sometime."

Emily said, "That would be nice."

A few days passed by. Emily was inside The Brew. She had already ordered beverages for herself and Jenna. She then watched as Jenna came in, with her new guide dog Betts. Betts was a golden retriever.

Emily went over to Jenna and said, "Hi Jenna. I already got us a table and drinks."

Jenna and Betts came over to the table.

Jenna took a sip of her coffee and said, "This tastes good. Thank you for ordering."

"You're welcome. So how are liking Rosewood again?" Emily asked.

"I'm still getting used to the town again. I will be traveling for my job, in a few weeks, I will be teaching a weekend seminar on guide dog usage in New York. Emily, I remember about the fire that happened after we graduated. How have you been since then? Do you have burn scars?"

Emily said, "I do have scars. I've had some surgeries done to treat the burns and scarring. The scars on my right side"

Jenna asked, "What do they look like? Can I feel your face?"

Emily was a bit taken back, by Jenna's request. But she figured, Jenna's request was harmless.

She said, "Sure, you can feel my face."

Jenna held out her hands and then Emily put them on her cheeks. Jenna felt around Emily's right side and she felt some of the raised scars on Emily's face. She felt around the left side of Emily's face which didn't have scars.

Jenna said, "I felt some of the scars. You must have went through a lot."

"I did. But I'm ok now. What happened to you in high school, must have been difficult." Emily said.

"It was. But I've dealt with it." Jenna said.

The two finished their coffee and pastries and made plans again. Jenna invited Emily to dinner at her house that weekend.

It was a few days later when Emily was driving over to Jenna's house. She felt weird about the time, she was spending with Jenna. But she viewed it as more of a friendship. She and Jenna didn't think of the coffee shop or this dinner as dates. Emily had been thinking of Ali quite a bit and she made a few calls to Jessica in New York. Jessica updated her on Ali. She told Emily, that the surgeons had finally put a fiberglass cast on Ali's wrist and hand. Ali was home with Jessica and Kenneth. Jessica said that Ali spent most of her time watching TV in her bedroom and sometimes there would be no sound coming from the bedroom. Jessica said that she tried to get Ali to talk to Emily on the phone, but Ali refused. Emily was heartbroken.

Emily pulled up to Jenna's house. She had a bottle of wine in her hand as a gift to Jenna for the dinner. She rang the doorbell and within moments, Jenna was there. Emily noticed that Jenna wasn't wearing sunglasses. Her white cane was in her hand.

Jenna led Emily into the dining room. Emily saw that the dining room table was set and that dinner was already there.

Emily said, "I brought a bottle of wine."

Jenna said, "Thank you, set it down on the table. I'll get glasses."

A few minutes later, the two were eating dinner. Jenna had prepared grilled chicken, spinach and berry salad, and corn on the cob.

Emily said, "It's amazing, how you are able to do this stuff."

"I've had years of practice. Hope I did everything right."

"You did."

Jenna smiled.

After dinner, Emily cleaned up the table and washed the dishes. She and Emily were in the living room chatting.

At one point, Jenna leaned to Emily and kissed her. Emily was surprised by the kiss and pulled back a little.

Jenna said, "I'm sorry."

"it's ok."

Jenna put her hand on Emily's cheek and said, "I have to confess that I always had a crush on you Emily. Back in high school, I admired you for being out of the closet."

Emily then remembered the time, she saw Jenna looking at her seductively at a Halloween party.

Emily said to Jenna, "Being out of the closet in high school was hard for awhile. But things got better."

Jenna kissed Emily again and this time Emily kissed her back. Things got heated and later the two ended up in Jenna's bedroom. They removed each others' clothes and were kissing various parts of each other's bodies. Jenna got on top of Emily at one point and put two fingers inside her. Emily moaned. The two did other things. Eventually, they fell asleep. Emily woke up and glanced at a sleeping Jenna. She now felt bad for Ali. Ali had pretty much broken up with her, but Emily felt like she had betrayed Ali. Emily got out of bed and dressed. She took Jenna's iPhone into the bathroom. Jenna had explained to her before, how her iPhone worked on a voice controls. Emily recorded a message on Jenna's phone and then put it back where she found it.

Emily headed to the boarding house. She felt disgusted with herself for sleeping with Jenna. She broke down crying in her room.
