"Everyone always says it and it wasn't until now that I get it…" Itachi smiled and wrapped his arms around Sasuke's waist before rested his head on her shoulder and waiting for her to continue. "Life is constantly changing… and when everything seems dark there will always be one ray of light to guide you." Itachi simply smiled and together they stood in a peaceful silence.

Chapter 13

X- 2 weeks later -X

A loud laugh carried through the trees and up the path to the gates. Sai looked over at Lee, the two were on guard duty today and the body less laugh confused them and put them on edge, before either could ask what that was a black and blue figure landed in front of them followed closely by another.

"Yea, I finally beat you!" Sai raised an eyebrow as Sasuke practically beamed and danced around Itachi.

"No I let you win." Sasuke gasped and spun to look at the taller raven.

"Don't lie." Itachi smiled and grabbed Sasuke making her squeal before she quickly shoved him and ran through the gates. Sai and Lee watched her go before turning to see Itachi still standing in front of them, smile gone.

"Did you need something Uchiha-sama?" Itachi glanced around them before looking the other shinobi in the eye.

"Has anything happened while we were gone?" Sai raised an eyebrow.

"Regarding what?" Itachi frowned.

"Naruto… has he been causing problems?" Lee gasped.

"Oh that is right you have not heard. Naruto-kun has been sent out on a 4 year long training mission." Itachi raised an eyebrow in surprise but nodded before continuing on his way into the village.

"Thank you." Before they had a chance to reply Itachi was gone.

X-Uchiha residence-X

When Itachi reached the Uchiha section he didn't have to look far to find Sasuke, She had been stopped by a few of the younger children and was looking worried. When he got closer he heard what was going on.

"You have to help Otouto!" Sasuke kneeled down so she was closer to their height.

"Calm down Tina-chan and explain what happened." The small girl that was in between the other two took a deep breath.

"We-we were playing out in the field and-and-and Otouto got hurt." Sasuke sent a quick glance back to Itachi, who nodded and quickly headed toward the training fields. Once he was gone Sasuke gave the worried children a calm smile.

"Don't worry we're helping him but where are your parents?" the girl immediately dropped her gaze to the ground and nervously played with the dirt under her shoes. When she didn't answer Sasuke frowned. "Tina…" the girl gasped and quickly looked back up at Sasuke.

"I'm sorry Sasuke-sama I didn't mean to!" Sasuke looked at Tina with an expectant expression. "Oka-san told us to stay in the yard… but we saw a bird and followed it into the fields…" Sasuke sighed but stood up and held out her hand to the children.

"Come on." The girl was the first to take Sasuke's hand and the two others soon after. Sasuke inwardly frowned at their careless actions but smiled and led them down the street too her house. As she approached the gate Itachi appeared in front of her and opened it, allowing her and the children inside. The kids gasped staring around the yard. They had seen it plenty of times but never from this side of the fence. Sasuke smiled at their amazement and placed them on the grass before looking at Itachi.

"Go ahead, once you're done I'll get their mother." Sasuke gave him a look before glancing back at the kids and going inside. Once she was gone Tina looked up at Itachi was pure awe.

"Uchiha-sama will my Otouto be alright?" Itachi raised an eyebrow as he looked at the girl.

"Why are you worried? You led him and your friends out into the training fields without your mother." The girl immediately dropped her gaze to her lap.

"I did-dn't mean for h-im to get hurt." Her voice was cracking as she started to cry. Itachi inwardly sighed in annoyance but took pity on the girl.

"It could have been a lot worse… you're lucky no one was training." Tina continued to cry and Itachi inwardly frowned but before he could freak out completely Sasuke returned with a young boy in her arms. He had a small bandage on the side of his head but was smiling and happily talking to Sasuke, who laughed and nodded.

"Oh really?"

"Yeah! It was huge and I almost didn't get away!" Sasuke laughed and placed the boy on the ground with the others.

"Well I'm glad you did." The boy giggled as Sasuke ruffled his hair but stopped when a loud voice shouted from down the street.

"Uchiha-sama! I'm so glad you're back!" Itachi looked the woman over.

"Did something happen?" The woman nodded.

"Some of the chil-"

"Oka-san!" the woman spun around and gasped when the small boy ran into her legs with a big smile on his lips. "We had so much fun!" the woman swept the boy into her arms relief evident in her actions.

"Oh thank Kami you found them, I was making lunch and they disappeared." Sasuke smiled and herded the other children toward her.

"Don't worry about it, I'd just suggest next time keeping them inside while you cook." The woman smiled back and nodded.

"I will and thank you again for finding them." Sasuke watched them head back down the street until they were out of hearing range and the woman looked down at Tina. They didn't have to hear them to know the mother was scolding her daughter. Itachi sighed once they were out of sight and Sasuke took his hand before leading him inside.

"What's the matter?" Itachi slumped onto the couch in a very ungraceful way and rubbed his eyes.

"Kids…" Sasuke smiled and sat down next to him.

"You were fine." Itachi frowned and looked over at the teen.

"No I wasn't… I had no idea what to do and… I made Tina-chan cry." Sasuke's smile softened and she nestled into the older raven's side.

"Don't worry you have a while before you'll have to be a father… and it'll be different when they are yours." Itachi gave her a small smile and wrapped an arm around Sasuke's waist before leaning back against the couch.

"You're right I guess… wait what?" Sasuke giggled and looked up to meet Itachi's eyes.

"Well to be more specific you have about eight months to get ready." Itachi's eyes widened and he quickly sat up.

"Sasuke?" the raven giggled again and nodded.

"I'm pregnant." Itachi immediately stood up and pulled her up with him.

"How can you know already?" Sasuke smiled.

"Kyuubi-san told me… he's watching and making sure nothing happens." Itachi's eyes softened and he pulled Sasuke into a tight hug laying multiple butterfly kisses all over her face. "I take it you're happy." Itachi smiled and looked her directly in the eyes.

"Of course I'm happy." He kissed her again and pressed his hand lightly against her currently flat stomach. "Any children that you can give me will make me happy." Sasuke smiled while gently pulled the shocked raven back onto the couch.

"We're finally starting a family." Itachi nodded and numbly rubbed Sasuke's stomach again but the teen sighed placing her hand on top of his. "Can I please continue doing missions?" Itachi's eyes narrowed and he immediately shook his head.

"No, if you are pregnant I don't want you going on missions." Sasuke sighed but looked up at Itachi with serious eyes.

"Itachi-kun… I will not just sit here and do nothing." Itachi looked ready to fight but she quickly continued. "I promise I will only continue mission while I am physically able… once I start showing I'll stay within the village." Itachi looked Sasuke in the eye and saw that she wasn't going to back down.

"Sasuke-chan… I don't want anything to happen to you or our children… please be careful. I know I can't tell you what to do." Sasuke sighed and lightly kissed the worried raven.

"I will… I just can't sit here and do nothing." Itachi hesitated but nodded.

"Alright, but the moment I see you having trouble that's it you're staying within the village." Sasuke nodded and resettled into Itachi's side.

"Thank you Itachi-kun... and don't worry I'll tell you the moment anything happens." Itachi sighed but let his worry slip away as he continued to gently rub Sasuke's stomach.

X- That night (10 o'clock) -X

Itachi stood on the front porch, looking down the streets of the Uchiha section with a blank expression. The lanterns were still lit but no one was awake at this hour and a chilly winter breeze blew down the street rustling the leaves of the trees.

"So I take it you heard?" Itachi drew his gaze away from the streets and turned it to the tall blond beside him.

"Yes… Sasuke-chan hasn't." Minato nodded.

"I'll tell her tomorrow… are you two ready for some missions?" Itachi hesitated but nodded. Minato smiled and clapped him on the shoulder. "Excellent come see me tomorrow I have something the two of you can do." Itachi nodded again and watched as the Hokage disappeared down the street before turning and heading back inside.

When he walked into their bedroom he saw Sasuke sleeping as he had left her. He didn't make a sound as he got back into bed and pulled Sasuke to him before closing his eyes.

"We have a mission tomorrow don't we?" Itachi smiled but kept his eyes closed.

"Hm." Sasuke smiled back as she buried face into Itachi chest and sighed before returning to sleep.

X- 6 o'clock -X

Sasuke's eyes fluttered open just as the clock hit six and she smiled before closing her eyes again and placing her head back on Itachi's chest.

"Feeling lazy today Kit?"

'Yeah… in a few months we won't have this time to ourselves.' The fox chuckled and Sasuke could picture the fox nodding its furry head.

"Ah yes but you wouldn't give it up for the world." Sasuke silently giggled.

'So can you tell me whether it's a boy or girl?'

"Not yet Kit, give it another month." Sasuke's smile softened as she opened her eyes again.

'I can't wait… do you think Itachi wants a boy or girl?' she mentally saw the fox shrug as it tilted its head.

"I'm not sure Kit but you can always ask him." Sasuke mentally sighed and slowly got up.

'You're so helpful Kyuubi-san.' All she got as a reply was a deep chuckle but as she made to get off the bed a hand grabbed hers almost making her jump.

"Where do you think you're going?" Sasuke smiled and leaned back down so she could see her husband's face, even though his eyes were still closed.

"We have to go see Minato-san and I wanted breakfast before we had to leave but if you don't want me to eat I can always stay here." Itachi cracked open one eye and looked up at Sasuke only to see a bright smile and joking eyes. With a sigh Itachi sat up and glanced at the clock.

"You need to sleep more." Sasuke's eyes shinned and she gave Itachi a peck on the cheek.

"We've slept enough, now come on I'll make you breakfast." Itachi sighed again but pulled Sasuke to him.

"You win this round." He softly kissed her forehead and let her get up. Sasuke giggled and grabbed her cloths from the dresser.

"Well hurry up mister or no breakfast for you." A second later she disappeared into the bathroom to take a shower leaving Itachi to move at his own pace.

X-1 hour later -X

Sasuke laughed as Itachi ducked under a low flying golden brown messenger hawk before raising her arm and letting the bird rest on it.

"Really now Chi, just because you haven't seen me in a while doesn't mean you have to attack Itachi-kun." The bird clicked its sharp beck in response before nuzzling into Sasuke's cheek. Itachi frowned at the bird's affection but said bird turned its head and met his gaze with sharp intelligent eyes.

"How is it again that they like you so much?" Sasuke smiled and rubbed the Hawk's head.

"Well, whenever you went on missions Minato-sama would send Chi here to keep me company… and it looks like he missed me while we were gone." Itachi raised an eyebrow but the Hawk clicked its beck as if to agree.

"You're going to have to be careful with him don't you remember my new summoning contract?" Sasuke's eyes widened in remembrance and she stopped walking to turn and face Itachi.

"We are going to have to talk with your summons than." Itachi smirked and gently pushed her back making her continue forward.

"We'll sit down and talk with them later for now we have to focus on our mission." Sasuke sighed and nodded before looking up at the bird.

"Can you go tell Minato-sama we're almost there?" the bird bowed its head and took off into the air with a loud piercing cry. Sasuke sighed and took Itachi's hand as they entered the tower. "I'm serious about that talk, I don't want them hurting each other." Itachi nodded.

"Don't worry once we get back from this mission we will." Sasuke sighed again but finally smiled as they reached Minato's office. She knocked and a minute later they were told to enter.

"Ah early as usual please come in and have a seat." The two ravens did as told and once they were seated Minato cleared his throat.

"I have an S-ranked mission for you… There is a very notorious spy running around in grass country. The leader of the village has enlisted our help and they have classified this as S-ranked because the spy has a very destructive jutsu that has killed many civilians and stopped all of their shinobi." Sasuke nodded and accepted the mission scroll from Minato.

"Is it a capture or kill mission?" Minato leaned back in his chair.

"That's the problem… this man is a missing ninja from the grass village and they want him back as a capture but the leader said if there is no other way…" Itachi sighed and took the scroll from Sasuke once she was finished.

"Capture first, kill as last resort." Minato nodded.

"Do you think you can handle it?" Sasuke smiled as Itachi smirked.

"Come on Minato-sama, we are Anbu and we will do everything in our power to complete this mission with the man alive." Minato smiled and nodded.

"Good because they have started receiving death threats from him and they want this resolved as soon as possible… I'm giving you one month to complete it." Itachi glanced at Sasuke but nodded and stood up from his seat.

"Understood we'll head out immediately." Minato nodded and watched as the two vanished from his office before sighing and rubbing his head.

And who is curious about what summoning contract Itachi has? I know I… oh wait I already know which one he has and don't worry it isn't a normal one it's new and different… in my opinion anyway seeing as I haven't seen them yet...
