A/N: Hi friends! Sorry for the late update. A recurring bunch of illnesses and a lot of heavy workload kinda drained me for months, enabling me to churn out an update to Big Time Pilots only last mid-April, and this latest One Night in Bali update only after 5 and a half months. But I hope you'll find the new chapter to be worth the wait. :) Luv y'all! :3
ONE NIGHT IN BALI
Chapter 14 – We're Halfway There
DAY SEVEN: LAST DAY IN SINGAPORE
Oh, you're such a turd. Oh yeah, a giant turd. And you look like a turd. And you smell like a turd…
Oh, you're such a turd. Oh yeah, a giant turd. And you look like a turd. And you smell like a turd…
Kendall and Logan wake up to the blonde's alarm tone, The Giant Turd Song, the version from Big Time Strike. For some reason, Kendall is actually using it as his wakeup alarm tone. Logan lets out a little chuckle as he listens to the silly lyrics of that song. As soon as Kendall shuts his phone up, he rolls back to face Logan and hug his brunette.
"Good morning, Logie!" Kendall beamingly greets Logan.
"Good morning, Kindle!" Logan also greets Kendall happily with his squirrely smile.
And they kiss for a few seconds to start their day right.
"You ready for Bali later?" Kendall asks.
"Definitely, Kindle! I'm so excited!" Logan giddily says as he continues hugging his blonde boyfriend.
The two then get out of bed and walk to the bathroom to have a quick hot shower before they go downstairs to have their final breakfast in Singapore. They then put on plain t-shirts and jeans, and they proceed downstairs to the Somerset breakfast lounge.
Since it's gonna be another busy day, the two have another hearty breakfast to keep their energy up until they reach Bali, Indonesia. They both grab scrambled eggs, sunny side up fried eggs, boiled sausages, cheeses, ham, pork and beans, toast and bacon, and a lot of soy milk and orange juice.
As soon as they feel full, they rest for a bit, and they go back to the elevator to return to their apartment. It's 10:00am according to their wall clock and their watches, and they proceed to pack up their remaining used clothes and other items which are still not yet in their luggage. They also take out the clothes they'll be wearing for the flight. Expecting the same warm and humid tropical weather just like in Singapore, Kendall decides to wear a plain white shirt topped with an open dark blue polo, with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and Logan decides to wear a black t-shirt and a jeans jacket, because Logan expects the plane's cabin to be cold, and he can easily shed the jacket if he gets too hot in it.
When they've prepared almost everything, they look at the clock and it says 10:20am. Still plenty of time. The boys then shed their shirts but leave their jeans on. Kendall brings out some red wine from the fridge while Logan takes the pack of cigarettes and their lighter. Logan also goes back and gets two dining room chairs and sets them on the veranda. The two then enjoy a brief moment of smoking and a nice glass of cool wine as they enjoy their last few hours at their Somerset apartment, enjoying the hot Singaporean morning while clad only in their jeans. A few clinks of their wine glasses, a few playful puffs of smoke into each other's faces, and intermittent pecks on the lips and cheeks went on as they continue to relax before their trip to the airport.
When their watches show 11:00am, they head back, bringing the chairs along and returning them to the dining room, and they take another shower.
In the bathroom, Kendall and Logan shampoo each other, and then rinse each other's hair. But before they soap each other, they lock themselves in a passionate kiss and embrace. Feeling the reaction of their manhoods, they then begin stroking each other until they climax, because their time is already limited, since they need to check out by 12pm. After climaxing, they wash their warm fluids off themselves and then soap and rinse each other's bodies. Afterwards, they dry each other with towels and proceed to brush their teeth at the sink outside the shower stall.
After brushing, they change into their final clothes and pack the remaining stuff in their luggage. They decide to leave the remaining liquors, wines and cigarettes behind, to avoid possible penalties or additional fees at the airport, and the lighter as well due to aviation safety and security regulations.
As they sit in the living room sofa and watch TV, Kendall's phone rings and he answers it. It's Cathy and Matt calling them.
"Hey Cathy!" Kendall greets.
"Hey Kendall!" Cathy answers, with Matt saying "Hi guys!" in the background.
"So, Kendall, you and Logan ready for the flight?"
"Yup, we are. We're just waiting for checkout time and we'll be heading for the airport."
"Lemme just double check… Your flight is from 4pm until 6:40pm, right?"
"Yup, Cathy. Hopefully there won't be any delays."
"I sure hope so too. We'll already be there by 6:30pm. But I think you'll probably be exiting immigration and customs by around 7:30pm. The lines at immigration and customs have been very long lately."
"Oh, really? Dang. I hope we get processed fast just like last time."
"I hope so too. So I guess Matt and I will be waiting for you at the greeter's area, alright? Call us if you can't find us or if you need any help, okay?"
"Sure Cathy! Thanks so much!"
"You're welcome, Kendall! And oh, please say Hi to Logan for me and Matt, okay?"
"Sure thing, Cathy!"
"Bye, Kendall!"
"Bye!"
After the phone call, Kendall uses Somerset's wifi connection on his iPhone to access their airline's website and check-in online. After online check-in, Kendall then returns to snuggling with Logan while watching TV.
When 12pm came, Kendall then calls up the front desk to tell them they're checking out. Somerset sends up a front desk staff to assist them in moving their items out. The friendly Chinese-looking Singaporean then does a quick check of the room, as per standard policy, and also as a customer service to ensure that their guests did not leave anything behind.
Kendall and Logan take one last look at the Somerset Liang Court apartment that had changed their lives forever: they came in as best friends, and now they're leaving the apartment as boyfriends.
The staff then accompanies Kendall and Logan to the elevator and down to the front desk. After processing a few more papers and transactions, the two are gestured to the seats in the lobby while staff members hail a taxi for them.
When a taxi has been hired, Kendall and Logan are assisted into putting their luggage into the cab's trunk. The two then graciously thank the staff for the service and for their wonderful stay at Somerset. They then board the cab, with both of them at the back seat. Fortunately, their Chinese-looking taxi driver definitely didn't mind.
The taxi then starts accelerating to bring them to Changi Terminal 1. Their flight is with Indonesia AirAsia, a subsidiary of AirAsia of Malaysia. Luckily, even though the airline is a low-cost carrier (LCC) or a budget airline, AirAsia does not operate at the rather-spartan Budget Terminal. Instead, they operate at Terminal 1, where there are more creature comforts. Of course, T1 is older than T3 from where they arrived from their Singapore Airlines flight, but as they enter the airport, they can see that it's still a very beautiful, clean, comfortable and functional airport.
Instead of the longer traditional check-in queues, they proceed to the faster online check-in and baggage drop-off counters. In less than 3 minutes, their checked-in bags are tagged and they are directed to their boarding gate. Kendall and Logan then proceed to the immigration counter.
Even though it was already past noon when they proceeded to the immigration counters, it was really almost devoid of passengers. Singaporeans really are very efficient in everything, the two thought. Kendall and Logan proceed to a random immigration counter, and surprise surprise, they ended up with the same lady officer who welcomed them to Singapore a week ago.
"Well, well well! Hello Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Henderson!" the immigration officer happily said in surprise at her two passengers.
Kendall and Logan quickly remembered the pleasant lady.
"Why, Madam officer, hello!" the two said with beaming smiles.
"Oh, please, just call me Susan"
"Oh, uh… Hi Ma'am Susan!"
"Susan, just Susan."
Kendall blushes a bit as he feels awkward calling someone with authority by their first name, but he tries it anyhow.
"Okay, I'll try… Hi… Hi Susan!"
"See? That's better!"
"And you can call us Kendall and Logan instead"
"Okay, Mr. Kendall…"
"Hahaha. Noooope! Just Kendall and Logan"
"Hahaha okay then, hi Kendall and Logan!"
Since there wasn't a queue behind them, Susan, the immigration officer, is a lot more relaxed in chatting with them while she processes their exit stamps.
"So, how was your vacation in Singapore? Did you have a great time?"
"Oh yeah, we had an awesome time! Everything here had been great!" Kendall answers.
"Yeah, plus we were able to try Chinese, Malay and Indian food. And oh wow, everything is diverse and cool!" Logan also chimes in.
"Wow, I am soooo glad you enjoyed Singapore so much! Hope you'll visit us again soon!"
"Oh, definitely! We will. We will." Kendall said as he shifts his gaze at Logan and gives him a little wink, to which Logan let out a mild blush. Luckily, Susan didn't notice as she was retrieving Kendall and Logan's passports from the scanning machine.
"That's wonderful to hear! Oh, by the way, I have a little problem and I hope you could help me guys" Susan then sheepishly said.
"Oh, sure, Susan! How can we help?"
"Well, you see, I told my son that I encountered you and Logan last week, but he doesn't believe me at all. I was wondering if the three of us could take a group selfie?" Susan says in a cute petite shy voice.
"Of course, Susan! It would be an awesome honour!" Kendall and Logan eagerly replied.
And so, Susan pulls out her iPhone, and hands it to Kendall. Kendall then positions the front-facing camera to capture all three of them, with Kendall and Logan outside the immigration officer's station, and the officer still behind the counter. Kendall takes multiple shots to make sure that Susan has at least one clear photo. They even make funny faces in the last batch of shots. And when Kendall hands the phone back to Susan, the officer then eagerly takes a handful of shots of the two boys using the iPhone's main camera.
"Thank you so much, Kendall and Logan! I'm pretty sure my son would freak out about this!" Susan says with a big smile.
"You're very welcome, Susan, and thank you for processing our immigration stuff!"
"You're very welcome too! Hope you'll have an awesome stay in Bali! And I hope to see you again when you transit here to Singapore on your way back to the U.S.!"
"Thank you so much, Susan! Yeah, hope to see ya too, buh-bye!"
"Bye-bye, Kendall and Logan!"
The couple looks at their watches and see that it's still around 2pm, around 2 hours to spare, so they decide to stroll around Changi Terminal 1. Kendall and Logan appreciate how the airport feels more like a very comfortable shopping mall rather than a busy airport. There are plenty of cushy sofas and couches, and padded benches everywhere, and the carpeting and greenery inside the airport makes for a very homely feeling. Plus, the area beyond immigration is filled with a lot of retail stores and restaurants, making passengers' wait for their flights a very pleasant experience. Kendall then beckons Logan to follow him to a Duty Free store, and buy some cigarettes and alcohol for their stay in Bali. Remembering Indonesian customs regulations, Kendall buys six packs of cigarettes, which is equal to 120 sticks (the limit is 200 cigarettes). The two then choose four 500mL bottles of alcohol, two of them wines and two of them hard liquor (the limit is 1 litre per passenger). As always they chose a Cabernet Sauvignon as their red, and a unique sweet white wine called Moscato as their white. For the hard liquor, it's vodka yet again, and tequila.
After buying the goodies, Kendall and Logan then proceed to a Subway and order sandwiches, cookies and soda for their quick lunch.
When they finished their lunch, the boyfriends then continue to stroll around some more and check out the latest gadgets and stuff sold at stores in Changi Airport. Kendall then sheepishly asks Logan if they could check out this toy store named Liang Tong. He buys two models of Singapore Airlines A380 for both of them. As Kendall hands the cash to the cashier, Logan can't help but smile at how cute and adorable Kendall can be. Sometimes he can be like a little boy who's happy in a toy store. Kendall notices how Logan is smiling at him and what he was doing and sticks out his tongue at Logan.
When there was only 15 minutes left before the boarding gates are opened for their flight, the two then get on the walkalators (or moving sidewalks) and proceed to their boarding gate. After one last security check, they make themselves comfortable on the fluffy cloth seats of the boarding gate. They spend the remaining 30 minutes of waiting time prior to boarding by chatting and taking photos of each other and them as a couple.
After the waiting time has elapsed, a gentle chime permeates the cozy boarding gate, and the boarding call begins. Kendall and Logan queue together with the rest of the passengers for their flight.
They board an Indonesia AirAsia Airbus A320, with flight number QZ 507, due to depart at 4:00pm and arrive at Bali (Denpasar) by 6:40pm, same time zone (which is UTC +8). Upon entering the plane, Kendall and Logan are greeted by a friendly set of male and female Flight Crew members and are ushered to their seats, which are seats 1A and 1B.
As the two fasten their seatbelts and settle into their seat. So far, they can see that nobody seems to have taken Seat 1C, and also the three other seats in the first row, 1D, 1E and 1F. The two also observed that the first five rows of seats had red headrest covers, together with the exit seats in the middle indicating they were 'red hot seats', that had increased legroom by up to five to six extra inches of knee and leg room, and it costs only a few extra US dollars during booking.
Compared to their First Class Singapore Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Singapore (with the Tokyo stopover), they chose a low-cost carrier for their Singapore-Bali flight just to have a feel of what an Asian LCC flight feels like, and so far, they are surprised at the good quality of seats, comfort and service as compared to their experiences at some US and European LCCs.
When the boarding procedure is completed, the doors are closed and the jetbridge is disconnected from the plane. Kendall and Logan notice that they have row 1 all to themselves. Nobody was seated at 1C, 1D, 1E and 1F, and the entire 2nd and 3rd rows were also empty. It helps make their area feel more spacious. The regular seats with black headrests on them, however, were all full.
An Indonesian FA then welcomes the passengers in Bahasa Indonesia and English, and proceeds with the inflight safety demo in the two languages.
After a few minutes of taxiing to the runway, the A320 roars as it accelerates for its takeoff roll, and is in no time airborne. 10 minutes pass and the seat belt sign is switched off as the aircraft reaches 10,000 feet, and the FAs begin the meal service. Kendall and Logan pre-ordered Nasi Lemak, so aside from the huge complimentary bag of Garuda-branded coated and flavoured peanuts, they are also handed their piping hot tray of Nasi Lemak. The two easily wolf down the tasty and slightly spicy dish, and saved the Garuda branded nuts for the remainder of the 2.5-hour flight.
The cabin had no IFE, so Kendall and Logan entertained themselves with their own iPads and iPhones. After half an hour, they both fell asleep. Eventually their heads gradually rest against each other. The FAs sitting on the jumpseats directly in front of them but partitioned with a tinted acrylic window didn't mind, and they even chatted in a hushed tone if the two guys were boyfriends, and that they looked perfect for each other.
Kendall and Logan then wake up and felt the plane begin its descent. The fasten seat belt sign is lit again, and they buckle up as the plane descends into Indonesian airspace, specifically Denpasar's (Bali) airspace.
In no time, the plane lands smoothly on its first attempt, and taxies itself into a remote stand. Kendall & Logan retrieve their carryons from the overhead bins and go down the metal stairs and board a waiting bus to transfer them to the terminal building. When the bus is full, the doors close and they are whisked into the arrivals and immigration area.
As they queue and prepare their immigration documents and passports, they noticed that a few Indonesian police officers and immigration officials are picking (what appears to be) random passengers for possible inspection and interrogation if they're carrying drugs or contraband. They didn't worry at all coz they know it's understandably part of SOP.
Then, after a few more minutes, Kendall and Logan felt a light tap on their shoulders, and when they looked behind them, there were two Indonesian immigration officers. "Bro, come with us", one of the officers said.
Bewildered, Kendall and Logan comply and they are escorted past the immigration desks and into a secluded office.
The officers then took their immigration documents and passports. They asked the two to stay inside, and then closed the door.
Kendall and Logan started to worry. They remember several episodes from "Locked Up Abroad" by National Geographic, where drug mules are apprehended at the immigration queue and are interrogated, and when busted are given harsh prison time, and some were even sentenced to death. They've also read news articles of innocent passengers being framed up either by other passengers or airport officials even in other countries by planting drugs in the luggages.
Kendall becomes confused because this didn't happen last time he went to Bali.
He sees Logan looking very worried and scared, and he holds Logan's hand and squeezes it.
"Don't worry. We'll be alright. I won't let anything happen to you" and he smiles a reassuring smile.
However, both of them are thinking at the back of their minds: could drugs have been planted in their luggage? Who did it? Was it a passenger? Was it someone in Singapore or someone here in Indonesia? If so, how will they defend themselves and prove that they're innocent?
Kendall and Logan whip out their iPhones to call Matt and Cathy, but their phones are still showing "Searching..." It appears that their phones are having a hard time reconfiguring themselves for roaming in Indonesia much longer than anticipated.
After around five minutes, they hear loud knocking sounds from the door, and the door knob twists.
As the door begins to open, Kendall and Logan prepare themselves for the worst possible scenario: they might have been framed up as drug mules...
