After I've put the Hiatus note in the summary I was suddenly hit by my muse ...
So, yeah after a Long, Long Time I've written a new chapter! I really can't abonden this Story...

Well then, enjoy or not it's up to you.

Mafia Life

It has been half a year since he had inherited the title of the Vongola boss. The year was getting near its end and Tsuna really wished he had never promised to become the tenth boss. The wealth and luxurious life weren't able to cover up the work and smooth his mood. His work wasn't just tiresome, but also headache inducing and painfully stressful.

Every day he tried his hardest to work through all those piles of paper on his desk, but it was really fruitless because they reproduced like cockroaches on a daily basis. Most of those documents were complaints. There were Families complaining about one another, there were civilians complaining about the ruthless and harsh youngsters who didn't know how to do their work properly and from time to time there were complaints from the maids saying that they had too much work and too few hands. It got on and on like this every day.

Most of the time he had to look over budget plans and bills. The first thing he had noticed with their book managing was that all bookmakers had different calculation methods. It had been really hard for him to figure out all those differences, in the end he had decided to let them work on a way to figure out a solitary method. That way he wouldn't need to damage his brain with their different ways of putting things together.

And then they had fought over whose method was the best. He almost had despaired at this, but his angel had stepped in and recommended a totally different way. She had explained that the best action would be to use a software program to deal with budget plans and book keeping. Tsuna had totally agreed to that and the Vongola experts were already working non-stop to develop a simple but efficient software for the book keepers and himself to use.

That was just one of the many changes he had made for the Family.

A lot of people had been against his choice of right hand man, but he never did budge on his decision. Nobody else had been fit for this position. He was the first boss ever, who hadn't chosen a guardian as his right hand man. The one who had been chosen was really surprised at that, but Tsuna had his reasons for naming Reborn as his second in command. Reborn had his trust, he had the brains, the experience and the influence in the Mafia world, not to mention respect from people all around the world. And most importantly he was a man who would reprimand and punish the boss whenever he was being lazy.

Sometimes he really regretted his decision, because Reborn was, is and will be a Spartan. Complains were severely punished and when Tsuna extended his lunch break for just a few seconds there was hell to pay.

But those things were nothing in comparison to his recent agony.

Hayato had gone to an extended stay in America. It had been two weeks prior; Verde had come to visit Reborn for one reason or another. Hayato had used this chance to talk to the infamous genius inventor. She had talked to him about the work of Professor Evergreen and Verde was all ears. The research had gone fine, but now they faced another problem; men didn't have the necessary organs to carry out children, so they needed a method to artificially creating those in order to let the child grow. For Tsuna it had sounded like those two were talking in an alien tongue, all those complicated words made his head spin. But then the scientist said something, something that made Hayato smile brightly. With that beaming smile of hers she had told him she would leave to the Science department immediately, together with Verde. Tsuna hadn't been able to protest, after all she was doing this to fulfil their dream of becoming parents.

And he was stuck with his damn paper work and no Hayato to pamper him during the nights.

Tsuna sighed for the umpteenth time this day and ruffled his already rather messy hair. His suits jacket hung over the back of his office chair and his tie was loosened and crooked. He was reading a report written by Yamamoto who was investigating a case of illegal sports betting in their turf. The thing about it being illegal wasn't really what bothered him, it was the lack of permission from Vongola and the breaching of turf laws. It was one of the many rules that you had to pay the boss of the turf if you wanted to do business under his nose. Those rules were made to be followed and if you broke them you had to pay the price. This betting ring was earning money and didn't share with Vongola, it was a huge break of the unwritten law and it granted on his nerves. At first Tsuna had wanted to ignore it, because there was no harm done, but then Reborn reminded him that he needed to punish the lawless. If he so much as let one offence slip, he would seem as a weak boss and other Families would look down on Vongola. As a result they would no longer obey the rules they had set for them centuries ago. It could end in an all-out war with younger and aspiring Families.

Tsuna had to take those points; he didn't want to take any chances of people selling drugs to children in his streets.

Yamamoto had been really careful in his investigation and he looked into any hint they got, but he still hadn't found the people behind the betting ring. Whenever he thought he was getting to the, he met a dead end. It was almost like they knew every move he made and that was almost impossible, because his Rain was like a shadow moving in the dark. There were chances of one of Yamamotos subordinates or informants to be a spy. As much as they wanted to trust the people they were working with; the doubts were still there.

The rain guardian and he had decided to plot a strategy to get to know who the mole was. Yamamoto would talk to his subordinates about his fake plans, write a fake report to Tsuna which was handed to him trough one of the Rain men and then Yamamoto gave him his real report in person. They had played it double safe to find out who gave information away to the turf offender.

The strange thing was; they still hadn't any clue about the identity of the mole. It was really frustrating and granting on his nerves. Yamamoto played it cool; saying that they would find the mole and the masterminds of the sports betting. Tsuna had no choice but to have faith in Yamamotos skills.

He put the report aside and took a sip of his now cold tea. For a moment he leaned back in his chair and moved his stiff shoulders to get the muscles to relax. The door to his office opened and the twelve year old Reborn came in; even in his child like body he had the composure of an adult and the aura of a dangerous beast. His black eyes looked at the stack of paper work that had already been approved off and then to the rest of today's work. It didn't look like Tsuna would finish that within time.

His student looked like he hadn't slept in days. His suit shirt and even the vest he wore over it were wrinkled and Reborn really didn't want to see the state of the jacket.
"What happened to your tie?" the hitman wanted to know and Tsuna looked at him like he needed time to comprehend the question. Than he looked down at himself and sighed. "It wanted to strangle me, but I was able to defend myself and kill it." and the tie really looked more like a dead cat on the road than a proper tie. Normally Reborn would have reprimanded him about his appearance, but he let it slide for today, there were more important thing to worry about.

"How is Yamamoto coming around?" there really was no need fo an answer, Tsunas disgruntled face said it all.
"So bad huh?"
"I think we're overlooking something, but I just can't pin point it. Why isn't Hayato here when I need her brain for work?" a heavy sigh followed his statement.
"Just use your own brain for once, Dame-Tsuna." Reborn smirked at him.
"I do, but it's reaching its limits. I'm near a short-circuit. And I need a coffee, really bad." he leaned forward and reached for his phone, it was a good thing that he had a competent secretary who was able to make decent coffee. She was one of the few women in the Family and he himself had chosen her for this work. She was no fighter and couldn't use any flame, but she was good at handling office work and balancing his meetings with important people. His secretary was the one who filed away his work and sorted the stack regarding the importance of the matter. And she made good coffee, really good coffee.

That she was a beauty was just a little extra he enjoyed secretly. Whenever she walked down a road men would turn around to look at her. With one glance of her clear bright blue-green eyes and a flip of her long dark blue-black hair she made men fall in love. Hayato had been totally against her as his secretary, but he had assured his fiancée that there was no need to worry, because Hayato is still the most beautiful woman on earth.

It didn't take his secretary too long to come in with two cups of freshly brewed espresso, some files he had wanted, a glass of water and aspirin for him.

"Thanks Mary." Tsuna gave her a smile and handed over the work he had already finished, Yamamotos report included.
"If you need anything else just call me." she winked at him like the flirt she was, it made him blush a little, even if he loved Hayato; when a beauty flirted with him it affected him, he was a man after all. But he never will betray his beloved one. Mary Sue was a diligent worker, but sometimes she put a little too much effort to her clothes, it seemed like she wanted to impress him no matter what. Often enough her skirts were a little too short to be called decent and her neckline a little too deep for comfort. Some of his men and most of his male guests did appreciate the sight and her flirting ways. He had reprimanded her more than enough to dress more professional. She had argued that her clothes were professional and Hayato had said that she really looked like a pro, a pro prostitute. Since then those two glared at each other as soon as they crossed paths.
Tsuna than had decided to ignore it; he had more important matters to attend to.

Reborn looked after Mary as she exited the door and then turned to his former student turned boss.

"She has access to all files regarding Yamamotos case?"
"Yes."
"Does she know about the fake reports?"
"No they are handed to her like any other. Why are you asking?"
"I think you know why." Reborn drank his espresso and looked at Tsuna like he was expecting something. The boss took his aspirin and sighed, again. Of course he had looked all around for the mole, but it never had crossed his mind that his trusted secretary could be the one selling information to the betting ring. No; that was not true, he had considered it, but just as soon as the idea had come up he called himself paranoid and shook it off. But now that Reborn hinted at it he felt like a fool for not seeing it sooner.

Tsuna took out his smart phone and called Yamamoto over his private number, they needed to discuss their next steps to unmask Mary Sue as the mole. * It wasn't even lunch when Tsuna came across another disturbing report. This one was from Hibari; most likely written by Kusakabe. Like most of the time his Cloud did whatever he wanted and in his own way, reports were sparse and whenever he got one that was longer than three sentences it had to be important. This one he now held was a rather thick folder.

What he read didn't bode well with him.

He had heard rumours about a serial murderer, but he had shrugged it off, because it had nothing to do with him; the murders didn't occur in Vongola territory and solving crimes was still the job of the police. It seemed like Hibari had another opinion regarding that matter. He did his own investigation and even had gone out of his way to ask some hackers (Vongola pros) to get him all the info the police had obtained. Their investigation file had been added to Hibaris; with pictures and all. Tsuna couldn't believe that those things had been human before their gruesome deaths; was the thought as he stormed into the adorned bathroom and emptied his already empty stomach.
And the most disturbing thing was that just this morning a mutilated body had been found on their territory. Now they needed to take action, because it was their job to protect the people who paid them for it.

Soon the killer will regret ever defying the laws and going against the rules. Nobody and nothing was scarier than an angered Hibari on the hunt.
After he had successfully gotten rid of the foul taste in his mouth and regained his composure he approved of a thorough investigation with a side note to not add any pictures in the reports. He already heard Hibari saying: "Herbivore" and Reborn mocking him for being a sissy, but he couldn't care less, just because he was a Mafia boss didn't mean he had to be immune to those pictures of gore.

The next report he took wasn't a report, but a letter of complaint. It came from Lambos school, they were complaing about his laziness and that he never did his assigned homework on time. Lambo had written his own version of the things under the schools complain. He wrote that nothing of this was his fault. He just was too occupied with helping other people, especially the ladies, that he just didn't have any time to spare on stupid homework. And because of his excessive help of others, he didn't have any energy to spare for being attentive at lessons. The boy had even the nerve to add that he wouldn't take any scolding from him, because Tsuna hadn't been any better during his school years.

Tsuna scowled at the bold declaration, but then he smiled; because what Lambo had pointed out was nothing but the truth. During his time at school he had ditched, his grades had been lousy and his homework was forgotten in favour of playing his favourite games. Well that was before Reborn had come to teach him. Of course he still had had bad grades until he graduated from high school, his homework was done lousy and his attendance had its holes, but those had been the results of his Mafia training an not just his laziness.

But if he said so much to Lambo he was sure to get a look that indicated that this and that was completely the same, because Lambo helped those in need; which was the duty of the Vongola Family.

With a shrug of his shoulders Tsuna answered to the schools letter that he would harshly reprimand his younger brother for neglecting his education, but the truth was he couldn't care less, school was useless and as long as he himself had this opinion he couldn't scold Lambo to be more hard working.

That didn't mean that he wouldn't assign him some tutoring lessons with Reborn. Tsuna could be sadistic like that. And he knew rReborn will gladly accept the duty, torturing Lambo was his greatest hobby after all.

After that he held a thing in his hands that was written bold on bright yellow pages, it was extreme hurting his eyes and just one person could pull a stunt like that – Ryouhei. Tsuna tried to remember how often he had told his sun guardian tu use standard white paper and a computer for his written reports. Every time he had gotten the same answer; to do it like any other person wasn' extreme enough for an extreme man like him. So he received his Suns reports on yellow paper and handwritten by a huge chicken; well it looked like that. The words were big and bold and almost unreadable, like some animal had tried to mimic human writing. Tsuna wouldn't even be surprised if Kangaryuu wrote those reports for his master and he wouldn't put it pas Ryouhei for sharing his work with his box animal; the man was extreme like that.

And extreme was also his latest work; he had assigned himself to train the spineless little punks (who were the new lowest members of Vongola) into fine and extreme men. Tsuna had agreed that those delinquents needed some regime to learn the basic rules and manners of the member in his Family. But now that he read the report he wasn't sure if those young men will be able to survive the training. He was almost able to feel their soreness and exhaustion they got from just the so called warm-ups. Those poor fools most likely cursed the day when they had chosen to live the Mafia way of life within the Vongola Family. It was just their luck that Vongola was really into rules and best behaviour. They were a gentle and nice organization, which protected people. Vongola wasn't the kind of Famiglia that did whatever it wanted to do.

Vongola was like the keeper of justice within the Mafia world and as that it was needed to have righteous members at every post available.

But those bright yellow reports granted on Tsunas nerves big time. Ryouhei really needed to learn that a sentence isn't going to sound better with an "extreme" added within. Tsuna signed the report rather reluctant and put is aside.

Slowly he let his head slide onto the table in front of him, his eyes hurt and he closed the for a moment to grant them a little break.

The booming sound of an explosion startled him awake a few hours later. He sat up straight and winced as his back and neck snapped, sleeping on a desk wasn't healthy at all. He looked around in alarm and heard angry shouts in front of his office door. There was a high pitched shriek and someone threw his door open. His secretary fell trough it; flat on her nose. Hayato strode in after her, she glared at the woman on the floor. But then her gaze met his and a bright smile formed on her face.

"I'm home!" she said happily: "And I found this suspicious woman sniffing trough some important documents." Hayato held up the folder and waved with it. Surprise, surprise it was Yamamotos report.
"It is my job to sort trough those files before they are give to the boss." Mary Sue hissed as she stood up from her position on the floor.
"Oh? But I think taking pictures of those things isn't part of your job." Hayato glared at the secretary who suddenly turned as white as a sheet.
"I … I didn't do that!" Mary defended herself, but Tsuna didn't even need his intuition to see that she lied. But he played along.
"If that's the truth you wouldn't mind showing me your phone?" he asked with a nice smile on his lips.

With shaking hands she took something out off the inner pocket of her suit. But instead of her phone she held a small hand gun and had the nerve to point it at Hayatos head while she held on to her.

"I will leave this mansion and the town unharmed or this little bitch will have a hole in her cute head." Mary snarled and and pressed the gun more to Hayatos temple. Tsuna had to admit that he was impressed by that bold action. Hayato on the other hand looked like she was just annoyed.

"I wonder who can pull the trigger faster. You or Reborn behind you?" Tsuna asked her with a friendly smile. She blanked a little and tried to look behind herself. Using this little moment of distraction Hayato grabbed her hand, which still held the gun, moved one of her legs between Marys and showed Tsuna an impressive shoulder throw. He wondered when his fiancée had learned judo.

As soon as Mary fell the gun got off and the sound of a shot resonated trough the hallway. Hayato and Tsuna looked at each other in shock, because they hadn't expected the gun to misfire.

A red stain formed rapidly on his white dress shirt.
