Chapter Thirteen- That's Weird

Hey look, another chapter. What are the odds?

I do not own Doctor Who

Jake stared at Mickey with an expression of disbelief on his face. "What, you and me? In a van?"

"Nothing wrong with a van. I once saved the universe with a big yellow truck." Mickey said, smiling fondly at the memory.

He shifted the van into forward. The engine roared into life. Without really knowing why, the two of them were flooded with a sense of determination. They had fought the Cybermen, they had won and they were ready to do it again. For the first time in a long time, Mickey felt a sense of purpose. He was needed here in this world. A world that echoed his own in so many ways. As he and Jake began to drive away into the night, he thought about his Gran. Rickey's gran. He would make this world safe for her no matter what it took.

He glanced at Jake out of the corner of his eye. He noticed and smiled at Mickey. Jake trusted him, he could see it in his eyes.

'Looks like I have a companion now,' Mickey thought to himself.

He wasn't the tin dog anymore and he'd make sure that Jake never felt like one.

"To Paris then."

"To Paris."

"Merp."

Mickey hit the brakes and the vehicle slid to a halt. His heart raced as he tried to convince himself that he hadn't just heard, what he thought he just heard. There was no way, it was impossible. "What the hell was that?" Jake asked, his voice high and panicky. "Did you hear that?"

"Yeah, yeah I heard it," Mickey said, trying to keep calm. So Jake had heard it too. "I know it."

"Merp. Merp. Merp. Merp." said the disembodied penguin, followed by a high pitched chirpy noise.

Jake turned to him with wide eyes. "What is it?"

"It's a penguin," Mickey replied gravely. "A penguin from my universe. It has the power to travel through space and time. It can fell a Timelord in a single head-butt. It can possess a computer, steal toast and apparently," He looked around the van nervously, even going so far as to check inside the glovebox to make sure the insane bird wasn't there. "It can project its voice into other universes."

"…You're universe is weird."

"I know, Jake. I know."
