I do not own Transformers.
"Aren't you three suppose to be in school?" Ratchet asked as the three children appeared out of the swirling green and blue vortex, each child coming out one at a time. He had received an groundbridge request from them, finding it quite strange since it was a Monday.
Miko raced onto the entertainment area, grabs a game controller, and plops herself down on the couch. "Us? At school during winter break? Yeah right." Good to know they were not skipping school. "Yo, where's everyone? Not like we aren't glad to see you here alone Ratchet." Jack heard noises of low grumbling from the medic's mouth.
As Ratchet was about to answer, Smokescreen walks in the main room, a Energon cube in hand. "Jack, Miko, and Raf," The three looked back at the one who greeted them. "Isn't it a Monday today? A school day or something?"
"Winter break, dude." Jack saw the confused expression on the newbie's face. "We don't have school until January."
"Basically two and a half weeks with no homework, no classes, and- my personal favorite- no teachers!" There was a grin so wide on Miko's face you would have thought it would hurt to smile that hard.
"Sounds awesome! I wouldn't mind a break like that… don't have to worry about 'Cons shooting us at or anything for a while…" The white haired teen trailed off in his own little dream world with was soon disrupted by a scoff from the CMO.
"Well, unfortunately for you, Decepticons don't take breaks."
Smokescreen sighs in a depressing way. "I know… You would think Megatron and his gang would take it easy for a bit."
"Hey, I got an idea." Miko piped up. "How about you go up to the buckethead himself, present your case of why you guys need a break and convince him to take it easy too?" Everything just went from casual fun to drop dead scary silence. "I mean, both sides are both having the same problems, shouldn't they wait things out until everything is back to normal?" Even Ratchet couldn't believe what his audios was hearing.
"You, out of all people, actually want that to happen?" Said Jack in a state of utter shock and disbelief. "Since when did you became the voice of reason?"
The young Raphael found this truly disturbing as the rest of the team, stopping what he was doing on his laptop he had taken out before hand, he frowns in worried suspension. "I have to side with Jack on this one. Miko, are you feeling okay today? Do we need to bring nurse Darby here for an examination?"
"No!" Miko quickly shout, obviously not wanting 'helicopter mom' to be ten feet of radios of her. "It's just I know you guys want to be completely robots again, and so do the 'Cons, and I want to see you guys kickin' some tailpipes again! Human fights aren't as entertaining." Okay, good to know her true reason, but still… It made rational sense.
"So then…" Smokescreen turns away from all that and to Ratchet. "Are the other's back yet?" The medic opened his mouth to say something again, but again did someone interrupts him, this time through transmission.
:: Arcee calling to base, requesting a groundbridge. ::
Arcee had a certain hiss added in her words which sure enough wasn't the static, letting everyone know she was not happy and smiling as the kids on break. "Is it just me, or does Arcee sounds a little… irritated?" Jack stepped closer Ratchet watching him prepare a portal.
Miko paused her game, standing on her knees to look over the couch at right down at Smokescreen. "Smokey, whatcha do this time?" She spoke as if this was an everyday thing that the ex sports car causes the biker femme problems one way or another..
Smokescreen puts an offended hand on his hips, still holding his cube with the other. "Why is it every time Arcee is ticked, it traces back to me?"
"So you didn't do anything?"
Smokescreen took a sip, averting his eyes away. "Not anything I know of..." He said in an unsure tone.
When Arcee and Bumblebee came out of the portal, all eyes were on them, all five pairs bewithered eyes-well, four pairs of eyes and one set of optics- at the sight of the pair.
Arcee was a hot mess; all covered in dirt and partly muddy from head to toe. Her usually neat black hair were decorated with sticks and leaves looking like mother nature decided to give the femme a makeover.
As for our scout, Bumblebee wasn't as filthy as Arcee, actually is was the opposite. Instead of looking as if he was dug up from a hole, he was soaking wet. Even his spiky hair fell victim to the weight of the wet liquid.
Not being able to keep it all it, Smokescreen breaks out laughing with Miko joining his merriment. "The slag happened to you two?" It took amazing self-control for Arcee not to run over there and kick that smile off his face. Though, it seems like everyone wanted to know what happened anyway so she spoke her half of the story...
"There was a hidden steep hole in the ground and I didn't watch where I was going and tripped down a hill..." she begrudgingly spoke, voice barely audible, while picking out some twigs which were sticking in her hair. "Thankfully, there weren't too many rocks on the way down." It had to hurt more saying what happened more than the actual event itself...
After settling down from the rather amusing explanation, Smokescreen wanted to know Bumblebee's side of the story. "So, what happened to you, Bumblebee?"
"Bumblebees…"
"Bumblebees?" Ratchet repeated quirking an optic ridge at the mention of Earth's tiny little insects of whom shared the Autobot's name.
The blond teen nods. "When I was about to help Arcee up, the same hole in the ground got me too, but I was lucky enough to hit a tree to break my fall, painfully I might add," frowning, he subconsciously leans off his bad leg. "But, the impact caused the tree to shake loose a beehive… And those were some angry bees."
Raf swings his head from side to side, examining 'Bee. "You don't look like you were stung."
"That's because I jumped in a lake. I've heard they hate water and can't swim, hence why my clothes are soaking wet. But that's not even the worst part!" he shouts suddenly with a burst of fear. "Those bees were waiting for me to come out. If it wasn't for Arcee shooting them away, I would have to choose between drowning or subject to being stung to death…"
"Are you sure those weren't hornets?" Asked Jack. Bumblebee's shoulder slumped down.
"... I don't even care what they were anymore. Primus, what would I give to get a break from this…"
"Too bad you can't have your own winter break."
Bumblebee and Arcee looked at Jack in confusion, now realising the three human children weren't at school as usual. "No school for weeks." He added.
"Lucky. Wanna switch places for a bit?" Mildly joked Bumblebee with a huff.
For Miko, though, the joke went over her pony-tailed head. "Ooh! I want to! I want to be a 'Con-kicking Autobot!" In a flash, Miko would give up her break if there was a way for her to grow 20 feet taller and grow metal on her skin with built in blasters.
"I was kidding Miko…" More or less...
"So, Optimus and Bulkhead haven't came yet from their investigation in Greenland?" Arcee lifted her head up to see Ratchet better.
"That's where they're at? Why didn't you tell us, Ratchet?" Rudely spoke the Asain teen, sounding as if it was medic's fault his answer has been repeatedly interrupted.
"Maybe I would have told you, Miko, if I wasn't constantly…" The beeping of the computers halted the medic's sentence. "...Interrupted." He sighed, shaking his helm in frustration. "Primus, what is it this time?" Directing his attention towards the screens, his expression changed as if he found something unexpected. "A distress signal? There?" His digits taps somethings into the keyboards to pull up more information.
Arcee's eyes fixates on the area where the signal was coming from. She starts to understand the medic's change of tone. "That's around the centerpoint of the fight between us and the 'Cons, and the explosion."
Smokescreen blinked catching on. "Could it just be a coincidence? I mean that was weeks ago."
"Only one way to find out," Bumblebee dropped his shoulders with a sigh. "Back to the Amazon we go… where the bees are bigger."
"Don't forget giant wasps and hornets!" Again, leave it up to Miko to tease someone about their fears. Arcee rolled her eyes as Jack stares at her. "What? Is it a surprise I learned it in biology?"
"Is there something in the air today? Miko is learning in class and using logical thinking." It was really hard to tell if Jack is feigning shock, or just trying to pull on Miko's arm. Either way, Miko had a scowl on her face that showed her feelings towards the comment.
"You know what else I've learned? That if I come down there and hit your head with this remote, it will cause a concussion and I will make it look like an accident."
"The weather isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It feels so good out here." Said Smokescreen, following behind Arcee through the rainforest as she was taking point with a scanner in hand disguised as a cell phone. Only about 80 degrees fahrenheit the weather was fairly warm as the tall trees provided a good amount of shade for the group. Even the melody of the tropical birds singing their songs were relaxing, momentarily making the Autobots forget about the possible dangers that comes with walking through a presumably dangerous rainforest.
The few downsides to this was the dread feeling of running into an animal or something that was capable of actually harming them in their Techno-Organic state, or, if you're Bumblebee, having to face a swarm of stinging insects.
Arcee looks over her shoulders, Smokescreen and Bumblebee in her field of vision. "It hardly gets cold here, or so what I've heard. Makes me glad I left my jacket back at base." She faced forward again, walking with great caution as she didn't want to relive tripping over something insignificant, again. She was just barely able to get herself cleaned up before heading out of base and she'll be damned if another accident similar to earlier repeats itself.
"It's a little humid out here though… I should have done the same and left my hoodie there. " Frowning uncomfortably, Bumblebee tugs on the collar of said hoodie, letting some air ventilate in it. Thankfully, his clothes were starting to dry. "Oh, scrap it..." Smokescreen watches the scout unzips his hoodie taking it off as he then ties it around his waist by the sleeves. "What?" The scout was receiving a look from the former sports car. "It feels better this way, and I don't have to worry about carrying it."
"How did you learn to do that?"
"I… rather not say." Not wanting to dig into the conversation, he just left it be, but Smokescreen remained curious. "So, Arcee, how close are we from the signal?"
"Not too far," She pushed aside the hanging vines from the trees as he marches on. "Should be right about…scrap. Signal's gone." The femme swore silently.
"Gone? Like vanished gone, gone?"
She shows them the scanner. There used to be a blinking dot, representing where the signal's location was at. Now it's, "Gone." Arcee restated.
Fortunately, Arcee remembered where it was before it went out. The three Techno-Organics advanced on the trail they were on and stumbled across a crash site beyond a barricade of trees. The ground was a total wreck, bulldozed over, some roots from trees been uplifted as if something huge plowed it all up and pushed aside.
Getting closer to investigate, it became very clear this was a crash site of something big, possibly a ship or another type of spacecraft. It's not very clear of what it could have been beside those reasons. If that was the case, where did the ship go?
Arcee stepped around the crash sight, minding her distance from it. "It came from right here, I'm sure of it."
"Maybe it flew off." Smokescreen got a certain look from Arcee and Bumblebee, the one a person would get after saying something ridiculous. "It could have happen…?"
Bumblebee then spoke for him and Arcee, "Um, no offence, Smokescreen, but I think we would have seen something that big fly off just now."
"Or heard it." Arcee placed a hand on her hip.
The elder teen crossed his arms, a stumped frown presented on his face. "Got any other ideas?" Too busy pondering over 'what's' and 'what ifs' a stranger made himself present undetected, causing them to be surprised by the other's presence.
"Uh, am ah interruptin' somethin' here?" The man asked with a casual attitude and a small, slightly playful grin. The Autobots took a startled step back, completely oblivious to the mysteries man's arrival. The guy was in his middle twenties just about, and like a brick wall he was tall and had muscles visible. Dark skin shows that he has some African-American heritage. His flaming red hair, most likely dyed, was pushed back into long braids with a red and white cap on top of it. He had on a jacket that was brightly red as the hat with yellow markings, and his bottoms were light gray baggy pants that nearly eats up his shoes.
"... Is there somethin' on mah face?" He awkwardly asked, breaking the momentary silence with some shaky humor. "There ain't any bird droppins' on meh, right? Oh, um… Vocês falam Português?"
Bumblebee blinked. "What?"
"Oh, so ya'll do speak the English language."
"We do…"
"Well, was there a reason ya didn' answer then?" He kept his voice light and lively, hiding the suspicions he was having on the three.
"We didn't expect to see someone else out here this far out in the forest… Pretty shady if you ask me." The reaction Smokescreen got when he tried to flip the tables on the man was unexpected.
"Oh. So, ah reckon ya want an explanation 'bout why ah'm here? A'ighty then." He clears his throat almost like he was preparing to give a speech. "Well, mah story began years ago, 'bout twenty-five years ta be exact. Ah was born in good ol' Detroit with lovin' parents who didn' have much money, but did their best ta raise me…" Was this guy for real? Primus, he was going to tell them his life story if Bumblebee didn't stop him.
"N-not that far, please… Just skip ahead to the part of time when you tells us why you're here, in this location, heart of the Amazon forest…"
"Ya sure? Ya'll be missin' some good parts now."
"We are positive."
"Suit yourself. Ta make mah tale short, a friend of mine wandered out here ta look at the birds here or somethin'... Or was it a snake?" That was the only moment of seriousness showed when he had to think about it.
"Isn't that dangerous?" Arcee started, wondering how someone can be so calm about it. "This place isn't exactly a playground, you know."
"He's a big boy. Don't worry about the kid gettin' hurt, he knows how ta handle himself. Anyway, he's been gone fo' a while, so ah'm lookin' fo' him. He's missin' the party."
"Party?" Smokescreen wondered why there were be a party out here in the middle of nowhere.
"Yeah. That is why ya three are here, right?"
This could be a perfect opportunity to erase any doubts on them. "Right. We… got lost on the way. This guy here," Smokescreen leans on Bumblebee who was giving him a funny look. "sucks at giving directions and lead us here to… that." He eyes the supposedly 'crash site'.
"There was a meteor crash a while back. An' now the meteor's gone; some scientist dudes took it up from what ah heard." He shifts his weight to the side. " Why don't ya follow meh back? Not a fun thing ta be lost inna place like this. Especially with all 'em snakes, spiders, giant hornets… oh, don' even get meh started on the animals."
Bumblebee was more than ready to leave as fast as possible. "What are we waiting for? Lead the way!"
"Hey, what about your friend?" Smokescreen questioned.
"Ah have ta worry 'bout him later. Like ah said, he's a big boy an' right now an' ah can't really afford to miss mah gig."
"Your gig?"
"Yep. " He stated proudly, straightening up his jacket. "You're lookin' at the DJ."
Arcee raised an eyebrow and questioned, "A DJ?"
"'A DJ'?" He mimicked, sounding offended. "Girl, it sounds so boring when you say it like that. Here, lemme show you how it's done." Dancing to an imaginary beat, his long hair bounced with him as he rapped, "He's the funky tunes master, the rhythm meister, ain't nobody can do what he do better, once he starts pumpin' 'em beats, there's no stopping it with a blaster. Everybody give it up fo' the one an' only DJ Blaster! Now that's a better introduction, dontcha think?"
Bumblebee, Arcee, and even Smokescreen had no idea to respond to the guy breaking out in song. Well, at least it wasn't bad.
"… You're name is Blaster?" Out of all the things that was weird about this fellow, the name bothered Bumblebee the most.
"Nah. Blaster is mah stage name. My real name is Baxter, which is pretty close ain't it?" The guy, Baxter chuckled. "Ah thought about changing it ta 'Blaster' tho'. Sounds cooler. But let's head outta here and talk more about ourselves when we reach the party, shall we?"
At this point, I believe I just announced the name to one of the four mystery characters. It was actually fun but a struggle trying to write 'Baxter's' speech, but I want to hear your opinions on it. I don't know if I did good or if I was overdoing it… Honestly, I think I would do a better Blitzwing…
Welp, hopefully next chapter will be done soon.
See ya'll next time and don't forget to comment and review!
