(Your POV)

I stared Harley down through narrowed eyes, with Jeff standing behind me, shooting Harley apologetic glances only to stop every time I turned back to look at him. I have just about had it with all of the people who were betraying us, and it had hurt like a knife to the stomach when Jeff had told me that Riley may or may not have been conspiring against us. I didn't care who she was working for, if it was for my father, Gaea, Zeus, Hades, whatever. She had been my friend, or at least, I had thought she was my friend, and she betrayed that trust.

"Listen, hon," Harley began.

I just couldn't take it. Rage boiled my veins, and my eyes felt as if they were on fire. I didn't know whether I wanted to cry, scream, or punch something.

In the end, I took a much milder approach.

Before I could do anything, my hand went to slap Harley across the face.

She was gone before my open hand could clap with her left cheek.

"(Y/N)!" She shrieked, holding her hands out defensively in front of her, "are you gonna beat the shit outta me, or are you gonna listen?" Harley demanded, her big blue eyes searching mine.

I don't know what she was looking for, but she wasn't gonna find it with me.

Jeff laid a gentle hand on my shoulder, his stare just as menacing as mine, all of a sudden. Maybe he was going to try something, or maybe he was just trying to pass off as the tough referee during a bitch fight. Whatever he was doing, it was working. I retreated with a huff, my arms crossed over my chest, and my jaw set.

"You have one minute, Harley." I hissed through gritted teeth, "explain."

Harley couldn't have looked more relieved; her chest fell as she let out a deep breath, and collapsed onto the corner of the bed, her body a lot less tense than it was a couple of seconds ago. I could see it in her eyes, deep inside she had definitely wanted to cry, and it scared me to acknowledge that I was one-hundred percent fine with that.

I even found myself thinking that she deserved it.

"Look, Riley and I have been planning this for a while. It's a plan of ours, to put an end to all of this all at once." Harley sighed, kicking her foot up. "We never meant anyone any harm, (Y/N), you gotta believe me. Riley loves you two to death, and having to go about doing things behind your back is killing her."

I frowned at her, unyielding to her irrelevant sentiments. Granted I cared an awful lot about Riley, but now was not the time to review my feelings for her, especially not since there was no clear reason for not telling Jeff and I about their little plan.

"That tells us nothing about exactly who you and Riley are." Jeff pointed out, sitting on the solitary chair in the motel room.

Hers was small, and a little dirty. Harley's room permeated around the room, and it was making me feel more sick to my stomach than I already was.

"Well, I don't know exactly what Gaea told you, since you won't tell me, and I don't know why you won't–"

"Oh, don't go making yourself the victim, Harley," I argue, taking a step closer to her, Jeff sits up, as if he felt I were about to hurt her, or something, "you and Riley have told us virtually nothing."

"Whatever," Harley dismissed with a flick of her wrist, "point is, now I have to tell you what I know. I know that my name is Harley, and I am a reincarnation of the Fate of the Future, since I am the youngest. Riley is Fate of the Present, that's why she was able to show you when I had controlled pretty boy's mind over here."

"That leaves one Fate." I speak, starting to cool down.

"Our eldest sister, Bailey, is the Fate of the Past." Harley explained, looking around the room as if someone were listening. She all of a sudden stood, and leaned very close to Jeff and I, "I sense she may or may not be watching us as we speak. I do not know why she is working against us, or what she stands to gain from it, but she is, and until Riley and I find her, you cannot and must not believe a word anyone tells you. The person you met outside was not Hermes."

"You knew about that?" I demand.

"Darling, I'm fate of the future, I saw it happening before it actually went down."

"And you didn't think to warn us?" Jeff asked, his voice clearly wounded.

"It's not in my position to change the future. I leave that to whomsoever thinks they deserve the title of 'divine intervention.'" Harley explained, her tone defensive. She flipped her goldenrod hair over her shoulder, and examined–or at least pretended to–her nails.

"And how do we go about speaking to your sister?" I ask, rubbing my temples.

The beginnings of a headache danced along my skull, and no matter how hard I pinched the bridge of my nose, the headache insisted, testing its limits and moving to the back of my skull, a dull pounding beginning in on my brain.

"That's the thing–" Harley began, rubbing her arm.

"–Fates aren't summoned, they come and go at their own will." Riley finished from the doorway.

I'm not even surprised, and that stuns me more than anything, because even Harley looks surprised now.

"Riley?" Jeff frowns.

"I've been looking for Bailey since you and Jeff met, (Y/N). She's nowhere to be found." Riley sighed.

She looked more exhausted than ever. Beneath her big green eyes, dark black circles had begun to form, and she all of a sudden looked her age. In all actuality, Riley looked as if she might fall over at any given moment.

"Obviously she can be found since she appeared to me just last night." I retort, giving Riley a chance to sit down.

"Clearly she can," Riley spat, evidently irritated, "we just don't know where to look."

After that, it seemed like no one had anything else to say. We all just sat in deafening silence for the longest time–yes, deafening silence–for the longest time, and I found myself wondering if it meant anything to anyone but me. I looked to Jeff for help, as if he were a life ring and I was drowning. He couldn't offer much, other than an apologetic glance.

Then, one voice broke the silence, and it was no voice I could put a name or face to.

"Look no further, my loves"
