Hello! This is a variation of my fanfic, "A Little Spirit". I wrote this after a conversation I had with a friend late one night. It is pure fluff… I hope you enjoy! Once again this is a blooming romance between Six/Rex. I do not own Generator Rex MOA does. If I DID own Generator Rex, it would go like this:

Six felt a crick in his neck and a small warm body tucked against his side. He had fallen asleep at his desk while filling out a mountain of paperwork. The paperwork that came with Providence was bad enough but trying to prove that you're a competent parent in order to adopt non-healing children was murder! He glanced over to the bed where Rex was sprawled out surrounded by papers of his own.

Six looked down and stared into his daughter's light grey eyes. She was likely sneaking off to the library for a book or the kitchen for some tea and saw their light on. It was way past her bedtime. So her "mommy" gave her a stern look. Spirit gave him a sheepish one and attempted to hide a book behind her back…

The agent laughed as he snatched "The Book Thief," by Markus Zusak from her grasp. Seven-and-a-half was a bit young for such a book but reading made her so happy and she was so advanced that Six decided to let it go. Yet the book remained on his desk as he told her to go to bed and that she could read it in the morning. Spirit pouted and gave him a miffed look but kissed his cheek regardless when Six leaned down and pointed to it.

She huffed an annoyed sigh and headed off to bed. Six glanced to the bed and shook his head. He stood and worked out some kinks before getting their papers in order. This bureaucratic red tape bullshit was terrible. He wondered if straight couples had to go through so much shit to adopt. Or was it because they had incredibly dangerous jobs that left them prone to attacks and gained enemies rather than allies…

Whatever the case may be this was getting old fast. Six thanked his foresight that he had already prepared for bed before trying to sort this shit out. He "ninjaed" into bed and wrapped an arm around Rex's waist. His husband, the heat seeker, curled into him and didn't wake once. He could just feel that he was there and that was all he needed in order to feel safe. Six kissed the bridge of his nose and rested his chin on the top of his head with a sigh.

A couple of days later and they finally had the latest in paperwork submitted. They had made it clear that they wanted to adopt EVO children. While the world was more or less open minded when it came to EVOs there were quite a few parents couldn't or wouldn't care for their EVO child. They either didn't know how to calm or distract a child who's powers are typically tied to their emotions or they simply couldn't stand the fact that "little Johnny" was a purple people eating spaghetti monster.

Six wasn't so sure about the purple part but spaghetti sounded amazing right about now. He would have to make his homemade red wine and mushroom-chicken marinara of course. Spirit was the princess of cleaning mushrooms. She took so long with it though that he sometimes wondered if she had OCD. But one thing could be said about her mushrooms… They were perfectly cut and pristine!

Unfortunately for him, he would be without his little helper tonight. Rex had declared it "Daddy-Daughter" night and spirited her away to watch, "Spirited Away" of all things. Six shook his head and inwardly groaned at the terrible puns running through his head.

Rex had been spending more and more alone time with their baby girl, which was fine. Six spent more than enough time with her when they trained in martial arts and meditation. Spirit was a far better student than Rex had been. The Latino was fine with the martial arts but the meditation… Rex was a "man of action". He had to be up and moving about or he'd be bored out of his mind.

Spirit was one for calm reflection despite being such an exuberant chatterbox. She loved to sit in silence and clear her mind. They would visit the blue caterpillar's Zen garden in Wonderland and have tea with him. The imagery was silly but it worked. Six really lucked out in have Spirit as his first child. She was always up for anything so long as her daddies were there to cheer her on. As much as he wanted to adopt more children, Six couldn't help but wonder if that was the right thing for them to do.

He would love to get EVO children out of the system, where they would be at best over looked and at worst, abused. They had had it relatively easy with Spirit. All they had to really worry about was her clinginess and her tendency to sneak off onto whatever aircraft they were taking to their next mission. It was no secret that Spirit was the best chance to just about anyone's survival.

Six and Rex had often speculated what would happen if she were to bring someone back from the dead… Would she die herself? Would she shave a year or so off of her life? Would they come back as a "zombie"?

The last one was Rex's suggestion, but people got the idea. No one was to expose her to a dead body. Not if they didn't want to be at Six's mercy they didn't… Rex may wear the pants in the family and Spirit may call the green ninja "mommy", but everyone knew that Six was the scary one.

It wasn't even that he's the lead agent and White Knight's second in command. There was just something off about the man. Outside of their little family, no one really knew much about him or why he seemed to possess the emotional range of a rock. He was a mystery. He was also much too dangerous to ask…

Though none of this stopped grunts from doing a double take as they witnessed their harsh and stoic commander cook in a pink apron or smile whenever he was greeted by his daughter after a mission. It was odd to see such a cold man, such a notorious legend, snuggle a little girl. It was very odd and unsettling…

Even after years of witnessing it…

Suffice to say, Six was hardly oblivious that someone was watching him from the kitchen door. He glanced behind him and saw a couple of grunts. They paled and scurried away before he even had the chance to say anything. The agent wasn't so sure if he should be pleased that his badass reputation hadn't been lost to frilly pink aprons and being called "mommy". Or if he should be aware of how brutally he treated his subordinates…

The green "agro ninja nanny" shrugged it off and continued to cook. Six made his sauce, tomato paste, cans of whole tomatoes, garlic, Italian herbs, Portobello mushrooms, Merlot, onions, and shredded chicken. It was a ridiculously simple sauce but the process was time consuming, especially having to brown the chicken first and cook down the mushrooms so they wouldn't release their water into the sauce and dilute its flavor.

"Mew!"

"Meow!"

"Mrrrrow!"

Six felt the furry paws on his thigh as he looked down into the bright gold eyes of his "furry child" as Rex would put it. Magic Fluffball, Spirit's sleek black cat, was staring up at him with curious and adoring eyes. Six wasn't fooled and the grunts spying on him from the door were going to get a show…

The agent had decided that if Spirit were going to have a pet cat he may as well make use of the fur ball and train it. Six tossed a piece of chicken over his shoulder and the cat did a back flip and caught it. Magic Fluffball sat down and nibbled on his treat. The pink apron wearing ninja smirked and said "good boy".

Six raised an eyebrow as the two grunts scurried away. Voices could be heard coming from down the hall. He didn't even have to look up to know who it was and that they were covered in mud and grass stains. Six would've been more pissed if it weren't for the fact that the grunts were the ones who more or less took care of laundry and janitorial services.

Rex tried to coax his daughter into giving "mommy" a hug. Spirit's eyes went wide and she shook her head "no". She knew better. Mommy liked things neat and orderly. There was no way in hell she was going to get mud all over her mommy's apron. Spirit took off running in the opposite direction, intending to take a shower before showing anyone with affection.

The cat returned for more chicken as he rubbed his body against Six's legs. Rex pouted from the doorway and muttered something about Spirit picking favorites. Six told him that he was being silly and that if he hugged him in that state Spirit would become his favorite. The Latino rolled his eyes and finally took the hint as he made his way to their room for a shower.

Rex stripped down, leaving his clothes in the hallway for the poor grunts to sort out. His clothes consisted of black combat boots with electric blue laces, black jeans, a buttoned down red dress shirt, and black gloves with orange cuffs. Six's clothes… Well, they pretty much remained the same, surprise, surprise.

Rex used his "lavender dream" body wash. Yes, it was for women but it left his skin baby butt smooth and Six hated the scent of anything Axe related. It drove his allergies as crazy as Holiday's overpriced perfume. Quite frankly, Rex never found Axe appealing either. Not only did it leave his skin dry but it also made him smell like a skunk on a hot date!

He got out of the shower and got dressed in a pair of old jeans and one of Six's T-shirts, which still looked a little loose on him… Rex was almost as ripped as Six but he wasn't quite so tall nor broad across the shoulders. The younger man was practically melting just thinking about basking in the older man's warmth as he held him and snuck in a kiss or several.

So Rex snuck into the kitchen, a pointless action as Six knew full well that he was there. The Latino did surprise him however, but slipping his hands under the apron and tweaking his nipples through his T-shirt. That action granted him a playfully annoyed reprimand. Rex laughed and leaned against the counter, saying something to the effect of, "how was your day, beautiful"?

Six admitted that he liked the peace but the quiet was too much. He missed his little girl and the "thief who took her from me". So when Spirit came running in with her damp inky black curls bouncing on her shoulders and her bright, smiling grey eyes, Six scooped her up and gave her a big kiss on the cheek. She squealed as "mommy" became a kissing machine.

Rex was used to such a sight…

The grunts who passed by were not…

What they were used to, however, was the icy cold death glare that their commanding officer gave them when he noticed them.

The two seasoned EVO fighters scurried away in a hurry.

Rex sucked his teeth out of annoyance and commented on how evil mommy had been. Spirit tilted her head to the side. Honestly, she wanted to learn mommy's scary face so she could use it on bad guys! Six reasoned that he didn't have a scary face. It was just his everyday face but a little grumpier and it could only be achieved by working with weaklings for years.

Rex had to agree. Providence hired some pretty pathetic people as their grunts. They were a dime a dozen yet everyone once and in a rare while you would come across one that was exceptional like Kenwyn and Johnson.

Spirit scurried about to set the table while Rex checked the actual paper mail that they seldom received. The Latino's jaw dropped and he began to experience panicked excitement. Six snatched the letter out of his hands and read it out loud. While it didn't say that they were being accepted as adoptive parents quite yet, it didn't say that they were being rejected either. Apparent someone from Child Services wanted to pay a surprise visit and observe their day-to-day life. They wanted to see what kind of parents they were for Spirit.

The only reason they were allowed to adopt their little angel was because she could heal. They had a bit of work to do… Six's katana and Rex's tanto would have to be "peace tied" and locked away behind glass. The labs, armory rooms, and hangar were all locked up with special codes that were privy only to those who needed them. Or Rex who could just place his hands on something and hack it.

Rex made a quick call to set up an appointment for tomorrow. Six sat back and smirked as the Latino worked over the secretary with his charm and social graces. He hung up and wrapped his arms around Six's waist from behind with a smirk, telling him that they were indeed scheduled for tomorrow that they had Ms. Charlotte Jeeter, who was tough yet fair.

A rare smile crept across Six's lips as he turned and kissed Rex on his cheek, telling him that he was marvelous and adored. They decided to share the good news with Spirit. She was a smart little girl. She'd be able to figure it out regardless, especially once the woman interviewed her about her family tomorrow.

Spirit could hardly contain herself! A little brother or sister! Really?! She grinned and began to chatter on incessantly about all the wonderful things she wanted to teach them and how much fun they were going to have. Six and Rex got a little worried when she started promising to protect them from monsters and bad people. She was just a little girl! There should be no fear of monsters or bad people!

The pair looked to each other with a frown, once again wondering if they could really do this. Raising Spirit in a military base was bad enough but doing it to another child as well, one that White would likely see as cattle or worse, a new agent… Spirit stared up at them with wide, curious eyes.

Six ran his hand through her curls and sighed, promising that it was nothing. Rex gave his little girl a small smile and rubbed her shoulder. The agent got up and decided to check through things one last time. The Latino cleaned up with his daughter and they chatted about what they wanted to do for their next "daddy-daughter date".

Six finished triple checking everything and returned to his family. Rex was spread eagle across the bed while Spirit was reading to him. Her daddy was sound asleep… Six scooped his daughter up and placed her on his lap. He leaned back into his plush pillows and closed his eyes, listening to her sweet little voice as she read Charlotte Bronte's "Jane Eyre".

Their calm family time had been a thing of the past come morning when the woman from Child Services arrived. Her name was Charlotte Jeeter and as promised she was strict yet fair. She was against having any child being raised in a military base. It was such a cold environment. Not to mention they had dangerous enemies…

Yet, at the same time, Six and Rex were incredibly loving parents and they had a whole support group of uncles and an aunt that adored their little girl not to mention the fact that everything that could be potentially dangerous was locked up tight. Each member of Providence had a tracking chip in the base of their skull and so did Spirit in case she were to be kidnapped or merely wondered off.

Charlotte had interviewed Six and Rex separately and together. The two men seemed so opposite yet so perfect for each other that it was almost painful. All the good ones were either taken or gay… It was why Charlotte was still single despite being in a decent paying job and an attractive, young-ish thirty-year-old woman. The only thing that was left now was an interview with Spirit.

Charlotte thought that the little girl was a bit odd, calling her daddy "mommy". It made her wonder if Agent Six wasn't as sane as he made himself out to be. He was the one who was truly interesting. Sure, Rex was witty, charming, and fun but there was just something about Six… His quiet intensity and strong sense of honor was even more appealing than his looks. He was a mystery.

Sarah Holiday was an alarmingly intelligent woman, which made up for her nerves during the interview. The woman couldn't seem to sit still as she kept playing with the stylus behind her ear. Charlotte couldn't help but feel outclassed in her presence due to the older woman's beauty and status within Providence.

Michael Callan and Cesar Salazar certainly was an interesting couple. They were another perfect balance between stoic and goofy. They fawned over each other and loved their niece with all their heart, but had no desire to have children on their own. Callan was confident that they would be able to help wrangle in Six and Rex's kids.

Conri was on the fence about them having more kids running around. He didn't mind quite so much but it was clear that his favorite would be his biological niece. She was the last part of his sister… Charlotte wasn't too thrilled with him but his love for the little girl was beyond the shadow of a doubt.

Charlotte was beginning to wonder if she should've joined Providence or even if she still could… The men that worked here were to die for!

Charlotte shook the thoughts from her head and sat down opposite of Spirit. The little girl looked up from her book and gave her a shy smile. She positively raved about her family when asked about them. It was clear that Spirit adored her daddies the most and almost eerie how similar was to Six. There was just enough fun mischief and charm in there to remind her of Rex as well.

This little girl had the best of both her daddies. She was going to grow up to be one impressive young woman. There was only one thing that was bothering her though… Why did Spirit call her daddy "mommy"?

"I know that mommy is my other daddy. I know that some families have two daddies and others have two mommies. They tried to break me of this habit, but I don't want it to be broken. According to daddy, mommy was my first word and it was directed to my mommy. That makes mommy and the word "mommy" special! So daddy will always be my daddy and mommy will always be my mommy. And anyone who tells me otherwise or thinks that I'm ignorant or my daddies are twisted, is wrong," Spirit reasoned with the older woman.

Charlotte blinked in surprise at the little girl's choice of words and her logic. She kind of wanted to take Spirit to her office to get an IQ test now because the stubborn little girl talked like an adult. Spirit gave her a sweet, yet confident smile as though she just knew that Charlotte had approved of her daddies.

The Child Services representative turned to Six and Rex and made it clear that they would have to do some work to make this place more suitable to raise a "less durable" child in. Happy, loving home or not, this was still a military facility.

Six and Rex readily agreed. Charlotte smiled and said that someone would be in contact with them in a few weeks to see about what could be done in regards to safety and security measures, but she was pretty confident that they would be approved. Rex all but hugged her into a gooy mush while Six offered her a very rare grin. She handed them her card and promised to be in touch.

Charlotte went to shake Spirit's hand like she did when they first met but Spirit hugged her and thanked her for giving her daddies a chance to be happy. She was looking forward to having more playmates! The older woman smiled and said her goodbyes. Six and Rex scooped up their little girl and each gave her a kiss on the cheek. Six promised to never complain about being called "mommy" again while Rex pouted and asked if he was special too. Spirit grinned at her goofy daddy and nodded, giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

So yeah, this is a little short and a little late but I've been pretty sick the last couple of days. Still, apologies for the late/short chapter. "Going Soft for the Boy" will be ending with the next chapter. It will be Six and Rex's wedding and even more importantly, their wedding night. So be sure to read the porn at the end of the chapter!
