Chapter 13-An unexpected event

Pauline sat at her desk, bored. It was Geography class with Mr Lakitu. She was sitting next to Goombella, who was paying close attention to what the teacher was saying and taking notes.

"What a swot,"Pauline thought, "Why is she there taking notes when she could be entertaining me?"

Pauline flicked Goombella's shoulder. Goombella turned to look at her. "What?"she asked angrilly.

"I'm bored,"Pauline moaned.

"Well I'm not,"said Goombella, "Go away Pauline."

Goombella went back to taking notes. Pauline tapped her arm.

"What now?!"said Goombella.

"I'm still bored,"Pauline moaned, again.

"Oh, stop acting like a spoilt three-year-old and leave me alone!"said Goombella furiously.

"Entertain me,"said Pauline.

"No,"said Goombella.

Goombella turned to take more notes. Pauline crumpled up some paper and threw it at Goombella's head. Unfortunately for Pauline, Mr. Lakitu noticed.

"Pauline, stop annoying your fellow students. Deten..."

The teacher was cut short by an announcement on the intercom. "

Greetings students of Shroom High. This is your pricipal, Mr. Toadsworth. The senior prom will be on in three weeks, the Saturday after you get of school for summer break. The junior and sophomore end-of-year parties will be on in two weeks on the Saturday, in seperate venues that you have chosen. The freshman dance will be on not this Saturday, but the next one. For freshmen who don't know, the freshman dance has been a tradition since the school was founded. It will take place in the Gym hall from seven o'clock until ten o'clock. The senior year will be supervising and you will NOT have to choose dance partners until the night. Girls are NOT allowed wear anything above the knees and are NOT allowed wear heels above three inches. Thank you."

The freshmen started talking excitedly about the prom but were quickly silenced by Mr. Lakitu.

"Silence!"Mr. Lakitu shouted,"You can talk at lunch!"

There wasn't a freshman who didn't talk about the dance at lunch break.

"I know what I'm going to wear!"said Pauline excitedly.

"What?!"said Natasha and Jolene in unison.

"I have a sparkly red dress at home and sparkly red high heels. I'm going to wear my sparkly red fake nails and my red lipstick. I have my outfit planned already and I am going to look gorgeous."

"I'm sure you are!"said Natasha, enviously, "You are so organised. I have no clue what I'm going to wear. It's a dilemma!"

"I kinda know what I'm going to wear,"said Jolene.

"Same,"said Maple.

"What are you going to wear?"said Pauline.

"I was thinking of wear my red dress that goes down to my knees and has white polka dots all over it and a big white bow in the middle with rubies in the middle of the bow with my white high heels with the red bow,"said Jolene, excitedly.

"Are you going to wear make up?"Pauline asked.

"Eh totally!"said Jolene,"I can't leave the house with out any makeup!"

"I'm going to dye my hair for the dance,"said Natasha.

"What colour this time?"said Maple, rolling her eyes.

Natasha normally dyed her hair a different colour every week.

"Dunno. Whatever matches my dress, I suppose,"said Natasha. "

What are you wearing, Maple,"Jolene asked.

"I'm going to wear my purple dress that has the purple and gold gems at the hem and at the neck and I'm going to wear my gold highheels,"said Maple.

"It's so stupid that you can't have anything above the knees!"said Pauline.

"And you can't have high heels over six inches!"said Maple.

"I would break the rules but I don't want to be thrown out of the disco!"said Pauline, "That would make me so unpopular."

They all sighed and ate their lunch.

Nearby, Rosalina, Daisy, Luma, Birdo, Mona and Goombella were talking about the dance.

"I don't know what to wear!"said Luma, sadly, "All my dresses don't fit me!"

"I need to get a new dress, too,"said Birdo, "Hey, let's go on a shopping trip to Coconut Mall!"

"Good idea!"said Mona, happily, "We can go tomorrow since tomorrow's Saturday!"

"Yeah, but the dance is tomorrow!"Rosalina exclaimed.

"No, it's the Saturday after that!"said Daisy, shaking her head. Rosalina was a very forgetful girl and she daydreams a lot.

"Oh, sorry. I forgot,"said Rosalina.

Everyone sighed and went back to eating their lunch.

Bowser was talking to his cronies Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, Bandy Andy, Goomba and Bullet Bill.

"Peach is going to be mine at this dance!"said Bowser, "Though I'll dance with Pauline too, they're both so hot. Who will you ask to dance?"

"I was thinking of Goombella,"said Goomba.

"Her? Hahaha!"Bowser laughed and the rest of the group except Goomba laughed, too. "

She's a nerd!"said Bullet Bill.

"I don't care,"said Goomba.

"Good look on getting popular then, mate,"said Bandy Andy, "I'm going to ask Eclair. She is hot."

"Yeah, but she gives me the creeps,"said Bowser, "But she is good looking...unlike Goombella."

Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, Bandy Andy and Bullet Bill chuckled. Goomba just ate his lunch furiously.

Peach went to Toadette's house after school for a sleepover. Peach and Toadette sat on Toadette's bed talking about the dance.

"I don't know what to wear!"said Peach.

"Me neither,"said Toadette,"I only have two dresses. The one I wore at the eighth grade leaving party and my white one that doesn't fit me."

"Hey!"said Peach, "We could go to Coconut Mall tomorrow!"

"Great idea, Peach!"said Toadette, "We'll go at twelve o'clock tomorrow!"

"Perfect,"said Peach, "I'll just text Mam to tell her I'm going."

Peach texted her mam while Toadette went downstairs to tell her mam. She came back up with strawberry smoothies and jam and creams.

"Thanks,"said Peach as she took her smoothie and a biscuit.

"So, can you go?"Toadette asked.

"Yeah,"said Peach, "Can you?" "Of course,"said Toadette,"Can't wait!"

There was silence. Peach's phone bleeped.

"I got a message,"said Peach. She unlocked her Iphone to see the Shroombook message. It said:

Hey Miss Misery.

You better not be going to the dance. If you steal my Mario, you are dead. Don't even think about embarrassing me or telling anyone about these messages, not even Toadette. If you do, you will be even more unpopular. Don't want that now, do you Peach?You are still blamed for that letter I wrote for you so don't make it worse for yourself.

Peach shivered and locked her phone.

"What's wrong?"asked Toadette.

"Nothing, I just won't be able to go shopping tomorrow,"

"What?"said Toadette, surprised, "Why?"

"Oh, I just..."said Peach.

"Peach, can I see your phone?"Toadette interuptted.

"Yeah, sure, but don't look at my messages,"said Peach handing her the phone.

Toadette opened the Shroombook app and looked at the messages. She was shocked by what she saw. She saw the message Peach got that day and about ten other messages.

Dear Peach,

You are so stupid and unpopular. If I were you, I'd just bury my own grave.

You are so lame at every thing. Seriously, just give up already.

Peach,

Roses are red, violets are blue, Mario is mine so it sucks to be you. Have a lovely Valentines day watching all the other freshmen having fun with their boyfriends!

Just because you have that stupid toad girl on your side does not mean you are now popular. Just reminding you.

Toadette scanned through all the horrible messages sent to Peach from Pauline. Toadette locked Peach's phone and gave it to her. There was silence.

"Peach, why didn't you tell me this?"Toadette asked.

"I didn't want to make things worse,"said Peach, hanging her head. Toadette hugged her. They stayed hugging for a while before pulling apart.

"Peach, I have an idea!"said Toadette,"To end all this."

"What is it?"said Peach curiously.

"You know the way they are making a slideshow at the dance?"

"Yeah,"

"Well, my sister, Toddles, you know, in the senior year, is making it. So we can write, like, put these text messages on the USB and give it to her to put on the slideshow!"

Peach's eyes lit up. They both started jumping up and down excitedly.

"You know, Toadette, that will probably work! It's perfect!"

They spent an hour putting the text messages and a few photos of themselves on the USB stick. Then they went to Toddle's room to give it to her. They knocked on the door.

"Come in!"said Toddles. Peach and Toadette went in.

"This is for the slideshow,"said Toadette,"Make sure it gets in the slideshow."

"Ok,"said Toddles, "Now leave."

They went back to Toadette's room.

"Yes!"said Peach, "It's over!"
