Chapter 14

Jack rushed to the mans side as he heard his words.

"Are you family?" The doctor questioned.

"No her parents are on their way here."

"Okay, we will have to wait until they get here."

"Can you at least tell me how she is?"

"And who are you?"

"The boyfriend." Jack answered annoyed.

The doctor took a deep breath before an airy, "okay."

"Thank you doctor."

"Kim sustained various injuries, all ranging from mild to severe. Her mild injuries would be the many bruises and cuts out lining her body, those will heal in due time. Her back was of concern, due to the long cuts, and not proper equipment, they were infected. He gave Kim an aniti bacterial pill that she will need to take for a week or so. We also stitched up the cuts, they will be sore, but I'm confident they will make a full recovery.

Her hand will need surgery. I'm not sure if you know this, but each of her fingers were savagely broken along with her wrist. The soft cast given was not nearly effective, but we are glad she was somewhat not using her hand, regardless.

Lastly, she is highly dehydrated and malnourished, when she fell asleep her body went into a coma-like mode, it was a survival 'technique'. Once given the nutrition she needed she was awoken.

We drained her stomach and noticed large amounts of alcohol, this was very damaging to her young sober body, however the giant hangover will eventually dissipate, and keep a close eye in her. She has been through a traumatic experience and alcohol is a really easy escape from the world, after this one, I presume forced, binge her likeliness to become addicted has been significantly raised.

Her mental state must be havoc. I suggest extensive amounts of psychological therapy. It will take a long time, but Kim is a strong girl, I think with help she will be able to overcome this and resume the normal teenage life.

I think that is all, and as soon as the parents are here, with their permission you are welcome to see her."

As if on cue, Kim's parents rushed in the front door.

"That's them." Jack said.

The doctor nodded and approached the couple. Jack vaguely heard the doctor repeating the large monologue. After which was done, both Jack and Kim's parents were lead to her room. The doctor gave Kim's parents the necessary instructions to have a fast and full recovery.

As Jack entered the room and Kim came into sight, he wanted to break down. Her body was connected to various instruments, her eyes were closed, and her breathing was being regulated.

Jack felt an immediate immense amount of guilt. She never would have been in this position if it wasn't for his past. But he remembered Rudy's words. He needed to be strong.

For Kim.

Jack found his place at her side and grabbed her cold hand. He kissed her forehead and stared at her bruised face. He couldn't wait until his Kim was back. Her parents watched him proclaim his love and affection with smiles on their faces.

A few moments later Kim's eyes fluttered open. She registered a new surrounding immediately followed by fear. Her breathing quickened until she was hyperventilating.

"Hey now, calm down. You're okay, you're safe." Jack said evenly.

Kim's parents rushed to her side and Kim began to calm down.

"Mom? Dad?" Kim choked out.

"You're alive." Kim's mom broke down crying.

"Im gonna be okay?" Kim questioned.

"You're gonna be just fine." Jack promised with a smile.

For a few hours the four of them casually chatted. The remembered better times and vowed to keep making them. Kim was coming along nicely. She was laughing and enjoying the company. She was incredibly glad to be home, she was finally starting to feel normal.

Everyone was pleased with her recovery pace, she was taking to people about her trauma and learning to cope. She found comfort in her friends and Jack, and she started some new hobbies to keep herself distracted. She learned that the less free time she had to ponder her kidnapping, the better it was for healing. Some new hobbies Kim picked up were drawing. She realized she had a real knack for capturing emotions and putting them on canvas. She was a fantastic artist, it let her release her feelings in a safe way. Whenever Kim started to fall into her pit of depression, she pulled put a canvas and painted her feelings away. She had never seen a better coping technique. It was good for everyone.

Every now and then Kim would start to really struggle. It was normal and everyone had to learn to adjust to this new part of Kim. But as long as they talked Kim through her panic attack she would be fine. Jack was her boulder, she leaned on him heavily throughout her recovery. She had thought she would be embarrassed and angry at the dark shaggy haired boy, but this experience only brought them closer together.

She was okay. She would be okay. She would learn to continue be okay. It was hard, my hell it was hard, but Kim was doing it. She was a tough cookie, she wouldn't break, she would move on and become stronger from it.

Kim was okay.
