Midori found himself in black nothingness and the only things were several doors next to each other, that are covered with chains. In that moment the door on the far right got freed from the chains, which indicated that this was the first one he should take. Slowly he walked up to the entrance and opened it, getting covered in a bright light.
After light vanished again, the detective was floating a bit over a lawn of a gigantic old fashioned and Japanese estate. The next thing he noticed was, that he couldn't control how to move or where to look. Suddenly the realization hit him: He was looking from the perspective of his shadow or else he would be able to move. This theory got confirmed by his shadow, who just said "yep" and went silent after that. Now, inside his shadow, he looked upon three figures with green hair: Himself, who was around six years old if he had to guess, wearing a hoodie with short pants, a girl with a fanned ponytail and a school uniform of Tokio, who looked like about double the age as his younger self and probably was his sister. Finally he looked upon a female adult, who was most likely his mother. His real, biological one. She looked like she was about twenty, but that wouldn't make any sense, since she had two kids, already going to school, so she had to be in her thirties. She wore the same hairstyle as his sister and her daughter and was dressed in a short sleeved white shirt, with a hood and wore a long skirt. The small Midori was lying on the lap of his mother, while the daughter of the trio was sitting next to her, having her head on her mother's shoulder. Looking at them filled Midori with warmth, but it confused him, not knowing how he felt at that time of his history. Maybe he would remember that by himself. Nevertheless, he had to chuckle, when he saw that he wore hoodies since his childhood and his mother was just like his adoptive mother right now: Wearing a hood. Before he could observe more, his sister began to talk to her mother, sounding a bit bored:
"Mum, why are you and Mido always wearing a hood? It's getting repetitive."
"Well, I like it. But could you please stop asking me that question, Keiko?" The young girl laughed a bit and replied jokingly:
"I'm just messing with you. Mum!" In that moment the two kids jumped up and smiled widely when a male adult entered the lawn and got jumped at by the two children. The man had a white shirt on and a black suit was thrown over his shoulder. Unlike the rest of his family however, he had short and spiky black hair. On the other hand he had one common feature with his wife in the appearance aspect: They looked younger than they should be.
"Hey there! How are my favorite kids doing?"
"Great! The little brat here too!", the girl stated with a sly grin, while Midori saw his younger self pouting. Does it count as narcissism to think that he was cute when he was young?
"And what about you, Aimi?", the male man asked, before kissing her on the lips.
"Just chatted a bit with Joseph and Misaki. And I found another case for you, Kotarou. Want to get to it right away?" Kotarou just laughed heartily, but declined the offer.
"Nah, I have more important stuff to do. Like teaching our son, the "thing"!" Hearing those words, the young Midori showed his excitement while jumping and running around in the backyard of the estate and yelled in celebration. In that moment the older sister grabbed him in mid air and held the young Midori in a headlock.
"Okay, I know that you're just a little brat, but chill!"
"Mido, come on in. We're gonna do this inside." Enthusiastic the boy ran into the estate and went through several rooms until reaching a place, that looked like an ancient and traditional meditation place. The kid sat down in seiza-style and looked at his father, who sat in the same position.
"Alright kid, did you do your spiritual training like always?" The young boy nodded, still smirking in excitement.
"The water was cold, but I can feel how these shadows are afraid of me!" Midori's younger self raised his fist, while the older man laughed and said almost challenging:
"Ready for your first meeting with yourself? When you do this everyday, you get even more SP!" This time the kid even nodded harder than before, but then remained silent with a focused look on his face, because Kotarou began to instruct him for his "meeting":
"Close your eyes and wish to know more about yourself, no matter what it's about. Then imagine that there is a hole on the ground, that is closed. Try to open it." Following the steps, Kid-Midori began to glow in blue light, while his father looked pretty relaxed. Suddenly he heard his wife saying while patting her daughter:
"How long do you think he will be in there?"
"You know how it's functioning. If you meet your shadow on free will, than he will just meet what he is inside. As a kid, there isn't much to let him deny, so it's fine."

In the next moment the current Midori got spawned inside of his shadow's dungeon AKA his inner world and looked at his younger self while sitting on the fountain, back then where Adachi was. The kid in front of hims was psyched up by this place and only was a bit confused, when he looked at the exchange student – who was inside of his shadow apparently.
"Are you my shadow? That thingy inside of me?"
"What if I am?", said the shadow with disinterest. How Midori's younger self reacted surprised him and his shadow at that time.
"Awesome! We're gonna be best friends forever!" The shadow was silent for a short time, but then broke out into laughter and threw his arms in the air.
"Yay! Okay, first thing we're gonna play is..."
