Chapter 13-Batman Does Gothby
It was a chilly, damp, and dreary autumn day at Mount Justice. The team had just returned from a long mission that had involved Queen Bee. The climate change from the warm dry desert heat to the cool rainy climate definitely affected the exhausted teenage heroes. One Boy Wonder suggested they go to a place called Gothby.
"What is a Gothby? Never heard of it" Conner inquired curiously.
"I haven't either" M'gann also added and smiled.
"You guys are missing out! Gothby is the best coffee franchise ever! They are all over Gotham" Robin grinned.
"Oh I know, I do love the Teddy Bear" Artemis replied then cleared her throat. "They just opened one in Star City" she added hastily.
"I am not one for coffee but it does sound intriguing" Kaldur said softly.
"They have a variety of drinks. Such as hot, frozen, and iced coffee Also they have hot chocolate, smoothies and tea lattes and food" Robin grinned.
"Did I hear food?" Wally inquired as he stretched.
"What is it with you and food besides the obvious?" Artemis muttered at the speedster.
"Arty you know why" Wally answered with a grin.
"So we are hanging out and having Gothby" Robin confirmed before Artemis could get another retort in.
About twenty minutes later, the team entered Gotham which compared to Happy Harbor, looked like Halloween had come early. Dark and dreary, the leaves of the trees had fallen off making the trees skeleton like. The buildings dirty and abandon looking.
"Dude, how can you live in a city like this all the time?" Conner inquired incredulously.
"You get use to it" Dick replied as they entered the coffee café.
"Oh this is nice" M'gann said admiringly as she glanced around the inside. The café had a large size lounge, a couple couches facing electric fireplace, a couple coffee tables and several round tables and chairs.
"This is sweet. Think we will see any college babes?" Wally inquired teasingly grinning as Artemis glared at the redhead.
"They would be way out of your league Wallace" Artemis replied smugly.
"Oh look Conner! They have superhero flavors and drinks too!" M'gann exclaimed excitedly.
"Eh nothing impressive" Conner replied with a shrug of his shoulders. "I wonder what the Superman latte taste like"
"Only one way to find out Supey" Robin said brightly.
"Welcome to Gothby! How can I help you today?" The teenage blonde inquired cheerfully as she eyed the boys.
"I'd like the Batman latte. Hot please" Robin ordered with a grin.
"One hot Batman latte" she ranged up his order then proceeded to Wally.
"Hmm everything looks so good. I'll try the Flash latte. Frozen" Wally told the girl and was taken care of.
"I will have the Martian Manhunter latte. Frozen please. It sounds wonderful and minty" M'gann ordered her drink.
"I'll take…the Superman latte and I will take it hot"Conner muttered and paid for his drink.
"I will take the Arrow latte frozen" Artemis then ordered after Conner.
"Kaldur, you should try coffee" Robin suggested and nudged the Atlantian playfully. Kaldur gave an amused smile and shook his head.
"Perhaps another time Robin. I hope you are not offended."
"Nah we'll get you there eventually" Robin replied cheerfully.
The others had already received their drinks and sat around the fireplace, Robin and Kaldur joining them.
"This is delicious!" M'gann sipped on her drink and giggled as Conner gulped his and grinned.
"I am feeling pretty Super right now"
"Since we are here, how about a round of Three Words?" Robin suggested with a wide grin.
"Sure, I don't have anything better to do" Artemis replied shrugging her shoulders.
"Count me in" Wally replied returning the grin.
"Definitely!" M'gann responded with a smile and Conner nodded.
"Sounds like an enjoyable way to spend this gloomy afternoon" Kaldur added.
"Then it's settled" Robin replied cheerfully.
"Who will be the theme this time?" Conner inquired.
"Hm good question" Robin rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I was thinking Batman"
"We already did him" Artemis pointed out as she sipped on her drink.
"True. We haven't done the Dynamic Duo" Robin suggested.
"He's got a point" Conner responded nonchalantly.
"We get to pick on Bats and Rob" Wally added and nudged his best friend.
"I like the idea" M'gann smiled brightly as the rest nodded.
"Let's get started then!"
"It was a" Robin started off.
"Dark gloomy night" M'gann added on.
"In Gotham. The" Artemis spoke.
Dynamic Duo were" Wally continued.
"Patrolling the city." Kaldur said with a smile.
"They had taken" Conner said gulping the last of his coffee.
"Down Killer Croc," Robin said sipping his Batman latte.
"Penguin, and Joker" M'gann added as she swirled her straw around.
"Batman and Robin" Artemis spoke and sipped her latte.
"Were in the" Wally added as he slurped the rest of his drink.
"Batmobile, cruising along" Kaldur continued as he stretched his legs.
"When Robin saw" Conner spoke and tossed his cup into the trash.
"An open Gothby."
"Batman! Let's go"
"To Gothby! Robin"
"Exclaimed excitedly. Batman"
"Gave the Boy"
"Wonder a look"
Robin:"What is a"
M'gann:"Gothby? Batman asked"
Artemis: It is a"
Wally: Batastic coffee" café."
Kaldur: "You would love"
Conner: The Batman Latte"
"Batman latte? Really?" Robin crackled and took another sip.
"I only drink" M'gann said with an amused giggle.
"Strong dark coffee" Artemis said with an attempted Batman voice, which caused the others to laugh.
"That is why" Wally continued with a grin looking at Artemis.
"They have a" Kaldur added with an amused smile.
"Batman latte" Robin" Conner went on draping an arm around M'gann's shoulders.
"Answered cheerfully. Ridiculous"
"Was Batman's reaction"
"Its baticious! It's"
"Strong and bitter"
"Just like you!" The team burst out laughing at this, Robin clutching his sides as Wally rolled off his seat. Conner and M'gann leaned against each other, as Artemis and Kaldur shook their heads in amusement.
"Batman would not be happy if he found out we are comparing him to coffee" Kaldur commented as he chuckled amusingly.
"It fits him perfectly though!" Wally replied as he returned to his seat.
"Is everyone all good? Let's continue" Robin grinned as the team calmed down.
"Batman gave Robin"
"A Bat-glare"
"Come on please"
"Batman? You never"
"Tried one! Robin"
"Gave the Dark"
"Knight the puppy"
"Eyes. Batman gave"
"In and turned"
"Into Gothby. The"
"Batmobile entered the"
"Drive thru. "I'd"
"like two..Batman"
"Lattes." Batman ordered"
"Is this Batman?"
"The employee asked" The team laughed once more.
"Can you imagine Batman pulling up to the drive thru window and actually doing that?" M'gann laughed.
"I can" Robin laughed holding his side as the others nodded their assent.
"Yes. I am."
"Oh! Please pull"
"Up to the"
"Window. Drinks are"
"On the house!"
"Thanks. Batman replied"
"And drove to"
"The drive thru"
"Window. They received"
"Their drinks and"
"Drove. Batman then "
"Took a sip"
"And blinked in"
"Surprise. "Well I"
"Hate to admit"
"this but this.."
"Is really Batastic"
The team erupted into laughter and smiled as they finished sipping down their drinks. Once done, the team left Gothby and headed back to the base. They all agreed that Gothby was a great way to spend a dreary day.
