The cool breeze sweeps across Hogwarts grounds, rustling the leaves lightly as it hugs the surrounding trees. The brunette strolls casually towards a certain spot, a protective hand placed firmly on her stomach. No matter what has happened in the past, Hermione knows that in the future, everything will be better than before. It's the middle of March, the redish sun casting a beautiful orangish glow on the giant castle and grounds. Her caramel locks are being swept behind her shoulders as another gentle gust of wind tumbles through the trees. Lately, Hermione has been able to relax a little more than she has in a long while. Ever since she turned 11, she has been constantly defending herself and her friends. However, Hermione would have it no other way.

Now, she has another one to think of. Thinking back, Hermione smiles to herself as she remembers how her friends took the news.

Flashback

Waking with a jolt, Hermione jumps out of bed and races to the bathroom as she feels her stomach jolt and right as she reaches the toliet, what little is in her stomach, empties.

"Hermione?" Ginny's soft voice, laced with concern, echoes quietly in the small bathroom as the redhead gently lifts her friend's hair out of her face. Hermione's stomach gives another wrech, the sickining sound echoing through the bathroom. Finally, Hermione has enough energy to slowly lifts her eyes to her friend's, not wanting to make the dizziness any worse.

"Is there anything I can do?" Ginny rubs soothing circles along the middle of Hermione's back. Slowly, Hermione closes the toilet seat and sits on top, holding her head in her hand. The red-head crouches down in front of her best friend, concern shinning brightly in her blue eyes.

"Gin, I need to tell you something, but you must promise not to tell anyone else until I am ready for them to know. And you have to promise that you won't get upset in any way." Ginny opens her mouth in what seems to be protest but Hermione automatically cuts her off.

"Promise?" Seeing the slightly sick and upset face of her best friend causes Ginny's resolve to crumble into nothing.

"I promise "Mi. Now what is going on?" Hermione pauses for a moment, taking a deep gulp of air in, before slowly releasing it, her confidence seeping back into her eyes.

"Ginny, I am pregnant." For a few moments the ginger didn't move, and for a few seconds, Hermione feared her friend had stopped breathing. Waiting with growing anxiety, Hermione studies her friend's face, watching for any signs of anger or something that may result in it. But none showed and after a few more tense moments, a high pitch squeal tears through the silence of the bathroom, startling Hermione out of her thoughts.

"When, when did it happen?" Ginny's whole demeanor has changed. Her blue eyes, which were clouded with concern only a few moments ago, now shine bright with excitement, and Hermione can't help but to giggle at her friend.

"It happened about a month ago. But, this morning sickness is really beating me up. It is extremely hard for me to eat breakfast in the morning, let alone actually get out of bed." Suddenly, Ginny remembers that it was about a month ago when Hermione had started looking ill, and when she had started eating smaller portions at breakfast, and even some mornings, not show up at all.

"That is why you started feeling sick a month ago. Why had I not seen it before? The bags under your eyes, the way you started eating smaller and smaller portions and even some morning not coming down to the Great Hall at all. I had worried about you so, and yet, I never suspected this." Ginny gives a large sigh as she ponders what kind of friend she is for not being able to see it. "Does Harry know?" Hermione keeps her eyes fixed on the white and black tiled floor but slowly shakes her head.

"You are the first to know because you are my best friend and I know I can trust you to keep the secret until I am ready to tell the rest of our friends, and especially Harry." Ginny is once again rubbing soothing circles on Hermione's back.

"Of you can Mi. You can count on me, I promise." Hermione smiles gratefully and in one swift moment, Hermione is back on the floor, the toilet seat, with her stomach wrenching up what little food is left in her stomach.

A week passed before Hermione finally got up the courage to tell Harry. She wrote a note in the middle of Transfiguration class that morning, keeping it hidden so she wasn't caught.

Please meet me at the black lake at 7 tonight. I have something I need to tell you.

H

That night at 7, Harry had arrived but saw no one. Slowly Harry walked around the lake to where a little alcove that was hidden away. Peeking inside, he found Hermione, a fire going and food layed out on a blanket next to the glowing fire. Stepping inside, Harry walked slowly toward Hermione, taking in her beauty as the light emanating from the fire seemed to make her glow.

"Hermione, what is this all about?" Settling himself down next to his girlfriend, Harry noticed that Hermione was looking really nervous. Like something was on her mind or something had happened. Slowly, Hermione lifted her gaze to meet his, and felt her nervousness return tenfold.

"Harry I-" Pausing, Hermione took in a deep breath, steeling her nerves and then looked back up at Harry, resolve once again shinning in her brown eyes.

"Harry, I am pregnant." Like Ginny, Harry sat, quiet, for a few long moments, trying to process what he just heard. The silence started to worry Hermione and she sat up on her knees, leaning forward so she can see Harry's face.

"Harry-" the abruptness from the kiss startled her and Hermione took a few second for her brain to catch up and Hermione tangled her fingers into his hair, savoring it while it lasted. Pulling away, Harry's grin only widen and he pulled Hermione into his lap, his arms keeping her from moving as they were wound tight around her waist.

"Am I really going to be a father?" The awe in his voice made Hermione's eyes soften and she wrapped her arms around his neck, laying her head gently against his.

"Yes," smiling broadly, "yes you are," They stayed wrapped in each others arms for the remainder of the evening until they had to sneak back into the castle just before curfew.

Flashback ends

She doesn't understand why she was so nervous of telling her friends and Harry. I mean, if they were her true friends then they would accept it and be happy for her. And that is exactly what they did. Now, they isn't anything else to get in there way except the minor fights that come with having family, and being in a relationship. No matter how much is thrown their way, Hermione believes that her, Harry, all of her friends and family, and the baby growing within her, can make it through. No more Voldemort, no more Bellatrix, no more death eaters.

With the defeat of Voldemort, also came the step down of the current Minister of Magic. Stepping into his place, Kingsley Shakebolt. Receiving a letter 5 days after Kingsley stepped in, Hermione was offered her dream job. The head of the Department of Magical Affairs. Automatically accepting, Hermione will start the day after a week after graduation and will have paid vacation for when she has her child. Harry also automatically accepting the offer of becoming an Auror along with Ron, and Ginny accepting the offer to play for her favorite Quidditch team.

Everything is looking up, and as far as Hermione can see, nothing in the future can bring them back down. Finally, after 7 years of constant worrying, constant fighting, and constant morning of loved ones, Hermione doesn't have to fight, worry or morn. Graduation is coming up in two months, and her baby is due in another 7. She worked for everything that she is getting and now everything is perfect, and Hermione would have it no other way.
