How Life's Rivers Flow

"So, Aidan, you want to go somewhere fun?" I asked, leaning against my brother's truck and waiting for him to respond from where he sat on the curb out in front of my apartment building. I had caught him walking past our set of buildings, steadily traipsing down the sidewalk. He didn't have anything to do, he had explained, but wanted to get out of his house so he just started walking.

I would have asked if he was afraid of getting lost, but if he was, I doubt he'd be doing it.

"Do you know anywhere fun to go?" he asked, scrapping his shoe across the pavement. He was dressed in the same pair of distressed jeans and Avenged Sevenfold t-shirt as he had been that day at school, though now without his leather jacket. His arms were covered in tattoos, mostly just patterns but with a few symbols or pictures here and there.

"Nope," I answered, tapping my fingers against the driver's door. "We could find something, though."

"I heard talk about a teen club somewhere downtown. Didn't hear a name or an address, though."

I opened the driver's door, finally getting tired of just waiting around like we had been for the past twenty minutes, "Downtown is enough for me to go on. Get in."

We walked down the street, Lobo's truck behind us in a random parking lot. I was searching everywhere, eyes scanning every sign we passed. So far, I saw nothing even close to a teen club. Passed a few bars, though, but Aidan told me no so we moved on.

"You sure about what you heard?"

"Asking the blind guy if he misheard something? I thought that and music were the two things we were good at."

"Are all blind guys this sure of themselves?"
"If they're anything like me, they better be."

The Pop Shop

Such a stupid name for a club. It wasn't even catchy. But at least it looked like it could be semi entertaining.

Aidan and I walked in, Aidan staying behind me while I observed the area. A dance floor, a concession stand, and some tables off to the side were all I could see in the dimly lit area. It seemed pretty quiet, not surprising since this was a Tuesday night. There were maybe ten others and the music was pumping through the entire building, but most weren't dancing, instead just hanging out or lost in their own little worlds.

"I think this place is a bust, Aidan," I spoke over the music. "We should come check it out this weekend, though."

"Where to now?" he asked, holding the door we just came through open for me.

I walked out, turning around to walk backwards for a few strides while I spoke to Aidan, "Well, we could-"

My body collided with someone else, their hands coming up to try and steady me while keeping their own balance. Neither of us fell, of course, as I pushed myself away from them with the balance of my weight and turned around.

It was Iggy with a smirk on his face, his hair still a hot mess, and his striking blue eyes full of amusement, "Walk much?"

"What are you doing out here…" I paused like I was trying to remember his name, "Iggy, was it?"

"Making my way to the weekday hot spot. Meaning not the lousy sweatshop you and Aids just walked out of. You're both new to town, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and believe that you just didn't know that that place is only good on Saturday nights when their weekend barkeep sells beers to those who will keep their mouths shut to the cops."

"What's this 'weekday hot spot' you're headed to?" Aidan asked, going to put his elbow on my shoulder but missing by about an inch so he just let his arm drop to his side.

"Follow me if you're really curious."
