Hidden XII

Mikan groaned as she woke up from her slumber, and the room was so familiar that it was at the tip of her tongue, yet she wasn't able to point out anything. The room was dark, but comforting for the young princess. Like it hadn't been so cold to her, or the fact only the moonlight was shining into the room.

"You're awake, Mikan?" Mikan sighed loudly, but he could hear her from the living room. "How did you get injured?"

Mikan shook her head; silently pleading for her brother not to take the topic further but Rei wouldn't want any more danger to his sister.

"Please, Mikan. I may send you out for missions, but that does not mean I would be cruel to a family member." Rei explained. "That's what I was taught when I was younger, and I wouldn't abandon family."

Mikan took a deep breath. "I let my guard down while I was doing the mission. I almost screwed up the entire mission if I didn't take the documents needed."

"It didn't seem like a simple attack on you."

"A sword came in and stabbed me on the stomach," Mikan explained. "It was an experienced swordsman that had exceptional skills that even stunt me beautifully. I had to keep reminding myself that I was in a dangerous situation." Mikan could remember every clean swipe that the fighter had made and breathtaking was a serious understatement and rather an insult to the skills.

Rei sighed. "Seems like you have healed most of your injuries, but try not to scare me or Youichi. We both had a bad scare when you reopened your wound." Mikan looked away with shame.

"What happened to your eyes? You scared the daylights of us just now." Mikan bit her lip as she spoke.

"Something grim came when I had the vision," Mikan explained. "I couldn't pinpoint what but it is certainly going to affect us sooner or later."

"Then why..."

"They have something to do with this too." Mikan wasn't going to reveal any more of the unforeseen. "Sorry…" Rei softened his eyes, patting his little sister's head.

"Don't worry about it too much. Meanwhile, uncle is deciding that you would be joining the Special Class."

Mikan widened her eyes. "But Rei-Onii-sama! Why would he want me to join classes with T10?! To this school, I am of no importance!"

Rei shrugged, not knowing the reason either. "Maybe he wants to keep a closer watch on you?"

Mikan gritted her teeth. "Can you try-"

"I tried the same thing, but he wouldn't listen. You know how it is when it comes to uncle."

"Then I shall ask him myself!" Mikan huffed.

"No."

"Why, Uncle Kazumi?! You can't do this to me!" Mikan scowled.

"I can and I will. You are one of the most important people in the Underworld. I can let you off freely like your parents, Mikan. I have my share of grief about your parents; please don't let me do this to you."

Mikan slumped down. "Why…"

"It's for your own good." Kazumi took a good look at Mikan. She was like the two of them combined. With Yuka's looks and Izumi's personality on the line, it has been difficult for Kazumi not to think about the couple.

"Mikan, we need to go now." Rei, dressing up as Persona now, entered the room, waiting for his sister to finish her business with the principal.

"Hai, sensei." They promised each other that they would keep their sibling relationship to a close minimum, and hence the formal speech.

Mikan took a last stare at her uncle before walking out. Kazumi solemnly closed his eyes.

Come back soon, Izumi, Yuka-san.

Mikan strode with confidence and sat at her new place with the T10. Rumors spread faster than fire, and all Mikan wants was just peace on her part. Youichi didn't even dare looked into her eyes for the day, in fear that the full blown Yukihira blood decided to release its fury. Persona didn't show anything, but he was getting pressured from Mikan staring at him intensely for the day.

Even when Natsume made a mistake during ability classes, the stare was piercing through his soul. Her eyes were mischievous enough to spill his secrets, and he could help but feel like hiding from his dearest youngest sister.

The T10 had felt the same thing, but it wasn't as intense as the rest of the two brothers. They have a connection with each other, but the higher ups were so lip-tight about their identities. All the more so for Mikan who is only a mere commoner.

"Mikan will be joining us the T10 due to the higher-ups' demands."

"What!?" Luna screeched. "I won't accept this! She's only a mere commoner!"

Of course you won't. You're the enemy that we will be eliminating after all. And you won't be able to recognize our little princess here. "You have no say in this, Koizumi. They have decided on this."

"So Mikan-nee will be staying with us huh?" Youichi asked. Mikan sighed.

"Don't make me take care of you, Youichi. I already have to take care of Yuri too. And you're old enough to wake yourself up." Mikan lamented.

Youichi groaned. "But Mikan-nee~"

"Or ask Persona-sensei to call you. I'll get a way to get to school." Mikan explained. Luna huffed in anger as she walked out.

"I'll tell daddy and sue this school for this!" Mikan rolled her eyes mentally. If such a person rules my precious kingdom, it would be put to ruins!

"Sakura, sit next to the Black Cat and we shall get along with the lessons," Persona commanded, but with a hint of gentleness hidden in his tone. Mikan sat down gracefully as he started his instructions.

"Seeing that Koizumi rudely disrupted classes, Sakura would follow me along with the Black Cat and Hijiri. Start on the questions that are on the paper for the rest of you in your ability class. I would need to test the newest transferee."

Youichi clicked his tongue, not wanting to hurt his sister.

Mikan sighed as she took a black bag in the midst of nowhere. Her white half mask lay innocently in the bag, and her white shirt exposed her torso. Her white shorts revealed her milky-creamed legs and wore a coat that it almost reached her ankles, leaving the front exposed.

"Black Cat, this is Dark Angel, one of the mission agents with a perfect record." Persona trailed off. "She will also be your training partner since Koizumi seemed to regress your performance."

"Hn." Natsume lit fire on his hands, not caring that it scared Mikan. Mikan looked at it boringly before she smirked.

"I have seen such a fire before, but really, is that the best that you could do?"

"What better opinions would you think, Mikan-nee? Natsume-nii has done his best."

Mikan laughed. "That's his best, not mine. What I want is according to my standards. He's doing this at a child's level."

"And you found a way to make him the best of best, Dark Angel?" Persona asked.

"Of course!" My plans never fail on me!" Mikan smiled. "But I wouldn't guaranty him being the best of the best. How he performs during the tournament is another thing entirely."

Persona narrowed his eyes. "Very well then. I'll inform the rest of the higher-ups of his training." Before he walked off, he handled over a letter to Mikan.

"They expect your presence." Mikan groaned.

"All I want is just a break, and now we need to have it again…." Mikan droned. "How long will this end, Persona-sensei?"

"Until they are satisfied, Dark Angel." Persona smirked. He swiped off a file towards her, with Mikan successfully capturing it.

"Time attack, Dark Angel. Don't get yourself injured like the last few missions." Mikan gave a dry laugh.

"I still came back alive didn't I?" Mikan was going to continue when she was interrupted.

"Mikan-nee! I forbid you to even get injured! You almost died from your last mission!" Youichi shouted and screamed.

"Youichi, mind what you are saying," Mikan warned, "You're in front of the Black Cat."

Youichi looked away. "Che."

"Hijiri Youichi."

"Sorry, alright? I wouldn't want you to be hurt again, Mikan-nee. And who would take care of Yuri if you are gone?" Youichi chided.

"Fine. I won't get injured again. I promise." With that, she burned off the file and ran off.

Natsume was getting intrigued with the transfer student as she wasn't the same as anyone would have known. Even the infamous ice-queen couldn't get the information that she wanted, and stands being mysterious enough.

Mikan was hopping back from her mission, seeing that it was easy enough that she could clear it within her best timing. Rather than that, she had to face the Underworld Council for her meeting. Mikan stared at the Black Cat who was out in the balcony of his room. She had recently moved into the rooms, but she wasn't that sure if she wanted to live with them.

They have a mansion exclusive for their own family. Kazumi would let them stay there, but only Rei was staying in the mansion while Youichi stayed along with T10 when it comes to having a mansion of their own.

"Not sleeping, Hyuuga-san?" Mikan stepped on the railings of the balcony as she balanced herself perfectly.

"Why? Would you rather want to sleep with me?" Natsume smirked as her face went red.

"Of course not! It's against the rules in my family!" Mikan huffed, "I'll be killed if anyone realizes I did any immoral act in the school. I come here to study, not to fool around."

"Then what about the little girl?" Mikan softened. "There are rumors about you and her."

"Haha….. Do you believe them, Hyuuga-san?" Mikan smiled, "Yuri is actually a dangerous Alice user I picked up before she lose it and gain another. Cute child, isn't she?"

Natsume could feel the brilliance of the smile, and he didn't actually hate it at all. It was quite warm and cozy for a smile. The smiles that he got were all ugly, and they were seductive smiles that didn't attract him at all.

Mikan reached a hand out to him. Natsume reached out his hand to receive a light blue stone.

"This is….."

"A healing stone, Hyuuga-san. Just heal yourself and get well soon." With that she disappeared into the dark, leaving Natsume all alone.

What a strange, intriguing girl….
