Hello everyone, Khman here with a surprise chapter in my story. I know I said that I wouldn't be posting anything until a couple months after Vol. 2 starts, but this chapter came to me at work this morning and was on my mind the entire day, so I decided to go ahead and write it while it's fresh on my mind(I am writing this on July 8th by the way). I had some idea of where I was wanting to go, but my problem was trying to actually get there. Hopefully this is a start of that progression. A problem though is that I am wanting to also stay with the actual storyline, but that doesn't necessarily have to happen. Anyways, please enjoy!
Disclaimer- I do not own RWBY or any other references made within this story. I am also sad that I couldn't go to RTX, but I still managed to keep up with some stuff thankfully!
Chapter 13: Building A Team
It was past midnight when teams RWBY and STRN, along with Sun, arrived back at Beacon. Everyone was processing what had transpired earlier that night, knowing that they may be lucky to get any sleep at all.
"You girls should get back to your room and try to get some sleep," Stacy said to the first year team.
"But I'm not tired, not after what just happened," Ruby replied back.
"Like I said, at least try," Stacy laughed back at the young leader. "Sun, is it? You come with us to see Professor Ozpin so we can have a room arranged for you."
"Sure thing," the monkey faunus replied.
The group made their way through the school and eventually went separate ways. As Team STRN and Sun went down the hallway, they came upon Ozpin waiting near one of the walls.
"I see that you have an extra," the silver haired man said to his students.
"Yes sir," Naomi replied.
"Hello sir, I'm Sun Wukong. It's nice to meet you," Sun said as he extended his hand towards Ozpin.
"Well, aren't we a polite young stowaway. I'm Professor Ozpin, I am the Headmaster of Beacon Academy," as he finished, he returned the favor and shook Sun's hand.
"Wait, how did you know-"
"I know many things young man," Ozpin interrupted the surprised monkey faunus. "I have already made arrangements for you to stay in Team STRN's room. If that is acceptable?"
"Seems fine to me," Terrance responded.
"Not a problem at all," Naomi added. "Just stay out Stacy's and my things, and you know what I'm talking about," she scolded Sun.
"Hey now, I may steal food from time to time, but I'm not a pervert. I know not to go near other people's belongings," Sun replied to the spell caster.
"We live next to Team RWBY, I'll tell you the way there," River said to the monkey faunus.
"What, you guys aren't coming too?" Sun questioned.
"We'll be back in a while, we have something else to discuss with the Headmaster," Stacy said. Having said goodnight to the group, Sun then made his way to the dorm room.
A minute passed before Ozpin broke the silence. "Perhaps we should go to my office. We should not discuss anything where prying ears may listen. Professor Goodwitch is waiting there anyway."
The group remained silent until they reached Ozpin's office, with Glynda waiting outside.
"Have the preparations been set?" Ozpin stopped and asked his assistant.
"Yes sir, no one should be able to hear whatever is mentioned in your office," she replied back. The group then proceeded inside as Glynda closed the door behind her.
"I believe you already know what we want to talk to you about, sir," Stacy said facing the headmaster.
"About what transpired tonight? Yes, I do," Ozpin replied.
"It's not about just tonight though, it's also about what may happen in the future," Naomi said.
"There's more to that incident than what's on the surface," Terrance added.
"What are you saying?" Glynda asked the students.
"Exactly what Terrance meant," River replied. "There's a reason why the White Fang would one, work with a human like Roman Torchwick, and two, need so much dust as to attempt to steal an entire shipment of it from the docks in town."
"Do you have any idea as to what that may be?" Ozpin asked.
"No, we don't," Naomi said.
"What we do know though is that it's big." Stacy informed the silver haired headmaster.
"Just how big though?" Ozpin asked once more, knowing that Glynda was going to ask if he didn't.
"Well, big enough to attempt to steal that entire shipment even after they robbed multiple stores in the previous nights," Terrance replied.
"But how do you know that these recent robberies are committed by the White Fang?" Glynda asked.
"What evidence we do have seems to point to them," Naomi responded. "As we've already said twice, they attempted to steal that entire shipment from the docks. Not only that, but Ruby also told us about the encounter she had a couple months ago with Torchwick."
"And how do you know they weren't just going to dump all that dust into the water?" Glynda asked again.
"This seems to be going in circles," River inputed. "As we said already, Torchwick was at the docks too, working with the White Fang. He would have to be using that dust for something, he's too smart to just let it go to waste in the ocean."
The two professors looked at each and then smiled slightly. "Well, at least we know all that class time isn't for naught, you really are an intuitive team. We just had to make sure you knew the reason behind everything, but it seems that we didn't have to worry."
"We learned from the best," Terrance said, causing the headmaster to laugh under his breath.
"Now that we are on even ground, what are the steps you think we should take, Team STRN?" Ozpin asked the veteran students.
"We managed to discuss this amongst ourselves on the way here, and we think we should lead a squadron against the White Fang. It would be better for us to try to do something before things escalate into an all out war," Stacy explained.
"I see," Ozpin paused for a moment. "So who would you want to be in this team?"
"You should know since we train with them so much, we of course want Teams RWBY and JNPR."
"But you're talking about first year students," Glynda interrupted. "They aren't ready for something like this."
"They may never be ready, Glynda!" Terrance stood up yelling.
"Professor Goodwitch, Terrance is right," River added.
"None of us can just wait until you think we are," Naomi said. There was a moment of silence before Stacy picked up the subject and continued.
"Look, Torchwick, the White Fang, and any other enemies we may have that support their cause are gathering together, growing stronger with each passing day, causing whatever storm that's in store for us to grow even more deadly with them. You saw those first year students during initiation, they have plenty of potential to be even better than me and my team, especially Ruby, who is here two years earlier than everyone else."
As Stacy finished explaining, Glynda started to slightly retreat, knowing that the chakram wielding leader in front of her was right. "Very well."
"I am sure you want more than just those two teams," Ozpin said.
"We do," Stacy continued. "We also want Teams CRDL, HDES, and CFVY. I know that we aren't on the best of terms with HDES, but they know who they fight for."
"We also know that CRDL hasn't got along with the other teams, but we'll make them get along if we have to," Terrance added.
"I see, is there anyone else?" Ozpin asked the veteran students.
"Not from this school," Naomi replied. "We also want to try to recruit Sun and his team as well as another girl named Penny. We saw Blake and Sun both take on Torchwick and they managed to hold their own for some time until he eventually outsmarted them. If the rest of Sun's team is anything like him, then they will be a great asset. Penny would also be a remarkable addition if we can get her."
"Well, as you said, they are not students here at Beacon, so I do not have full power over them," Ozpin explained. "However, I do have some jurisdiction given my position here. I do not guarantee that I can acquire them, but I will do what I can."
"That's all we can ask for. Thank you Professor," Stacy replied.
"It's late now, and despite it still being the weekend, I am sure you are still tired and want to get to sleep. I think we have spoken enough for the night, if you need anything else, do not hesitate to come find me and ask. I will do what I can to help."
"Again, thank you," Stacy said once more. The group then bid the professors good night and proceeded to return to their dorm room.
Author's Note- Wow, this felt like I wrote it rather quick, I managed to watch all of Volume One in the time it took to write this in all honesty. Sorry if this was a little quick, but I'm glad to get it written down before I forgot. For those that haven't been able to keep up with Monty and the crew at Roosterteeth, Team CFVY is Velvet's team and is pronounced coffee, with the other members being named Coco, Fox, and Yastuhashi I believe. I'm pretty sure now that I won't post another chapter for quite some time now, as I want to know the rest of Sun's team before I continue. In all honesty, I am a little nervous about his team due to his team seeming to be based off of the solar system, with the second member revealed being Neptune. The reason why though is really the name of the team, as it could be STRN as well, but I am hopefully fretting over nothing. Anyways, hope you enjoyed reading. I can't wait for Volume Two to start on the 24th, I can't wait to continue my story if I can get the drive to later in the year, and I ESPECIALLY can't wait for the RWBY video game to be released(commence internal screams of joy!). This is Khman signing off.
