Vectors and Vector Sigma 14
Well folks it's now up to chapter 14 as things change greatly for little Mayu and young Kohta. The procedure was a success but how will they react to their new roles in this great ongoing battle? Mayu also faces certain realizations about Daniel. Rating is the same as before. Enjoy...
-chapter 14 - The Master Process
-Kamakura Hospital
It was chaos at the hospital as doctors frantically tried to stabilize the two severely injured humans from the highway explosion. But despite setting any broken bones or surgically repairing any soft tissue damage both of their conditions kept getting worse. So far they were stabilized for now, but only with the intervention of modern medical technology.
Outside the ER in the waiting room were everyone else, from Nana to Carly to Spike and Chip. Yuka did her best to console her younger cousin who after bawling for an hour finally fell asleep. Alexis looked about ready to cry but still had the courage to ask the important question. The look on Lori's face implied the same question. ''Mom are Mayu and Kohta going to die?''
Her mother Mikaela wouldn't lie as she wasn't even sure of their survival either. ''I don't know dear... I can't honestly answer that. All we can do is hope. And hope they pull through.''
Lucy however looked at the chaos she helped make and it made her sick. Kohta was one of the nicest people she'd ever had the privilege of meeting. But the fact something like this had injured little Mayu made her even more sick. She was sweet and innocent if a bit a shy though and had just now come around to being nice to the Autobots, she didn't deserve this. It seemed no matter who she got close to in the end they always got hurt, if not now then later when she least expected it.
She looked through the glass window across from the parking lot then to the OR doors. "I should've never involved them in this... Because of me Kohta and Mayu might... Everyone I get close to gets hurt!'' She said to no one almost on the verge of tears.
Frustrated she shot up and quickly walked out the doors. Yuka tried to get her back but Nana shook her head at her persuading her from following.
-outside
Just outside the building in the parking lot the likes of Ratchet, Hoist, Wheeljack and First Aid were working hard to repair Bumblebee. Because of his injuries it was found too risky to transport him back to base so Ratchet went about immediately trying to repair him in the parking lot. The dark purplish smudges were spreading while at the same time starting to corrupt his systems and hardware. Looking over her yellow friend she suddenly got lightheaded and nearly tripped over her own feet.
This caught the medic off guard, for one thing Lucy had far more control over her bionic enhancements. Unlike Darksyde's Lucy's were mostly minimally visible, hers were simple joint enhancers. They sped up the contracting power of her limb muscles. This in turn sped up reaction time in battle even off the field. "Hey Luce you ok? Its not like you to lose control over your joint implants.''
''I'm just dizzy lemme sit down a bit.'' She said sitting on a nearby bench.
Ratchet however figured he should at least give Autobot third in command a once over at least. ''First Aid Hoist keep working on Bumblebee. In the meantime let's take a look at you. Hmm just what is this?''
Ratchet was referring to the dark smudges that were covering her armored gauntlet/glove component. ''Dunno Darksyde called it Dark Energon... Some new deadly Decepticon weapon. Bumblebee was covered in the stuff after rescuing Mayu.''
Taking out a sampling scalpel he scraped off some of the so-called ''Dark Energon'' and dropped it into a Autobot sized petri dish. His left eye extended out like a makeshift magnifying glass. ''So anything? Hmm?'' Lucy asked the Autobot medic.
The ambulance based Autobot let out a gasp of pure shock and based on that it seemed whatever information Ratchet found out about the Dark Energon wasn't good. ''Egads! I think I know what's effecting Mayu and Kohta. Somehow they've been poisoned by it. Its little wonder Bumblebee's readings keep decreasing. It's corrupted him too. First Aid get this sample to Perceptor on the double. Lucille remove your armor that way we can keep the corruption from spreading further. Get Jetfire here quickly and speed Bumblebee back to base. First Aid put that brain of yours to use with Perceptors'. Maybe you two can think up a countermeasure for it.''
While the other ambulance Autobot called for Jetfire to pick up him, Bumblebee and transport them back to base. However Lucy was in a bit of a tizzy, mind you activating her armor wasn't any big issue but taking it off via remote cancellation was another entirely. It was too embarrassing. ''Umm... Right here? In public? No way!''
''Prime will you just do as your doctor orders please?!" Ratchet half yelled as Lucy activated her armor's disengage function allowing it to basically fall off her body revealing her skin tight sub-armor suit. It had a pink torso, lower arms/legs plus a pelvic area. Everyplace else was white. She hated this sub-armor it was like walking around in underwear to her in front of parents.
''Primus this is so embarrassing... " She muttered out. She basically had to cover her extremities out of sheer embarrassment.

By the time Jetfire arrived First Aid had stabilized Bumblebee. First Aid radioed the base to prepare for Jetfire's important cargo. ''Autobase this is First Aid I'm coming in with Bumblebee, Perceptor be there when I arrive. First Aid over and out.''
Prowl had decided he'd go along as well since Optimus wasn't at the base instead he and Jazz were trying to smooth out the issues with city hall. ''We'll be back as soon as we can. once we figure out how to repair Bumblebee we'll try to adapt it for Mayu and Kohta.''
-Autobase
Meanwhile after about one earth hour examining Bumblebee with Perceptor's findings, it was First Aid who realized that Mayu and Kohta also having been infected with Dark Energon theorized that a small exposure to normal energon should cure them because of his damaged shell he needed to be rebuilt entirely. His personal data tracks noted he wanted an upgrade in strength. But that was the first part of the two human's problem... The second was far worse.

Once news Bumblebee, Mayu, and Kohta was going to be alright reached the hospital everyone cheered out... until they heard the other underlying details. Despite the fact that a purified energon infusion would cure them of the corruption... It was very risky based on the information First Aid radioed to Ratchet. ''The Dark Energon's has injured their bodies so severely they likely won't survive the infusion process.''
''No... Mayu.'' Nana whimpered softly knowing full well what would happen to her human friend. Even a Diclonii knew that death was final one way thing as in no returns.
Kanae just balled up her fists unable to say anything she was just too depressed. Yuka however couldn't believe something like this was even happening. ''No... Kohta. Please Kami don't take him from us we need him. He's my family I love him... ''
Wheeljack hated all this sadness when suddenly he had a crazy idea pop into his head. ''Wait everyone what about the Master Process. The procedure we used with the Nebulons? Couldn't we try it on those two? It might be their best shot to make it out alive from this.''
"Master Process!? Wheeljack has yer brain gone and blown a few logic circuits!? We can't! I'm not even sure they'll even survive the procedure... It's too risky! In their current state we might even... Dahhh I can't even finish that sentence.'' Lucy spat outright shooting the idea down.
"Please Lucy you have save my brother. I am not going to bury my big brother I simply won't do it if anything he will bury me! Please if this will save him we have to take the risk. What's his life worth living like a turnip hmm?'' Kanae argued bringing up a few points.
Lori went after the rosette next. "Yes Lucy please help Mayu she's too innocent to die... " Indeed Lori was right the poor girl was only 12 years not even in puberty yet she still had many long potential years left in her life.
Yuka still had her side of the story to point out. ''Besides Mayu's underage but as far as I'm concerned we're her caretakers. It's our decision to make not yours. Kohta is our flesh and blood we're his closest available relatives, so again we have the final choice. If this'll save them both I say we do it.''
Wheeljack then realized they needed somebody err rather two somebodies to supervise the procedures. ''Then we'll need Brainstorm here along with Arcana. They created the process so they'll be supervising the procedure.''
-shortly
After a few minutes Brainstorm had arrived there then Arcana leaped out of the Autobot's jet mode cockpit. ''Lead me to them please. If I'm to complete the procedure I'll need to familiarize as well as brief the local surgeons in on Nebulon technology. It shouldn't take too long... ''
The ER's surgeon's weren't used to working with an alien doctor (especially one with green skin) but were quickly impressed by his knowledge of ancient but effective alien medical continued to wait outside the OR's doors listening in as best they could. Occasionally the voice of Arcana would spout off some random part of the procedure.
''Now make sure the Neuro-Feedback plates are fastened securely. Once put in their mental reflexes should flow must quicker.''
''The surgeon's here have repaired most of the injuries however I will add few bionic implants and a nano-based healing systems to more efficiently heal lesser injuries.
-2 hours later
It had been a long 2 hours as the group still wasn't finished with the procedure. Lori, Alexis, Daniel and Nana had fallen asleep while Spike had went to the snack bar for some eats. Kanae and Yuka had had their eyes glued to the clock ever since the operation began... so far now news. But then again no news was good news right? Lucy had started pacing around like a mad woman possessed. It pained her to not know how everything was going in there. Just when she was about to go absolutely batshit insane and stir crazy the doors opened up.
But before anyone could even ask anything Arcana put his hands up for silence. ''Please... Silence. The process was a success but the two'll need plenty of rest but they'll pull through just fine.''
Yuka and Kanae were teary eyed and practically half lunged half bear hugged the poor Nebulon doctor in purest gratitude. Nana however still had a few questions though. ''But Arcana will look... how do I say this like part... part umm part... "
Arcana figured he knew what the Diclonius girl was trying to ask so he politely cut her off. "Part robot? No. Like Darksyde you mean no my dear all her enhancements are internal visible only by x-ray and metal detector. She'll look just the same as she normally does. Let me take them to their rooms then you can visit if you wish.''
As the group of doctor wheeled the two recovering human's away to their rooms Yuka whispered a thank you to the alien doctor. "Thank you Arcana for saving the life of my cousin.''
-the next day
The next day the heavy cloud of doubt over the group's heads had been lifted up then tossed away and forgotten about. Everybody was in Mayu's room. Thankfully the girl would pull through after all. It seemed she was just in very deep sleep, mind you the operation would take some time recover from. Lucy ruffled her dark hair a little just happy with the fact she'd be alright. ''Thank Primus she'll pull through. I've never forgive myself if anything happened to her.'' The rosy haired girl mentioned offhand.
''Hey Daniel we're gonna check on Kohta wanna come kiddo?'' Kanae asked the young lad.
Daniel however politely declined the offer having reasons of a more personal nature. "No Kanae I'll stay here... keep a watch over her you keep an eye on Kohta. A familiar face might help her relax when she wakes up." Daniel said to the teen girl.
"Ok kiddo just remember we'll be just down the hall... See ya.'' She said waving at him as she left.
"Please be ok Mayu... you can make it... I know you can... You're tough." Daniel said softly taking gentle hold of the sleeping preteen's delicate hand.

-3 days later
It had been three days since Mayu was infected by the Dark Energon, cured and had undergone the 'Master Process' as she slowly opened her hazel eyes. She looked at the clock. To her shock three days had gone by. She'd been out that long?! When she took that hit she must've took it really hard. Mayu looked around her hospital room and saw Daniel sawing logs apparently staying by her side the whole three days. Did he really worry that much over her? Sure Daniel was sweet but he was a boy.
Most boys his age weren't very matured but he was an exception, his experiences with the Autobots must've matured him faster than most boys his age could ever hope to be. But maybe just maybe it was true like her friends said... she had more than just a slight crush on him. Even more weird was maybe just maybe he felt the same.
She looked over to her drawer and saw a small bundle of flowers and saw a blue note that read "Dear Mayu, Uh I'm not able to say this face to face. I'm not going to leave you alone so I thought I'd watch on you while the others help around the Inn. Please make it out ok. I... I don't... I can't lose anyone in this war." The words touched her heart strings in a way most things didn't. She'd lost all her family in this war but gained a new one with everyone she'd met so far. Did he really worry that much for her? Just maybe he liked her back it seemed.
It was then Daniel slowly woke up and saw the slightly bandaged face of his not-so-secret crush staring back at him unsure just what to say. The Witwicky son seemed almost on the verge of crying and surprisingly yet unexpectedly pounced on the schoolgirl hugging her almost afraid she'd vanish. "Oooff! Daniel! Daniel, Daniel stop it! Daniel stop it I'm ok, I'm ok, I'm ok, I'm alright Daniel I'm alright." She frantically said trying to peel him off her.
Daniel still kept up his grip still not wanting to let her go for even a second. Mayu then had to pry him off though she wondered where her strength came from. She looked right into his eyes. "Daniel look at me do I look fine?" The girl asked as he let go of her and nodded.
"Daniel." She said slightly choked for words since to an observer she looked on the verge of tears. She knew she was very young and so was he but... but she had to test it. "Daniel come here I want to test something... Ready close your eyes."
Daniel did so as the schoolgirl told him to and gently cupped both sides of his delicate face and then came the shock! She kissed him on the mouth! Mayu had kissed him! Her dainty fingers intertwined with his as then the two broke their embrace and stared into each other's eyes... it just felt so right. Then the two hugged again. "I think I kinda like you Daniel."
"I feel the same too I do like you Mayu I don't want anything bad to happen to you." Daniel said clutching her hand just as tight.
Unknown to the young lovebirds they were being watched by the older crowd. "Yup Carly that boy's a chip off the old block." Spike said quietly peering into the hospital room as the two were kissing.
"Gee Spike where've we heard that line from hmm?" Carly playfully retorted and playfully punched Spike in his left arm. Daniel may've been quiet and reserved like his blonde mother but when it came to girls he was a girl magnet... just like Spike. "We raised Daniel right I know deep down they'll get along just fine. Daniel's a good boy for her I know he'd never hurt Mayu on purpose."
"I'm just a little concerned that's all... of her kissing boys this early. Aren't they a bit young?" Yuka remarked a bit concerned about the fast speed the pair's relationship had gone in such a very short time.
"Oh Yuka they'll be fine I'm sure of it Daniel's a really nice kid. C'mon let's go see how Kohty-boy's doing hmm?"

Eventually once Kohta woke the likes of Arcana explained just what kind of procedure had been done. Granted the two were a bit rattled about it but Arcana assured them they were still 89% human. Lucy had several enhancements herself. Kohta was still a bit unsure of the idea. ''So you're all saying our strength, brain smarts and reflexes have all increased. But outside of our Master armor we're pretty much like any other regular Joe?''
''I guess that could help in PE then. I guess it could be worse, after all I could have wires coming out everywhere.'' Mayu said trying to look on the good side of this incident.
Seeing as how a tad more explanation was in order Perceptor then went on to explain the type of processes the two now had access to. ''Now the next step is the two of you need a codename. Kohta is a new type of Master. He's what we call a Powermaster and can convert into a secondary engine. Any energy he gets from food or drink he can transfer to any Autobot. Mayu is the newest Targetmaster as her armor can change itself into a semi-automatic machine gun.''
Kohta then had to think for a moment. He wanted a cool sounding type of Autobot name jet sounded Japanese too when it hit him. ''Alright people call me Ginrai from now on.''
''Hmm... How 'bout Ricochet then?'' Mayu suggested then remembered something. ''Waita minute how's Bumblebee?! He saved my life, Ratchet how is he?"
Ratchet had then finally finished up on the repairs on the said Autobot. "There I've managed Bumblebee's repairs took me awhile though after that fiasco with his Dark Energon poisoning. Hopefully I can activate him, Bumblebee can you hear me?"
''Uh... Yeah I can ooh boy that blast was slag of a loo-loo. Threw me for a few loops. What? What's the matter Lucy is my gearbox hangin' out or something?'' Seeing all the entrancing stares he thought Ratchet pulled a fast one on his deco. So Bumblebee asked gesturing at his pelvic armor aka his err his groin armor... (if he even had one that is) what the problem was. Then he saw his reflection and went nuts, a good nuts mind you. "Wow look at me! Look at my new paint deco! I've gone completely from plain ol' Bumblebee I'm a 24 carat gold bug!''
"Then from now on that's exactly who you'll be... Goldbug.'' Lucy said giving him his new name to match his new color scheme.
''I like it.'' Mayu said with a genuine cheeful smile. It seemed her hostility towards the Autobots had finally been broken down and now treated them as her friends.
''I agree. Very self-explanatory yet very simple.'' Perceptor agreed. ''But by my calculations they both must report to base after school so they can receive sophisticated training to master their new abilities.''
''Ahh Perceptor! ARGHHH!" Everyone groaned out in frustration at him basically killing the mood.
