Danny knew it was about to hit the fan as Frank stepped in and shut the door. "You're still seeing her. All this time, against her father's wishes, behind my back. Why?"

Jamie didn't have to look up to know his face read guilt all over but also knew he'd have to face his father eventually so deciding to get it over with Jamie gave Eddie's hand a squeeze looking up.

"Because I love her dad that's why," Jamie admitted finally finding his voice.

"And because you knew it was against the rules to date her while your partners isn't that right officer Reagan ?"

Jamie sighed nodding his answer with a soft reply "yes sir."

Frank was hurt his son had to sneak around just so he could see Eddie instead of coming to talk with him. The commissioner studied his youngest leaning over the bed where his hurt partner lay still.

Jamie gave Eddie's hand a soft squeeze before turning his attention back to his father waiting for a lecture on knowingly breaking the rules and how disappointed frank was.

To his surprise the lecture never came; instead Frank slowly approached the bed quiet for a full minute. "You could have come and talked to me son I thought you knew that, I thought you all knew that."

"Your still my boss and since you don't want to show preferential treatment I knew what we faced," Jamie argued his case low.

Frank took the argument with a soft nod knowing in a way Jamie was right. In order to show he didn't give his boys preferential treatment Jamie's punishment might have been more then he would give other cops but at least he'd be honest with him.

"I want you to know you can still talk to me Jamie I'll always be on your side son. Do you care about Edit a lot?"

Without hesitation Jamie nodded that he did involuntarily smiling at her name. "I want you to be happy Jamie and if she does that then I wish you two the best," frank offered softly.

Jamie quickly eyed his father surprised it was that easy to get his blessing thinking there was more to it. "That's it even if we broke the rules?"

Giving his son a warm smile Frank approached his son and the injured officer. "Jamie, I am not happy that you broke the rules but I understand for you to do all this, keeping this secret for so long you must really feel for her. We have lost to many loved ones and I won't let that happen to you. Just next time come talk to me son."

"Thanks dad, I really appreciate it," Jamie said still surprised his father approved so easily.

"Take care of your girl Jamie, just let officer Janko know we came by to see how she's feeling. I'll check on you later son." Frank patted his son's broad shoulders before leaving the room right past Danny who just returned. On his way out Frank raised a knowing eyebrow at his oldest before leaving.

Danny took the opportunity to let himself into the room stopping just by the foot of the bed. "So I hear you got lucky with dad kid."

"Yea thanks for not telling him Danny we really appreciate it." Jamie sighed actually feeling relieved the secret was out and they no longer had to sneak around. If Eddie woke up.. Jamie bitterly admonished himself for thinking like that. When she wakes up Jamie can go to Sunday dinner with him and meet the family.

With one large step Danny moved closer to his brother nodding at Jamie's comment. "Of course I'd keep it kid you're my little brother. Hey make sure you take care of her okay, I'll call you later." Danny gave Eddie's leg a pat and walked out to meet his partner.

Alone in the room Jamie squeezed Eddie's hand gently brushing his finger over the back of her hand.

"Hey Eddie, my dad and brother just came by to see you they said get better. My dad is okay with us dating so I'd like to take you to Sunday dinner you just need to wake up."

A low groan escaped Eddie's lips as the medication started to wear off. Her eyelids fluttered fighting the urge to sleep, finally looking over towards Jamie feeling his hand rubbing hers.

"Hey Jamie," she croaked tiredly.

"Hey how do you feel?" Jamie moved onto the bed to brush a piece of blond hair away from her eyes allowing him to kiss her softly.

Eddie met his eyes her own twinkling with water glad he was there. "Like crap," she admitted.

Jamie smiled softly at her holding her hand on his lap voice soft. "Get some rest I'll be right here

"Hows Eddie doing kid," Renzulli questioned taking a bite from his hot dog on Jamie's first day back after the incident.

With Eddie still recovery Jamie has been riding with Renzulli again which he doesnt mind.

"Shes okay recovering to slow for her she wants to get back on the street," Jamie replied after taking a drink of water.

Renzulli's advice was cut off by their radio coming alive despite being on meal. "12 Sergeant you have a 10-2 ow with orders to 1pp forthwith."

With one raised eyebrow at his partner Renzulli confirmed the order. Looking back he realized Jamie was looking at him curiously.

"Whatcha looking at me for start driving," Renzulli laughed nervous to find out why there being pulled off patrol.

Baker wasnt at her desk where they usually found her to greet visitors. Jamie knocked gently on the double doors before he pushed them open.

Inside he found Frank and Baker both wearing dress blues. Jamie stopped first bringing his hand up in salute with Renzulli next to him doing the same.

"As you were, sorry for pulling you off patrol again but its important. Officer Reagan, how long have you been on patrol?" Frank returned the salute grateful to his officers who put their lives on the line every day.
