Elena coughed and gasped for air. She could feel someones arms around her and she hugged back with what strength she had. Closing her eyes she let the tears fall. She was back. Opening her eyes she pushed Damon away ever so slightly, just enough to see his face.

"Thank you." Her smile was weak, but she tried her best. He only smiled back and kissed her like it was bringing her back to life.

Turning to Katherine she smiled. "And thank you, I hope you and him make up in the future." Katherine nodded and in the blink of an eye she was gone. Caroline was next in sight followed by Klaus and Rebekah. Caroline hugged her with so much force but not enough to kill her. Elena understood why Katherine wanted a family like this. They were everything and they each had someone to lose. They were family and family stuck together.

"Hate to break this sentimental moment, but, I'm starving." They all stared at her and laughed, slowly they started leaving the room. She grabbed Damon's hand causing him to turn around and look at her. Before he could get a word out she kissed him with all the passion and love she had. Putting her head to his chest she breathed and whispered, "Thank you." Lifting her chin he smiled with a sweet smile. "Anytime." Both smiling he lifted her and threw her over his shoulders both laughing and heading to the kitchen.

When they arrived they noticed everyone not moving and staring, entering the kitchen they saw Katherine standing there in the middle just looking at them. With out thinking Elena walked over and hugged her. Katherine not sure what to do, hugged her back. For a few moments no one said anything, then someone coughed. Letting go they looked into each others eyes and nodded.

"You hungry?" Elena raised her eyebrow expecting an answer.

"Sure." Katherine gave a shy smile avoiding eye contact with the others.

"So why are we not killing her at this very moment?" Rebekah looked dumbfounded and like none of this was real.

"Just because." Elena shrugged her shoulders and looked into the cupboard. Smiling she tried to reach for the pancake mix, but it was just out of reach, for some reason she thought sticking her tongue out was going to make her arm grow an extra centimetre. Laughing Damon reached up and grabbed the pancake mix and the chocolate chips. "Oh shush!" She huffed and crossed her arms making everyone laugh. Looking over at Katherine she smiled again. "We're not killing her because she was just doing what anyone would do. She's not as evil as everything thinks she is, even herself." Katherine gave a small smile.

"I am sorry.. that might not mean anything, but I am sorry..." Caroline looked at the both of them for a moment, then laughed and reached over giving Katherine a long hug.

Elena smiled again and went into the fridge frowning when she didn't see the strawberries, when she saw one in front of her dangling by someones hand. Turning around she saw Damon holding a strawberry. Sticking out her tongue she tried to reach for the strawberry, with no success. Damon took a bite smiling.

"Ok, that was not the last strawberry was it?" She started to pout causing every one to laugh again.

"Course not 'Lena. I wouldn't let him eat all of them." Caroline giggled when she opened the container of strawberries.

Once everyone started to help make the pancakes, or try to anyways, Katherine, Klaus and Rebekah went into the other room. Caroline went to go get more strawberries and chocolate sauce. Elena found herself on the counter once again.

She watched as Damon flipped and made the pancakes with perfection. She couldn't help but smile, he was like a god, and she bet he knew it to.

"Now what are you staring at?" He smirked as he flipped the pancakes.

"Oh, you know, nothing in particular." She gave him a challenging smile. He moved so he was placed in front of her with both hands on the counter.

"Oh really?"

"Hmm, wouldn't you like to know." She looped her fingers in his jeans tugging him closer, and leaned in so she could whisper in his ear. "By the way, your burning the pancakes." She couldn't contain the laughter and almost fell off the counter. He just shook his head and began flipping the pancakes. "Aww is poor Damon upset." He didn't even move his eyebrow just continued what he was doing. "Daaamooonn." He contiuned to ignore her, as he started plating the food. So she decided to kick him, not hard but hard enough to get his attention, and this time he looked at her. She cocked her head to the side and raised her finger for him to get closer. This time he arched his eyebrow moving closer with such slow movements it was driving her crazy. When he was standing in front of her, she wrapped her arms around his neck, drawing him closer very slowly. He rested his hand on her hip and the other on the counter. She whispered very low so only he could hear her, "Kiss me.." She didn't have to ask twice.

"Katherine what do you want?" Rebekah didn't care if anyone else was on the same page, she still hated this thing.

"I want to know where he is.." Katherine was staring at the ground, unable to make eye contact with the siblings.

"He's closer than you think." This caused her to look at Klaus, who gave a small smile.

"Niklaus!" Rebekah yelled at him. "You're not suppose to say anything! You promised!"

"You should know where he is staying, but I suggest staying for breakfast before you go, considering Elena is the only thing keeping you alive." Katherine nodded, and tears filled her eyes, she was going to see him again, and this time she wouldn't let go.

"Thank you.. I mean it..."

"I know you do, just don't mess up a second time, because Katherine, I can't see him go through that again. And I can't guarantee your life won't be sparred."

"I understand." Rebekah only huffed and left the room angry at the fact her brother broke the promise they made Elijah so long ago.

"Are you guys going to make another mess, or are you going to take it to the bedroom?" Caroline looked everywhere but where Elena and Damon were.

Laughing they seperated, getting the food ready.

"I think if we were to use the chocolate syrup again it would be behind closed doors." This earned Damon a slap to the shoulder by Elena, but the three of them laughed.

"You wish." She started to move the plates to the table.

"I know, there's a difference." This only caused the girls to laugh even more.

"Oh, how long are you staying in town Care?" Elena turned to face the blonde.

"I wasn't planning on staying long, but something tells me I'm going to be staying for awhile." She smiled at Elena.

"Really?! That's awesome! Can I ask you something then?"

"Sure."

"Do you want to join the cheerleading squad?" Elena smiled when Caroline's mouth dropped.

"I think she would love that, considering she has been trying for as long as I've known her." Klaus came and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Well, that means I get to have my best friend, and body guard at school all the time." They both smiled and started to laugh while the boys groaned.

"Does this mean we lose you guys to 'girls night'?" This caused them all to laugh.

They all moved to the table taking places to sit. Feeling brave Elena sat on Damon's lap, not caring what they thought or why they all raised their eyebrows she just started to eat, earning a laugh from everyone.

This was a family, no matter what the issue or how messed up they all were, they were family.

Don't worry this isn't over, just this little "problem" they had is over, they still have highschool, and Stefan and Matt are still out there :o ! Plus we have all those bad guys that happen during the show. Beisides Katherine, I really wanted her to turn into a good person and considering SPOILER ALERT she is now a human in the show (for now I'm assuming) I didn't want her to be a threat anymore. And I couldn't/can't make Elena a vampire just yet. Find out in the next chapters whats going to happen, though the next chapter or two is going to be mainly Elena and Damon, figured that kind of chapter is due :P not sure how far I am going to take it though.
