October 23rd, 2001

6:00 A.M.

The sun was beginning to rise behind Eric, but unlike the birds around him, his morning song was not a happy one. He had spent the better part of the past hour paving a trail in the grass around a picnic table. He felt angry at Wes for getting hurt, and he felt furious with himself because he couldn't stop it.
"After everything we've been through, I swear if you die from this, I'll kill you." Eric knew that he should be praying to any supernatural being that would listen, but all he felt like doing was cursing them.

Eric sat down onto the well-worn table that he had been walking around to calm down a bit, when he saw the light on his morpher was still blinking.

"Oh will you go away!"

Eric wanted to throw the morpher as far as he could, to get rid of any memory of the rangers that had left behind Wes. Well then again at least just one person in particular.

"Fine, we'll go look for whatever you are, so you stop the damn blinking."

By now the sun had risen enough to light the sky with a brilliant sunrise, and Eric wondered how something so beautiful could exist while his heart-felt so empty and cold.

-

Eric searched for the better part of the day, sectioning off areas, and searching more closely. With three grids left the light started blinking the quickest he had yet seen, and Eric mentally cursed himself for not heading here sooner. "Of course it's the damned clock tower."

The once mighty tower laid in ruins, while half of the tower was still standing, the upper portion that once served as the rangers living area, was in prices all around him.

Eric could see fragments of items from the rangers stay; charred clothing, cookware, and other items littered the immediate vicinity of the towers remains. "How the hell am supposed to find something in all of this garbage?" He looked down at his morpher, where the light had originally been blinking, a solid light had now replaced it.

"So that's the way it's going to be. No little arrow pointing my way; no voice telling me that whatever the hell I'm looking for is close by?" Eric looked around once more, and then started shifting through the rubble.

-

Mr. Collins got up from the chair next to Wes's bedside that he had placed in the room since Wes had gotten out of surgery, and went to talk to the doctor, to see about his son's condition one last time before he left the hospital.

The doctor simply reconfirmed what he had already said. Mr. Collins wanted to stay by his son's bedside, but he now had a new mission on his mind; finding a way to contact the other rangers, mainly Jen.

As soon as Mr. Collins left the hospital, he was on his phone calling some of Bio-Lab's brightest developers into the office extremely early. They had been sitting around his conference table for the past several hours, trying to think up some way to contact the future, and all he had gotten so far was that there was no possible way to do it, or the obvious plan of leaving a note for them a thousand years from now, and Mr. Collins was getting more and more annoyed with the men and women sitting around his table. He was about to force them to leave while he tried to collect his thoughts, when Eric virtually burst through the door.

-

Eric walked straight into the main doors of Bio-Lab, and straight up to the receptionist. "Where is Mr. Collins?" The young receptionist was caught off guard and started stuttering when she looked up at Eric."He- he- Mr. Collins is in a meeting right now, and has asked not to be disturbed."Eric immediately turned and started marching towards the elevator when the receptionist again said "Sir he has asked not to be disturbed! If you try to disturb him without an appointment I will have to call security!" As the elevator doors started to slide closed, Eric quickly retorted in an angry voice, "I'm the head of his security you dumbass!" The receptionist seemed to notice for the first time Eric's uniform he was wearing, and quickly sat back down in her chair; clearly blushing from her mistake.

Eric keyed the top floor where the conference room was, and began his assent. He looked at one of the elevator's side mirrors, and noticed his appearance for the first time; "Damn I need a shower." He was utterly disheveled. His uniform was in dirty and torn in some places, and both his hands and face were covered in dirt.
The doors slid open to reveal a short walkway, Eric quickly walked across the upper floor and somewhat violently burst in without knocking.

The first thing Eric noticed was that this wasn't a standard board meeting, there was eggheads everywhere. People from engineering, and from research and development, were literally shoved into the room. Eric looked over everyone and with a deadly serious face said two words.

"Get Out."

Some of the people started to protest, as did Mr. Collins until he noticed what was in Eric's hand. There was a medium sized yellow case. Mr. Collins caught the small emblem on the side of the case, and immediately knew who it belonged to.

"Will what are you waiting for like the man said, Out!"

The conference room was quickly cleared of the remaining people, and Eric closed the door behind him, and flipped the lock on the door.
"Mr. Collins I think I have an answer for you." Eric cleared a spot on the table, and laid the yellow container onto it.

Eric turned to the older man, and said; "however, there is a problem." Mr. Collins face fell into the one Eric knew well, it was all business now, and not the hopeful one he had before.

"Mr. Collins this is obviously something left behind by the rangers, and it was intentional." Eric gripped the locks on the case, and slowly opened the case, inside appeared two small metal sticks, and a control base with buttons. As well as a note.

The note was very simple and to the point.

Wes this is a communication device so we can speak to each other when we leave. To activate it, the device has to scan your eyes. It cannot be activated otherwise. -Trip

Mr. Collins turned to Eric with a blank stare after reading the note. "So where do we go from here?" Eric continued to look at the device on the table as he spoke.
"We hope Wes wakes up."
