Her eyes were wild with killing intent as she snarled at the corpse, her teeth bared.

The earth around the corpse grew dark as the body bled out, black miasma pouring out like smoke. A throaty growl rose from Shizuka's chest as she watched the smoke slowly begin to take shape.

It was a demon in the form of a teenage boy, with sooty gray skin and a crop of messy crimson hair, his grin was feral as his eyes met the gaze of the beast before him.

"My, my, it looks like I've been caught." he giggled, his bright red eyes crescenting in amusement. "That dragon brat knew I was here, but not just anyone can track me like that." His face nearly split in two as his grin grew wider, his eyes fixed on the marking on her forehead. "You are truly a Sun Dog, I didn't believe it when I first heard."

His smile suddenly turned to a confused frown as he looked down, staring at the end of a sword that was sticking through his chest. He looked over his shoulder, his smile returning as he saw Sesshomaru, His body vanished, reappearing several yards away, giggling at the flicker of surprise that passed across Sesshomaru's face. "Silly Lord Sesshomaru, surely your father told you that you can't kill a shadow with a sword. Even a sword as famous as yours."

Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed.

He tilted his head thoughtfully. "Oh yes, you never listened to your father, did you? Too obsessed with surpassing him to learn anything of value. Your father earned the right to rule these lands, but Master grows weary of your arrogance. " his eyes slithered over to the great dog who still growled at him, smiling lecherously. "And as for you, Master Uirusu sends his regards."

Sesshomaru's eyes burned red in fury, his sword crackling with power as he lunged for the demon again, but his sword came down on nothing but air.

The demon was gone.

Shizuka could feel the atmosphere crackling with Sesshomaru's anger, his hair standing on end as unsaturated power coursed through him, despite the icy calm of his features. Transforming back into her smaller self, she sprinted towards him, frightened of what he might do in this state.

She had never seen him this angry, and as far as she knew, she was the only one who had any chance of calming him down.

She wrapped her arms around his waist, trying to ignore the way his aura crackled almost painfully against her skin. Standing on tip-toes, she nuzzled his neck in an attempt to soothe him.

He didn't respond at first, but after a moment, he seized her in a vice-like grip and took to the air. The last thing she saw was the young dragon, staring after them.

Shizuka found herself pinned against a tree, deep in the forest. Her heart rattled in her chest as he leaned into her, his face resting in the crook of her neck, unsure of what to do. "W-Who is Uirusu?"

Her body vibrated with the intensity of his growl. "I know him only by name."

Shizuka swallowed thickly, staring up at him nervously.

"He has condemned himself to death."

The journey back to camp was quiet, even the forest around them was eerily silent. Shizuka could still feel his anger, although it was relatively subdued now. If he wasn't holding her hand, she would have been afraid to come within ten yards of him. He was serious.

Even though the demon had not harmed them physically, Sesshomaru was not the type to tolerate insults and threats...much less a demon that was impervious to his sword. She wasn't entirely sure what purpose it served, but she did know it was very powerful. He always had it with him.

"MILADY! MILADY!"

Shizuka felt Sesshomaru twitch as a rabbit demon burst out of the brush, skidding to a stop in front of them with a panicked look on his face, his little chest heaving with exertion.

"Milady! I have been looking everywhere for you!"

"Jinsoku?"

"Uirusu is-" his words died in his throat as he noticed the demon lord that was glaring down at him. He nearly fell on his face as he bowed frantically "L-Lord Sesshomaru!"

Shizuka slipped her hand from Sesshomaru's, crouching down in front of the grovelling demon. "You're a little late, we've already met one of his men." she said, smiling ruefully.

He scrambled to his feet, shaking his head as he dusted himself off. "No, no, no. I am not talking about that wicked child, He was sent to confirm that you are as the rumors say. Uirusu intends to take you as his mate!"

Shizuka was in shock, barely noticing as he jumped into her arms to hide from the death glare he was receiving from Sesshomaru. "B-But I already have a mate."

"A stronger demon can sever a mating bond, even one like yours."
