-*X*x*X*-
Dawn came out of the auditorium where she was stopped by Mrs. Hatch, "Dawn, I just want to say that was a very lovely song."
Dawn smiled and blushed form the praise, "Thank you, but I don't think it was that good."
"Oh nonsense," she said, "I've been around for quite a while and your singing voice is one of the best I've heard. You should join the school choir next year." Dawn thought for a minute, might be something worth considering, "Also, before you go back into the hallways you might want to brace yourself. Your little performance got you quite a few fans." Dawn paled a little and the old teacher laughed, "I'm just messing with you dear, go on ahead and enjoy the rest of the talent competition." Dawn smiled and went back to join her friends.
The rest of the competition was filled with awesome and sometimes weird talents. Someone did some brilliant voice imitations, he really amazed and creeped out the audience when he pulled off an extremely accurate Gollum imitation. Another guy pulled off dance moves that seemed impossible for a human male to perform. The most interesting talent was a senior that could speak entire sentences backwards, upside down, while balancing on a stool with one hand behind his back.
The last talent of the competition was someone trying to be a comedian, who was so bad at telling jokes his attempts were funny enough to make up for the bad jokes, that and some senior sneaked onto the stage and started silently making of the guy in front of everybody. Mr. Samuel Oak came out onto the stage, "Okay, I apologize that you had to see that, well that was the last talent. So it's time to announce our winner." He pulled an envelope out of his pocket as if he was on some kind of a game show, "And the winner of this competition is… Dawn Berlitz!" Dawn was surprised, she didn't expect to win. She went onto the stage, "Congradulations Dawn, ladies and gentleman. Kalos High's most talented student." The crowd cheered and applauded for her.
The rest of the day went along smoothly after the competition came to the end, Dawn spent the remainder laughed and having a good time with her friends, but she hadn't heard anything from Ash. In fact, he seemed to be avoiding her at different points of the day. Little did she know that Ash wanted nothing but to talk to her, but two things kept getting in his way; his stubbornness about keeping his promise and that he couldn't think of what to say to her.
Before Dawn knew it, she was packing up her things to go home. She was just about to grab her bag when her IPhone buzzed. She picked it up, it was an email. She couldn't tell who it was from, but she opened it, it was the hilarious video of Paul. "Who sent this?" she asked out loud.
"Who do you think?" a voice said behind her before a hand covered her mouth, "Don't scream, and don't put up any resistance." It was Paul.
Avy and Gary were watching Ash trying really hard not to slap the back of his head, "Ash how long are you going to do this to yourself?" Avy said.
Ash looked at them, "What do you mean?"
Gary rolled his eyes, "Ash do I need to spell it out for you?" Ash shrugged, "You're in love with Dawn." Ash opened his mouth, "Don't bother covering yourself up. Let me give you some advice," Ash raised an eyebrow, "Get your stubborn head out of your-"
"Gary," Avy said, "Mrs. Hatch is watching."
Gary rethought of what he would say and put it into more 'good-boy' terms, "Quit being stubborn and forget your promise before you lose the chance at getting Dawn."
Avy nodded, "Ash Dawn's made it very clear how she feels about you, she sang a song and dedicated to you in front of the whole school. If that doesn't say love I don't know what will. I don't know a lot about how a girl's mind works. To be perfectly honest I don't think I ever want to know." Ash and Gary chuckled, "But I do know this, Dawn won't give up on you, but she won't wait for you forever either."
"Wow, that is deep." The guys turned around to see May, Leaf and Misty; the latter of which was holding her IPhone and looked like she was recording the scene.
Yeah it was and that better not go viral." Avy said pointing a finger.
"Too late," Misty said in a sing-song voice. May's phone vibrated, "Wow," Misty said as May brought out her phone, "This thing is faster than I thought."
May read the text and her eyes widened, "Ash," May said as she looked up, "Dawn needs your help."
Dawn was terrified; she had no idea what Paul was capable of. Currently he was showing her that hilarious video of Paul, but in her current situation she didn't find it as funny, "You think that's funny don't you?" Paul said, "Look I don't know how you did it, but I know it was you that did this." Paul put the phone away and started to pace around the blunette, "All I wanted was a date to the dance, but you just had to turn me into the school's number one laughing stock." Paul went to the YouTube link for the video, "This video has gotten over one million views and that's in the past couple hours."
"Paul it wasn't me," Dawn said, "I had no intention of doing this to you." Dawn didn't like Paul, but not to the point to globally humiliate him, even though he did blackmail her, well actually then again...
Paul scoffed, "Well I certainly had no intention of capturing you." Then he smirked, "but then again, I don't intend to let you get away from this unharmed." Paul started to walk toward her, "You know I"ve always wanted to see what you were hiding underneath that skirt." Dawn paled and now she really was scared.
When May told Ash that Dawn needed his help, he wasted no time in trying to find her. He personally had no idea where he was going or where he was supposed to go, but he could've sworn he saw Dawn's blue hair come this way. He walked to the door he thought he saw her go through; it was the Stage Crew's door to above the auditorium. How she got through without a key Ash had no idea, some of the Stage Crew members were trusted with a key- wait, Paul was on the Stage Crew. Ash tried the door knob, it was unlocked and he ran through the door.
He ran up the stairs and looked around not knowing where to go next, but a scream gave him the general idea. He ran in the direction of it and came to a door; there wasn't a window in the door so Ash couldn't see what was going on, probably why Paul chose it. He reached for the door knob and slowly turned it so it would be silent. Paul was horrible at locking doors, that or he didn't expect anyone to find them.
He listened to the door, "I told you not to scream," Paul said, his voice sounded angry, "If you scream again I promise you I will make this a hell lot worse than what it's already going to be." Ash opened the door a little more to the point where he could see Paul, he was standing above dawn. She was rubbing her cheek and looked close to tears; Paul had slapped her. The sight sent Ash's blood boiling, "Now on to the real fun."
"I don't think so," Ash said as he revealed himself by tackling Paul. He was thrown off-balance, but he quickly recovered and slammed his back, along with Ash, against one of the walls in the room almost knocking the breath out of him. Dazed Ash fell to the floor.
"Looks like I need to take care of you too." Paul said, but this time it was Dawn the attacked Paul. He easily over powered her and shoved her against the wall. Her head hit the wall and she fell to the ground unconscious, "Troublesome bitch." Paul said and that was Ash's snapping point. He quickly got up tackled Paul and started repeatedly punching his face.
It was only Ash was sure he was unconscious that Ash stood up, "Never call her a bitch." He said as if he could still hear her. Ash rushed to Dawn's side and checked to see if she was okay. He put a hand under her head to elevate it when he felt something. He pulled back his hand. Dawn was bleeding from a cut on the side of her forehead. Within seconds he was pulling out his phone and dialing a number.
About half an hour later, or fifteen minutes Ash couldn't be sure. He was pacing in circles in a hospital waiting room with his friends, "Ash can you stop you're making me dizzy." Gary said.
"I'm just worried," Ash said.
May shook his head, "I never thought Paul would go to such extremes."
"I did," Avy said, "But I never thought Paul was stupid enough to actually do them, on the bright side Paul is going to be expelled from school."
"I hope she's alright." Leaf said.
"Me too," Misty said.
A few minutes later Serena and Johanna came in looking like they were worried sick, "Where's Dawn?" the both asked almost simultaneously.
"The doctors are taking a look at her, that's all we know." Iris said, "And Ash is looking close to making ruts in the floor."
A doctor in a white coat came into the waiting room, "Anybody here for… Dawn Berlitz?" the doctor said and they all raised their hands, "Well I have good news, she's going to be fine. She has a slight headache, but other than that she's fine." Everyone sighed in relief.
"Can we see her?" Serena asked.
"That depends," the doctor said, "Which one of you is Ash?" Ash raised his hand, "She wants to see you before anyone else."
Ash walked into the room to see Dawn resting on the hospital bed with a bandage on her head, but other than that she looked fine. She looked over at Ash, "Hey Ash."
"Hey Dawn," Ash sat in the chair next to her bed, "I'm so glad you're okay." He was, in fact every second since he made the call was absolute torture to him, and only know that he could see that she was okay did he find relief. He didn't know what he would do if anything serious happened to her.
"So am I," Dawn agreed, "Paul didn't hurt you did he?"
Ash smiled, "Nope, except for when he captured you." Dawn blushed.
"W-well that's sweet of you to say Ash." She said shyly, Ash couldn't help but notice how cute she looked when she was shy. She looked at Ash, "Why are you staring at me?"
Now it was Ash's turn to blush, "W-well I was just… enjoying the view." He said the last part silently.
Dawn giggled, "Who are you and what have you done with Ash Ketchum?"
Ash chuckled, "I'm still Ash don't worry." They shared a laugh and found themselves staring into each other's eyes. They found themselves leaning towards to each other, when their faces were getting close Dawn pulled away blushing in embarrassment.
"I'm sorry Ash I didn't mean to-" Dawn started to say, but she was cut off when Ash brought her face back to his and kissed her on the lips. Dawn was surprised, the kiss lasted a few seconds before he pulled away, "Ash… what?" that was all the blunette could say.
"When you were unconscious I realized just how much you meant to me," Ash said, "I made a horrible mistake at the dance last night thinking I was doing the right thing by keeping my promise, but let's face it; it was a stupid promise." Ash was starting to ramble.
"Ash where are you going with this?" Dawn said hoping it was what she thought it was.
Ash tucked a loose hair behind her ear being careful of the bandage, "Dawn I love you." He said. Tears were coming to Dawn's eyes, "You still think you can give my heart a break?"
Dawn made a noise that sounded between a laugh and a sob, "Yes," she said before pulling ash down for another kiss. Ash immediately returned the kiss and Dawn tilted her head to deepen it.
A wolf whistle was heard, which was followed by a large smack. The couple split apart and turned to see their friends at the door, with Gary rubbing the back of his head in painful annoyance, "Were you spying on us?" they said at the same time.
"No," Avy defended, they gave him looks, "Yes."
"If I weren't in a bed you'd be so dead by now." Dawn said.
Gary chuckled, "You sure know how to pick a good one Ash," he said and Misty raised an eyebrow and he quickly added, "You almost did as great as I did with Misty."
Everyone laughed, "Boy are you whipped." Iris said.
Ash looked at his friends, "Guys can you give us one more minute alone?" they nodded and were soon out of sight. Ash turned back to Dawn, "Where were we?" Dawn giggled and kissed hm.
The when separated Dawn hugged Ash, "I love you Ash." She whispered into his ear.
Ash sighed at the feeling those words gave him, "I love you too Dawn." Ash said happy that he broke his promise for someone as amazing as Dawn.
