Maya's POV

I sit on the couch texting Alice and Ellie, when Manny runs into the room frantically. She won't tell me what she's freaking out about.

"Man, why the hell are you acting like a crazy person?" I ask her, while changing the channel. The tv show that's on is totally boring.

Manny glares at me. "This is no laughing manner!" she yells at me. She moves some magazines from the table.

I grab the magazines from her hands. "What's wrong, sis?" I sternly ask her. I grab her wrist, this doesn't help.

She takes a deep breath. "M, my parents are coming to meet you," she calmly says. It takes me a moment to comprehend what she means. "They don't know anything about you. My parents hate every one of my friends, except Emma."

My eyes widen. Manny's parents are visiting. They are my new parents, so they are going to meet their horrible new daughter. I've done so much crap that they will hate me, I know it. My real parents hate me.

"They are going to hate me!" I cry.

Manny grabs my arm. I feel weak, suddenly. "Calm down, my parents aren't going to hate you, we both know that!"

I shake my head, not listening. "Everyone knows I went to rehab. It was all over the news! Who wants a screwed up teenager who tried to kill herself as a daughter?!" I start to cry. This is the first time in a while that I've cried.

At that moment, Jay walks through the door. "Hey, babe-" he looks at me. He turns to Manny. "What's wrong with Marie?" He comes up to me. His touch is foreign to me.

Manny shakes her head. "My parents are coming down to meet Marie, she's freaked out about all the crap that she's pulled." she explains. She moves me to the couch. My phone is blowing up with texts, but I ignore it. "She acts like she is a troublemaker."

Jay pulls Manny into a kiss. I can't help but gush for them. Even though I see them kiss all the time at the house, they really are a cute couple. "Remember the asshole crap we pulled going through high school?" he asks her.

They both start to laugh. "You got suspended and I was the school slut. The guys that we hung out with, like Spinner!" Manny laughs. Jay grabs the pillow from the couch. "Liberty, JT, Spinner, Emma, Jimmy. Oh my God, we have so many friends we need to invite over one day for dinner," she says.

I stand up, not wanting to listen to their crappy high school memoirs. "What does this have to do with our parents, Manny?" I sternly ask her. I'm getting irritated.

Manny looks at me funny. "Oh yeah, you were freaking out about Mom and Dad." she laughs. I just glare at her. "I'm saying that I did so much more stupid ass crap that our parents won't be pissed at you," she calms me down. "If we get this house cleaned up!"

M&C&M&C&M&C&M&C&M&C&M&C&M&C&M&C&M&C&M&C&M&C&M&C&M&C&M&C

Manny's parents come for dinner at five o'clock. The look like they do in the pictures. When mom sees me, she pulls into a long hug. She is an amazing hugger.

"It's our new baby girl!" she cries.

My dad places a hand on my shoulder. "I see that Manuella adopted you as her sister?" he asks me with a serious look. I nod, mouth too dry to speak. "Well, she did a good job raising you so far. Went to therapy, because you went through hell before you were adopted."

Manny just grins, arms wrapped around Jay. "Yep, she needed someone responsible to raise her, and I think that is me," Manny says, taking credit for my savoir. I'm not going to argue her, because she's right.

"My Manny is such a good role model, right Mr. Santos?" Jay says.

Papa Santos gives him a weird look. "Trying to butter me up, because you're going to marry my older daughter?"

"Yes, sir!"

"Well, stop it. You have already won us over," Papa Santos looks over to me. "Do you have a boyfriend, sweetie?"

I shake my head no. "Sorry, dad. I'm totally single." I admit, not telling them about Cam.

"Good job, sweetheart. Marie, you are going to be our good child, unlike Manuella. She was a troublemaker in high schooler." Mama Santos says.

During dinner, we talk about me, my interests, my dreams, my life. They want to know everything about me. They care about me a lot. This is not a feeling I'm use to. Jay and Manny are distracted with each other.

"So, how long until the wedding?" Mom asks Jay and Manny.

Manny smiles. "It's in about two months. I can't wait to be Mrs. Jason Hogart! Soon, we will have little Jays and Mannys running around the house!" Manny cheers.

Jay smiles. "I can't wait to see little us running around this big house! Your parents and Marie can watch them when we are busy," Jay says, just as excited as Manny.

Dad chokes on his stake. "What?" he says.

Mom spits out her wine. "You say what, kids! So soon?" she questions.

I laugh at them. "So, I get to be an aunt in about a year?" Manny and Jay nod. Joy overwhelms me. "Yes, I will babysit anytime you need me to. Can I spoil them, I really want to spoil your kids!" I cheer.

We finish dinner with talk about the wedding. My new parents are so kind to me. They have to leave because they are heading to Las Vegas. They do promise to call when they get there.

"So, dinner with the parents went well?" Manny asks after they left.

I nod. "It sure did!" I say with joy.
