"Chapter 14 is 90% done, and should be out shortly."
Wow, I can't believe I actually wrote that in the last chapter's author notes. I'm sorry for such a long wait. College kept me very busy. I hope you enjoy this chapter. Chapter 15 will be out in a week. It just needs a little bit of editing.
Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon. The only thing I own are my characters.
"Alright, I have some good news and bad news," Theo said. He and his mom had asked everyone to gather in our living room. I was standing up, as the couch couldn't fit all of us. "Bad news, my father's work isn't done. He's looking to make an-"
"army of Pokemorphs that will take over the world, and are under his total control." Emile recited.
"How do you know all of this?" Jake said, his eyes narrowing, clearly suspicious of Theo.
"My dad wasn't the most tech-savvy person in the world. Nor the most cautious either. He intended for me to 'continue his legacy' if something ever happened to him, so he gave me all of his passwords. I have total access to every communication that they send out through emails. " Theo said, waving his phone around. "I also had a bunch of time to learn to hack them. They've created a way to create sleeper agents."
"Sleeper agents?" Kaylee asked, confused.
"Pokemorphs that don't know they're Pokemorphs until Morton uses some kind of signal."
"Then, what the hell's the good news!" Ricky exclaimed, immediately receiving a glare from his parents.
"Their first test is in two days," Theo said. "Unfortunately, the subjects are already Pokemorphs."
"So I assume that we'll need to stop them. Alright, I'll start coming up with a plan for our raid." I said, already thinking through various strategies.
"Actually, can we have someone else do it?" Emily said, quietly. Everyone looked apprehensive about me making the plan.
"Why not me?" I asked. I was a little hurt that they didn't want me to plan the strategy.
"Your plans are kind of complicated, and they have a tendency to backfire," Emile said. "Kaylee should do it."
I took a deep breath, calming myself down. I was more annoyed that Kaylee was the one they recommended. "Why in particular should Kaylee do it?"
"She's good at keeping things simple," Gary said. I had to admit that they were right, she did keep things simple, but I was worried that it would be too simple.
"I, but-I" I stuttered. "Fine, let's hear it," I said, trying not to pout.
"Sure, but we'll need to go into the training room," Kaylee said. As we got up, Kaylee whispered something to Emile. We walked into the training room, and I saw electricity arc around Emile. He closed his eyes, clearly concentrating. A small ball of electricity began to slowly form in his hands. It quickly grew as I felt the air around me become electrified. If I didn't have scales (or are they feathers), the hairs on my arms would be up right now. Emile made a forceful push with his hands, and it had already buried into the back wall before I even noticed that it had left his hands. "That's our weapon," Kaylee said. "Any Pokemorph hit with that is going to instantly go unconscious, which means that we can use it to take out their VIP's. And the best part is we don't even need Emile to be in danger to use it." She signaled to Emile who began to charge up another bullet. I tried focusing as much as I could on the bullet, trying to see watch its bullet path. I saw it leave Emile's hands, and it fired straight at the wall like last time. However, right as it left his hands it suddenly disappeared and buried itself in the wall behind us. "If I teleport the bullet using a small portal, I can teleport it so quickly that they will barely have any time to react."
"Great, you two have roles, what about the rest of us?" Ricky said.
"Eh?" Kaylee said.
"Emile can fire long range taser shots, and you can teleport the bullets, what do the rest of us do when we attack their base?"
"Um, I hadn't exactly thought that far," Kaylee said, earning several glares from I closed my eyes and thought through each of my friend's strengths and weaknesses.
"Gary and Ricky, you guys will be in charge of making as large a racket as possible and drawing any guards around the area to you. Jake, you and I will take care of any Ground-types that we encounter. Emily, Tyler, you're on infiltrating duty. If we can add to our team's power for the battle, it will greatly improve our chance of winning." I said, opening my eyes. "I kept it simple like you guys wanted," I said. "Anyone think they would be better in a different role?" No one objected. "Theo, what's the level of access you have to their files?"
"I can get any file that they have on the server. What do you need?"
"Can you get the floor plans and, if possible, the list of morphs that they have at the facilities?" I asked.
"I think I can manage that. I'll send you my results tomorrow."
"We have the rest of today and tomorrow to train. Let's make the best of it."
"Chase, you want to spar right now?" Theo said. I was surprised, as I didn't expect him to like battling,
"Sure, I don't mind." The rest of the group left the room, leaving the two of us alone. Theo looked warily at the door. "So, are we going to get started?"
He sighed, "Looks like everyone is gone. The sparring was just so everyone would leave. I have a confession to make." He shuffled around, obviously hesitating. "I'm a spy. I've been feeding information about all of you to my father's right-hand man."
I contained my urge to lash out at him, digging my fingers into my palm. "What kind of information?"
"Combat strength, weaknesses, personality. Everything that he asked me I gave."
"Why are you telling me this?" I asked although I had a few theories of the top of my head.
"I'm tired of being the mole. I'm sure you've realized the reason why I was forced to do this." Theo said.
"Threat of your mom being kidnapped? She's still here, so I assume that they haven't acted on it yet because you've been cooperating with them."
"As expected, you figured it out immediately. I still remember what you said back then." He said, looking away from me. "I just couldn't continue to go behind your back after you said something like that."
"I appreciate the honesty. Still, it complicates matters. We really only have two ways to use this to our advantage. Either, we completely halt the flow of information by making sure that they can't deliver on their threat, or …."
"Or what?" He asked, interested.
"We use the information source that they think is credible, and give them misinformation," I said, a smirk on my face. "If they thought an attack would occur in a week, when would they prepare?"
"From working with my father, and his 'Chosen Commanders', as he likes to call them, not many of them are very bright in terms of strategic tactics. The deal was something that was already setup from the very beginning." He said. "His commanders are just using it to their advantage now. If they thought that an attack would occur in a week, they'd prepare for the attack, but they wouldn't put up their full defenses until the time that they thought they would be attacked. At least, that's what I assume."
"Alright, then. Tell them that we're planning an attack for three days from now."
"Sure, I can do that." He paused for a second before saying, "You seem awfully trusting of me despite me just telling you I'm a spy." I thought about it for a second. While he had been betraying us from the beginning, it was because he was forced to. Not only that, he was willing to risk retribution from the enemy to tell me all of this.
"You're taking a big risk with telling me, that alone shows me that you trust me. Even though I can't read your emotions like I can with most people, I trust you too." I said.
"Read my emotions?"
"It's like a lesser form of mind reading. Reading people's minds is just … yuck. So I settle for"
"Now that we have all of that out of the way, let's spar for a few minutes." Theo seemed apprehensive about fighting me. "We can just stick to hand-to-hand combat if you're worried about hurting me. The wounds completely healed, not even a scar is still there." I said, lifting up my T-shirt to show that no evidence of the wound remained.
"Alright, that's fine with me." We spared for five or ten minutes, with Theo generally having the edge throughout the fight. Afterward, I sat down panting.
"Man, I'm tired," I said.
"Do you mind not telling anyone about the spy thing unless it's completely necessary?" Theo said.
"Sure, I don't mind. Just let me know when you have the files I asked for. It was nice seeing you." I said, walking up to my room. I lay in my bed, going through the possible situations that our group could face during the assault. I heard a knock at my door and I said, "Come in!" My mom came through the door and closed it behind her.
"How's the planning going?" My mom said.
"Fairly well, still working out some of the loose ends."
"That's good." My mom said, pausing suspiciously. "You know, you nine don't need to take all of this on."
"I feel like it's my responsibility. If this crime organization gets out of control, then even in our best case scenario, everyone loses."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Everyone they kidnap and transform will be essentially forced to work for them.
"Why do you think that? They can easily just rebel."
"Even if they get out, they'll face a wall of discrimination. Or at least, they would have." I said, smirking. "Because I came out almost immediately with our identities, and we've been helping out around the area, we're at least starting out with a somewhat okay public image. At the very least, the Pokemon League seems content with our existence." I said
"Look at you, Mr. Publicist. You're already thinking multiple moves ahead, huh." She said.
"There's one thing that will be the most powerful improvement, though."
"Oh, and what's that?"
"The ability to return to human forms."
"I get it, I get it. Mrs. Thompson is working on it. She wasn't confirmed or denied its possibility, but she's making progress." She said, getting up to leave. "By the way, I have a small suggestion. An insider may be useful." My mind began racing with the possibilities. I quickly ran down the stairs, yelling "Kaylee!"
Kaylee poked her head out of her room. "Yeah?"
"Can you do me a favor?" I said, running past. She followed behind, as we both went outside the house.
"Alright, shoot." She said, intrigued.
"I want to get close to their base, to see if I get some inside information on what we'll be facing. I'm hoping there will be someone I can contact with my telepathy." I said.
"How close do you need me to get?"
I grabbed my phone out of my pocket. I pulled up the map of the area and pointed to a cliff overlooking the base.
"Okay, one portal coming up," Kaylee said, raising her hand in the air, as a pink energy covered it. She slashed down with her hand, as a rift in space followed. "Hop in." I walked in, the beach around us disappearing into a rocky landscape. After we both exited the portal, it closed behind us, and Kaylee immediately sat down, breathing heavily. "Give me a little time to catch my breath before you do whatever you're about to do." She said.
"Sure," I said, sitting down with her.
"Hey, Chase."
"Yeah?"
"Do you think we'll ever be able to live peaceful lives again?" Kaylee said,
"Woah, that's pretty heavy," I said, somewhat taken aback by the negativity in her words. Kaylee is one of the most positive people I know and this was not like her. "I think if we play our cards right, we can do it. We're starting better off than I would have expected, for now, we just need to make sure we limit this team's impact." I optimistically said.
"Yeah, I guess you're right." She said. "Alright, I should have enough energy to teleport us out quickly if we need to. Do your thing."
I closed my eyes and concentrated on my aura, feeling it slowly grow as I began to sense the auras around me. I focused on the auras in the base, looking for those with the most powerful auras. Two immediately stood out, as auras were much larger than the rest of the prisoners. The were sitting down, their hands behind their backs, heads down. I opened my eyes and said, astounded. "Kaylee, I think they have two Legendaries in there."
"Seriously?!" She said incredulously. "How can you tell?"
"Size of the aura mainly. Be ready to teleport out, I'm going to try to contact them." I closed my eyes once again focusing on the two auras. I tried creating a mental link to the two. I watched both of their heads quickly pop up
"Can you hear me?" I said.
"W-Who is this?" I heard a voice respond. She sounded young, no more than 14.
"I'm here to help. My name's Chase and I'm half-Pokemon like you guys. We're gonna get all of you out of there."
"How are we supposed to trust you? For all we know you could be one of Rocket's spies trying to out us." The second voice sounded male, about the same age as the first.
"Alright then, how can I verify that I'm on your side?"
"Let us read your mind."
I paused for a moment considering my options. "As you wish." I could feel the two scanning my mind, making sure that I was trustworthy.
"We believe you." I sighed a breath of relief. "My name is Quinn. This is my sister, Skye. I think you can tell, but these bastards turned us into half-Latios and half-Latias."
"It's unfortunate that we have to meet under these circumstances, but nice to meet you. Hold on for a moment." I placed my hand on Kaylee's shoulder, adding her to the conversation.
"HELLO!" Kaylee shouted mentally, causing the three of us to flinch in pain.
"Kay, please turn it down," I said, still reeling from the pain.
"Oh, sorry." She said mentally, embarrassed. "I'm Kaylee."
"And? Are you half-Pokemon?" Skye asked.
"Oh, yeah, I'm half-Palkia," Kaylee said absentmindedly.
"So, you mentioned coming to save us. How are you going to do that?"
"We're going to raid the base you're at in three days," Kaylee answered.
"Just you two?" Skye asked.
"No, we have 6 more people in our group. Plus, once we spring you guys out, then we'll have even more people on our side, and the tables will quickly turn. For now, try to act that you're unaware of the plan. If you're absolutely sure that you can trust someone, you can share the plan with. But please be careful. One of our major advantages that we have the element of surprise." I said.
"We understand," Skye said.
"We'll contact you on the night before the raid to give you the full plan. Just in case." I said telepathically.
"Alright, we'll be waiting," Quinn said, cutting the telepathic connection off.
"That went well," Kaylee said, already beginning to create the portal back home.
"Now we just need to make sure we're ready on our end," I said, reviewing the plan in my head, as Kaylee and I walked through the portal.
The next few days passed unbelievably quickly. I had spent the majority of the time getting myself acquainted with the building's structure and preparing contingency plans. Kaylee and Emile had continued to perfect their attack. We stood outside of the base that we planned to infiltrate. Like the other base, the forest cover kept the base out of sight from any aerial scans. I had explained the full plan to the two Lati twins last night and they let me know that they had shared the information with as many people as they could. "Alright team, we all know our roles, so let's do this!" I sat down, took a deep breath and began focusing on the auras around me. I found the two most problematic Commanders together. I pulled the map I had prepared and pointed out the position to Kaylee. A portal formed in the air, and we saw the hallway in front of us.
We ran through, attacks prepared. I immediately fired a Hydro Pump at the Nidoking morph. "What the hell? Why are they here three days early?"
"How am I supposed to know?" The Gliscor morph yelled back, dodging Jake's Ice Shards.
"Sorry, did you need advance notice?" I said, returning the water to my side. I condensed the water into two blades, using my psychic abilities to keep them from falling apart. I rushed the Nidoking, swiping at him with my swords. He raised his arms up in an attempt to block. I loosened my control over the water, allowing it to flow past his guard and smack him in the face. I sensed the Gliscor morph trying to attack me from behind. I focused my telekinesis on the Gliscor's arm, stopping it right as it was about to strike me. My tail glowed with a blue light as I prepared an Aqua Tail. The Nidoking morph rushed me. A wall of ice formed in front of me, giving me the time to spin around and smash both of the enemy morphs with my tail. Both of our opponents were smashed into the nearby walls. I back stepped, regrouping with Jake. "You holding up well?" I said to him, dusting off the dust on my shirt.
"Yeah, I'm managing."
The dust cleared and the two morphs got to their feet. "Not bad. You will make great slaves once we capture you!" The Nidoking yelled.
"Capture us?" I chuckled. "I'll die before I work for you."
"Well then, prepare for your death because I am …!" As the Nidoking morph, Jake stepped in front of me and fired off a Blizzard. Not ready to guard against an attack, both were hit with the Blizzard directly, instantly knocking them out.
"Aw, I was interested in seeing what they were going to say," I said, a little disappointed.
"There's no time for that and you know it," Jake said.
"Yeah, I know." I sent out a telepathic message to the rest of the team. "How's everyone doing?"
"Chase, we need help now! Ricky's overextending, and I'm not sure he's …! Ricky? RICKY?!" The connection cut off quickly, and my eyes widened. I focused on Ricky's aura, my heart sinking as I could barely feel his aura. My left arm erupted into pain as I focused on Ricky's location. A mental fog rolled over my brain making it difficult to focus on teleporting. I arrived in a massive battle arena. Ricky was face-down on the floor in a pool of blood.
Gary was in the process of running over to Ricky, yelling his name repeatedly. I felt my left arm go numb. "Gary, take Ricky and get him to my dad. He's a doctor and he'll be able to patch Ricky up." I said quietly, feeling the rest of my body become numb as I lost the feeling throughout my body. My hands had formed into wicked claws.
"But…"
"Just go, I'll cover you. I'm not about to die, and I'm going to make sure that everyone turns out fine." I heard my voice slowly grow more gravely. Gary picked Ricky up and ran towards the entrance of the complex. When I tried to reach out to Kaylee, all I heard was static so loud that it drowned out anything that my friends were saying. I cut off the connection as a Machoke morph rushed up to me, aiming for my chest. I braced myself for the blow, but I never felt it hit. The Machoke looked confused. "The hell?! Why didn't you go flying?!" He cocked back both fists and slammed them into my chest. Once again, I barely budged, and didn't even feel the blow. "Why aren't my fists doing anything to you!" He yelled.
"Did you even go to Trainer School? I'm a Lugia, and, right now, a Shadow one at that. In other words," I said, smirking. "8x resistances against everything you try!" I let my fist fly, aiming it at his face. He raised his arm to block the blow. I stopped my fist inches away from his face, and swung my leg directly at his legs, knocking him off balance. He landed on the ground with a heavy thud as I felt power gather in my right hand. I raised it as the Machoke said, "Wait, plea-". His speech was cut short as I punched him in the stomach, the energy I had collected radiating on the ground under him.
"I-Is he dead?" One of the other morphs said.
"No, I held back enough," I said, hearing my voice become more and more monster-like. At the same time, I felt an unbelievable amount of strength filling my entire body. My aura had become a black mist swirling around me.
"You call that holding back?"
"Would you prefer I not?" I said, testing my wings out and flexing them. They had also changed, wreathed in the dark purple scales that covered the rest of my body. The only place that the dark scales had not reached where my throat. I heard the sound of a blade in flight to my right and quickly used my wing as a shield. I felt the blade hit my wing with a clang. I saw a Scyther morph trying to cut through my wing. I returned my wing to its normal position behind my back, and I let my energy flow into my talon-like hands. The Scyther morph, surprised by the sudden loss of a force against the sword, stumbled forward. I slashed at the sword with my right talons, forcing the Scyther to quickly recover. My claws scraped the sword as I attacked him again, relentlessly attacking him, never giving him a chance to attack back. Just as I was about to attack again, he threw the sword at me. I slashed it out of the way. Suddenly, another blade was at my neck, threatening to lop it right off. I barely was able to get my arm up in time to block the blow, feeling the blade cutting into my scales slightly. The blade was covered in fresh blood. I stepped back, the blade sliding out of my scales. My heart fell into my chest as I asked, "Whose blood is that?"
"I don't remember the names of the people I kill, but I think it was a Garchomp. Why? Was he a friend of yours? I hope you put up more of a fight than he did." He said, a crazy grin plastered on his face.
I could hear my inner Shadow Lugia saying, "Just let your natural defenses go, Chase. I promise it won't take you over, but you can't access your full power with your barriers up."
"Will I be able to return to being a normal Lugia?"
"As long you promise to let me get some airtime in the near future, yes, I won't fight your attempts to return to normal. Deal?"
"Fine, deal." I felt his influence fully envelop my entire body, the final white scales turning to black. Instinctually, I let out a massive roar, my voice having completed its transformation into a harsh, monstrous voice. The Scyther facing me covered his ears, a pained expression on his face. I spread my wings, powerful dark winds circling them. I swung my right wing forward, a tornado forming and heading towards the Scyther. The Scyther morph quickly dodged as the tornado continued, eventually digging into a wall and doing major damage to it. The Scyther continued running forward, the blade attached to his arm outstretched. He slashed at my arm again, yelling "Die, you freak!". I let the blade sink into my scales. I swung my tail under me, wrapping it around his arm, holding it tight.
"Let go of me! I SAID LET GO!" He yelled, screaming desperately as I charged a Shadow Blast in my hands, my dark-violet aura mixing in the wind around me, collapsing it between my hands. He slashed at me with his other blade arm, repeatedly slashing at me, making multiple cuts in my skin. I ignored the pain and pulled on my tail sending him flying behind me. I wheeled around and released the Shadow blast, the beams converging on the Scyther, and erupting into a swirling cavalcade of shadowy blades of air. The Scyther fell to the ground, covered in slashes from my attack. "That's for Ricky!" I said. The morphs in the room looked scared and confused.
"They can't understand me?"
"No duh, idiot, even if you're not a Shadow Lugia in mind, you're still one in body and a child at that. All they hear are unintelligible guttural roars." The other part of me sat down, a massive mocking smile, as he explained.
"How was I was supposed to know that?" I mentally yelled. "Well, at least I have telepathy." The Shadow Lugia grinned. "You've got to be kidding." Just then, I saw a man rush up, and immediately I chuckled a bit as he tried to regain his composure. I heard footsteps behind me as well. "Chase, we've brought backup! You OK?!"
The man got an evil look in his eye. "Welcome. While you have come far, you will not be able to fight our ultimate weapon! Get him … um … Shadow Lugia!" I closed my eyes to try to hide my panic as I repeatedly thought, "CRAP!"
I heard wild laughter coming from the Shadow Lugia. "I don't need you adding to this situation!" I yelled mentally.
"I can't talk, and my telepathy is down. Because of how I look right now, they might actually believe him. I have to think of something. Got it!" I walked nonchalantly over to one of the walls, my Shadow energy trickling into my right hand. "Shadow Lugia, what are you doing?! Destroy them!"
"As if," I thought, glaring, reaching the wall. I used my claw to carve the cavern lettering into the wall, spelling out "Is Ricky okay?" I saw realization dawn on my mother as she answered, "Ricky is fine. He'll have a scar, but with our cellular structures, it should fade over time. He's in no danger, he just passed out from the pain."
I felt an incredible wave of relief come over me, forcing me to sit down. "Oh, thank Arceus he's safe." My eyes got watery, forcing me to close them, as I began to cry. Two arms held me tight, and I opened them to see my mom comforting me. I hugged her back, tears streaming down my face.
"I hate to break up the touching reunion." I heard the executive say behind me and turned around while wiping the tears of my face. "But this battle isn't over yet! Squad 1, protect me. All other squads focus the Shadow Lugia!" A group of Pokemorphs gathered around him, as the rest rushed our group
I felt a hand grasp my shoulder. "Are you okay to fight?" My mom asked. I nodded my head and raised a talon up in the air, bringing down to point at the executive. I brought my thumb in front of my neck and vigorously pantomimed slashing my neck. The executive's face went pale and he screamed at the group around him to put up a barrier. "So, you gonna help me, or continue to enjoy my misery?" I asked the Shadow Lugia.
"It's oh so tempting to leave you in the dark, but I suppose I could help. So what's the plan?" As he spoke, a massive light blue barrier front of our way out, blocking my access to the executive.
"I say we take down that barrier. Any ideas?" I mentally asked.
"Leave it to me. I just need to you to hit it once. The harder, the better."
"Alright, here goes." I inhaled and exhaled, feeling my energy as it concentrated in my right hand. I broke out into a run, rushing toward the barrier. A group of enemy morphs moved into my way to the barrier. I prepared to brake when I heard a familiar voice scream "Take this!", as a pink dragon slammed into the group directly facing me. With the group occupied with taking on Kaylee, I rushed ahead towards the barrier. I heard footsteps behind me and found the rest of the morphs we had rescued behind me, keeping any of the enemies I stormed past from flanking me. I was almost at the barrier when a massive Machamp blocked my path. "You're not going any further!"
He yelled, while his fists became a barrage of blows. I could barely see each individual fist. I quickly charged a small Shadow Blast in my palm and thrust it towards the Machamp. My effort was cut short by a fist landing right in my gut. The breath left my lungs as I doubled over in pain, trying desperately to keep the energy I had collected in my right palm stable. I had barely stood up again as his fist made full contact with my face, sending me spiraling back. I hit the ground with a thud, my wings somewhat breaking my fall. I caught my breath, slowly getting back up, my entire body screaming in pain at the effort. Even now, I struggled to breathe. I saw the Machamp rush at me again, all four fists cocked back, ready to finish the job. I slowly brought my wings around to block the blow, but right now they felt like they were made of lead. I braced myself for the impact, my eyes instinctively closing. After a few seconds, I opened my eyes to find the Machamp's fist inches away from my face, covered in a blue aura as he struggled to break free of a Psychic. Confused, I felt the air currents in the room whip into a frenzy behind me. My mom charged at the Machamp, nailing him in the gut with an Aeroblast powered fist, her eyes reflecting her cold rage. The Machamp sailed back, slamming into the barrier behind him. I trudged on, my pace slowed to a walk. I arrived at the barrier, the aura in my right hand somehow still there. I closed my hand into a fist and I punched the barrier with all the stamina I had left. A powerful burst of wind slammed into the barrier, but it still didn't budge, the Shadow energy rippling across the surface of the barrier. "So this is all you're capable of?! Even if you had become one of our puppets, it seems you wouldn't have amounted to much!" The executive gloated.
"Sha-" I began to say before the Shadow unceremoniously cut me off.
"Be quiet." I began to hear a ringing noise coming from my aura, as it gradually became louder. "Now just grab the barrier and crush it."
"I just launched pretty much everything I had and it didn't budge."
The great beast sighed in frustration. "If you're too tired to do it, I'll just do it myself." I found myself in the chamber where I had fought my Shadow once before, my form pristine, and it's normal white coloration. The Shadow Lugia who normally lazily rested in the chamber was gone. I felt my left arm raise, the scales on my arm vibrating rapidly.
"Hey, what are you doing?!" I exclaimed, as my body moved on its own, disobeying my commands.
"You don't have any energy to contest me. Just take a break, and let me deal with this. " My palm laid flat on the barrier. "There's nothing you can do, so accept that our superior power will always beat your puny efforts."
"Are you sure? I wouldn't recommend saying something you can't back up." The words spilled from my mouth, colored by a sarcastic tone.
"Y-you can talk?" The executive said, his calm facade beginning to crack. To be honest, I was as surprised as he was. "You-" I began before he cut me off again.
"We'll talk later. Right now, I'm trying to keep you alive, so just shut up." I thought of complaining further, but I decided that I'd just rest like he recommended and I sat down.
"Of course. You're not dealing with the young, idealistic, naive Lugia anymore. You're dealing with his Shadow, in a matter of speaking."
"N-No matter, as long as the barrier still stands, you can't touch me!"
"Well, then. Allow me to shatter your flimsy hope." My hand began to grasp at the barrier as my talons began to rip at it, cracks beginning to form. I looked on in awe from inside my soul as the cracks began to spread as they covered the entire surface. The Shadow Lugia gathered a little aura into my finger, flicking the barrier. The massive barrier already weakened and covered with cracks, shattered into a million pieces. My wings unfurled behind me and the wind around me began to spin violently. "What did you say again about our puny efforts?" The Shadow said, cracking my knuckles.
"P-Protect me, minions!" The executive
said running down the hallway.
"You gonna let some coward tell you what to do?" The Shadow said to the group of morphs blocking the way. "They're probably under some kind of control. Or maybe they're being coerced."
"Thank you for stating the obvious. Now let me focus." The Shadow's voice quipped back. My body once again began moving on its own, slowly gaining momentum and rushing towards the wall of Pokemorphs blocking me from getting to the executive who was running away. Suddenly, my vision started to get blurry, as my body felt like a weighed a ton. "I was wondering when we would start running out of energy. Not much we can do now." The Shadow said, suddenly returning to his spot in the cavern, as I felt control of my body return to me, my perspective returning to normal.
"But, he's going to get away! We need to make sure he can't remove any important files!"
"If we use any more energy, we're very likely to pass out from using so much." I saw the executive in the distance, a minute or two from turning a corner. He had no bodyguards around him, but he was way out of the reach of any of my attacks. Once he turned that corner, we'd likely lose him completely.
"Can you relay something to Emile for me?" I asked.
My question was met with silence until I heard the Shadow start laughing uproariously. "Every day, you seem to remind me of why I stuck around with your antics. I'll play along!" The Shadow excitedly exclaimed, acting genuinely happy at something other than my misfortune. "Hey, Emile!" The Shadow roared. I saw my friend turn around.
"Wait, I haven't told-"
"You don't need to, I read between the lines." "Can you get the guy at the end of the hall with a low voltage snipe?" The Shadow said.
"Through that crowd of morphs? Chase or whoever you are now, I'm not a miracle worker." Emile cynically said.
"Then allow me to take care of that crowd for you." I rushed forward, unfurling my wings., and bringing every last ounce of energy I had left to my wings. I took to the skies and waited until everything I had was in my wings. I dove towards the crowd, darkness already starting to cloud my vision. I waited until I was an instant away from crashing into the crowd and then released every bit of energy in my wings, creating an enormous burst of wind, my aura coloring the downburst. All of the defending Pokemorphs got blown away. With the last of my energy gone, I could no longer move my body, as the darkness slowly covered my eyes once again. I felt two scaled arms grab me. I looked up and saw Kaylee with a concerned look on her face. I smiled and finally let my eyes close, sinking into the darkness of unconsciousness.
