A/N: Finally! Here's the remake to A Little Rebel. In my opinion, I like it a lot better than the last. I don't know if I'll be able to get updates faster, but only time will tell. Also, I really recommend reading the prequel (if you haven't already), A Little Roar, before this because you won't get certain parts. Anyway, with that being said, I hope you all enjoy.
EDIT (IMPORTANT): I'm not sure what's going on with Fanfiction or just my account in general, but I'm having a hard time seeing the view, followers, or favorites counts whenever I turn A Little Rebel into its own story. Like they all say zero. Before you say that maybe this story isn't getting any views, I tried viewing the story myself and even added it to my favorites. The count still stayed at zero. So, I thought it'd be best just to put the sequel in A Little Roar, so from chapter 14 onward is the sequel. Okay, thank you!
I woke up very early in the morning, like my normal routine. I got out from underneath mama's foreleg, carefully crawled over the other lionesses, and made my way to the den's exit. I walked outside and looked up at the sky. The stars or the Great Kings, as my dad likes to call them, were starting to fade and the sun was slowly rising. It was still pretty dark out, but this was the only way I really could enjoy life outside. Well, actually, life off of Pride Rock. I carefully climbed down the rocks off of Pride Rock and went for a walk. It was always rare for me to leave my home, my dad, King Simba, has always been strict about it. He tells me it's for my own good, I want to feel like it's more than that, but I also don't want to think about it too much either. My mom just says he's protecting me, but I never understood. Protecting me from what?
Anyway, I ran across the plain until I got towards the borderline. Across from us are the Outlands, I'm not sure what all is there, but my parents tell me to never to go in there. So, I don't…I just sit across from it, waiting for a friend. Once I got to the border, I stopped at a current that ran between the two borders, which also had a fallen dead tree as a bridge a few feet away from me. I really want to go over there, but I shouldn't disobey my parents. I looked over at the tree, walking over towards it slowly. Although, a quick peak shouldn't-
My curiosity got interrupted when I heard someone clear their throat. I looked over and saw two green eyes looking over at him. That's him! That's my friend! I shouted over to him, "Hey! How are you?"
I saw the eyes move side to side, so I'm guessing that means so-so. We've been talking- even if it's me that's mostly doing the talking- ever since I was five months old, and I've always looked forward to meeting him (at least I think it's a him). I'm not sure why I do, but I feel a better connection with him than, well, anyone else in my pride. Although, there is one problem.
I saw him look over at the dead tree and I know exactly what he wants. I sighed, "You know I can't go over there," his eyes moved down to the ground, looking disappointed. I apologized, "I'm sorry, but, you know I'll get in trouble. They don't want me going over there…do you know why?"
After a bit of silence, I heard him just say, "I-"
That's all I heard before I gasped, "You can talk! Oh my Aheiu! Tell me what it's like over there. Is it scary? Are there other lions or are you the only one there? Is there more just a desert like everyone says there are? Are you-"
Before I could finish my question, I heard him chuckle. I lowered my ears in embarrassment and giggled, "Hehe, sorry. I guess I got a little excited."
I saw his eyes squint; I think that's him smiling. I heard him take a breath, as if he was going to say something, but then his eyes widened in fear, then I saw him turn around and start running. I shouted, "Wait! Come back!"
A voice behind me called, "There you are, Uasi!"
I turned around and saw my father, standing a few feet behind me, smiling. I smiled back, ran up to him, and wrapped around his leg, purring. He asked, "What were you doing all the way out here?"
I sat in front of him and answered, "I was meeting my friend."
I saw him roll his eyes and he chuckled, "Right, your 'friend'."
Before I could say anything, he picked me up by the nape, placed me on his back, and started walking back home. I groaned, "No, not my friend. My friend is real."
"Okay, then, what is your friend?" He asked, still in a way where he thinks I'm joking. I groaned, annoyed, even though I really couldn't answer his question. I guess I'll go with what I think. I answered, "I think, no, I know he's a lion."
He hummed, still unbelievingly. After a short pause, he continued, "Alright, what does he look like?"
"Uh…well, he…oh! He has green eyes!"
Right after I finished that sentence, my dad slowed his pace for a few seconds, and started mumbling something to himself. I heard him say something about a "coincidence", but I didn't understand what he meant. I saw him shake his head and then just continue walking. He didn't ask any more questions after that.
After a few minutes, we started seeing Pride Rock in the distance. We both were quiet throughout the rest of the trip. I wasn't sure what he was thinking about, but I kept looking at some scars across his body and the one on his cheek. I always wondered where he got those from, but I was too afraid to answer. It was mostly because whenever I catch looking at his reflection, he always looked so sad and guilty. I never want to hurt my daddy. Unfortunately, my curiosity got the best of me. I asked, "Um, dad?"
He looked over his shoulder at me and replied, "Yes, Uasi?"
"Can you…Can you tell me how you got those scars?"
Dad stopped dead in his tracks and I felt his body tense up. I was about to call him again, but then I heard him growling. Before I could even do anything, he took me off his back, and dropped me on the ground. I squeaked a bit and rubbed my stinging backside. Dad started walking away very quickly. I got up to my paws and ran to catch up with him. Once I got closer, I said, "Dad, I'm sorry. I didn't'-"
He instantly turned around and snarled, "Don't ever bring this up again, Uasi!"
I whimpered, "I-I'm sorry. I just-"
"Uasi!" He shouted, looking completely insane. He started slowly raising up a paw. I looked at his paw and started curling into a ball. He would really hit me…would he? His paw rose higher in the air, almost getting ready to strike me. I covered my face with my paw, getting ready for the blow. …It never came. I looked up and saw the hatred in his eyes slowly going away. He lowered down his paw and sighed, "I'm sorry, but, just…just don't."
That's all he said, and then he turned around and walked away. I looked at him for a few seconds, then started walking, but didn't bother catching up. I started thinking about what I did wrong. I should've never asked that stupid question. He wouldn't have been so mad at me, if I didn't ask, but I guess it doesn't matter. It's all over now. I started smiling again and ran up Pride Rock, passing my dad and hearing him chuckle. I sighed in relief. Oh good, he's back to normal! Now, everything will go back to the way it was. Right?
Wanna know how I got these scars? I really wanted to put that in there, but luckily I didn't. Also, this'll all be mostly in Uasi's POV. Maybe I'll change it every now and then, but not too frequently. It's just easier for me to deal with one character's viewpoint than multiple. Anyway, I hope you liked this revision. Also, I figured I'd start it lighthearted and then get darker getting further into the story. Please review!
If you're wondering about Uasi's appearance, she has Scar's mahogany fur, but Nala's creamy underbelly (and other patches), she has darkish bluish-green eyes (they also look a bit like Scar's), and she has a brownish black tuft of hair on the tip of her tail.
Disclaimer: I own nothing from the TLK frachise. I only own Uasi.
