Chapter 13: One More Night

"How much longer?" I asked.

"Should be back just after dark," Daryl answered. I turned my gaze back out the window.

"You ok?" Tyrese asked me.

"Just worried is all, guess you are too," I answered, "What did you do before?"

"Does it matter?" he snapped.

"Not really, just looking for a distraction is all," I responded.

"Sorry, didn't mean to snap at you," he said softer this time. "Sasha and I grew up in Jacksonville. Our father was a truck driver so we didn't see him much. Our mother worked a lot so Sasha and I depended on each other."

"It was the same with me and my brother too," I stated.

"I've heard the rumors," he replied, "Shane lost it in the end."

"He did," I said, "Where this world has brought you and Sasha closer, it drove a wedge between me and my brother." He read the sadness in my eyes when I looked back at him.

"Sorry," Tyrese responded.

"You're supposed to be distracting me," I smiled, "So what did you do in Jacksonville?"

"I went to Florida State and played football for a couple years," he said.

"I told you he played football," I said to Daryl.

"So?" he snorted back.

"Get over your ego there, cowboy," I stated.

"What the fuck does it matter what people did before? It doesn't change what the world is now," Daryl replied, "None of it does."

"It might not," I said, "But talking about it gives me something to do besides listen to you be angry."

"You should have let it go," he said.

"I thought there was medicine in that bag," I responded, "Even one more dose would save just one more person."

"What good would it have done if you went over?" he asked, "If you were gone…"

"You risk your life every moment of every day," I stated, "Why isn't it ok if I do the same?"

"It just ain't," he replied.

"Yes it is," I said. "Why are you mad at me?"

"I ain't," he responded.

"Sure sounds like you are," I said and turned to Tyrese, "You were a Gator, huh?"

"It's not as exciting as you might think," he replied, "I rode the bench until my junior year and busted my knee my second game. There went my pro football dreams."

"What did you study?" I asked.

"Early childhood education," he answered.

"You were a teacher?" I asked.

"Yeah," he answered, "8th grade history and freshman football coach."

"That sounds like a fulfilling career," I said.

"Guess so," he responded, "So's being a cop."

"Not as glamorous as you might think," I said, "It was King County, GA, not Law and Order."

"Don't sell yourself short," Tyrese stated.

"I'm not just being realistic," I replied.

"I guess so," Tyrese stated.

"What brought you to Georgia?" I asked.

"After the world ended, we bunkered with a neighbor for a few months," he said, "Jerry was one of those survivalist nuts, always preparing for the end of the world. Had a shelter under his shed in the backyard."

"Guess Jerry had the right idea," I responded.

"Sasha and I climbed out of that hole after we ran out of supplies," he said, "We had a group of 25 or so and we were heading to DC before we got over run."

"Then you found Woodbury?" I asked.

"And Karen," he said sadly. "She was the one good thing in this world I found."

"We'll find the son of a bitch who did it, I promise," I replied.

"I know, I'm sorry I blew up on you," he said.

"I don't blame you, if it were him," I whispered motioning to Daryl, "I'd have done the same."

"You and him seem so different," he stated.

"We are," I replied. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to see Bob's sad eyes.

"I'm sorry," Bob whispered. "I didn't want to hurt nobody."

"I know," I squeezed his hand. "You'll make it right."

"If it's the last thing I do," he responded.

"Damn right," Daryl muttered.

"That's not helping anything," I said. We rode the rest of the way in silence. The prison came into view.

"What the fuck!" Daryl exclaimed.

"What happened?" I asked Rick as we climbed out of the van.

"The herd busted through," Rick answered. "Carl and I took 'em out."

"How's Sasha?" Tyrese asked.

"I don't know," Rick answered. Tyrese and Bob ran into A block.

"Noah?" I looked at Rick.

"He's still with Beth in the administration building," he said.

"Go," Daryl stated, "I'll be there in a bit."

….

"How is he?" Daryl asked walking into our cell. I laid Noah down.

"He's lost a little weight," I answered, "I knew he wouldn't take a bottle. I just fed him. He'll be a sleep for a while."

"Oscar didn't make it," Daryl said.

"I know," I looked at him, "He was a good man. Too good to be taken out by a glorified cold." I sat down on the bed.

"Yeah," he responded. "You should sleep. Gotta clean the yard again in the morning."

"I don't want to sleep," I looked up at him, "Not yet." I reached out and took his hand. He squeezed. He knelt in front of me.

"You sure this is the time for this?" he asked tucking the hair behind my ear.

"I don't want to waste another second," I said, "Nothing is guaranteed." He stood and hooked the strap of his crossbow on the edge of the top bunk. He looked down at our sleeping baby.

"He won't wake up?" he asked. I shook my head and stood up. I wrapped my arms around his waist and pressed against him. He held me tightly as I listened to his heartbeat quicken. Daryl lifted my chin and pressed his lips softly against mine. I pulled at the buttons of his shirt and dropped it to the ground. I ran the palms of my hands down his arms and laced my fingers with his.

"Daryl, please," I whispered placing one of his hands on my breast, "touch me." He caressed my breast softly then slid his other hand up my shirt raising it over my head. I pulled at his belt and unbuttoned his pants.

"Slow down, Teddy, we have all night," he whispered and sat me down on the bed. He knelt in front of me again, pressing his lips against my neck. He unclasped my bra and lowered it down my arms. I moaned softly when his tongue found my hardened nipple. I leaned back on the bed. Daryl slipped my boots off and slowly pulled my pants down. I held him tightly as he pressed his lips to mine again.

"I love you," I whispered against his lips. He mumbled some kind of agreement against my neck. He pressed his lips against the tops of my breasts. I gasped when his finger slid inside me. His thumb massaged my clit as he worked another finger inside. I felt my thighs start to shake and my walls squeezed tight around his fingers. He slowed the movement of his thumb and pulled his fingers out of me. I groaned a little in disappointment.

"Just wait, babe," his tongue replaced his thumb on my clit. His warm breath on me sent me soaring over the edge. His hands steadied my quivering thighs. I clenched the pillow behind my head and my eyes rolled back as I exploded.

"Daryl," I sighed. He smiled up at me as he rose back up. I sat up shaking and pressed my lips to his chest. I traced my tongue down his stomach and pushed his pants to the floor. I traced my fingers along his hardening shaft.

"You don't have to," he moaned as I ran my tongue around the head.

"I know," I said, "Lay down." I guided him to the bed. He kicked his boots off and stepped out of his pants. I ran my tongue from the root to the tip of his shaft. I slowly slid him in my mouth. A deep moan escaped his lips as I constricted my mouth around him. I stroked him as I bobbed up and down on him. I looked up and he threw his head back. I smiled and felt his orgasm building. I sucked hard on him as he released.

I continued milking him until he said, "You have to stop." He pulled me up and laid my head on his chest. I heard his heart beating fast.

"You ok?" I asked looking up at him.

"You tryin' to kill me?" he asked.

"Not today," I responded. "Do you need a minute?" I kissed his neck and ran my hand down his stomach. He grabbed my hand and rolled me on my back, pinning my wrists beside my head.

"You are trying to kill me," he smiled.

"Nope, I just want you inside me," I said.

"Is that all?" he moaned as he grinded his hips against mine. I felt him harden against my leg. I hooked my leg around his hip.

"That's all," I felt him sink slowly inside me. I moaned as he pressed his lips against mine. I lifted my hips and he sank further. I squeezed my walls around him.

"That feels good," he whispered.

"Daryl," I sighed, "Please move." He smiled down at me and pulled out and thrust deep again. He tightened his grasp on my wrists as he thrust again and again. I wrapped my legs around his waist. I felt my core tighten around him, as I got closer to the edge. He thrust deep and came. He released my wrists and I ran my fingers through his sweaty hair.

"We should sleep," he said looking down at me, "Gonna be a long day tomorrow."

I nodded, "Kiss me first." He pressed his lips softly against mine the rolled off me. I nuzzled into his neck.

"Go to sleep now, babe," he whispered. I closed my eyes and drifted off.

….

"You're still here," I said as I woke up still in Daryl's arms.

"You were so peaceful, I didn't want to wake you," he replied, "Now that you're up I need you to move. I gotta take a piss."

"Ok," I smiled as I sat up rubbing my eyes. "I'm surprised Noah hasn't woken up yet."

"Maybe he's finally sleeping through the night," Daryl said pulling his pants up. I stood and walked to his basinet. I felt his head.

"He's a little warm," I said, "Maybe I should get Hershel or Dr. Stevens to take a look at him."

"Yeah," he said. "Come on." I pulled my clothes on and grabbed Noah's basket.

I stopped in the common area. "Beth, will you keep an eye on him? I'm going to see if your dad or Dr. Stevens can take a look at him. He wasn't around any of the sick kids was he?"

"No I kept him and Judith away from everybody," she answered.

"He's quiet but he seems to be running a bit of a fever, I'm probably worried over nothing," I said.

"Daddy's outside," she replied, "Haven't seen Dr. Stevens in a while."

"Ok," I walked down the steps outside. Daryl was already out there loading up the dead bodies. He gave me a quick smile.

"How's Glenn?" I heard Tyrese say.

"Doing better thought I could use some air," Hershel answered.

"He's a tough sombitch," Daryl said.

"He is," Hershel replied.

"You're a tough sombitch," Daryl stated.

"I am," Hershel responded with a smile.

"Is Dr. Stevens up in A Block with Lizzy and the kids?" I asked.

"No," Hershel replied, "You got something that needs looking at?"

"Noah's running a little fever, probably nothing but I wanted her to take a look at him," I said.

"She's not here," Hershel replied, "Talk to Rick about her. She's all right. I can come have a look if you want."

"You've had your fill of sick people. I'll have Bob look at him," I responded, "He owes me a favor."

"Alright," Hershel said.

….

"How you doing?" I asked Bob who was sitting on the floor in his cell.

"Tired," he responded. "You need something?"

"I need you to take a look at Noah for me," I said.

"Never much worked on kids before," he answered, "Dr. Stevens was a pediatrician."

"I know can't find her though," I said, "Caleb's gone and Hershel's out getting some air."

"I can take a look at him for you, Teddy," he replied.

"Get some rest first," I stated, "I'm sure I'm just overreacting."

"I'll be in there shortly," he said.

….

Hope you all are enjoying the story. I'm still thinking about which group Teddy should end up with. What are your thoughts?
