"We need you to come to GJ headquarters in Go city as soon as possible Shego." Director Betty stated over the phone, "it's rather important," Betty emphasised. Shego let out a heavy sigh and turned round to look at the Possible's residence in the distance.
"Ok," Shego decided "should be there soon, depending on traffic."
"Very well. Try not to bring a police chase with you." With that last comment Shego heard the line go dead. Shego put the phone back into her pocket but as she did, she felt the sharp car keys in her pocket graze against her skin.
I could just get in the car and drive off, no need to tell Kim… she's a grown woman now… does she really deserve to have me in her life? Some unstable criminal thief with no chance? I mean… look at all the trouble I've caused her parents already. Shego reasoned her head.
Maybe it would be better if I just left.
Shego slowly walked towards her car, once she arrived she lifted the doors up and sat down and put the keys in the ignition.
"Ok so-"
Shego jumped at the voice that had broken through her thoughts.
"What?!" Kim suddenly asked, worried what could have startled Shego so much.
"Jesus! How did you get in my car?" Shego asked looking at the bewildered red head.
"Drakken left it unlocked. Betty called me, said we had to go straight away."
Letting out another sigh Shego twisted the key "of course she did."
An hour and a half later
Shego pulled the car up onto the curb right outside GJ and quickly killed the engine stepping out.
"Did you really have to get changed while driving… on the highway!?" Kim asked as she gladly stepped out the death vehicle.
"Would you rather I did it on the side of the road pumpkin?" Shego teased, "Certainly get the high way maintenance guys a run for their money."
The two women entered the building, Kim went in first Shego second. As soon as Shego had set foot in the building almost every agent in the shiny white reception area pulled their guns out.
"Freeze!"
"Put your hands in the air!"
"Drop your weapons!"
Kim did as was asked but Shego just raised an eyebrow. "Gee, you guys throw such a great welcome party, I'm flattered. Really." Shego spoke loudly.
"Weapons down agents," a voice spoke from above as two shiny black boots came into view along with the rest of the body. "Shego's arrest warrant- sorry I mean warrants, have been temporarily cleared."
"Betty." Shego replied flatly as she walked past the director.
"Shego." The one eyed woman replied in an equally flat tone, her tone picked up once she spotted miss possible "Ah the famous Kim possible, glad we could meet again."
"The pleasures all mine director, I believe you wanted a discussion with us?" Betty opened her mouth to speak but turned round to still see all the agents staring at the three women.
"Maybe better to discuss this in my office." Betty replied in a lower voice. "What do I pay you for?! To stare? Get back to work! That nuclear missile isn't going to find itself!" The director shouted down in a loud authoritative tone.
"Yes Director." The group of agents replied in a flat tone as they dispersed.
Director's office half an hour later.
"To be completely honest Kim this meeting won't really concern you, but I' glad you came anyway. Your… relationship… with Shego may be useful during times where she may not be as cooperative with us as she may be with you."
Kim blushed at the director's use of 'relationship' but tried to hold it down.
"Of course director, but where is Shego now?" Kim asked.
"Currently being prepped. We have reason to believe that Shego has been the result of a failed experimentation." Betty replied flatly, pulling out some brain scans. "These are Shego's brain scans recently arrived from the hospital." There was a small black and green liquid surrounding the right hand side of Shego's brain, "and here are the one's just delivered to me." Betty passed the paper to Kim, the liquid had spread around Shego's brain almost completely.
"Is it… a kind of cancer?" Kim asked, fearing the worst.
"We don't know." That was the worst. "But our scientists believe it may be growing into some kind of muscle layer, how or why it's doing this we still do not know. Has Shego behaved differently?"
"Erm not that I can recall Director," Kim replied vaguely as she continued to look at the two different scans.
"Ok then we have reason to believe it has not affected her behaviour, what about her powers? Are they… stable?"
Kim suddenly flashed back to the other night where Shego had managed to light her bed sheets on fire. Kim wondered whether it would be her place to inform director Betty of Shego's own experience…
"Erm well there was this one instance…"
GJ's safe floor
Shego continued to flip through a magazine as a member of staff continued to take blood samples. Eventually Kim and Betty came down the lift.
"Oh good, the Calvary have arrived. Was worried you'd left me here in the metal box for the rats," Shego joked.
"Well metal box is a bit of an understatement considering its three hundred feet below ground level with some of the highest of security and strongest metals on this planet applied to the structure… but I suppose you could call it a 'metal box'." Betty replied, defending her funding.
"Uhuh," Shego returned back to her magazine.
"Shego we have some things we need to discuss." Betty replied again.
Ten minutes later
Shego leaned over her chair as all the information was fed to her.
There was some kind of… thing… on – and possible even in her brain. No one knew why it was there, what it did.
"So why don't' we try and trigger it?" Shego suggested out of desperation.
Growing up she wanted to be loads of things, but failed experiment was not one of them.
"Because- well actually that's not a bad idea…" Betty contemplated.
"Have you two lost it?" Kim suddenly burst "Contract? An unknown thing! Around your brain?! That organ that keeps you alive!"
"Calm down Kimberly, we will have the best medics at the scene."
"Shego you can't be seriously considering this." Kim turned to Shego.
"Well it's not like I have anything to lose, and besides… healing factor! It'll be fine, right Bets?"
"Put the bolt through this temple… oh yes it will be fine." Betty joked.
Kim couldn't believe these two.
Shego had been changed into shorts and a t shirt, with various wires attached to her head, chest and spine, all connecting to a tablet strapped tightly to Shego's back.
Kim and Betty stood behind a triple layered, one way mirror. With various other scientists and assistants with them, on the other side of the window Shego was surrounded by various machines, most of them Kim could only explain as high tech gym equipment.
In the viewing room it showed a live feed of Shego's vitals, and most importantly the view of her brain and… whatever it was.
"Ok Shego, you ready to begin these tests?" Betty asked over the intercom.
"Yeah sure… you guys suit the lab coats by the way." Shego replied, refining her vision through the window to see Betty and Kim in white lab coats. Shego also noticed one of the assistants write something down.
"I thought this mirror was one way view?" Kim asked Betty.
"It is." Betty replied simply. "Very well Shego, let's start."
The first test was a two hour on a treadmill, Shego's heart rate was barely raised.
The next was a muscle strength tests where Shego managed to lift three times the Olympic weight lifter did.
After that it was hanging Shego upside down for an hour.
Then a swimming test, then electric shock tests, more brain scans, then emotional stress tests, plasma tests…
Tests, tests, test and more tests.
But nothing was causing this thing on Shego's brain to change its behaviour.
It was almost night time and Kim was almost falling asleep on the couch provided. Betty stood by the window rubbing her temples as she tried to not tell herself that this was a day wasted and precious resources.
Suddenly one of her own personal assistants came through the room. "Director!" He called out, quickly bringing Kim out of her light sleep.
"We found this on the island," he held up a small vial filled with a green liquid only halfway along with some burnt paper work.
Kim stood up next to director Betty and looked at the file. Half of it was burnt and the other part was a bit smudged but there was some distinguishable words such as 'trigger', 'reaction' and 'experiment.'
"Eugh at this point agent, I'm willing to try anything. Give it to Shego." Betty replied in a grumpy tone.
"You want me… to actually go… in there?"
"Yes you! You're a GJ agent for crying out loud. Don't tell me you have a fear of needles."
"No ma'am." The agent humbly scampered through the room into the testing facility.
Kim, Betty and the few remaining scientists looked at the agent give the vial to Shego.
"Gee, what's got you so jumpy hop scotch?" Shego asked the agent.
"Here, director Betty said you need to take this." The man stuttered, shakily handing over the vial to Shego.
"Uhuh."
As soon as Shego opened the vial she felt something in her burst. Not a small twitch… and then she lost consciousness.
"Doctor what's happening!" Director shouted as the screens in the viewing room went red as Shego's vitals increased dramatically.
Suddenly a loud almost roar was let out of Shego as she pounced up and looked round frantically in an almost animal like way. The team watched in terror as Shego set her eyes on the agent who had handed her the vial was suddenly pushed to the ground as Shego's suddenly long and sharp nails took a slice of his neck out.
"Shego no!" Kim went to the door to run in but Betty held her back.
"No Kim! She's not in control anymore, that's not Shego!" Suddenly the animal that looked like Shego started to run towards the window.
"Agents get your weapons ready!" The director called out as suddenly the room was filled with agents.
Shego's body came flying through the window, Kim saw bodies flying around the place, but she was too frozen in place to do anything. She'd never seen anything like this, Shego's eyes were identical to a cat's green ones, her back arched in an almost hunting position and her teeth pushed out a snarl face continued to own Shego's face.
"Shego stop!" The body turned round… and froze slightly as it made eye contact with the red head, slowly it approached the red head, its deep breaths starting to become normal but suddenly it heard a click of a gun. Grabbing the pretty red head, it twisted its body to protect the other woman as a gunshot entered its stomach.
Letting out another roar it charged the agent. Turning round again to look at the red head, it turned back and ignited a massive plasma blast through the wall and began its escape.
Into Go city.
