Three days later a very weary Caroline, Tyler and Matt emerged from the basement labyrinth underneath Violetta's shop. Each was still feeling the effects of what they faced, which had zapped their energy, however they also felt like a weight had been lifted from their shoulders and were proud that they could now wear the insignia of the Court of Fourteen. It was interesting being a part of something that wasn't out to kill them, like they could begin leading normal teenage lives again. They knew that Violetta still had secrets, but also knew that her heart was in the right place. She'd been there to comfort them when they'd finished their personal rituals; she'd been their listener, their shoulder to cry on and their friend. They could now understand why so many people flocked to her; she had an unbelievably large heart and a lot of love to give. It sounded like a cliché but she was just so good at everything she did. Without so many words, they learnt more about her that they had before, but it was not the sort of information they'd share with others. With Violetta you had to earn her trust, passing the ritual was a step towards that and they were grateful that she had opened up.

Caroline – being more observant than the boys – decided to make it her mission to get Violetta and Damon together after seeing their behaviour at the ball three nights previous. She didn't know the history but she didn't need to. She was hoping she could get Jenna and Lexi on side to help her. She was going to have to have words with her friends though, as their behaviour was more like a child than an almost grown woman.

In a last minute decision Tyler decided to stay behind at Violetta's, saying he wanted to ask her something. Caroline didn't bother arguing with this, she could see that what he was thinking was troubling and knew that Violetta would probably be able to help and answer his troubles better than she could. So she continued towards the grill with Matt. They were hoping they could meet Klaus and Bekah, start afresh and learn more about the Court of Fourteen.

'You can come in Tyler,' said Violetta.

Tyler shyly opened the door and entered the room.

'Can I ask you a question?' he asked.

'Of course,' she replied.

'Why do you dislike werewolves?' he asked.

She sighed. 'Was it that obvious? I thought I had hid it quite well'.

'It wasn't obvious really, I just noticed the way you scrunch your nose up when anyone mentioned the word werewolf,' he said.

'Oh I see. Well you're probably the only one that noticed,' she said.

He nodded. 'Will you tell me why?' he asked.

'Well, I guess I should, I wouldn't want you thinking I hate all werewolves. I certainly don't hate you,' she said while smiling.

'I should hope not!' he replied.

'I always knew that the creation of vampires was my mistake to correct, I know there were a lot of other factors involved but I was the one that created the spell in the first place. I knew I would have to right my wrong sooner or later. However, when Eiji learnt that I had created this species he saw it as me trying to create an army to beat him. He didn't like the thought of me having the upper hand so he purposefully created werewolves. He did it out of anger, violence and jealousy. Through the ages core hate werewolves are born with has been diluted but you are still quick to anger and violence. He wanted you to be that way, he wanted to make a bloodthirsty species that would do his bidding with as much bloodshed as he wanted'.

'So I'm the way I am because of him,' said Tyler.

Violetta nodded. 'It was his own mistake to make so I could not interfere. He has to be the one to undo that mistake but I don't think he ever will. Years ago, and we're talking many centuries, I let my guard down and was captured by some of Eiji's werewolves. It was an experience that I have tried to erase from my memory ever since and not something I will talk to you about. Just know that I would have taken a night in a high security prison with other criminals over the torment of that capture. It was a kill or be killed situation, so I killed and survived another day. During that time, werewolves were many and they had been punished for my escape. They were angry and they took to killing anyone I was close to, it was a terrible time. Worse than a thousand wars, I became a recluse for quite some time. Then as time grew on the werewolf numbers dwindled and it was safe to mingle with society again. They forgot who I was and who Eiji is but I am sure he still keeps a couple around him,' she said.

Tyler stayed shocked and silent for several moments. 'I guess that's a good enough reason for disliking them,' he said.

Violetta nodded, smiling slightly. 'I guess so'.

Tyler sighed, 'thanks for telling me, though I now regret asking'.

'It's ok. Now shouldn't you be getting to the grill, wouldn't want Caroline and Matt to question Klaus and Bekah without you, would you?' she asked.

'No ma'am,' he said cheekily.

She rolled her eyes, 'go now, before I hit you'.

[BREAK]

Bonnie appeared at the shop's door, the looked flustered and annoyed. She knocked impatiently.

Violetta moved to stand in front of the glass door. 'We're closed,' she stated.

'Please give me my powers back!' cried Bonnie.

'You don't deserve them, your actions have showed me that much,' said Violetta.

'You have no right, if I had my powers now, I would show you how much you're worth!' she cried.

'Instead, let me show you what will happen if you continue down this road,' said Violetta.

'What do you mean?' said Bonnie, before her vision blurred together and changed completely.

Bonnie saw herself outside of the shop shouting obscenities at Violetta then the scene changed and she was snapping at her Guardian. She sat in tears in her room crying over her life that had passed, all the while blaming everything on Violetta, not once realising that the decisions she made were her own. The scene changed and she was shouting at Caroline. Caroline stood in her Court of Fourteen uniform, starring down at Bonnie with pity in her eyes.

'I can no longer have you in my life, you're poison,' said Caroline.

'No!' shouted Bonnie, but Caroline continued to walk away.

The scene changed and Jeremy was standing before her looking angry as she cried silent tears.

'We can't be together anymore,' he said.

'You don't mean that,' she replied.

'I do, I don't know who you are anymore. You're rude, unkind, bitter and jealous. You judge everyone and act accordingly, Violetta was right; you don't deserve your powers. You powers need you to be neutral, helping everyone equally but you decided to condemn all vampires straight away and acted without thinking. That is not the mark of a witch!' cried Jeremy.

'No please don't leave!' shouted Bonnie, but it was no use.

Bonnie watched as the scene changed time over time and saw as everyone left her to herself. No one wanted anything to do with the bitter person she had become. The vision flashed forward to Bonnie as an adult, living alone in a dilapidated house, no friends, no family, an empty shell of a life. Her powers never returned and she became bitterer as time went on. She had become one of those old women that everyone avoids.

The last scene showed her burial, no service, no big exit, just dumped in a plot of land far from others and a blank headstone.

'Every decision you make shapes your life, Bonnie. You must take responsibility for your own actions or face this as your future,' said the voice of Violetta within Bonnie's head.

Bonnie nodded tears streaming down her face.

The vision ended and Bonnie ran from the shop in despair.

Violetta sighed, using that much energy was hard to deal with.

'Mistress, we have a problem,' said Lexi running into the room.

'What?' asked Violetta.

'Eiji intends to resurrect Silas,' she said.

'Shit!' replied Violetta before running from the room.

[BREAK]

When Damon walked into the grill he found Caroline, Tyler, Matt, Klaus, Bekah, Jenna and Lexi deep in conversation.

'What are you all talking about so quietly,' he said, as he approached them.

Their heads shot up so quickly that he was actually surprised.

'Nothing,' replied Lexi.

'Where's Violetta?' asked Damon.

'She'll be back soon,' replied Jenna.

Damon frowned, that remark sounded suspicious but he couldn't determine that Jenna was lying or not.

[BREAK]

Violetta pulled herself up yet another large rock as she made her way to where Silas slept. She knew of the stupid human myth, find the well, give a sacrifice etc. Human myths were usually rather stupid and simple. Whereas Violetta knew where the real door was, she followed the route engraved in her brain, it had been a long time since she walked this way but she still knew where she was going.

She pushed open the heavy door and walked into the chamber, it was dark as usual but some candles were lit and provided a little light. She sighed, she really didn't want to be here but Eiji alone was bad enough, Eiji with Silas wasn't something she wanted to witness. She leaned forward and stopped short, Silas wasn't in his resting place. Her heart stopped as she thought of the possibility that he'd already been set free.

'He said you'd come,' came a voice from the darkness, as Silas walked into the light.

Violetta whipped round to face the man.

'Are you doing his dirty work again,' said Violetta.

'I don't think of it as dirty work, I think of it as getting rid of vermin,' said Silas.

'You're an idiot if you think you can kill me,' said Violetta.

'Who said anything about killing you, although if the opportunity arises, I promise to make it sound like you put up a fight,' he said sinisterly.

'And you wonder why you were put down here in the first place,' said Violetta sarcastically.

Silas ignored her as he leapt forward catching her throat between his hands and squeezing. Violetta panicked for a moment before remembering who she was. She remembered to keep her breathing relaxed as she pushed her hands up and blasted him with blue fire. He leapt back in horror as he looked at his burnt arms.

'You don't have any powers,' he said.

'How do you think that rumour started?' she asked.

He looked at her in shock. 'You started it,' he said.

'Of course, I want Eiji to think of me as weak, it will be his downfall,' she said.

'Why are you telling me this, I will only tell him, once I escape here,' said Silas.

'Awh, poor naïve Silas, you aren't leaving here'.

Silas moved to attack her again, getting in some good swipes before she managed to shove him away again. In doing so her side gave a painful lurch, looking down she saw a dagger protruding from her side. She grimaced in pain as she pulled it out but in doing so, blood poured out making her weak. She gritted her teeth against the pain and used the hand that wasn't pressed against the wound to summon a stake.

'When you came here, did Silas tell you I'd be an easy kill?' she asked.

'Well, he said you'd be easy to capture, I hoped I didn't kill you but said you should go down relatively easily,' said Silas boastfully.

'You idiot,' said Violetta and she was by his side in an instant, pressing the stake against his heart.

'I am not vampire or werewolf, or witch or fairy. I am immortal, I am age old, I fight for everything good and I watch over the world. The only person who would ever be able to kill me is the man you so foolishly put your trust in. He knew you wouldn't make it out alive and he didn't care. You are collateral damage and you will end up in hell,' she hissed and she slowly staked Silas. She watched as he mummified and then with a flick of her wrist, watched as he burnt away leaving a patch of ash on the floor. She got rid of the ash and then left the place.

She staggered off the island and by a miracle made it back to Mystic Falls in record time. The wound on her side was still leaking blood and if she had been a human she would have been long dead by now. She wanted to head home but knew that everyone would have gathered at the Salvatore Boarding House. She knew she'd been gone several days by now.

She opened the door, her vision blurring as she took in the group before her.

'Damon,' she whispered as she dropped to the floor.
