OK.

Firstly, hello all! It's been so long since the last time I've updated! Reasons why? School, work, and I've found more anime and manga! If you haven't read hiro mashimas rave master yet, please do so!

So this is… chapter 13? Yes.

I'm so sorry for not being here for such a long time! But like I've said before, I will not give up on this fanfic. And I haven't forgotten it.

Yesterday someone had actually reviewed my lonely and forgotten story. I was so surprised that I made myself write today, and put everything aside. My second semester is a lot easier than my first, so I'll definitely be able to make more time for this. Plus, March break is coming up. That means drowning myself in anime and manga, fanfics and writing!

And! I do not own fairy tail. Hiro mashima does.

So without further ado; chapter 13 of the golden string of fate! Please enjoy! XD

She felt some air begin to swirl around her hands. But that was it.

She tried to focus harder, but nothing came. She gave a huff of annoyance, and lost her concentration.

Opening her eyes, she could see she was still very far from Natsu.

She closed her eyes again, and stretched out her arms further.

"Okay" she thought "I need to do this. For Natsu-san, for Lucy-san, Happy, Erza-san, Gray-san. And everyone back at the guild."

With a new determination, she raised both arms so they stuck straight out from her body, and stood tall.

She took a deep breath to prepare herself, and swing both her arms counter-clockwise, while exhaling a large breath of air. So that her right arm was facing forward right in front of her, and her left, level to the ground facing behind her.

Her front right leg was bent, bracing most of her body weight, as great winds suddenly surrounded her, as soon as she exhaled.

It was as if when she opened her mouth, to let out a simple breath, the gusting winds of the heavens had appeared, and enveloped their holiness protection around her.

By showing the sky above her, her bravery and determination, they had granted her the divine powers of the sky, to protect and save her Nakama.

"Thank-you, Grandine" she mumbled under her breath.

And with that, she stalked towards the fire dragon to set him straight.

She continued to march forward steadily, keeping her steps at a beat to control her magic energy. Soon enough she was faced with raging flames a hundred feet tall and half that in width.

Natsu was now standing up, sort of awakening from his trance, when a familiar scent had wafted its way to his nose.

When he turned around, and looked towards the general area where the train and his friends waited, he saw someone.

Just about 50 feet from him, was a little blue haired, brown eyed girl.

He could feel the strong magic power emanating from her, and was instantly impressed from her performance. He could especially feel the strength of the wind she was controlling.

Without even looking closely, he could clearly see the determination glowing in her eyes.

His eyes softened for a moment, realizing that determination was because of him. She was probably scared. He knew if she broke concentration even for a second, she would lose her wind barrier, and most likely burn alive.

Because of him.

He was being a horrible friend. Worrying everyone, especially Wendy, because of how he was acting.

Letting out a deep sigh, he looked down. Staring at his feet for a while, as if scrutinizing them because it was their fault.

Raising his head again, ready to apologize, he noticed Wendy had come closer. She was only about 10 feet in front of him now.

"Wendy! What are you doing here?! You're going to get burned"

Finally making eye contact with the troubled pyro, she gave him a disappointed look. With anger in her gut, she swiftly brought up her right arm to the left, and swung it to the right, successfully breaking the sound barrier. And with an enormous boom, the fire was gone.

"Natsu-san." Wendy had said sternly. "What in the world of Edolas do you think you are doing?" She had calmly demanded.

He gave her an incredulous look. "wha- what do you mean?" he stuttered, still stunned that Wendy could actually act this way. She had an aura of authority, like lecturing a child that had done something wrong. "I needed time to think to myself. There was nothing for me to demolish, so I created an area for myself to get rid of some anger and confusion."

"And how did that work for you, Natsu." She asked bluntly.

This was the first time she had said his name without an honorific. Was he being demoted by a little girl? What the…

At her comment, a pulsing vein had appeared on his forehead.

"It was the only thing to do, ok?! What else do you expect me to do?! If I were to talk to anybody about what happened right now, I'd blow up and kill someone!" he explained loudly, getting annoyed at this fast.

"Natsu, we all know you would never kill any of us. No matter what would happen, you would always come back to us." She explained softly, her act slipping a little. But just as it had slipped, she quickly recovered into her hard act.

"How do you think we feel Natsu? We don't know what is happening here. We don't know what's wrong because you won't tell us. We can't help you if we don't know what's going on." She explained calmly, but sternly.

He was annoyed at what she said. It was his fault, were they trying to mock him?

"I don't want your help! It's my fault that Lucy was taken! SO I WILL GET HER BACK MYSELF AS HER MATE. SHE IS MY RESPONSIBILITY AND I WILL TAKE CARE OF IT MYSELF."

He was about to continue his rant, but was suddenly hit hard in the chest. Upon impact he had flown a few feet, until gravity brought him down to body-check the dirt.

After dragging across the ground and a few rolls, he got on his knees to look at what hit him, but the answer was right in front of him. Right in front of his face was a female, with shadows of anger surrounding her features, and dilated eyes staring widely at him.

"Wendy…?" he asked quietly and slowly.

"Sky dragon's claw" she said darkly.

Wendy had quickly jumped back a couple of feet, and steadied her ground. Drawing a great breath, she swelled her magic power, and focused it on her next spell.

"Sky dragon's roar" she growled.

"Wendy! Wait!" Natsu yelled, startled at the sudden attacks.

Ignoring Matsu's plea, she released the spell as the magic circle formed in front of her.

With Natsu's fighting instincts kicking into gear, his body instinctively, prepared and released a roar of his own.

Wind and fire clashed. Creating heated winds, and glowing streaks to surround the skies and area around them.

Because Wendy had attacked Natsu so suddenly, he didn't have time to adjust his attack so it wouldn't hurt Wendy.

It was only a couple of milliseconds until fire began to overpower wind.

Soon enough, Wendy had no more energy to continue her one attack, and the magic circle had disappeared.

Natsu had enough sense to cancel his attack when Wendy's gave out, but the force from them both cancelling had sent a small blast of energy outwards, shooting blazing winds everywhere. The pressure from this had caused the sky maiden to fly backwards, away from the salamander.

After things had cleared up, he noticed his blue-haired Nakama lying on the ground, facing away from him.

"WENDY!" he yelled while sprinting over to her. When he reached her, he slowly rolled her over. "Wendy?" he questioned her name, unsure if she was ok.

By rolling her over, he could get a better look at her. "I'm fine Natsu-san…" she said after he rolled her over. Finally making eye contact with her, he was more surprised than anything else. She had a look of understanding and sorrow poor out of her, and reach out to him. Her face showed a family-like love to him.

Of course she didn't blame him. She treated him as her older brother. They both were dragon slayers, and that means she understands what he would be going through with his mate more than anyone.

She opened her mouth, and whispered sweetly to him. "Natsu-san…"

"I'm so sorry Wendy, I'm not acting like myself" he said hopelessly.

Suddenly Wendy had stood up, and brought Natsu with her. Taking a step back, she stood up tall and puffed out her chest.

"Natsu-san." Wendy said with her yet again firm and authoritive voice. "I understand what you are doing. But wallowing in your own sadness and loss will not help with getting Lucy-san back at all." She explained quite bluntly.

"Wendy…" he began with his brows creased in offence and sadness laced in his words. "I know, but-"

The younger slayer had cut him off before he could say anymore. "Lucy-san is NOT just yours. She Is MY precious Nakama. Erza-san's precious Nakama. Grey-san's precious Nakama. Happy's precious Nakama, his mama…"she had started out that sentence quite confidently. Almost yelling. But as she had continued with that sentence, her voice had gone to a lower level.

Wendy had explained that Happy spends a lot of time with her and Charle. So when they were together hanging out one day, happy had confessed to her that he saw Lucy as his mother. Since Lisanna had passed away, she was the first person in a long time that reminded him of what a mother felt like. She let him sleep with him on scary nights, fed him the best fish, cuddled with him, supported his decisions (especially with Charle) and the best part, made Natsu happy.

When Wendy had mentioned Happy's name, he perked up. "Happy thinks of Lucy as his mama? But what about Lissana?" he asked curiously.

"Happy once told me that he felt like Lissana had abandoned him when she had passed away. But at the same time he felt that it was his fault. He said that if he had gone with her, he would have been able to swoop her out of Elfman's reach and saved her from the hit. So when he had met Lucy, he swore to himself he would do things right this time. That he would protect her in any way possible. But even when Lissana came back, he made sure not to abandon Lucy, and to keep his promise.

Wendy sighed "Natsu, you are not the only one suffering. And you don't have to separate yourself from everyone because she was taken. This isn't the first time Lucy-san has been taken. Every time she was, you have rescued her, we all have helped to get her back. So what is so different about this time? You are still Natsu Dragneel, the salamander. She is still Lucy of Fairy Tail, the best celestial mage."

"Wendy." Natsu replied "it's not that simple."

"And why not." She shot back. "Nothing has changed. The only difference is the fact that you two have realized that you were mates. You were mates before, and you are now. And just like all the other times, we'll be there to save her just in time. So what are we doing here? Let's go devise a plan with team Natsu to save Lucy-san. Ne?"
