A/N: Hello, readers! Sorry, I've been gone for so long. I suppose that I'm having a bit of writer's block, well I'm having a huge case of writer's block. So I tried to get this entry up, but it's a filler chapter. However, I am working on the next entry, and it should be up soon. Fingers crossed. So enjoy.

DISCLAIMER: I don't own Harry Potter.

Brianna Chase sat on her bed with her legs crossed. After a moment, she pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs. Her brown eyes focused on her reflection in the mirror of her wardrobe. Her brown hair was wrapped up in a dark blue towel. Her attempt to get her hair dry without having to use magic on it. She was dressed in bits and pieces of her uniform. She had her shirt buttoned perfectly, but her tie hanging sloppily around her neck. Her black socks were on, but she was still wearing a pair of flannel pajama pants. Her pleated skirt sat on the bed beside her. She placed her chin on her knees and sighed. She wiggled her toes and watched the girl in the mirror mimic the action.

Brianna had never identified with the girl in the mirror. The girl in the mirror had a pretty face and pretty eyes. That girl seemed like she would be confident in herself. Brianna never felt that way. She always felt awkward in her own body. Her reflection and the person she was were to different people. They had to be. Brianna never thought that she had a pretty face. Her face was round like a child's face. Her eyes were too dark. However, the girl in the mirror made it work. Her baby face and dark eyes were a nice combination. Brianna shrugged and so did the girl in the mirror.

"I like you rendition of the uniform," Lily said as she walked over to her. "Get dressed, would you?"

Brianna turned her dark eyes to the clock and sprung off the bed. She'd been so caught up in her thoughts that she hadn't realized that it was time to leave. The brunette pulled her skirt on over her pajama pants and then tugged the pants off and tossed them onto her bed. She then pulled the towel off her hair, and found that it was still wet. Before she could even turn to Lily, the red-head had her wand out and pointed to her friend's hair and the back of her white shirt. Heat crept down from the root of her hair as she tied the scarlet and gold tie around her neck. By the time, her hair and shirt were dry, Brianna had shouldered her bag and turned back to Lily.

"Ready?"

Lily grabbed her bag off her bed and walked out of the dormitory next to Brianna. "That's the quickest I have ever seen you get ready," Lily commented as they walked into the common room.

Brianna rolled her eyes, "I choose to ignore that comment."

The two girl walked down to the Great Hall together talking idly. In that moment, that moment, Brianna Chase felt carefree. She wasn't thinking about how awkward she felt that she looked. She wasn't pulling at her tie awkwardly. She had her hands on the straps of her backpack, something that she never did because it forced her to walk with her head and chest up. But she wasn't thinking about that as she walked down the corridors with Lily. Her dark hair bounced on her shoulders as she laughed at one of Lily's jokes and they walked into the Great Hall. It could have been that in all of her rushing to get out of the dormitory on time, that she didn't have time to think about being insecure in every step. Or it could have had something to do with the fact that she had been staring at the girl in the mirror. Maybe she saw that girl in the mirror in herself. Whatever it was, in that moment she felt like the girl in mirror.

James looked up as the girls sat down at the table. He muttered a brief hello to Lily and Brianna before he turned his attention back to the book before him. After a moment, he looked over the top of his glasses at Brianna. "You look nice," he told her as he closed the book on his thumb and rubbed his temple.

"Thank you," the brunette said slowly as her face brightened. "What are you studying for?"

"Muggle Studies," he muttered.

Lily arched her eyebrow. "Why didn't you ask me?" Lily asked. "I'm from a completely muggle family." James shrugged. "There's something not quite right with you." James opened his mouth to respond, but was cut off by Sirius sitting beside him and flicking the book closed on his hand. "Good morning, Sirius."

"I have something to tell you, Brianna," Sirius said. His voice was serious, and she could see James fighting to not say his usual joke, 'Why so serious, Sirius'. For that she was thankful. After seven years, the pun had lost its humor.

"What is it?" Brianna asked slowly.

"Well, Kendall…"

"Brianna!" her sister's voice rang out through the Great Hall. Brianna ducked her head and her dark hair curtained her face. "I see you," her sister said as she stopped behind her. Brianna looked up and over her should at her sister. Her dark eyes meeting her light ones. "Why didn't you tell me?" Kendall's eyes were bright and dancing, while Brianna's were confused. "You don't know that I know."

"Know what?" Brianna questioned as she looked over at Sirius.

"I'm your sister, you don't have to lie to me." Brianna still looked confused. "You and the werewolf." The hairs on the back of Brianna's neck stood up, and she could see James tense. "You and the mutt make a cute couple." The mutt. Something about the sentence stirred something inside of her. There was a bubbling sensation in her stomach the started to spread through her body. Her face started to grow warm. "Ah, speak of the devil," Kendall said as Remus slowly took a seat next to Sirius, despite Sirius attempting to shoo him away. "I think that it's wonderful that you've found someone that finds you attractive, well, something."

Brianna moved before she knew what was happening. She shoved away from the table, and her fist collided with Kendall's face before she could even think the action through. It wasn't until she was standing over her sister, in the dead silence of the Great Hall, that she even realized what happened. The Great Hall had grown quiet and all eyes were on her. Brianna's blood that had previously been running so warm, chilled instantly. "Kendall," Brianna started slowly, not really knowing what to say. She didn't want to apologize to her sister, she had it coming after all. Not just because of today, but because of all of the days, and years, prior. Kendall held her hand up to Brianna to silence her. Her twin then stood from the floor, before turning on her heel and walking away.

Brianna collapsed into her seat next to Lily and dropped her head into her hands. "Oh, what did I just do?"

"You just punched Kendell," Sirius stated as he started in on his eggs. He looked up and saw that people were still watching Brianna. He waved his hand and shouted, "There's nothing to see here. Carry on, ladies and gentlemen." Slowly the Great Hall's noise level rose to what it had been before. "And it was a damn good punch."

Suddenly, she felt sick. Her stomach started to knot and her skin began to grow warm. The events that had occurred where slowly coming back to her.

"Oh, Merlin! She'd going to kill me," Brianna mumbled into her hands.

"Nah, I think you shut her up for quite a while," Sirius told her.

"No, mother. Oh, Merlin she'll be furious. Oh, no!" Brianna let her forehead fall to the table. "I just know there'll be a Howler this afternoon. I just know it."

Brianna's prediction a correct. Not five minutes after she, Lily, and the Marauders sat down to lunch a black owl soared into the Great Hall, screeching and drawing all sorts of attention to himself. Upon hearing the owl, Brianna ducked her head and tried to hide behind Sirius. Obviously, her attempt was in vain. The owl landed on the table before her and squawked loudly. Brianna turned her eyes to the owl before her. His golden eyes pierced her skin as she looked down at the red envelope attached to his foot. He squawked again as she reached to take the envelope from his leg. To show that she wasn't moving quickly enough, the owl nipped roughly at her hand, as she finally got the red envelope off. The owl flew off as quickly as it had come.

Brianna stood and took the Howler out of the Great Hall with her. She didn't want the entire school to know what her mother had to say. Not like it was a big secret. She was going to get scolded for hitting her sister. There was no big secret there.

Once she was up on the second floor and off to the side, she sat down and slid her finger under the seal to break it.

BRIANA CHASE,

HOW DARE YOU! I HAVE NO WORDS FOR YOU AT THIS POINT! WHAT IS YOUR SISTER SUPPOSED TO DO WITH A BRUISE ON HER FACE WEEKS BEFORE SHE GOES TO A PAGEANT? WHAT IS SHE GOING TO DO…?

Put on more makeup, Brianna thought to herself.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISAPPOINTED IN YOU! YOU NEED TO GET OVER THIS JEALOUSLY THAT YOU HAVE AIMED TOWARDS YOU SISTER; IT'S NOT HEALTHY! WE WILL DEAL WITH A PUNISHMENT FOR YOU WHEN WE SEE YOU AT THE END OF BREAK.

Brianna watched as the red envelope as it tore itself apart. A punishment for her? What about a punishment for the awfulness that is Kendall Chase? How about a punishment for her? Kendall had the punch coming for years, but her mother would never see that. No one would.

"Hey," Remus' voice said to her. She looked over at him with her brown eyes. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm brilliant," she told him a little sarcastically. The two shared a brief smile before Brianna shrugged and answered honestly, "I'm fine though."

"I don't think that I got the chance to thank you," he told her as he sat beside her.

"For what?"

"This morning," he told her. "When Kendall was calling me 'the mutt'."

"Oh," she muttered. "It's okay, no worries. What are friends for after all?" She brushed her dark hair from eyes and stood up. She held her hand out to Remus and pulled him up after he took it. The chill that ran through her body when he grasped her hand was undeniable. "Don't call yourself that though," she told him with a frown.

"What?" Remus asked with an arched eyebrow.

"The mutt," Brianna muttered. She couldn't say it without her blood boiling. "People are so," she paused searching for the appropriate word as she shook her hands about "ugh!" was the word she finally settled on. "When are people just going to accept people? You're a better wizard than most people here, half-blood werewolf or not."

Remus smiled at her. She was so full of passion. Passion that most people never got to see. He was one of the lucky ones. He got to witness how her cheeks flushed when she talked about the things she loved. How a fire burned in her dark eyes. How when she got excited she talked with her hands. How she had these ideas just wanted everyone to accept them. How she wanted everyone to be as accepting as she. He was one of the lucky ones that got to see past the shy exterior and into the passionate interior of Brianna Chase. "Thank you, Brianna, however, I don't think that there will ever be a time where people are as accepting and understanding as you."

"It's just so frustrating, you know?" Brianna asked dumbly. "Oh, well of course you know. I'm sorry."

"No harm done," Remus replied.

The two stood across from each other. Brianna's back against the wall and Remus standing in front of her. Her arms crossed over her chest and his thumbs in his pockets. The color started to fade from her cheeks as she stood across from him. He could have kissed her. He wanted to kiss her. Her pink lips were so close, yet so unattainable. He wanted so badly to kiss her. However, he wasn't sure what would come of it. He'd kissed her once and told her that it was a mistake. That it was due to all of the emotions that he was feeling. However, kissing her was never a mistake. He never regretted kissing her tender pink lips, he only regretted telling her that it was a mistake. "So lunch?" she asked as she pushed her hands into her pockets. She turned and started down the stairs.

Remus watched her for a moment. He'd come up expecting to find her crying. He had expected to have to cheer her up and stop her from hating herself. However, he wasn't greeted with that. He was greeted with Brianna Chase with her back against a wall and no tears. It might have been the first time in a long time that he'd seen an interaction with Kendall not bring her to tears. She wasn't visibly upset by the Howler that she'd received. She wasn't visibly upset about the fact that she was going to be 'punished' at the end of break. In fact, she didn't even really seem to care. Remus was greeted by a somewhat stronger Brianna Chase.

"Well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger," Remus muttered under his breath as he shoved his hands into his pockets and followed her down the stairs.
