Chapter 16
"This will be a good fight" said Hinata to Yugito who nodded in agreement as their boyfriend and former classmate stood across from each other
Across from them team seven were also watching "this will be an interesting match"
"how can you tell Shino" asked Sakura "for one thing Sakura we saw just how powerful Uzumaki san was if her son is even a quarter as strong this Z fellow will have his work cut out for him"
Naruto and Z stared at each other their eyes narrowed in concentration "no holding back old friend I want to enjoy kicking your butt" Z said
"Same to you old friend" said Naruto
"you may cough begin" said Hayate leaping back
Z leapt at Naruto cocking his fist back his hand becoming black as iron as he punched Naruto in the stomach our favorite Uzumaki went flying before exploding into a cloud of smoke
Z's eyes darted across the arena "found you" Z said leaping into the air his fist clashed with a kunai the two separated with Naruto and Z sliding against the ground
"I see the Yamatanzo clan's taijutsu style is as strong as ever" Guy said
"taijutsu style guy sensei" asked Lei "yes lei the tetsu ken or Iron fist is a taijutsu style similar to the Goken that we use but their style requires many years of meditation and chakra control exercises for it to be used properly"
"I see" said Lei
"so Arashi I think we're done warming up" Z asked a smile on his face Naruto nodded and unsheathed Fu Ryo no Yaiba a beautifully crafted silver Jian with a message carved into the middle of the blade
Watashi wa akirame ni shiyou to akirame (give up on trying to make me give up)
Z smiled before he began making hand signs and slamming his hand to the ground "summoning jutsu" he called the familiar seal appeared on the ground along with a poof of smoke held in Z's hand was a fifteen inch Jitte with an earth brown handle and a dark grey blade
"now let's get started Z" this time Naruto charged first stabbing at Z with his sword but Z blocked the attack and pushed Naruto back before charging the blade of his Jitte became black as he held it above his head
"iron tremor" Z slammed it into the ground a shockwave surged through the earth towards Naruto who leapt onto the wall then into the air his sword glowed a faint blue as he swung it at Z
A blade of wind flew down on him Naruto then let loose a stream of fire from his mouth igniting the wind blade Z slashed the firey arc down the middle before leaping at Naruto slashing at Naruto who parried his attacks as the two Kumo genin clashed in the air
Sarutobi watched the battle between the two kumo genin reminded of his many sparring matches with Homura and Danzo when they were genin
Other jonin were also reminded of their times as genin watching the two battle with all their hearts and souls
Naruto thrusted his sword through Z's shoulder surprised when Z turned brown and began crumbling apart like a statue "an earth clone but when" Naruto asked as he was he was hit from behind by Z sending him flying into a wall Z landed as dust rained down on the field
"proctor don't call the fight just yet that move wouldn't have finished him"
"Ice style ice age" the ground became coated in a thick layer of ice as Naruto leapt out sliding across the ice like he was skating his fist glowing a bright blue
"Thunder style thunder fist jutsu" Z's fist became black as threw his own punch meeting Naruto's head on a shock wave filled the room breaking the ice
Naruto and Z leapt apart both of them panting but even on their sweaty exhausted faces they were smiling
"thunder style man you are always lucky"
"me lucky"
"dude how are you not lucky with your moves with the ladies your skills as a ninja you got to go on a A rank after what a week as a genin and your not as butt ugly as I am sure I've got you beat in the brains department but hey you can't have it all"
"ok the comment on my stupidity aside you should ask Haruka out already you two have liked each other as long as I've known you"
"you know what I'll ask Haruka out" Z held out his Jutte the blade became black "if you beat me"
"Yes I can win the pot" Naruto said his blade glowing bright blue as he made a hand sign with the other hand
"ARASHI YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO TEL Z ABOUT THE BETTING POOL" Yugito yelled
"Oh right I forgot"
"who else was in it" asked Z "um everyone"
"everyone" Naruto nodded
"Karui Omoi Hinata Yugito" Naruto nodded "Takeshi Shigeru" Naruto nodded "yeah even Minato put in one of his teething toys"
"Seriously he's not even a year old yet" Z said
"We gave it back" Naruto said his feet glowing with chakra "storm style boost kick" Naruto said kicking the floor propelling him through the air
Z's legs became black as he launched himself through the air too the two flew towards each other ready to attack when Z pushed him out of the way Naruto went rolling across the floor when he stood up what he saw would haunt him for the rest of his life
Z was on his knees a kunai was lodged in his shoulder "Z" Naruto yelled running to his friend Z let out a something between a scream and a cry before he raised his Jutte into the air and thrusted it
As it pierced the floor Z's grip on the blade Z let go falling face fist to the ground Naruto rolled him over and looked into his friends eyes but instead of the playful calculating eyes of his best friend all he saw was the lifeless look of the dead
Medics raced onto the arena and carried away the body Naruto just stood there he couldn't move from the spot Z was dead
"Due to the unfortunate incident the preliminaries are over all genin who won or haven't fought yet please come down"
All the genin gathered all but Naruto he felt a hand on his shoulder "Arashi san please stand up what would your friend say if he saw you like this" said Lei that Konoha girl he saw fight Sasuke
Naruto let out a small laugh "he'd make some joke and I should get up" Naruto said standing up "thank you Lei san" the girl with multicolored hair nodded and led Naruto over to the other genin
"for those of you who haven't fought please step forward" seven genin stepped forward
"Win Lei Gaara Dosu Kinuta Neji Hyuga Hinata Yotsuki and Kiame Inuzuka it is unfair I know but only four more of you may enter the finals and you will be chosen based on your individual results in the first and second exams"
Over to the side Ibiki Anko and Hayate were talking and walked over with a list "those four are Inuzuka Kiame"
A girl about thirteen with short brown hair fang like tattoos wearing a red kimono top over a mush undershirt black pants and purple sandals smiled petting a dog that looked like a hybrid between a hyena and a bull dog
"Hinata Yotsuki" Hinata smiled
"Gaara" the short red head simply nodded
"and Neji Hyuga" the main branch heir smirked arrogantly before nodding as well
"the third exam will happen in the Konoha arena in precisely thirty days the roster will be decided now"
A Chunin walked by with a box each of the genin took a number
"please state your number"
"five" said Shikamaru
"six" said Temari
"one" said Neji
"two" said Hinata
"three" said Yugito
"four" said Gaara
"seven" said Shino
"nine" said Sasuke
"eight" said Naruto
"ten" said Sakura
"eleven" said Kiame
"I've got Twelve" said Kiba
"Lucky thirteen for me" said Aina
"excellent this will be the order that you fight in may your villages be proud of your actions in thirty days now dismissed"
Back at the hotel room Kushina held out her arms without word Naruto ran into them crying uncontrollably Hinata and Yugito bowed their heads tears flowing down their eyes one thought on all their minds
Z Yamatanzo was dead
This chapter came easily to me the hard part was writing Z's fight and death I hope you enjoyed
