The next day the group gathered at Hanna's place to discuss things. Caleb told everyone about the conversation he had with Raymond Collins about the phone booth. Remy and Luke had spent their night researching Max's identity and had yet to find out anything about her. Olivia however didn't say a word about her conversation with Springer. She felt confused about what he had told her the day before. She also didn't know if she could trust him to be telling her the truth.
For their part Miranda and Original Caleb had avoided each other ever since they kissed. Their meeting was interrupted as Hanna's phone started ringing. When she noticed the caller's ID she gave a sigh before answering.
-"Hey Spencer. What's up?" Caleb shifted near Hanna, noticing she had the "in an A situation" look. Hanna got up from her place on the couch and went to the kitchen. Caleb excused himself and followed her. Hanna listened to Spencer's words and then ended her phone call. "Spencer is on her way here. She needs to hide something that might cause trouble because of Ali and A's game."
-"Why here? Is there no safe place in Rosewood where she can do that?" Caleb felt worried by Spencer returning to Ravenswood once more, especially since her last two visits had been eventful. But then again if she had something to hide from A, Rosewood probably wasn't the place to hide it.
-"She apparently had a safe spot in her house to hide it but A got to it. And none of the girls felt their homes were safe so she thought of hiding it at her family's cabin. Noel Kahn was there and he wants those objects as well. She managed to fend him off so she figured that it would be best to leave this stuff with me."
-"Is she coming here to the house?" Caleb rubbed his neck, waiting for Hanna's answer. She grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge before answering him.
-"No she's meeting me at the cemetery. We'll probably come here after that. I'll see you later?" Hanna kissed him lightly before grabbing her keys and heading to the door. Caleb returned to the living room where everyone else was now trying to figure out who Max was. Original Caleb followed Hanna, saying he would keep an eye out on her.
-"I don't get any of this. It's like we have a puzzle with some pieces missing and we have no idea how the pieces we do have fit together." Olivia rubbed her head as she read some articles in the town's newspaper archive.
-"Or maybe we are doing this the wrong way? I think we should take a step back and try to see things more clearly. All of us were in that car. Hanna and I have both seen that mystery phone booth. She and I swapped places in the car. Then there's the pendant we were told to use to find Original Miranda. I'm guessing it's the same pendant that we discovered in Henry's stuff, the one that allowed me to get into Remy's dreams and help her against Abbadon."
-"So what exactly are you suggesting that we do?" Caleb asked Miranda from his place on the armchair. Everyone else turned their heads to Miranda, curious about what her idea was.
-"We'll give Hanna the pendant and ask her to retrace her steps the night that we first met. And I'll do the same. Maybe that's what we need in order to find that phone booth. Also, someone needs to talk to my uncle and ask him to give us the jars. If we manage to find Original Miranda then we need to release all the other victims as well."
Miranda turned her head to Olivia, emphasizing the word "someone."Olivia, who had turned her head to her laptop, raised her eyes from it and frowned. "Why does it have to be me? Why can't Caleb do it?"
-"Because I think he'd be more willing to listen to you than he would Caleb because he likes you and seems to care about you enough that he got your mom out on bail." Olivia and Luke both flinched when they heard her words. "Besides if we're gonna retrace our steps that night then Caleb needs to do so as well. Because he left me in front of the house I went inside and then I found Hanna."
-"Ok, fine. I'll talk to Mr. Collins, but I make no promises." Olivia stood up, stretching her arms before heading to the door. "I'll text you guys to let you know what hehas to say."
Once Olivia left the room Remy turned her head back to her papers and frowned. She had accidentally stumbled upon some interesting news related to the Rivers family tree.
-"Caleb? Do you remember how Henry said there was 'seven of them'? Well apparently not all of them were boys. Original Caleb and Henry had a sister. Her name was Spencer. And she looks just like your friend." Remy handed Caleb the papers she had been reading.
Caleb took the papers and started reading them. Everything about Spencer's strange nightmares seemed to make sense. She was apparently either a reincarnated version of the other Spencer or she was a double much like Caleb and Miranda were. Caleb sighed, knowing he had no idea how to tell Hanna or Spencer about this new turn of events.
If there was someone more skeptical about curses and supernatural stuff than Caleb, that person would be Spencer Hastings. The girl had of knack of applying logical thinking to everything going on in her life. And it was a good thing she did. It had kept her and Hanna away from a lot of trouble before.
-"I'll talk to Hanna about this. For now let's just focus on figuring out who Max is." The trio returned to their reading while Miranda left the house to check on things back at the Collins Manor.
Eventually Caleb gave up looking for answers about Max and started looking into his own family tree.
And that's when all hell broke loose as Caleb stumbled upon the information about Max's identity, about who her parents were to be precise. Caleb handed Remy the papers before he headed to the kitchen to get some water.
He felt as if someone had kicked him in his guts. If that was really Max's identity then things were even more complicated than any of them had imagined. Remy came to see him and let him know that she and Luke would be going back to her place. Caleb nodded his head before deciding that he would take a walk.
As he got out of his house Caleb stopped when he noticed a familiar face studying him from across the street. It was probably the same ghost boy that Hanna had mentioned before. Caleb got into his car and followed him through town. As they reached the forest behind the cemetery grounds Caleb stopped his car and followed the ghost.
He was taken by surprise when he stumbled across a decaying body lying on an abandoned train track. He noticed immediately that it was Dillon's body. Sighing he turned his head to stare at Dillon.
-"Was this Abbadon's doing? Is he responsible for your death?" Dillon opened his mouth to answer, but no sound came from him. He was apparently unable to say a single word anymore. Caleb felt frustrated about this new turn of events. However, he knew that something needed to be done properly. Grabbing his cell he dialed the police and told them he had stumbled across a body in the woods. As he waited for the police to arrive he turned to face Dillon. "For what it's worth you were fooled into making this deal by Abbadon. You were never meant to be in the car with us. You betrayed Olivia and killed her father for nothing. You were never marked by this curse."
Once the police arrived Caleb was too busy giving a statement of how he found the body to notice Dillon fading away into thin air...
