Naru's P.O.V.
After the events that have accord the previous day, SPR knew it was time to go back home. Oliver made his way up to Annalee who just returned home early this morning. He explained to the young woman everything leaving out the few incidents like Alice. Alice, the night he found out on the lawn; unconscious with blood on her face.
The memory of that night still haunted him; she is ok now Oliver. She is back on her feet and still being her hyper active self. Gene's words comforted him a bit but still. That image of her lying on the ground motionless and silent still hasn't left him. It frightened him; she wasn't smiling or glaring at him like she usually does or even picking on him. In one moment she vanished, like that night with Mai. The night Mai vanished it really scared him; he was concerned for Lin's well being as well. Now do you understand what Lin felt? He cares about Mai quite a bit. With Alice it's almost the same thing. Oliver couldn't help but feel confuse by Gene's words. Did he feel something more for the girl? He did notice that he has gotten close to the girl in a short amount of time but he couldn't help it.
There was something about her; "Alright were done!" He turned around and saw Mai close the car door. "Let's go" he turned back to Annalee and bid her goodbye. The cellar was now closed off and was so going to be filled up with concrete to forget about the past. The front door closed behind him; he walked up to the van and saw Alice. Her long dark her flowing as she moved; he reached out and grabbed her arm.
She turned around "what's up Naru?" I couldn't help but notice a bruise forming around her neck. It's not to bad Noll, she is all right and alive remember that. He reached out slowly; his fingers lightly touched her collarbone then went up to her neck. "You alright? Does it hurt?" I held back a smirk as her cheeks slightly redden "I-I'm alright, my throat hurts a little."
I wish I could make the pain go away even if it's small. "Don't be an idiot next time and listen." She rolled her eyes; her signature glare appeared on her face. The sun was high making her eyes golden eyes glow violently. She then smiled "I'm not an idiot I care too much!" her face turned red. At that moment I knew she didn't mean to say that out loud. Naru's dark eyes stared into hers challenging the girl. "Care too much?" She was left speechless; looks like I won.
He removed his hand from her neck "Just get in the van" she just shook her and head hopped into the van. Maybe Gene is right; maybe she is getting to me. For some reason the idea does not bother me one bit. When gene I felt like I died with him. Not only that but she is one woman I can truly say is growing on me.
Alice's POV:
I found myself slowly walking through tall grass; the sky was dark and it began to rain. I have been having this dream quite often lately. The only difference was this time I was walking through grass instead just emerging from dark water gasping for air. The sky roared and the rain began to fall down even harder. I heard an engine roar; I quickly turned around. Headlights were speeding down my direction; I closed my eyes waiting for the impact.
But instead of the mysterious vehicle hitting me I felt someone push into me. I felt my body fall backwards. Instead of hitting the soft green grass I hit icy water. I opened my eyes to see a blurred figure; I reached out. The figure didn't do anything but watched sink. I tried to move by arms, but couldn't. I felt fear strike my heart; "oh my god someone please, help me." The figure slowly began to fade away as I sink further and further down.
I screamed, causing the water to ripple. "Alice! Hey Alice" my eyes flew open. I shot out of bed, which caused me to fall off to the side landing on the ground with a loud thump. Tears slowly crept down the young girls face. "Oh my go what was that? Why did I dream such an awful thing?" Gene suddenly appeared in front of the girl, "I'm sorry that you had to see that." She sat up on her knees and quickly wiped the tears away.
"What was that? That felt so real, I don't have Mai's gift do I?" The boy shook his head, "No you don't. The dream you had wasn't about the next case. It was the past and the past that you saw was my death." The young woman in front of him broke down crying. He kneeled in front of her and placed a hand on her head. She looked up her golden orbs filled with tears "Gene I'm so sorry, how can anyone do that to you!" The boy gave her a gentle smile but his smile held some pain. "Its ok Alice, please don't cry. What would Naru say if he saw you like this?" The angel face girl looked up and frowned at the boy "He can go kiss a sea monkey for all I care right now!" Gene broke out in laughter "A sea monkey? Out of all things?" The girl's cheeks turned a slight red; she then wiped her face, her eyes puffy from the crying.
"Gene quit being mean!" Gene stopped laughing; he leaned in and placed a kiss on her forehead. "Don't cry, I don't want anyone crying for me anymore. I am sorry you had to see that, but please don't cry." The girl nodded she looked at the clock and it was already 7am. She let out a heavy sigh "thank goodness I don't work today." The girl slowly stood up, as she stood her cell phone rang.
"Wonder who that could be?" Alice quickly picked up her cell and answered "Hello?" the voice on the other end of the line surprised her "Alice, is there anyways you can by the office today? I remember you had to discuss something with me and told me to wait after the case."
'It's Naru! Oh boy, speak of the devil. The dream happens then he calls what are the bloody odds!' "Um yea I do remember that, is that why you want me to come in?" "Yes, that would be great if you can come in today." I practically felt my heart stop, "Sure. I will stop by today, when do you want me to come in?"
"Come in at 7:30" I looked at the clock and saw it was already to 7:10. "Ok, I will see you soon" he then hung up. "Gene What the HELL am I going to DO?"
Alice dug through her closet and found her caviar style black dress that reached mid thigh with anchor design on the front. She threw on her black knee high socks and black converse on. The rushed to the restroom with Gene sitting on the bed watching her run back and forth around the room. She did simple make up such as eyeliner and mascara; her hair was quickly done in a fishtail braid. "You are going to be late Alice." The girl rolled her eyes "hey he did this slightly out of nowhere."
I then grabbed my bag and rushed out the door and began to hall my way over to the office. One the way over I couldn't help but think what or how am I going to explain to him about Gene? "Don't worry I will help you along the way." Hearing Gene say that somewhat helped with my nerves but still. This was his brother, who had died. This is something delicate; thanks Gene I really going to need it.
GHOST HUNT_
The young woman made it to the office; she stood outside the door with nerves eating away at her. I hope he doesn't think I'm crazy. The boy in her mind snorted yea, its not like he deals with crazy things like the paranormal. Don't worry just breathe I will be there right with you. She let out a deep breath and nodded "Alright lets do this." She opened the door to see Mai at her desk she looks a little under the weather. Her eyes had dark circles and her hair was a little messy. "Hey Alice, what are you doing here?" I closed the door behind me "Naru wanted to talk to me, are you ok?" She placed her hand over her mouth and closed her eyes. "Mai? Are you going to be sick?" she slowly opened her eyes and said "I think I ate something bad." Alice walked over and placed her hand on her forehead "you don't have a fever. Maybe you should go see a doctor or go home and rest."
Mai shook her head "I will be fine" the next Alice knew Mai stood up and rushed past her. Alice followed to see the bathroom door slammed shut. Alice could hear Mai gagging on the other side of the door, "Alice don't worry I got it from here." Alice turned to see Lin "Oh um ok" he then said "Naru wishes to see you as well."
Alice nodded and walked pass the tall Chinese man; she stood in front of the office door. With her heart pounding against her chest she opened the door. "Hey" he looked from his book and said, "Sit down." He placed the book down and looked into her eyes with a serious look. Naru couldn't help but notice the young woman was beautiful. Not only was she beautiful even with her hair slightly disheveled; she looked very nervous. The fact that she was nervous worried him; Alice was a strong and a straightforward person and isn't afraid to speak her mind.
"Remember the day I bumped into you? The dark water vision?" His eyes held not emotion which caused Alice nerves to spike. "W-well it happened again and it has been happening for while now. Well not too long" Naru let out a sigh "Out with it." His attitude caused Alice to go from nervous to flustered "Hey this isn't easy ok!" She looked away and her gaze went from him to the floor. He couldn't help but feel frustrated this isn't like her. She does time from time have hard time to speak her mind, but this is different. "How about you show me?" Her head shot up and her eyes slightly widen at his words. Her golden eyes held a certain emotion, was it worry? No it held fear, like a deer in headlights.
"I don't know, I mean I can do it with Mai because she had a sixth sense. I don't know if I can-" Naru then said "just do it, it will work." Gene the said "do it, trust me." Naru felt a slight chill travel down his spine; he felt a familiar presence but shook his head and quickly returned his attention to the woman in front of him. "Since you are having a hard time explain yourself I think that might be the best option." A glimmer of sadness shined in the girl's eyes "I guess that might be the best option. Naru stood up and walked around his desk and grabbed the chair next to her. They redirected their chairs so when the sat they were sitting across from each other.
Their knees barely touching; she let out a deep breath. Alice closed her eyes and gently touched his the sides of his head. She opened her eyes and said, "May I?" He nodded and she pulled his head towards her, she placed her forehead against his. Naru couldn't help but feel confused. Usually he wouldn't agree with this sort of contact but for some reason he felt at ease. He didn't feel forced or even resented this close interaction with Alice. As she closed her eyes and Naru couldn't help but notice tears started to build up in her eyes.
He felt his body react without his command and cupped her face in his hands. The next thing he knew he felt the pull and was no longer in his office but Alice's mind. He saw small glimmer of the girls. The small girl was smiling as she ran through tall green grass with a woman who liked like an older version of Alice behind her.
The woman was beautiful "Alice wait up!" the image changed to something dark. Men in white coats held her down on a cold table with wires attached to her smooth white skin "Stop it! Mommy, please tell them to go away!" A tall man in a suit stood watching "its for your own good. Your mother is getting help as well." Alice's gold eyes held fear and pain; Naru couldn't help but feel sick. The imaged changed to now; he was now accessing the recent memories. He saw the young woman working in his office. She then said, "Wait what do you mean you visited me last night? Who are you? You are not some spirit taking Naru's shape or something?" Naru's heart dropped as soon as he heard the voice " But you're right; I am not Naru. I do recall him telling you he had a brother." Past Alice stumbled her way over to a chair "N-no this is—you're his brother?" Naru couldn't believe what he just saw and heard. "She can see him? Why is he in her head?"The image changed and I saw her dreams. She fell into dark cold water. She looked up to see a blur figure watching her sink. She tried to move but couldn't; she screamed only causing the water to ripple.
Once again the image changed and she was sitting on her bed with Gene in front of her "What was that? What did I just see?" Gene then said, "I'm sorry you had to see that, what you just saw was my death." She began to cry "how awful, I cant believe that happened to you Gene I'm so sorry." Naru instantly broke the connection. He stood up to quickly, which caused the room around him to spin. Alice fell back into her seat. Her nose began to bleed "Alice, wake up Alice."
You idiot scientist! What in the world were you thinking to pull out? You caused a strain! Naru quickly grabbed a tissue from his desk and placed it to her nose. Why didn't you tell me you were linked to her Gene! Gene then said "How am I going to explain to you that I linked to Alice!? I didn't do it on purpose! The day she bumped into you I linked somehow.Naru wanted to feel angry at the girl for not telling him, but for some reason he couldn't. "Don't blame her, I told her not to tell you and she didn't even know how to approach this! Its my fault not her she was very scared." Naru then said, "if I knew sooner I could have gotten some information or more clues to find you GENE." Gene began to feel angry "its not always business Oliver she was putting your feelings in consideration. Imagine, if she just came up to you randomly and goes 'hi your dead twin is linked to me and I keep seeing his death and I can talk to him!"
Naru slightly relaxed "you have a point, but still it would have been great to know Gene!" Alice's began to stir; she slowly opened her eyes to see Naru was holding her head up with a tissue to her nose. "I'm sorry" Naru then shook his head "enough" she flinched at his harsh voice.
She took the tissue and held it to her nose while Naru stepped away from the girl.
"it's fine," Alice couldn't help but feel guilty "I didn't know how to approach this Naru." He then turned around and said, "at first did you think it was me?" she froze at his words "I-I did but for some reason I felt something off. I thought I dreamt of you the first time but in my heart I knew it wasn't you. Gene was more well not a big jerk." Naru couldn't help but feel surprised at her answer. Usually most people especially the opposite sex would mix him up with his brother.
"I see" he the sat across from her again and looked in her eyes. Surprisingly she didn't look away "will you help me locate my brother Alice?" Her eyes slightly widen "y-you want me to help?" Naru let out a heavy sigh "I am not going to repeat myself." Alice threw the tissue away in a nearby trashcan. An angry look appeared on her face "You don't have to be a jerk, I will help you." Naru couldn't help but feel relaxed "I need you to keep this between you and me Alice." The girl nodded and said "No problem" he then said "I have something you tell you too but that's for another time." Alice couldn't help but feel lost what does he have to tell me? Why can't he tell me now I mean after all that's happened. He then said, "a lots happened today" she couldn't argue with him there.
Alice stood up slowly; the strain of her connecting with Naru caused her legs to wobble and nearly fall over. She closed her eyes waiting for impact; but it never came. She felt something warm pressed against her body. She opened her eyes and noticed Naru caught her and she was pressed against him.
His eyes locked with hers; neither of them locked away. Naru at that moment couldn't help once again feel confused once again. He enjoyed the close contact with Alice; he enjoyed her straightforward and strong attitude. He couldn't help but felt his heart race when she entered the room. When he riled her up he couldn't help but smile or smirk at her reaction. When that man in their first case couldn't keep his eyes off her it angered him. That's when it hit him; he liked the girl. More than just an assistant and coworker, he liked this girl. He slowly reached up and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. He slowly began to lean into the girl; she didn't pull away or resist.
She doesn't know who you really are.
He felt himself freeze; he cleared his throat and slowly pulled away. Alice couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed. "I need to talk to you about something in private. She then said "Alright where at?" he then said "your place, tonight." Her cheeks turned slightly red and Naru couldn't help but smirk at her reaction "alright later today then, I guess I will see you later." He released his tight grip on her and she quickly walked to the door. She turned around and smiled at Naru; "later." She then vanished, Naru couldn't help but think; if he is willing to tell her that he is the actually Oliver Davis then he truly liked this girl.
OMG this took me forever and I stayed up late for this little number I am tired and I hope you enjoyed sorry for grammer error and stuff but I had to rush this out since I am working quite a bit and once again I am moving so forgive me guys. Have a good night ta ta for now!
