A/N: Okay I am so super sorry for not updating in forever. But school was absolutely CRAZY! I had pretty much forgotten all about my electronic life for a while until I kept getting reviews and I was all like, "Yay! They still read my stories, maybe I should update because they are so awesome!" yes. That thought ran through my head. Anyways, its been forever and so I wrote 7 pages for you guys to try to make up for my absence. Oh, now that its summer I will be updating more frequently now. I hope you forgive me!
Oh and that person who threatened not to read my story? I believe the review went, "you stinkin jerk! i told u to change jasmine and add midnight, you can even take away her powers, i dont care! just add her! i will read the next chapter, if i dont find her in your story, im done reading it. Period." Yes, you. I am very upset with you. This is my story. Do not try to black mail me into adding your characters, I did this as a way to get you guys involved. Soo, I don't care if you don't read my story, I have other readers and I love them all very much because they build me up with tier reviews, they don't take me down. So I will not be adding Midnight due to your rudness and the fact that she did not fit the character guidelines. God bless.
Enjoy this chapter! And don't forget to review! They make me happy!
Aqualad
"What do you mean: Someone was following you?" Jasmine demanded once Derek broke the news to the group. Aqualad was perched on one of the cots his elbow on his knee with his chin in his elbow. Red-X was leaning against the wall, arms crossed in a bored posture. Derek was sitting on a different cot inspecting his sword while Jasmine was animatedly interrogating him, her hands flying every which direction. Derek glanced up at Jasmine,
"Did I mumble?" She looked taken aback.
"Umm…no?" her tone was curious and slightly flustered as she answered his question with her own question.
"Then you heard what I said." X snorted at this. It came out eerie with the robotic voice changer. Jasmine whirled around and chucked the closest object at him; which happened to be Derek's dirty shirt. He caught it easily and tossed it aside while Jasmine made a disgusted face. She turned back to Derek and took a deep breath,
"Okay. Okay. Let's try this one. When did this person start following you?" Derek took a thoughtful breath,
"This person was a girl. She looked about 17 years old with an uneven bob-cut. She had a gun with her and she started following me about halfway here. She just slipped out of the ally and started following me." A small smile tugged at the corners of Jasmine's lip, a smile of pride and approval.
"How'd you spot her?" Aqualad interrupted,
"I saw her reflection." He snapped before turning back to Jasmine expectantly. She nodded approvingly,
"Where is she now?"
"She's right outside the entrance. She slipped up a tree when I came inside." Jasmine hummed thoughtfully.
"When can you be ready to go?" Silence filled the room. Aqualad frowned and turned back to look at the group, jumping slightly when he realized that she was addressing him.
"Oh, umm, tomorrow morning maybe?" he said uncertainly. Jasmine frowned, Red-X scoffed and even Derek scowled over at him.
"Leave during day light?" Red-X spat.
"Well you want to be able to see them." He retorted, slightly disturbed that they seemed to know something that he didn't.
"Yes, it's just we usually travel during the night."
"Why?
"Because he," she jabbed her thumb over at X, "Has night vision. And it makes it easier to blend in with the shadows and slip away instead of fight. The thief nodded but Jasmine swept on, "But I suppose we might as well change that. We'll try your way tomorrow morning. If it doesn't work then we'll go back to traveling at night." Aqualad nodded but then noticed a guilty look swept over Jasmine's face. "S-sorry." She muttered addressing her two friends. The prince frowned in confusion but Red-X just sighed and nodded while Derek rolled his eyes,
"Its fine, go ahead, and make all the decisions. You're apparently our leader now." Hurt flashed in the brunettes eyes,
"I'm sorry Derek, I'm not used to being with a group." He ignored her,
"Might as well save his night vision for something important, change out of the stupid costume." The blonde haired boy muttered and Red scowled at him. He looked like he was about to object but Jasmine interfered,
"Just do it Shawn." The thief sighed before snatching some civilian clothes off the cot and storming out of the room and into a smaller room.
Jasmine sighed, "I'll go address your stalker, Reck" she stated a small teasing tone in her voice. Aqualad jumped up,
"Wait a minute! I agreed to take you three, no more."
"Listen fish-boy," she snarled, suddenly snapping "I'm getting tired of this. If there are survivors they deserve to be taken in." Her eyes flashed, "We all worked hard to survive so shut your face hole and cooperate."
"Bro, just listen." Derek cut in before Aqualad could object. The prince rolled his eyes but nodded anyways. Jasmine gave them a curt nod before grabbing her pistol and stuffing it into her holster and walking out the door.
The door shut with a bang leaving Derek and Aqualad in the room.
"So" the hero began but stopped at Derek's scowl,
"I don't need small talk. Get some sleep, we leave at first light tomorrow." Naturally the boy objected,
"You don't tell me what to do. I'm the hero now." He snapped
"Then start acting like it." He snapped back. Aqualad clamped his jaw shut and Derek rolled onto his cot, turning his back to the prince. After a few seconds of silence he spoke again,
"Which cot am I sleeping on?" The reply was instant,
"Jasmine's."
"Where is she sleeping?"
"Either on the floor or with X. They've known each other forever. They won't mind sharing. If he tries anything dirty we'll all know about it." He almost sounded proud of the fact and Aqualad frowned before taking his cot and laying down trying to fall asleep.
Cody
It had been an hour since the boy had slipped inside the metal door and she had scampered up the tree. Though, it was fairly hard in heeled boots. For an hour she had sat waiting for something to happen, anything to happen. But the door had remained closed and strangely enough, no walkers had even come close to the area. In fact, she hadn't seen any since she climbed up the tree. That was strange.
Her thoughts were cut off as the door creaked open. She tensed waiting for the boy with blonde hair to slip out and was taken back when she saw a pretty brunette step out instead. Her breath caught in her throat and she held it hoping the girl wouldn't spot her. But as luck would have it her honey brown eyes swiveled around and landed directly on Cody.
Quickly the girl glanced around before calling out to her,
"I can see you, you can come down now." Cody huffed before slipping down and swinging onto the ground with a thud. The stranger cautiously approached a small smile played at the corner of one lips, "My friend was kind of uncomfortable with you stalking him." Cody's grey eyes widened slightly,
"I uhh… sorry?" the girl snorted. Her posture was relaxed but her hand hovered around her waist line where a gun was located.
"It's no problem. Who are you?" all playfulness disappeared from her voice and her face turned serious. Cody frowned recognizing the face her father often used when talking business.
"I'm Cody. Who are you?"
"Jasmine. That boy-," She cut herself off frowning once again. "What are you doing here?" Her brow eyes bore into Cody's grey ones. Cody contemplated lying. But what good would that do?
"I came here after me and my father went to the military base."
"That place is overrun with zombies though." Jasmine cut in a small catch in her voice.
"I know." The brunette girl narrowed her eyes and searched Cody's eyes. Something caught her eyes and they disappeared from Cody's and narrowed on her neck before darting back up to their previous destination.
"I'm sorry." She murmured before reached down and pulling up a set of dog tags around her own neck, "My dad too." Cody gave a small smile. She opened her mouth to say something but was cut off when a loud screech split the air. The sound sent shivers down Cody's back and threatened to drag her back into her memories that we scarred into her brain. Her mother, killing her mother, running, fighting, her father…
Jasmine's own eyes widened and she gasped. To late Cody realized it was running right towards her and she let out an instinctual scream. It was weird. After all the time not one had come out and now it was just suddenly there? She didn't mean to scream it just ripped out of her throat without her permission. Fear pulsed through her and her hands trembled as the raised her gun.
Jasmine reacted faster, panic threatening to overcome her reasoning and she drew her gun and fired, taking down the zombie in one shot to the head. Out of nowhere they started pouring out of the shadows and cracks of the buildings like rats. Jasmine cursed and Cody readied her own gun ready to fight,
"No!" Jasmine shouted as they began to run towards them, their stench over powering. She reached forward and grabbed Cody's arm before turning and dragging her towards the bunkers, "Go! In there!" she yelled unnecessarily loud. Cody gulped before running inside the door Jasmine on her heels.
It was dimly lit on the inside and Cody trembled slightly as Jasmine slammed the door shut with a thundering bang. There was a small rectangle window that allowed the girls to see outside. The walkers were right outside, slamming their half decayed palms against the door and banging it with their fists. Rotting faces were shoved against the window and the door groaned lightly against all the tension. There were at least 20 out there all with the same thought in mind: Food. And they were the main course.
The window cracked under all the pressure and Cody glanced over at Jasmine who was watching with wide eyes. But she wasn't moving so Cody assumed they were okay for now and she continued to watch the gruesome scene with her hands clenching her gun, knuckles white. The door suddenly let out another groan and small dents began to appear and Jasmine began to slowly back away her honey brown eyes widened in utter horror.
Cody was watching with fascinated horror. She had always been on the run and hiding from these strange creatures that she had never been able to observe the disgusting infected bodies. One woman's…if you could call her that… face was pressed against the door's window. Her jaw was agape and she chewed on air with rotting yellow teeth. Her tongue was black and her eyes were clouded with unrecognition. Her hair was falling out in clumps and revealed dull brownish grey flesh underneath. Her face was marred with multiple wounds that hadn't scabbed over. They just sat there and oozed with blackish red blood. Squinting Cody realizes, with disgust, that she could distinguish parasites wriggling almost all over the thing.
Her thoughts were broken as the woman was ripped away and replaced with a young boys face plastered. Suddenly the window shattered and the boy's face was shoved through, the broken glass tearing flesh off his face. It let out a scream that pierced her ears and shattered her thoughts, wrenching her heart. It wasn't until after the boy was shoved violently downwards and his head coming half way off that Cody realized that it wasn't him that was screaming it was coming from right beside her. It was erupting from Jasmine's throat.
Terror had seemed to overcome the girl and she had back into the wall and collapsed against the wall and sunken to the floor. Her eyes were widened with horror and glazed over with panic. Tears streamed out of her eyes and her mouth was wide while a scream continued to rip from her throat. Cody swung her head around panicked and unsure what to do with the girl.
The door groaned again but the sound of running demanded her attention,
"Jasmine!" A masculine voice cut through all the chaos surrounding the door. Cody whipped around to see a shaggy black haired guy running towards them. His wide blue eyes were focused on the screaming girl, his athletic build assisting him to getting to her faster. He swooped down beside her and tossed the gun at Cody. With a gasp she caught the gun and the black haired man scooped Jasmine up bridal style, "Come on!" he shouted and took off running down the hall with Cody on his heels.
She ran as fast as she could to escape the tortures screams of the undead behind her. Her feet thundered on the steel floor beneath her and she kept her eyes glued onto the black haired boy running in front of her. The door at the end of the hallway suddenly opened by a spikey haired blonde, the one she had followed, and they sprinted into the room. The door slammed shut behind them effectively cutting off the screams behind them.
Lungs screaming, Cody collapsed onto the ground and leaned back against the door. She contemplated whether or not she should introduce herself but decided against it. Her pulse was still racing and she figured she would calm herself down before trying anything. The room was completely silent other than the whimpers escaping from the previously screaming girl. She was sobbing against the blue eyed boy's chest as he stroked her back and whispered soothingly to her.
It all confused her. Who were these people? How long have they been here and how long were they going to stay? What caused the brunette girl to flip out so suddenly? And how would they react to her presence?
Kole
Black tentacles went in every which direction and fear pulsed in rapid pumps throughout the pink haired girl. Raven seemed to have lost control of her demon, who was now smiling cynically at Speedy. Eyes wide she cautiously backed away from what seemed to be a becoming disaster. "Raven!" Robin's voice split the shocked silence that had claimed the training room. Kole watched with horror as the demon who was Raven turned her head towards the sound of his voice, her smile dropping and her eyes narrowing dangerously.
"You!" she hissed out before moving in his direction "You're the one who killed him!" Confusion flitted through Robin's gaze before it registered that she was referring to Beast Boy. A warm hand wrapped around her upped bicep and Kole turned to see Jericho gripping her arm wearily. Their eyes met and she could see that he was just as concerned as her about what was about to go down.
Starfire suddenly stepped into Raven's path, "Friend, it was not Robin's fault that Beast Boy is dead." One of Starfire's hands were out in a gesture of peace, but the other was still by her side and glowing dimly. Raven snarled,
"Move alien." She commanded, trying to move forward again, Kole tensed as Starfire's eyes started to glow,
"Stop friend Raven. I do not wish to harm you." Jericho's grip tightened and he tugged her back slightly towards him. Raven let out a hiss of agrivation,
"I said, move!" Starfire frowned and shook her head. White glared into green in an intense stare off, the other daring the other to make the first move.
"Raven?" The smallest voice called out towards the demoness and her head whipped around to pinpoint the voice. Kole glanced over and saw a small girl with blonde pigtails and an 'M' on her shirt standing there, watching Raven with wide eyes. The small girl took a tiny step forward, "Is that you? Please don't hurt anyone." The sorceress seemed to have an internal struggle, muttering incantations under her breath before her eyes slowly dimmed and her tentacles slid towards her cloak. It seemed that Raven had gotten her demon back under control with the help of the little girl, but how long would it be before Raven decided to snap again and her demon got loose. No one had been injured this time, but would they get so lucky next time?

(A/N: I'm going to try writing this in 1st person. Tell me if you guys would rather read each section in 1st or 3rd person in your reviews.)
My breath quickened as footsteps dragger by in slow, un-rhythmic patterns. An occasional groan or screech would occasionally breech the silence but so far, not many had tried to enter the locked store. It had been hard, trying to keep this place safe, it had been locked up for the most part when I found it, only a couple employees that had turned, roamed inside. All I had had to do was kill them, dump their bodies out back and put the place under lock down. Killing them had been easy, I had, literally, a store full of weapons at my disposal.
Metal bars covered each window and door, the kind that slid down in the night to keep the place locked up tight and safe. They had been open when I got here, but now they continued to do their duty in protecting the place. It had been 3 days since I found this place, 3 days since I last went outside. I supposed, compared to what other's had, this was a luxury. At least, I hope there are others, waiting out there for something to happen to these things. I'm not quite sure what to do, you can't kill them all off, there are too many of them and you can't live with them, they'll try to eat you. So really there was very little options you had left. Run, hide, and survive. Or be eaten alive.
I caught my reflection in one of the glass cases that contained the pocket knives on display. My dark brown hair was tangled and messy, my brown eyes surrounded with dark circles that was the result of lack of sleep. My hands and legs were covered with small cuts and scraped that had come while I was on the run, my clothes were torn and dirty. I was a mess.
I slowly dragged my hand down my face. Who would have thought that a 16 year old girl would be struggling to survive in one of the world's most fantasized apocalypses? My hands tightened around one of my many knives and I slowly made my way behind the main counter, jumping over it and crouching down behind it. There wasn't much there, a sleeping bag, a blanket, pillow, water bottle, flashlight, and a couple of bags of beef jerky that had been for sale by the cash register of the store.
I was in a fairly safe facility that was locked down and almost untouched by those creeps outside but I still felt safest under the counter where I couldn't be seen from anywhere, inside or outside the store. I got down on my hands and knees and crawled under the counter and onto the thin sleeping bag, I unlace my boots and placed them conveniently beside me with the laces undone so I could easily slip them on in case of an emergency. I slid under the covers and laid my head down on the pillow, staring up at the bottom of the counter. With a sigh I turned my head slightly to the left to look out of the shadow and to the wall parallel from me. A battery ran clack hung on the wall. It was really my only sanity peace. I felt, if I knew what time it was, then I was still, in some way, in control. In control of a small piece of the world that had been left behind when these parasites came alive. The smallest smile tugged at the corner of my lips and a small tear slid out of the corner of my eyes and ran down my cheek. The clock read, 11:11pm.
