THE BLACK EAGLE

Chapter 13: Severus Snape

BENEATHE HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY

"Mentor," all three boys said as they did the classic Assassin's bow of respect to their teacher.

Severus Snape returned the gesture. He was dressed in his assassin's robes like he had done when he was initiated into the order. All three boys stood there as he slowly walked around them inspecting them of anything out of the ordinary.

"Hold out your wands," he said

All three pulled out a wand each and Severus inspected each and every one of them. Smirking to himself he took the wands from all three boys and laid them flat in his palm.

"Haria!" he said

The wands glowed a bright gold color before fading back to their normal sheen. Handing them back to the three boys he then put his hand on their heads muttering a few words in what the boys recognized as Arabic Snape then moved away from them.

"There now that the child protection locks are removed the Ministry of Magic has no control over you," he said.

"What do you mean?" Harry asked.

"When you first receive your letter of acceptance from Hogwarts a spell is put into place. That spell is a tracking charm meant to find you in case of any more accidental magic. Now mind you that is mainly to prevent any rogues from doing any damage with their magic. But for all its uses to protect children from accidentally killing their parents it poses harm for children of the brotherhood. So we have to remove it," Snape said as he moved away.

"Tell me what are the tenets of the Creed?" he asked.

"Stay your blade from the flesh of the innocent. Hide in Plain Sight. Don't compromise the Brotherhood." All three boys recited.

"Good," he said as he walked around.

"Do you know why we magicals are trained separately from the normals?" Snape asked.

"Because our powers can do great harm as well as great good," Draco said.

"Yes that is exactly it," said Snape then walked away beckoning them to follow.

"When the Assassins were first officially recognized was back during the time of the Crusades. The first Hashashin to officially create the order into an organized brotherhood did so with the intention of training both Magical and Normal students. Working side by side with each other for a better cause. That cause is the free will of all men, women and children. The right to choose and govern for themselves. What you don't know is, is that the Magical part was well known up until the time of Rashid ad-Din Sinan also known as Al-Mualim who had a hatred for magic. It was not known at the time that he was in league with the Knights Templar to rid the Holy Land of its so called taint."

His walking ceased as he stopped before a rather barren wall. "Open" he said and the wall opened to reveal another chamber. This one completely different then the one they entered. For starters it was dry and not dripping with water. The second is that it is full of books from top to bottom.

"Where are we mentor?" asked Ron.

"We are in the real Chamber of Secrets that out there was just a ruse meant to deter people from entering the actual training grounds of Salazar Slytherin. One of the brothers who had taken it upon himself to train Magical Assassins in England." Snape replied.

The chamber had a ring with rails going around it. The Assassin's Symbol etched into the ground like a beacon to any who wish to train. There were cauldrons and jars upon jars of ingredients some the boys don't recognize at all.

On the walls there were old tapestries of places long since forgotten such as a castle in the mountains. A city in the jungle and a strange wall in the mountains somewhere.

The boys continued to explore the area until a whistle from Snape had them running back to their master.

"Now that you have seen the area around you let me make myself clear. These chambers are here for one purpose only and that is to train you to become the assassins you will one day become. Headmaster Dumbledore is the Grandmaster of the Magical branch of the Templar Order. And as such he has control of pretty much anything Magically related as far as regulations and rules. Because he is also the Supreme Mugwump, Senior Warlock and such titles he is a very powerful man and a powerful wizard. You must remember never to let him know who you really are. I will teach you how to protect your mind from his influence while you are training under me. Our Order is in desperate need of new recruits so I would imply that you study your regular homework here as well," Snape said.

"Yes sir," they said.

"Now since this is a school night you boys will not be training for the time being. When this weekend comes however you will be here to train. Training is two days a week for now since you are new to the magical education and then will increase each month you are here at this school. So for now you will be off to your dorm rooms. When you come here next you will meet the gatekeeper of this place. She will very much like to meet you," Severus said then pointed to several doors behind him. "Take these back to your dorms so that way you don't get caught," with that he watched as they ran for the doors marked with their house crest.

As soon as they were gone a large figure slithered up to him from the shadows.

"What do you think my friend?" Snape asked.

"They are young but they are strong Severus. The Potter boy however is tainted with dark magic I can sense the essence of Tom Riddle on him," the Basilisk said.

"I know Amida but there is nothing I can do about it yet. I still do not have all the ingredients I need for the extraction," Snape replied.

"What else do you need that has to be acquired," the Basilisk Amida said.

"I need a rare item found in Egypt a glass stone forged in dragon fire. And lastly I need the blood of a phoenix," Severus said.

"You have a phoenix upstairs why don't you use him?" Amida replied.

"Because Fawkes is protected by Dumbledore's magic. He is a slave to the wizard who uses him for his own purposes. To 'Rally the Light' he says but in actuality it is to control the Magical world to his own whim. So I am looking for a particular type of phoenix this one found in the deserts of Mongolia. The Eastern Phoenix is a phoenix that is protected by its own wild magic. Trying to get its blood would be agonizing. I have to ask for its permission before I can extract it if not then the consequences will be dire," Severus replied.

"All this trouble for the blood of a phoenix?" Amida replied

"Not just any phoenix the queen of them all! If Harry is afflicted with the soul of another I need all the help I can get. The only question is how do I summon it for its blood?" Severus said.

"Perhaps the ancient Library of Altair will help? I've heard that two of your own people have rediscovered it," Amida replied.

"Ah of course! I totally forgotten about that!" Snape said and went to open the doorway.

SLYTHERIN COMMON ROOM

Draco Malfoy had just returned to his dorm room. The secret passage led directly to the common room and since it is lights out Draco quickly made his way to his room. Using stealth Draco managed to slip into his room unnoticed. When he did he quickly changed into his sleeping clothes and was about to crawl in.

It was only at the last minute that he noticed something was wrong with his bed.

It was covered in something nasty and reeked of it as well.

"Who did this Blaise?" Draco said sensing someone behind him and judging from the direction of the sound it was Blaise Zabini.

"Crabbe and Goyle did it to pay you back for what you did to them earlier today." Blaise said.

"And you agree with them?" Draco asked.

"No, you were only doing what you thought best, but why defend a mudblood and a blood traitor?" Blaise asked.

"Ask yourself this, why is what you are is so important as compared to who you are on the inside. To me no matter if a witch or wizard is a blood traitor or a mudblood, or a pureblood we are all the same, Human at least that is what I had learned. So tell me am I a blood traitor for thinking on my own," Draco said.

"No, you are not," Blaise said in defeat.

"Then how do I clean my bed?" Draco asked.

"Just summon one of the house elves to do it," Blaise said.

"Thanks," Draco finished as he turned and summoned one of the elves. After seeing the bed the elf snapped its fingers and disappeared letting Draco finally curl up in bed.

It was going to be a long week.

GRYFFINDOR COMMON ROOM

Harry and Ron had managed to sneak back into the common room. Since it was lights out there was no one there except one figure.

Oliver Wood.

The Prefect was well aware of where the boys went and held up his hand with his ring finger lowered. Ron and Harry knew from that simple gesture that he was an Assassin novice like they were.

"I figured you boys were off to meet the mentor," Oliver said.

"Why didn't you tell us that you were one of the Order?" Ron said but Harry shushed him.

"Sorry I did not know that you too were recruits. It was only after the fact when Professor Snape told us of your recruitment that he had us run interference just in case someone would discover your disappearance." Oliver replied.

"So what are you doing now?" asked Harry

"For now I am to make sure you made it safely back to the common rooms alright then I am to resume my patrols around the school to let the others know you are fine. Maybe one day we can train together?" Oliver said.

"That sounds wicked!" Ron said excitedly.

"Good so then off to bed boys remember tonight's a school night so you need your strength." Oliver said and the boys quickly rushed towards their rooms to get to bed.

JERUSALEM

A door opened from the far corner of the room. Remus and Sirius both looked up at the same time.

Severus came walking in amazed by the door that had taken him to another part of the world.

"Safety and Peace friend" Malik's ghost said from behind him.

Severus turned in surprise as the ghost flew past him to return some scrolls to its proper place.

"Don't mind Malik he is the caretaker of this humble abode," Sirius said.

"All these years of trying to find lost knowledge and it was here the whole time," Severus said.

"Yes, it would seem that way," said a new voice and Severus immediately gave a bow of respect.

A man walked out from the shadows his white clothes made him look like a man who was going to a party more then what he really was.

"Grand Mentor," Severus said bowing.

"Rise Severus Snape you are amongst friends," the Mentor said as he came up and patted Severus on the shoulder.

"Many apologies Mentor it was just that when I had discovered that door I had no idea that you would be coming as well," Severus replied.

"I know, but desperate times call for desperate measures," the Mentor said as he walked down the hallway.

"What news of Hogwarts Severus," the Mentor asked.

"I had heard rumors amongst the house elves that Dumbledore plans on using Pettigrew to help a spy find where the Assassin Safe houses are," Severus said.

The Mentor looked troubled when he heard this, "Yes, I've been hearing the same thing. This spy from what I understand is a sleeper agent just like Pettigrew. A slave to the magic that Dumbledore can wield if he so wishes it."

Now Severus knew that this Mentor is no Magical but he is well versed in the Magical Arts. He has to be to be able to coordinate between the Magical and Non Magical Assassins. When he had heard that there was a sleeper agent amongst them he began to search amongst those who would be dubbed traitor. Severus had heard such Rumors and wanted to confirm it himself amongst his peers if such a danger was possible.

"I would advise also to check this room to ensure that no one here is a traitor," Severus said.

"There is no need for that," Malik's voice said as he floated towards them.

"Altair and I placed some very heavy wards around this library. Any one who is not true to the Creed or is a danger to the Brotherhood would be revealed here. Animagi who try to spy on us will be revealed as well as concealer charms will be nullified. It would take some very powerful magic to break the wards. I will assure you of it," Malik had some strong convictions in his voice.

"Thank you for your assurance Malik you advice is noted," the Mentor said.

The ghost of the former Dai floated off to do whatever task needs to be done and to correct whoever had misplaced anything back to its proper place.

"So Mentor what are we going to do about the Potter boy? He has dark magic tied to his soul thanks to Tom Riddle. The boy needs to be cleansed before I can proceed to train him further in our ways," Severus said.

"Well I've heard that you are trying to find the blood of the Hinotori Phoenix. I happen to ask Malik if he had heard of it and he has a sample of blood from the creature." the Mentor asked.

Severus's eyes lit up, "How?" he asked.

"Altair when he was visiting Mongolia had stumbled across the creature when it was captured by Ghangus Khan. In exchange it gave some of its blood for him as well as its tears and feathers and a good portion of it too. So you can ask Malik for a small sample to take to make the ritual that would cleanse young Harry of the taint. Then when it is finished he then must really begin his training," the Mentor said.

"It shall be done," Severus said.

"Oh and one more thing," the Mentor said.

"What is it Mentor?" Severus asked.

"William Miles has had a son," the Mentor said.

"And why should I be concerned with someone whom I've not met?" Severus inquired.

The Mentor looked at him squarely in the eyes and it shown how serious it is, "Because he is Magical the first of his line in over a few centuries," he said.

"Really?" Severus inquired.

"Yes, walk with me Severus." the Mentor said.

Severus walked alongside the Mentor as he walked up the stairs and out of the library. The abandoned Bureau was being cleaned up to its former glory. Severus noted the many Assassins working to restore the shelves and place computerize equipment where it can be placed. He noted that the new IBM and Mac computers are whirling with activity as the kept watch on satellites and news broadcasts.

The Mentor led him outside on the roof of the old building not having to worry about being detected thanks to a specialize Fidelius Charm Severus can breathe some fresh air in peace. This particular charm he had studied shifts the dimensional plain so instead of just hiding visual a certain place. It completely hides it from the view of any sort of technological tracking devices. Namely satellites and surveillance technology.

He was told before that technology nowadays can find magical hideouts and expose them to the mundane world. So Altair in his paranoia had this Bureau completely hidden from view with the most powerful of Magic and had added some dampeners to make sure that no one can detect the enchantments at work.

When they had gotten to the roof of the building the Mentor then turned to Severus.

"So you've never heard of William Miles," the Mentor said.

"No, I have not," Severus replied.

"William Miles is the Mentor of the South Dakota branch of Assassins in the United States. He has a training facility dubbed 'The Farm' hidden in the Rocky Mountains. There he trains new Assassins in complete isolation and sends them out into the field. I've heard that you have been there sometime ago. To put up some wards. Since Jacobs died William has turned that facility into more of a training ground. Some of our best have came from there. The only problem is that pretty much all of them are Non-Magical. There hasn't been anyone who is of Magical Descent who was ever trained at the Farm. Your kind is rare enough as it is and those that are born into the Order or are picked up by the Order as usually sent to other facilities in the country. Now I fear we have lost that as well." the Mentor sighed.

"What do you mean?" Severus said.

"The only facility we had left to teach assassin children with magical abilities in America has been hit. Their mentor a man named De-Louse was killed by Templars in a raid not too long ago. He was a teacher at the Yellowstone school of Gifted Children. He taught Care of Magical Creatures there which allowed him access to some serious training grounds deep within the forest that the school is noted for. However thanks to those sleeper agents they managed to find him and kill him along with all the magically inclined children. Now thankfully the Mundane populous thinks that it is just one huge forest fire. But we know differently and now William finally spilled the beans about his son being magical," the Mentor said.

"Why didn't he mention it before?" Severus said, "It is his duty as a mentor and an Assassin to report these things?"

"Yes, I know that Severus! And yet William refuses to acknowledge that his son his magical. Already the boy is showing signs of magical prowess his mother reportedly said so. She is after all a descendant of Altair and Arno Dorian while he his a descended of both Ezio Auditore and the Kenway line," the Mentor said.

"Shit! Those are some powerful lines mixed in it is a wonder that William himself or his wife is not magical." Severus said.

"Those bloodlines had been without magic for over two hundred years. The last of William's line to have magic was Connor Kenway's youngest daughter Samantha. She had the gift but anyone after that was non magical. As for his mother's bloodline Arno Dorian was the last to have magical properties then they were mundane for two centuries. Now with their son he is proving to be a powerful magical along with the Potter boy," the Mentor said.

"What shall we do then? The boy needs to be trained Mentor if not once he reaches magical maturity he could very well hurt someone on accident!" Severus warned.

"I know that is why I wanted to talk to you. I will be sending Remus to help with giving the boy the basics for now to at least control his powers. But once he becomes of age I want him to train officially with you," the Mentor replied.

"That is out of the question Mentor! I already have a position at a prestigious magical school. I can't risk exposure to train one child? What about my other students?" Severus replied.

"The boy will train with your recruits. The time difference between South Dakota and England would go perfectly with his schedule. I will have him transported here then to Hogwarts for you to teach the boy how to control his magical abilities. For now you have time to prepare because he is only a small child of four. You have three other students right now that you are teaching?" the Mentor asked.

"Actually seven the three boys Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, and Draco Malfoy along with Oliver Wood, Andrea Wilkson, Penelope Clearwater, and Kathryn Rodriges. The three boys are the newest recruits," Severus said.

"Excellent! They will make great assassins someday. How many more years till they graduate from Hogwarts?" asked the Mentor.

"Kathryn will graduate this year, two more years for Oliver, Andrea and Penelope the three boys are just starting their training," Severus said.

"Good that is the most we'd had since you lot came into our humble abode. Now then Severus I want you to examine the boy when the time is right from a distance of course," the Mentor said.

"It shall be done," Severus replied.

When the mentor left Severus was stuck standing on the roof of the Bureau. He was thinking of the boy in America. How he would progress into a fine wizard if he had some training. Knowing how the Mentor thinks Severus was sure that the boy William Miles's son would in deed be great. Just like the Potter boy. Deciding to check up on the said American boy Severus remembered the Farm training facility all too well.

He had been there before but that was before William took over.

The Farm, South Dakota 1968

It was just after Severus had graduated from Hogwarts. He wanted to spend his time studying the various potion making arts of the magical world. As he was studying he was also to make contact with the various Bureau's around the world on his travels.

Today was one of those days.

He was flying in his newly acquired Animagus form. That of an African Black Eagle only the beak and feathers were pure black.

He had landed on a tree overlooking the facility where they trained young Assassins. As he looked down from his perch on the tree he could see that from the front the Farm was just like any old farm with cows and fields of crops surrounding it. A typical farm.

But looks can be deceiving.

Severus knew that the training facility that was hidden from view thanks to a few charms placed on the farm. Not many people can see it of course since it is an illusion charm but Severus is a Magical and as such he can see right through the illusion.

For now the eagle sits on top of a branch watching the recruits train in the back of the farm safe from outside view. There was no magical assassins here because as everyone knows that it is rare for one of the order to have such talents. The most well known ones were the famous mentors Altair Ibn-La'Ahad, Malik Al-Sayf, Mario Auditore, Ezio Auditore and Edward and Connor Kenway. They had been the famous mentors and then there were a few others who were well known such as Arno Dorian and Yamato Isemoto of Japan.

Now though as far as Magical Assassins were concerned they were the most guarded secret the Order has ever seen. The Templars don't know their identities and they like to keep it that way.

Severus flew onto a rooftop of one of the many buildings. He was enjoying the view and the mountain peaks behind it.

The reason why the eagle was hear actually was because he had a message to the American branch of Assassins by the Mentor himself. Severus was on the lookout for a particular fellow who just happens to be the head mentor of this facility. Severus switched to eagle vision scanning the crowds till at last he came upon the man. A dark skinned fellow with graying hair and of African descent.

Severus's eagle vision gave him the distinctive notion that this was his target. The man he was to deliver the message to.

Flying down Severus made a distinct call. The man looked up in alarm as Severus swooped down. Right before he landed he transformed back into his human form.

Alarmed the man reached for his gun but Severus knew this before hand and so took a customary bow of respect. And gave the hand sign for the Assassins a raised left hand with the ring finger lowered.

"Safety and Peace Mentor," he said.

The man's grip on his gun lessened as he straightened out, "Safety and Peace friend? What can I do for you?" the mentor replied.

It was nearly a hour after Severus gave his message that he was exploring the Farm. The mentor was right beside him. He had learned that the mentor's name was Mathew Jacobs a man of African Descent in deed. He was leading the farm facility to keep the new recruits coming. However it concerned him that there are no fresh faces. He had explained to Severus that most of the children here were children of Assassins but none fresh off the streets.

Severus had told him of the situation in Europe and the growing Magical Templar threat.

"They are everywhere!" Jacobs said, "It was by luck that we had the rituals placed on our farm or we would have been discovered long ago!"

Severus knew what he was talking about. Every Assassin abode had the same spells cast to prevent them from ever being seen. However Severus knew that all the Templars needed was for a magical to lay eyes on it and all would be revealed. Or some sort of enchanted eye wear.

He walked around inspecting the enchantments to see if they had held which they had that was good. Turning again to the old man was watching him as Severus applied a few more enchantments to the circle surrounding the farm.

"What are you doing my friend?" The mentor asked curiously.

"Our Grand Mentor has asked me to strengthen your concealment charms and to add some extra magical security to further protect you from harm. Which I am glad I am doing seeing as you have young children here with you," Severus added.

"A wise decision my friend and I thank you for it." Jacobs said.

"You're welcome however I do have to return every thirty years to reenact the enchantments on the Farm." Severus said.

"Why is that?" asked Jacobs

"Because this enchantment is temporary just in case of attack so the closer it gets to the expiration date the less the enchantment protects. So when that time comes I will have to do the ritual again. Unless however you find another assassin that is magical to do it for you," Severus replied.

"I see thank you my friend and can I have your name?" Jacobs asked.

"Severus, Severus Snape from the English Magical Branch of Assassins," Severus replied.

PRESENT DAY

Severus remembered that day and it was about ten years later that Jacobs died of cancer. He did not know who took over the farm at the time because by then he was already a professor at Hogwarts. Dumbledore had forbidden the use of any mundane devices in the facility because he made people claim that they do not work with magic.

That was a total lie.

Ordinary devices do work with magic it is just a different source of energy. Severus knows this because he too has some mundane items in his possession that still work. The heavy enchantments around the school only enhance the devices and they don't require a plug or outlet to fuel them. The magical saturation was enough to give them the power they need to remain functional. The only time it becomes a danger is when someone places a deliberate enchantment on an item like say for instance a car or a toaster. Severus shutters at the thought of an idiot who would do that.

The only reason why Dumbledore forbidden anyone from using it is because the less people know the less they will have to revolt against him. The magical world in England as well as in Europe have fallen to such a degenerative state. That they are powerless against the influence of the Templars.

Other parts of the world such as the Middle East, Far East, the Americas, Australia and Polynesia have all have the luxury of modern technology with magic mixed into their lives. Thus they can blend in more refined then their European Counter parts.

Coming out of his thoughts Severus surveyed Jerusalem in all its modern glory. The call to prayer could be heard in the distance for the Muslim Populace. Severus knew of course that those who are Muslim would be getting out their rugs for prayer. The Mosques would be going through their rituals to see how many would be showing their graces to Allah.

Severus was more then inclined to watch them from the towers. But he has a mission to fulfill first before retiring for the night. Going back the way he came he walked back down towards the Library where he saw the specter that is Malik busy working to keep the library in order.

"Safety and Peace Grandmaster Malik," Severus said politely.

The ghost turned, "Safety and Peace brother what do I owe this pleasure."

"I have come to ask for your advice ancient one. You see I wanted to know how best to extract the blood of the Hinotori phoenix for a ritual I need to do on one of my students," Severus said.

Malik flew closer, "You wish to ask how to best perform the cleansing ritual?"

"Yes, I am sure you have heard the conversation between myself and the Grand Mentor?" Severus asked.

"Ah yes, your Al-Mualim has already expressed his concern for the boy. Well then I just happen to remember that particular ritual myself," Malik said as he floated towards the center of the room.

Severus followed till he was at last in the center of the room.

"Years ago Darim had a similar problem one that required Altair to perform the same ritual to cleanse his son of the taint that was Genghis Khan. Turns out the bastard did not know how to use a magical object correctly and had chopped his soul up into pieces. They formed Horcruxes by accident and so Altair had to destroy them all before he could kill the man. But not before one of the pieces hit Darim. Now he did not know it at the time so when they returned the first thing they did was cleanse Darim. Well it was a long ritual and thankfully he had the blood of the Hinotori Phoenix with him to help him through it. Now I had to do one myself when he was gone but I did not have such powerful blood. So the brother who had to be cleansed touched a tainted magical object on one of his missions and was cursed. So I am well versed in the ritual you have to take to clean your novice," Malik replied.

"So can you help me then with the ritual?" Severus replied.

"Of course I can help! In fact you can bring him here to this room and I can have everything set up for you to perform the ritual!" Malik said excited to actually do something useful in a long time.

Severus was excited when he heard that. Finally he will be able to perform the ritual without stumbling in the dark. Finally they can get rid of that piece of Tom Riddle once and for all.

Severus left after speaking to Malik more on the what the ritual inquires and what is needed. Satisfied there was one more trip Severus has to do before returning to Hogwarts.

Apparating to a forested scene he quickly transformed into his Animagus form and flew towards the one place he was told to check out.

The Farm as the Assassins called it was hidden away in the forests of South Dakota well away from prying eyes. Since the wards there would recognize him as friendly they would do him no harm and he will not be discovered.

The Mentor has mentioned for him to observe William Mile's son before Severus could make an assessment. Flying low over the trees the eagle surveyed all below him and without disturbing a single creature landed on a pine tree well hidden from view. He observed the people of the farm frantically running around calling someone. The eagle cocked its head listening with sensitive ears.

"Desmond! Desmond!" a woman was frantically shouting.

Others were out looking for the said child as the Eagle listened in.

"We have to find him! Oh my God DESMOND!" She yelled.

Looking around Severus scanned the landscape and found no trace of this 'Desmond.'

A middle aged man came running out of his home, "Any luck?" he said to the woman.

"No, he can't just sneak out of the house Will! I just placed him in his room for his nap when he just vanished!" the woman screamed.

Will? Could he be William Miles the new Mentor? Severus thought as he zeroed in on his face.

Sure enough the man carried himself indeed like a mentor.

So that is William Miles! So Desmond must be his magical son! Severus thought and if the boy had truly disappeared then he must have accidentally apparated somewhere. Knowing magical children they usually disappeared not too far from home.

Taking off Severus circled the area flying higher and higher so that he can be able to see. He also circled farther and farther away hoping to catch a glimpse of the child.

Sure enough he found the boy a bit aways from the facility. In fact the boy was huddled around a cliff face. Not revealing himself Severus landed on a tree nearby. There he saw a bear approaching the boy with the intent to eat him. The boy was crying as he was forced against the rocks.

Without thinking Severus dove in for the attack and drove his claws into the face of the bear. The bear reared up in alarm as the eagle sunk his talons into the creature. Taken by surprise the Bear tried to fight off the bird. But Severus will not have it as the bear began to run away from the mad bird. Taking off Severus soared above the boy again.

Knowing he can't reveal himself he landed gracefully in his bird form. The boy was intrigued by the bird. Severus knew he was rather larger for an African Black Eagle seeing as he was the size of a Golden Eagle if not larger.

Severus allowed himself to be petted by the boy who was hesitant to do so.

Seeing as the child was not going to speak Severus leaped onto the boy's shoulders and with a mighty heave was airborne again.

The boy watched as the black eagle soared back towards the farm with him being held gently.

MEANWHILE

William Miles was distraught seeing as his son had disappeared yet again. This time however as he entered the room he found to his delight his son Desmond sleeping soundly on his bed looking worse for wear. His sleeping clothes were dirty but William did not mind as he changed the boy and gave him a kiss on the forehead. It was when he was pulling away that he had found the black feather laid out on the bed next to the boy. It looked like it had fallen from somewhere and when William picked it up he was astonished by the size of it.

Looking at Desmond's sleeping face he could tell that whoever left that feather was a friend. So he kept the feather next to the boy hoping that would prevent Desmond from ever disappearing again.

NOT FAR FROM THE FARM

High on a large redwood tree Severus watched the man place the feather next to his sleeping child. It was a good think that Severus put anti apparition wards around the room. That would hopefully help with keeping the child form accidental apparation again. Glad the crisis was over Severus flew off away from the farm. Returning to the cliff face where he fought the bear he transported himself back to Jerusalem and then to Hogwarts from the door in the library.

Entering the chamber he quickly changed back into his professor robes and then entered another door to his room. When he had gotten there he managed to slip into the bathing area and took a nice long bath before retiring for the night.

THE FARM SOUTH DAKOTA

Four Year old Desmond Miles woke to the sounds of people walking around and doing their normal training exercises. His encounter from the day before had shaken him quite a bit. Looking around there was no sign of the eagle that had saved him. He went to the window but the bird was nowhere to be seen. Casting his eyes down he dejectedly went to retrieve his shoes before heading down stairs. It was only when he turned towards the bed that he discovered the feather on his pillow.

Picking it up Desmond examined the large feather and a smile lit his face. He ran his fingers over the feather and felt its soft touch on his face. He felt safe now that the bird was real. Putting it on the table under the lamp the boy made his way out to the kitchen.

Upon seeing his mother and father he ran up to them and hugged them both.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Desmond recited over and over.

Holding his son close William Miles just sat there comforting his boy. Knowing that whoever it was that saved his boy had been Magical so he did not say a single word to his boy just glad he was home safe.

It was not till years later that William came to realize that his son's potential as a Magical would one day change the course of the world.

Whew! I figured I get that one out for ya! So what do you think? Severus Snape finally meeting Desmond Miles! Ok before any of your start to wonder. When Harry went to school was in the year 1991. So that means that Desmond who was born in 1987 was only four years old. A four year old kid doing accidental magic is a bit disturbing so I had Severus go in there to do an assessment of Desmond.

Lol the worlds do collide don't they.

Ah well
