I sighed and closed my eyes in frustration as Izzy spit her food out at me, giggling and showing me her gums. Obviously amused by my annoyance.

"Derek!" I hollered. Between my daughters fussing and the blaring tv, I was positively done with this day.

"Yeah?" He answered, walking through the kitchen doorway. He raised his eyebrows and turned around as he saw what was happening. I glared at him.

"Uh uh. Your turn."

He turned around and walked towards me, a sweet smile on his face. "Chlo, you're so much better at this than I am," he wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "Besides, she likes it better when you feed her."

I shrugged his arm off and pursed my lips. "Nope. I've done it the last 3 times. I'm hungry, exhausted, and tired of doing everything on my own."

"You're right. I'm sorry."

I rolled my eyes at his sour attempt at an apology and went to check the mail on the counter. Bill, bill, magazine. I stopped and raised an eyebrow as I came across a letter, addressed to Derek and I.

"What's this?" I asked while holding up the letter. He turned to look at it, spoon in hand while Izzy easily took the contents into her mouth. Derek smiled and I held back a glare. Of course she doesn't have problem with him feeding her.

"I don't know. I haven't had a chance to go through the mail."

"Too busy doing nothing?"

He smiled sheepishly. "Yeah."

I rolled my eyes as I opened it. "It's from the Pack."

"Really? What's it say?"

"It's from Hunter. He wants to meet up and talk."

Derek stood up and took the paper from my hands. "But a letter? Why didn't he just call?"

I shrugged my shoulders ."I don't know."

"I'll call him. Have you heard anything about the vile?"

"No" I replied, irriated. "Mason won't tell me anything. All he says is that Mrs. Davidoff has it, and that it's dangerous. But she seemed ashamed and embarrassed with Davidoff's work. Why would she involve herself?"

Derek shrugged. "Maybe it was an act. Or what she has planned is even more evil than Davidoff, and she's embarrassed because he was slacking."

I sighed and shook my head at the possibilty. What's worse than taking a group of supernatural teeens, convincing them that they're crazy, altering their genes, and tracking them down in an attempt to murder them? I was surprised when I'd found out he was even married. Maybe they got married cause she was just as crazy as him. Whatever the reason, I was told that she was dangerous. It wasn't a far-off assumption, considering her husband was a nightmare. But she was also very suspicious when I was at her house.

Derek's voice interrupted my reverie. "What are you thinking about?"

"What if you're right?"

Derek smiled. "We can handle it. We've got our powers."

I shook my head. "Not anymore, Derek. And yes, we have our powers, but they're fading. And we all have kids now. Something to threaten us with..."

I strared at my daughter, her dark brown hair in curly ringlets around her slim pale face. She was smiling, her bright blue eyes watching curiously as she twirled her fork around in her hand. The thought of something happening to her killed me. My eyes shifted to Derek, clad in a tight black long sleeve and blue jeans. His dark hair made his green eyes look bright, eyes I'd gotten lost in too many times to keep track. I couldn't bear losing him, I couldn't een stand thinking about it.

"I won't risk my family." I said firmly.

He shrugged and leaned against the counter. "You may not have to. We don't even know if we're in any real danger. If we are, we have our family. And the Pack will protect us too."

I thought about what he said and decided he was right. "You need to call Hunter."

I left him to continue feeding Izzy and went to call Tori.

"Derek's right, Chloe. We don't know if we're in danger, and we'll be protected if we are. Don't worry."

"How could I? What if she comes for me, since I'm the one that went to her house? What if she gets Izzy, or... Derek-"

"Derek can defend himself, and he'll definitely protect Izzy. Everything will be okay."

But what if everything wasn't going to be okay? Disaster follows our family everywhere. I know I needed to not stress and worry about it. After all, Derek and Tori were right. We are protected. But is that what she wants, for us to let our guard down and attack? Nothing was deemed impossible anymore, we've seen every thing. Out of all the questions that were running through my head, I couldn't let the worse one go. If it came down to an attack, would I save Derek, my soulmate and the love of my life; or Izzy, my daughter? I hated not knowing what was going to happen.

As if the universe was listening, I received news that could have been the best (and worse) thing I'd ever heard.

Mason appeared, a look of fear on his lifeless face. "I heard Anna and her friend talking. They're planning something, and it's nothing good."

I straightened up eagerly. "What did they say?"

"I only caught the end of it. Something along the lines of 'You took my family, now I'm taking yours."

I felt faint. "Who was it directed at?"

Mason looked down and swallowed. "I'm so sorry, Chloe.."

I took a deep, shaky breath and stood up to get dressed.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm going after her." I replied, putting on my shoes.

"But she's dangerous!"

I turned to him. "I won't let her hurt my family." I turned and yelled toward the kitchen. "Derek, Izzy. I love you!" I wrenched the door open and slammed it shut after my, not waiting for their response.

It was true; I wouldn't let her hurt my family. Even if it meant hurting myself.
